“Last week there was a terrible incident that took place in Melbourne. Sadly it’s not the first terrorist-related incident to take place in Melbourne. We need to recognise this scourge is with us, and with us for a long period of time.”
But why, Mr. Dutton? Why is this scourge with us for a long period of time? One reason is because you and your colleagues refuse to name it for what it is, or to deal with its ideological roots. Thus it can and will keep cropping up in ways you do not anticipate, as in this case with Momena Shoma. Another reason is because of immigration policies that your government indefatigably pursues, bringing in Muslim migrants among whom are always an unknowable number of jihad terrorists, without even making any serious attempt to screen them (which is well-nigh impossible anyway).
So yes, you’re right, sir: this scourge will be with Australia for a long period of time. And if Australia survives as a free nation, future generations will point at you and your colleagues for bringing that scourge upon your nation.
“Peter Dutton says the ‘scourge’ of Islamic State terrorism in Australia is here to stay – after a burqa-wearing Bangladeshi student, 24, ‘stabbed a man in his sleep in an ISIS-inspired attack,’” Daily Mail Australia, February 12, 2018:
Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton says the ‘scourge’ of Islamic State will be with Australia for a long time, after another alleged terror attack in Melbourne.
Momena Shoma, 24, is accused of stabbing a 56-year-old man in the neck and shoulder at his Mill Park home while he was asleep with his five-year-old daughter on Friday.
‘Last week there was a terrible incident that took place in Melbourne. Sadly it’s not the first terrorist-related incident to take place in Melbourne,’ Mr Dutton told parliament on Monday.
‘We need to recognise this scourge is with us, and with us for a long period of time.’
Mr Dutton praised Victoria’s anti-terror police and ASIO for preventing more attacks: ‘There’s a lot of work that goes on around the clock that Australians aren’t aware of.’
Shoma, the Bangladeshi national who allegedly attacked the 56-year-old father at his Callistemon Rise home in Mill Park on Friday afternoon has been charged with engaging in a terrorist act….

The scourge is with you because you first invited it in, then you enabled it by making an environment where your subjects [aussies are no longer citizens] defenseless. Well i guess Aussies got what they voted for…way to go…I see you learned alot from the UK experience…dunderheads!
StellaSaidSo says
The law restricting gun ownership in Australia was passed by the Howard gov’t in the wake of the Port Arthur Massacre in 1996, long before the ‘scourge’ was ‘invited in’. While it may appear that some countries have not learned a lot (note that ‘a lot’ is two words, not one) from the UK experience, it should be remembered that, in any election, not every citizen’s vote is for the winning party, and sometimes there is no significant difference between contenders. Australia is currently in much the same position as the UK – the party in gov’t is useless, but the alternative is even worse.
Jay says
The scourge was invited in before 1996. Namely the Turkish and Lebanese Muslims who were invited into the country in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Not to mention the Muslims from the Indian subcontinent who have been invited in huge numbers in the last two decades.
StellaSaidSo says
Indeed, it was Malcolm Fraser who opened the door to Muslim immigration, with the Lebanese in the 1970s. The Turks who arrived in the 60s and 70s came from what was then a modern, secular country, and were far less of a problem. Nobody referred to either group as a ‘scourge’; their numbers were insignificant, and their influence small.
But under the Rudd/Gillard gov’ts, post-2007, the situation changed dramatically, and we began to see a pattern developing which was all-too familiar in other countries which had also accepted immigration from Islamic countries. Undaunted by the warnings, gov’ts increased the migrant intake while decreasing the security checks. The result – in Victoria in particular, with its marauding African gangs – is the ‘scourge’ to which I referred in my post.

“dunderheads”?
In Australia, we have a word for people like you. You would likely be called “a Tool”, and rightfully so in my opinion.
It is most amusing when a Tool passes comments on Australian politics as though we, as voters, have a clear choice with a two party preferred system where both major parties have considerable policy overlap.
We brought this on ourselves? Actually, we did not. The Australian citizens did not bring this on themselves. Our political elite brought this on us in their attempt to grovel for a position with the UN.
Do a bit of research on Australia and you will see our political system is derived from the Westminster System. We are not a republic. We do not vote for the leader of any party. We do not vote for our Prime Minister. It is the system we have, and it worked exceptionally well until the political elites decided amongst themselves to embrace the falseness that is multiculturalism.
StellaSaidSo says
Well said, Angry Aussie. I think the term ‘tool’ is appropriate. One or two others did occur to me, but I restrained myself.
JMB says
(From Sydney Australia) To Angry Aussie. Again, well said. I think you see the sense of frustration that is shared by so many Australians at this time. Yes, this country is trying to get a seat on the UNHRC, as such we will go along with everything that the UN decrees regarding accepting refugees. Our present (conservative?)prime minister also has made it quite clear that Muslims are welcome here in Australia. We have one minor party called One Nation that is anti-immigration and anti-Muslim, but at the best it just gets the protest vote and it’s leader Pauline Hanson is not taken too seriously and often gets called racist Nazi bigot etc. We have another minor party called the Greens, they are for open door immigration as long as they are not white.
Our government has also stated that; “It is a UN obligation that Australia has a non-racist immigration policy’. We also have draconian human rights and racial vilification laws that make any public debate on “inappropriate” immigration almost impossible.
In the meantime while we see more and more Islamic crime and terror happening in this country we are constantly reminded that Australia is the world’s most successful multicultural nation. As another poster to this site recently said, “if this is true I would hate to see the least successful.” (We seesuch places on the news every night, I think it is called civil war)

Robert, I think you are being somewhat unfair to Peter Dutton.
Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton is actually better informed than most members of the Turnbull gov’t. He knows that the ‘scourge will be with us for a very long time’ because he knows that the scourge is Islam. Dutton, a former police officer, recently blasted the Victorian gov’t over its failure to deal adequately with African street gangs in Melbourne. He accused Premier Daniel Andrews of undermining the police and the courts, describing sentences handed down as ‘a joke’. Dutton summarised his position in the following words: ‘If people haven’t integrated, if they are not abiding by our laws, if they don’t adhere to our culture, then they are not welcome here.’ I don’t think any JW reader would disagree.
Angry Aussie says
Agree 100% StellaSaidSo. If only we had 150 Peter Duttons. Australia would be safe.

Peter Dutton has to be careful with his words. Because even the moderates in his party or even his leader would call him a ‘racist’ 😎
He does admit it was a mistake to allow all those Lebanese Muslims to arrive as refugees in the 1970’s and 1980’s.
Dutton would make an excellent Liberal party leader and deliver a big win for the party. Sure they would lose a few ‘latte’ belt seats in the major cities. However they would the vast majority of seats outside those areas.

Wellington says
Hey, Stella, you’re the one in your 10:46 A.M. post who asserted that Robert Spencer was being “somewhat unfair” to Peter Dutton.
Yes, technically and specifically speaking, you didn’t assert that the Duttons of the West would be “enough,” but by defending Dutton as you did you implicitly took a weight off of him which should not be taken off.
While bad generals never win wars, rarely do mediocre ones either. I trust you see my point.
It’s time for winning, Stella, and not just holding the line. My God, and as Spencer himself noted, Dutton can’t even bring himself to name the enemy. How pathetic. Oh yeah, Dutton is far, far, far from “enough.” I trust you see my point.
StellaSaidSo says
RS assumed from one incident that Dutton is like every other politician, whereas a bit of research could have led to a different conclusion. Why should Dutton not be defended? His record is a lot better than that of most politicians, as the comments here – from people far better informed than you – reveal.
gravenimage says
Dear Stella and Angly Aussie, I have no doubt that Peter Dutton is better on this issue than many in power in Australia. There is this, though:
“Peter Dutton defends Asio director over refugee and terrorism comments”
https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2017/jun/01/peter-dutton-defends-asio-director-over-refugee-and-terrorism-comments
Peter Dutton has defended the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation director, Duncan Lewis, over his evidence to the Senate rejecting One Nation’s claims of a link between refugees and terrorism.
The comments from the senior conservative figure stand in contrast with Tony Abbott’s warning on Wednesday that public officials should not “deny facts” that three recent terrorist attacks in Australia “involved either people claiming to be refugees or the children of refugees”…
…
He is right that it is not just new Muslims migrants who are the threat–there are also those children of Muslim migrants who are now born in Australia itself.
But inviting in *more* ravening Muslims is obviously insane–or it certainly should be. That Peter Dutton is for this is concerning at the least.
I’m sure there are many Australian politicians who are worse than Peter Dutton–but I hope he is not the best.
Wellington says
Seconded, gravenimage. And which comment by you aligns not only with what I wrote in my 4:54 P.M. post, but with what Robert Spencer himself wrote above about the unwillingness of even people like Dutton to name the enemy (and if you can’t even name the enemy, you can’t win the war).
No way John Quincy Adams or Winston Churchill would have hesitated here, ditto for others like Ernest Renan, Bertrand Russell, Oriana Fallaci (who when asked about Islam, her reply was, “I hate Islam”) and, yes, also Donald Trump, who said in March of 2016, “I think Islam hates us.” Yes indeed, a Dutton might point sometimes in the right direction, but such people are still not nearly enough respecting what Western Civilization really needs to save itself.
Greater people than the Duttons of the West are necessary. Surely. Soon like.
StellaSaidSo says
I think you should expand your research before passing judgment on Peter Dutton.
The fact that Dutton defended Lewis in this instance has more to do with political considerations than with whether or not he agreed that One Nation’s claims were erroneous.
Indeed, there are worse politicians in Australia than Peter Dutton. But so far we haven’t managed to produce anyone as idiotic or embarrassing as Nancy Pelosi or Maxine Waters – or as criminal as Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama.
Wellington says
I agree with you, Stella, that contempt for such people as Pelosi, Waters, Clinton and Obama is fully deserved. They are disgusting, and definitely worse than Peter Dutton. Here we have no disagreement.
But that is not the point here. The point here is whether someone like Peter Dutton is enough to stop the decimation of Western Civilization by Islam (and its Leftists allies). And I, gravenimage and Robert Spencer himself most assuredly think he and those like him are not enough.
Yes, this is the matter at issue here and thus pointing to bad behavior to excuse only somewhat positive behavior simply will not do. You know this or should know this.
StellaSaidSo says
You can set fire to your straw man right there, Wellington.
Nobody here has claimed that ‘someone like Peter Dutton is enough to stop the decimation of Western Civilisation by Islam’.
The point being made by Australian posters to this thread is that Dutton is a better-informed and more outspoken politician on the subject of the Islamic threat than he is portrayed in the article.
Wellington says
I set up no straw man, Stella. I merely pointed out that someone like Dutton, while better than many like May, Merkel, certainly Obama, Pope Francis I and Hillary, is still not enough.
Robert Spencer essentially pointed out the same in his article above. I think you are confused about what a true straw man argument really entails. I am not guilty here. Reconsider.
StellaSaidSo says
Wellington, you claimed ‘the point’ to be something that it wasn’t, so that you could then mount an argument against it. But ‘the point here’ was never ‘whether someone like Peter Dutton is enough to stop the decimation of Western Civilisation by Islam’, as you asserted in your Feb 12, 5:58pm. Not a single poster to this thread made such a claim. And neither did Robert Spencer.

But he his swimming against the current, even his own party will not support him. Is it OPEC oil money behind this? The hope of a bunch of voters that will always vote for the same slugs?
Perhaps these useful idiots think they won’t end up in a re-education camp or at chop chop square by facilitating the demise of our once great countries.
Angry Aussie says
Back right up a bit. Peter Dutton is exceptional at his job. He does call Islamic terrorism out for exactly what it is. He is well versed with false refugee claims and does his job very well.
To imply Peter Dutton is at fault for what is occurring in Australia is misleading. He has difficulty because of Left leaning politicians in his own party. There are so many avenues of appeal available at taxpayer expense to these pests AKA ambassadors of Islam, that the Leftists ensure every avenue is absolutely exhausted before due process can be followed, and even then it doesn’t always occur.
We had a series of undocumented Iranian “refugees” come to Australia. They were granted asylum. They were then caught holidaying a half dozen times in Iran, the very place they claimed they would be brutally murdered had they not been granted asylum. Peter Dutton pushed for their deportation, but a Refugee Review panel consisting of a majority of refugees, overturned their deportation.
Please do not blame Peter Dutton. He is one of the few politicians with Australia’s best interest at heart and has deported more criminal sorts from Australian shores than any other serving politician.
StellaSaidSo says
All true, and easily verified. I am disappointed that the normally meticulous RS failed to do his homework on this one. Peter Dutton is neither unwilling to name the problem, and nor is he among those responsible for its arrival on our shores, as RS mistakenly asserts.
Jay says
RS is right in stating this is a problem of the whole political elite in this country and what ever Peter Dutton believes privately, he still is part of a government that takes this suicidal approach.
StellaSaidSo says
It is a problem of the political elites in all Western countries, not just Australia. Peter Dutton’s views on immigration are no secret. He has made many public statements critical of gov’t policy. A few minutes’ research could have resulted in an article which acknowledged Dutton’s leadership on this issue, while at the same time condemning the usual suspects for their usual failure.
tim gallagher says
I agree with the comments above praising Peter Dutton. I’ve felt for the last three years or so that he should be Prime MInister. Jay’s comment, above, I’m sure is accurate. Dutton is part of this “broad church” as Howard and others have called the LIberal Party. There are many left wing PC idiots in the party such as Turnbull, the present Prime Minister. I guess a man like Bernardi packed up and left because he couldn’t stand to put up with them any longer and formed the Australian Conservatives. I watched a bit of Question Time in Parliament yesterday and Andrew Hastie (another good conservative) asked Dutton about how the government was protecting Australian citizens. The annoying thing about Dutton’s answer was he never mentioned Muslim terrorism in his reply. The usual crap. Of course, I guess we all know it’s always Muslim terrorism anyway. But I believe it should always be spelt out. Call it what it is, Muslim terrorism. I think Dutton would like to be tougher but can’t be. But they’re all too weak. Only Pauline Hanson has said she will have no more Muslim migration, the only sensible policy. The other policies are suicidal in the long run.
StellaSaidSo says
Good post, tim gallagher. Hopefully, the time will come when Dutton will be able to rip into Turnbull the way he ripped into Daniel Andrews a few weeks ago. He is certainly future PM material. Survival in politics is a balancing act, and a prudent man knows when to bide his time and watch his back.

As I noted in an earlier post, Peter Dutton is on record saying: ‘If people haven’t integrated, if they aren’t abiding by our laws, if they don’t adhere to our culture, then they are not welcome here’. tim gallagher says
I would like to make a point about the comments on Peter Dutton. There’s that saying that “politics is the art of the possible” and it surely has some validity. I personally would like the poltical leaders in all western nations to be as tough and realistic as the leaders of Hungary, Czech Republic and Poland. I wish they would just all blanket ban any Muslims getting into their countries. But you can’t run too far ahead of the people in a democracy. I don’t believe enough of the population in Australia has woken up and developed a tough enough attitude towards Muslim migration for politicians who want a complete ban to be successful. The people are just too nice and tolerant or something like that. Dutton is one of our toughest politicians in relation to Islam and other issues. Sadly, most are pathetic wimps compared to him. Pauline Hanson aims to end Muslim migration but she only gets 8-10% of the vote for her party. There is also, no doubt, at least to some degree, the fact that political leaders in many nations tend to arrogantly ignore the people’s wishes to some degree and impose their idiotic PC crap on us. To conclude, it may be sad to say it, but Dutton is one of our toughest politicians. I agree with the points you have been making, StellSaidSo.

Guy Forester says
With all due respects to what AA, SSS, and a few others posted, this will continue as long as Australians tolerate this. I realize you have a different system than the US, but ultimately, it is up to the average Aussie to fix the problem.
We have an uphill battle. The MSM and the indoctrination centers, known as public schools, seem to be working overtime to keep us all in the dark and distracted from reality.
Have you ever noticed the endless coverage of the kardashiasses? The never ending coverage of the talking heads on TV? What makes these self important people such experts that we should wait with baited breath for every pronouncement they make? They have nothing of import to say that we should any pay attention to them.
Here we are on a website arguing about Mr. Dutton. You would think that after Lee Rigby was murdered, the Brits would be up in arms. They were not. An aussie guy is attacked in his own home. Where are the Aussie Lives Matter protestors? We had two WTC towers brought down 17 years ago. We were told “go shopping, take a vacation, or the terrorists win.” No massive protests in the streets or demands for revenge. We were told we should NOT be angry!
The reason for this, at least one anyway, was noted after the San Bernardino massacre. The neighbors of these two jihadis noted something was wrong, but did not report them for fear of being deemed racists
Folks, we have been fed hogwash over the past few decades and have swallowed it. The truth is, our Western values are superior to others. The truth is that cultures and religions do not simply differ on a few minor points and otherwise share the same values and goals. Race does not determine religion, values, intelligence, or character. But anytime we object to being attacked in our own homes and country by “immigrants” or “refugees” we are called “racists.”
Our so called leaders have sold us out for what, I do not know. They refuse to listen to us. I do not know what it will take to fix this, but it won’t be pretty when the wrong button gets pushed.
tim gallagher says
I share your anger, Guy. And, obviously, many people who comment here on Jihad Watch also share your anger. When will enough people in our societies wake up to be able to force our mostly useless politicians to do the right thing in relation to Islam? As I said above, I see only the leaders in Hungary, Czech Republic and Poland as doing the right thing. Also Burma, though it cops lots of criticism, is doing the right thing in throwing its Muslims out. I think that maybe we western, mostly white people are supposed to put up with importing Muslim barbarians because we owe them something and are supposed to feel guilty for things we’re supposed to have done, maybe as colonisers. And it seems lots of people in western societies do seem to feel this way. To me, it’s garbage and we definitely shouldn’t let any Muslims into our countries. I hope the people wake up in huge numbers soon. It’s taking so bloody long to happen which is a point you make..

He could have said “you”. Because the politicians are not really part of the “us”, although they pretend to be. They never suffer from the damage done by the very governments they lead or are part of. It always seems to work out just fine for them, their families, their friends and business associates.

Not every MP is part of the privileged elite, Bill. They don’t all live in mansions in Toorak or Rose Bay. Peter Dutton was a police officer until his election to parliament. Pauline Hanson ran a fish & chip shop before she was first an MP. Silvertails like Turnbull are rare in Australian parliaments. I agree that there is not enough accountability, that some politicians are motivated by personal gain, and that too many of them are infected with political correctness – but compared with other countries, we don’t fare too badly.

I see the Aussies have Inspector Clouseau on the case!
Wazza says
The scourge is our Politicians and Lefties for allowing these parasites to invade, let alone allow them to get away with breaking Laws, and then Head cops say, we don’t have a problem with African gangs
Until these fools are replaced, Oz will continue down a slippery slope to end up like Germany, France, Canada and most of Europe
We need someone strong and with guts to be our leader, and sack every One who cries for those poor immigrants
Guy Forester says
Definition of Politics:
Poli, from Greek, meaning many
Tic(k)s, blood sucking insects
Sorry for the long diatribe above. I am about fed up with the blood sucking polticos that insist we are racists and deplorable if we resist the sacking and looting of our country.
Ray Jarman says
Very well said. It deserves a triple A rating.

Guy, while no politicians are perfect, it is not the case that they are all of a piece.
Some are definitely more intent on protecting their people than others.
StellaSaidSo says
‘…it is not the case that they are all of a piece…’
Indeed. This has been my point throughout this entire thread. And Peter Dutton is one of those politicians who is trying to protect the people of his country. As most of the Australians posting here have noted.
You appear to have revised your earlier negative view of Dutton, GI. This is a welcome development.

I’m reproducing the entire horror here… WARNING VERY GRAPHIC ISLAMIC VIOLENCE:
Makes one blood boil….
Trying to paste it.. but it is not allowing me to
Badger says
paste the code and we can find it ourselves

Is it this? https://clarionproject.org/warning-graphic-video-isis-children-4/

I’ve seen these horrific videos. That these children are forced to murder people in a bullet-pocked playground is all the more sickening.
I have no words for how much I hate Islam.
Badger says
It is time we stopped talking about islamic terror as if it were the responsibility of only a small part of the muslim population. We know the answers to that so let’s leave it aside for now.
ALL muslims that migrate to Western countries REFUSE to integrate and so form exclusive ghettos. They are commanded to do so in the koran, and most of us can quote at least a couple of instances where that is prescribed even if we are not scholars like Mr Spencer who can probably give chapter and verse for the entire book.
The stupidity and ignorance, either out of wilful ignorance or malice, of the West’s leaders on this subject is, should it continue, will be a guarantee of the destruction of Western civilisation as we have known it only 20 years ago.
This is the real problem, even though attacks like Nice and the Bataclan rightly get the headlines. It is the slow steady creep of islam poisoning our culture as we sleep, with the ultimate aim of imposing itself on the whole of humanity.
Terror works of course. The growing number of bollards and check points in our shopping areas and on our bridges are proof of that. But the insidious changes that stealthily take place pass unnoticed. The way news is presented by the BBC. The campaign against free speech under the cloak of fake news. The censorship of the female form as dictated by London’s muslim mayor, sharia by another name. The poisoning of children’s minds both at home and in the classroom. The takeover of councils like Tower Hamlets where 66% of the councillors have muslim names in a borough where islam is still only in the thirties percentage wise. The quiet acceptance of voting fraud, something that was utterly unthinkable in England in the last century.
This is where the muslims are winning. Just look how they have changed our lives already.

Good points, Badger.
Richard Courtemanche says
Well, he’s a minister. Why doesn’t he do something to change things?
StellaSaidSo says
He’s a minister, not an emperor.
Maybe if you took the time to read thru the thread you would have a better idea of what Peter Dutton has done to try to change things.
sally says
This is an obvious case of Munchausen Syndrome – the victim (Australia’s government) creates another victim (the people of Australia) so they can effect a “cure”. Mr. Dutton and his government ARE the scourge of Australia. Why do the people of Australia put up with it? We are the same way here – we tolerate the most egregious violations of our rights and freedoms and deadly assaults on our citizens just so we can “look good” to someone somewhere who in the end doesn’t give a damn. Mr. Dutton praising the anti-terror police is what give his version the special “Munchausen” effect.
StellaSaidSo says
What nonsense. Why don’t you take the time to read thru the thread, sally? You might learn something about Peter Dutton.
