Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Erdogan vows to recapture all lands once held by the Ottoman Empire — and more

Feb 21, 2018 2:09 pm By Robert Spencer

“We say at every opportunity we have that Syria, Iraq and other places in the geography [map] in our hearts are no different from our own homeland. We are struggling so that a foreign flag will not be waved anywhere where adhan [Islamic call to prayer in mosques] is recited.”

Apparently Erdogan means at the very least the recapture of all the lands once held by the Ottoman Empire. That’s not just Greece, as in the article title below. That’s also Bulgaria, Romania, Yugoslavia, Algeria, Syria, Iraq, Israel, Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, and more. How seriously this can be taken is anybody’s guess, but it shouldn’t be dismissed out of hand. Erdogan is already moving against the Kurds in Syria, explicitly calling the action a “jihad” and invoking the Ottoman era repeatedly.

And “We are struggling so that a foreign flag will not be waved anywhere where adhan [Islamic call to prayer in mosques] is recited” refers to far more than just the old Ottoman domains. That means everywhere there are Muslims in Europe and everywhere else. The caliphate is, in Sunni Islamic theology, the sole legitimate government for Muslims on earth, to which all Muslims owe allegiance. Erdogan is saying more clearly than he ever has before, as far as I know, that he is going to restore the caliphate. And he is virtually promising war with the non-Muslim (at least for now) states of Europe.

How far we have come. Just a few years ago, mainstream analysts would dismiss my talk of jihad and the caliphate by pointing to Turkey as an example of how Islam can coexist with democracy, and confidently predicting that soon the rest of the Islamic world would follow Turkey’s lead. Now they don’t talk about Turkey so much anymore.

“Turkey Threatens to Invade Greece,” by Uzay Bulut, Gatestone Institute, February 19, 2018:

…Referring to the days of the Ottoman Empire, Erdoğan went on:

“Those who think that we have erased from our hearts the lands from which we withdrew in tears a hundred years ago are wrong.

“We say at every opportunity we have that Syria, Iraq and other places in the geography [map] in our hearts are no different from our own homeland. We are struggling so that a foreign flag will not be waved anywhere where adhan [Islamic call to prayer in mosques] is recited.

“The things we have done so far [pale in comparison to the] even greater attempts and attacks [we are planning for] the coming days, inshallah [Allah willing].”…

Yes he has! He claims Morocco, and Morocco still claims ownership of the Iberian Peninsula, which means Spain and Portugal. The Ottomans once got as far as the gates of Vienna, which might also mean he would try for Austria. As you infer, the way things are right now, Europe might let him have them. After all, ‘we mustn’t be judgmental haters.’ Orban is looking more and more like El Cid.

CBG, he actually declared war on all countries that were part of the Ottoman Empire from Morocco to Mecca and from Vienna to Persia. He declared war on well over 30 countries.

Erdogan is a mad man, even a mad dog. Someone will have to put him on a strong leash. He is speaking as Hitler spoke before WWII about expansionism. Now that Germany has 4 million Turks living in Germany, it cannot disagree with a Turkish dictator without exciting Turkish immigrants who are friends of Erdogan.

The Western powers have to find a way to replace Erdogan through a coup d’état.

‘Orban is looking more and more like El Cid.’

I know what you mean, Richard, but let’s not forget that El Cid wasn’t always on ‘our’ side. He was a mercenary, who served in the army of the Moorish king of Zaragoza, and later commanded a combined army of Christians and Moors in order to create his own fiefdom in Valencia. I don’t think that Viktor Orban’s loyalties are quite so questionable!

        • gravenimage says

True, Stella–the historic El Cid was actually quite an equivocal figure.

you call the OTTOMAN EMPIRE a “glory”? —–it existed on the dead bodies of millions and on the
exploitation of hundreds of millions. Ataturk TRIED but failed badly. The filth of shariah was—-
even despite the efforts of Ataturk——imposed WIDELY to slightly varying degrees THRUOUT—-
ask a greek, as a Christian turk, ask any non muslim from the north African coutries that were part
      of the OTTOMAN EMPIRE.

      • Richard says

        Feb 21, 2018 at 8:40 pm

Ataturk succeeded with the upper-class city-dwelling Turks. The Turks living in the countryside never changed. Though they had no power, they had the same strong Islamic beliefs as the Turkish soldiers who marched barefoot into Russia in World War I. They now outnumber the liberal city-dwellers and they are getting their ideal leader in Hitler – excuse me, Erdogan. I cannot see how Turkey could begin to triumph over the rest of the world, but, looking at how Europe has collapsed before the demands of a few deadbeat Islamic rapist aliens, one cannot dismiss it.

        • StellaSaidSo says

          Feb 22, 2018 at 2:15 am

Yes, Ataturk’s modernisation of Turkey did not extend to the countryside, where the primitive barbarism of Islam survived, to regain its former dominance under the ‘sultan’ Erdogan. Current provocations are a direct threat to peace in the region, and demand a prompt and decisive response. Forget the ‘Ottoman slap’; it’s time to slap the Ottoman. Hard.

      • Richard says

        Feb 21, 2018 at 8:52 pm

Absolutely. If just a few things had gone differently (for instance, had Hitler not declared war on the U.S. after Pearl Harbor), he could have won. The idea of Turkey taking on the world and winning sounds nuts, but Frederick the Great singlehandedly defeated almost all of Europe in the Seven Years War. One thing the Muslims have that the West lacks is fanatical dedication. I had a liberal aunt who said we should convert to Islam so we could get cheaper oil! The Greeks were debating how Philip of Macedon could have possibly conquered all of Greece. I believe it was Demosthenes who answered in four words: “Greece talked. Philip acted.”

There are also a lot of Turks already in Europe, especially Germany. On the other side, we have 200 millions effeminate males in Europe. Capable for war, if we are lucky, 50 millions. Police, army forces in Europe, already penetrated by muslims. In case of conflict, in West Europe, big part of army will fight against Europe. Muslims in Europe dream to cut europeans in pieces and rape. Perhaps Jihad Watch readers should know that the Parthenon was once used as a Mosque! In 1456, Ottoman Turkish forces invaded Athens and conquered it. And near the close of the 15th Century, the Parthenon was made into a Mosque.
And just to prove the Muslim mind-set has not changed: The Turks stored gunpowder in the Parthenon, and when the Venetians laid siege to the Acropolis in 1687, one of the Venetian bombs hit the magazine, causing a huge explosion that destroyed a great part of the monument which had been preserved in a good condition until then.

So, using Mosques as weapons and munitions dumps. These clowns never change!

Christian churches and Jewish synagogues are converted to Mosques or destroyed and mosques built over them. Other uses for other religions holy sites have been latrines.

This is a symbol of Muslim superiority. As pointed out above, Erdogan’s pronouncement regarding the call to prayer indicates that he intends to continue this practice. If an area is inhabited or conquered by muslims, that area cannot be returned to the previous or any other non-muslim control. Hence the continued war against Israel. We now have mosques in the US, including former churches.

This opens a discussion that has not happened before. What happens when a NATO member attacks another, Cyprus excluded as it is not technically part of Greece? If Greece calls for a special council to force an abrogation of Turkey’s membership and enforces Article 5 of the Alliance, will the other nations agree. The problem with NATO is that it requires a one hundred percent vote to accept a new member and I am not sure but I would bet that the same rule applies to the ousting of a member. Turkey’s attack on the Greek islands is clearly an act of war upon Greece, period. Unlike Hussein, I don’t envision President Trump backing down to Erdogan like Hussein would have done.

During the Cold War, gravenimage, and specifically in the 1950’s and 60’s, when Turkey was still in full Ataturk mode and an inveterate opponent of the USSR, even though it was not a free nation (though definitely a far better polity than under the Ottomans), it was nonetheless, geopolitically and militarily, strategically placed to serve NATO quite well, even to the extent that it was invited into NATO (and shrewdly, I would argue, at the same time {1952} as Greece was).

And so let me ask you this question, were Turkey still an “Ataturk” country, rather than, sadly, an “Erdogan” country, would you still assert that Turkey should not ever have been made part of NATO?

I would argue that it is not Ataturk Turkey that should never have been in NATO in the first place, but rather Erdogan Turkey which should be kicked out of NATO, the sooner the better. Would be most interested in your response.

Sometimes, you know, alliances must be drawn with those not even remotely in full accord with your basic principles. No better example of this could be given than America and Britain’s alliance with Stalin in WWII. And surely, whatever faults Ataturk’s Turkey had (and they were many, foremost the continued denial of the Armenian Genocide), such faults still take a distant second place to the faults and nefarious influences that Lenin’s and Stalin’s USSR demonstrated, particularly when looked upon not by the perspective of a regional standard but a global one. Hence the logic of Turkey coming into NATO in 1952——-and which logic is no longer applicable because of 1) the ending of the Cold War; and 2) Erdogan.

Yes, I take your point, Wellington–I am well aware of the history of the Cold War, and know that Turkey in the 1950s was a much different place than it is today. A big part of it was Turkey’s historic enmity with Russia.

But even at the time there were disturbing aspects, like the Istanbul Pogrom against the few remaining Christian Greeks there.

Considering them an ally was never ideal–and in recent decades with Turkey fast Islamizing under Erdogan, it makes less sense all the time.

It appears to me, viewing from a distance, that the anti Islam population of the UK are just as powerless as Christians in Egypt: and they remain just as quietly castrated of their power. Since the most recent coup failed to remove the Islamic Terrorist Erdogan from office, he and his followers have come all the more radical. The U.S. should be moving its forces from Turkey to Greece. That would deprive Turkey of income derived from the U.S. for having bases there and make it easier to repel their planned attack on Greece. The U.S. should also stop providing $135000 per year to Turkey in humanitarian aid. The fact that Turkey could afford to build (and did built) a $100 million mosque and cultural center in Maryland (think forward operating base/proselytizing center) means they could be using the foreign mosque/operating base money as aid to their own poverty stricken citizens.

Look at how the Muslims throughout western countries violently protest Israel’s existence, claiming ‘Palestinian’ grievance. Erdogan is rabid with Islamic dreams of a caliphate. He is the spark that will light the fire.

Say there is a US attack on Turkey in retaliation for Turkish attacks on US troops in Iraq. Europe will burn hot due to its pre-existing ‘migrant’ warriors protesting US action. Erdogan hopes to march into the weakness created by this chaos. The nuclear powers (UK and France) are already infiltrated to the highest levels in order to avoid nuclear retaliation. Greece and Italy will fall with the touch of a feather and become a Turkish gateway. Germany will negotiate for appeasement and a divided population will be too weak to resist. France and Spain will resist, but not competently. The UK will sit on the sidelines, mute and Brexited. With the collapse of NATO, Putin will offer eastern Europe protection at a price. Chances are the US will bungle a last opportunity to form an alliance with eastern Europe and Poland, Czech, Hungary, Austria will be under siege from both east and west. Eventually, Putin takes them. Erdogan will drive Europe retrograde as quickly as he has driven Turkey backward. Erdogan dies, and then there is endless battle between factions who seek to inherit the Caliphate. The elites of Europe who brought this onto themselves fan out to remaining western nations, but adhere to their same failed notions and call for peace and appeasement.

Or maybe I’m just being pessimistic.

What? Turkey as of last year was ranked 8th in terms of global fire power among 133 countries. Conventional weapons that is, not taking into account nuclear nations. Not weak at all.

I’ve heard for a while now, they were the strongest military Islamic country for conventional forces. I believe that was before Obama sold $60 billion in military hardware to Saudi Arabia.

Even so, I would agree they can do nothing with their military against other nations. Attacking Israel gets them the most support among Islamic nations, but there’s that pesky fact about Israel’s nukes, along with at least matching conventional military strength, so that’s out. Attacking Greece or another European nation is likely going to get them in a fight with more than one nation in Europe.

Kicking them out of NATO is long overdue. Does anyone remember during the Iraq wars, Turkey denied their airspace to the U.S. and coalition forces to pass over? Clearly, their loyalty at that time was for a fellow Islamic nation over their commitment to NATO (no surprise there).

Russia will not accept Turkey as an alley with Erdogan in charge. They have learned the lesson in regards to trusting mad dictators.

Other states in the region will also keep their distance from Erdogan, so no political or economic options there.

With Turkey failing the islamists will try to take over the country. Since they are not the majority and don’t have the majority behind them this will end in civil war.

Since the military is clearly behind Erdogan his side will be strong in the beginning, but not strong enough to suppress the uprise of the islamists in the cities. Urban warfare doesn’t work very well in your own country.

Agreed Ray. By the way, I read a book published around 1993 that clearly pointed out how Iran and DPRK were working together on nuclear weapons and missiles. Unfortunately, I passed it on to someone else and lost track of it.

My conclusion is this: You do not see Iran testing nukes and warheads for missiles. They do not need to, as whatever NK learns is passed on to Iran, and vice versa. Once fatso can demonstrate a deliverable warhead, with or without decoys, Iran will start building them as well. No need to test, they are both using the same designs. Both do not see it, but they are proxies for China and Russia, who has helped both with certain areas of technology.

Guy, Thanks for the comment. You are certainly correct about Russia and China. I do not trust either one and I keep hoping that they will go to war with one another but I that my chances of winning a hundred million dollars in a lottery are better than those two going at each other.

Isn’t their a fanatic evangelical American Christian in the USA Airforce that can arm a F22 or a stealth bomber with a tactical nuke and drop one on that Turks head?..

Then his Ottoman Empire will burn in hell along with these Islamic pedophiles.

I believe Islam is a political movement cloaked in a religion. It goes back as far as the first Crusade. All Crusades were intended to retake the Holy Land from the Muslims, who had seized it from them in the first instance. Erdogan gives us the clue.

The Grecians should have claim to all if not most of Turkey if historical facts are presenting. This guy is dangerous and European countries and leadership should stand firm against his words. I believe his thinking will damage Greece. Greeks should fortify their eastern boundaries…heed his words

Islamic countries, esp, would have embarked on a criminal Jehaad against non-Muslim countries ALL OVER THE GLOBE (as required by their book)… IF NOT FOR THE FEAR OF THE USA….

Love the USA or hate it…… It is the only nation that still gives hope for the good and the decent people of this world regarding the future. We, the citizens of the free world, esp those outside of the USA, should defend this LAST BASTION OF HOPE to our deaths…..

This should be the last straw, so to speak.

He needs to be kicked out of NATO – NOW.

And the Islamoresistant politicians in Europe – the few that there are – ought to be calling for ALL Turkish Muslim funding of mosques and other organisations anywhere in Europe to be stopped, NOW; for ALL entry of Muslims from Turkey into any part of Europe, to be stopped, NOW; for all non-citizen Turkish Muslims to be expelled, and those currently possessing citizenship, interned, pending a change in the laws to permit *their* deportation, also.

And to whom is this call to prayer, this adhan, directed?

    To their god allah….

who commands his followers to murder infidels k2:191

who curses the Jews and the Christians k9:30

who commands muslims not to be friends with “infidels”
“Oh ye who believe!Take not the Jews and Christians for friends” koran 5:51

This “allah” is obviously NOT the Biblical God!

Given the true nature of “allah” and his “holy” koran and his murderously evil false “prophet” muhammed..

This adhan: wherever it is recited, satan must be nearby..

The adhan is NOT a call to prayer to the True Biblical Judeo Christian God:it is to their god “allah”.

It is the 1930s again in Europe.
All the pieces are falling into place.
This time, the ‘Jews’ are ethnic Europeans.
Europe is politically impotent, and its military is an invasion escort service.
    Get ready to rumble.

Mostly agree, though i’d say that Jews are still “the Jews”.

Remember, Nazism was very bad for many Germans in general. It was pretty easy to get yourself in serious trouble by expressing any kind of anti-hitler / anti-party sentiment.

So, will he raise the Janissary corps also. Christian boys from Serbia, Bulgaria, and Macedonia will be
captured, forcibly snatched from their weeping relatives, converted to Islam and trained to expand the empire in Europe. This is not an empty warning. The recent Muslim influx into Europe is a part of this plan.

What amazes me is that so few people have recognized the fact that thousands of mosques, and the Islamic call to prayer (screeched 5 times a day), are located right here in the good ole USA.

Europe has definitely got a problem, as does Israel…but so do we! Do you think Erdogan wasn’t including the USA in that threat?

Anyone ever hear the phrase “Death to America” being chanted by the Moslems!

    WAKE UP!
