Most Americans today get their news through Facebook, and so the Leftist authoritarian Mark Zuckerberg’s words here are ominous: “For example, take the Wall Street Journal or New York Times. Even if you don’t read them or don’t agree with everything they write, most people have confidence that they’re high quality journalism. On the flip side, there are blogs that have intense followings but are not widely trusted beyond their core audience. We will show those publications somewhat less.”
That means us, friends, however unjustified that lack of trust may be, and others whom the hard-Left censors at Facebook deem unworthy of your attention. Foes of jihad terror are on their block list, but here is a way you can adjust your settings so that you still get the news we report here:
“Facebook’s Changing Your Newsfeed. Here’s How To Make Sure You Still See Posts By Your Favorite Sites.,” by James Barrett, Daily Wire, January 26, 2018 (thanks to the Geller Report):
Facebook recently announced that it will be making major changes to its newsfeed that will significantly impact what users see. The emphasis, CEO Mark Zuckerberg explained, will be on posts from users’ friends and family, as well as what Facebook calls “trusted sources.”
Those “trusted sources,” however, are not necessarily going to be the same pages and news sites that users follow; rather, they are sources that Facebook designates as “trusted” through what it says will be rankings produced by “a diverse and representative” sample of Facebook users (see full post below). Which sources are “trusted sources” and which are not, is unclear. Sources not deemed “trusted” — even those you choose to follow — will get buried or de-emphasized in your newsfeed.
But there’s a way to make sure that Facebook does not prevent you from seeing posts by your favorite sites. Below are the instructions for how to update your Facebook settings so that your newsfeed prioritizes posts by sites you follow, like The Daily Wire, rather than letting the platform determine what you get to see.
1. On your Facebook homepage, click the drop-down arrow on the top right of the page and select “News Feed Preferences” (usually found near the bottom of the listed options).
2. Select “Prioritize who to see first” (usually the first option listed).
3. Change the view options to show “Pages only,” so it’s easier to find the pages for the sites you prefer to see in your newsfeed. Then simply select the pages you wish to see first in your newsfeed.
Another way to protect your newsfeed: Go to the Facebook page of the site you want to follow, click the “Following” drop-down arrow, and check the “See First” option “In Your News Feed.”
After you’ve protected your newsfeed to make sure you’re still seeing posts from your favorite sources, the other extremely important thing you can do to make sure those sources don’t get buried by Facebook is share posts with friends and family.
Here is an excerpt of the message posted by Zuckerberg explaining the platform’s new emphasis on promoting “trusted” news sources in order to protect against “sensationalism, misinformation and polarization” (full post below):
There’s too much sensationalism, misinformation and polarization in the world today. Social media enables people to spread information faster than ever before, and if we don’t specifically tackle these problems, then we end up amplifying them. That’s why it’s important that News Feed promotes high quality news that helps build a sense of common ground.
The hard question we’ve struggled with is how to decide what news sources are broadly trusted in a world with so much division. We could try to make that decision ourselves, but that’s not something we’re comfortable with. We considered asking outside experts, which would take the decision out of our hands but would likely not solve the objectivity problem. Or we could ask you — the community — and have your feedback determine the ranking.
We decided that having the community determine which sources are broadly trusted would be most objective.
Here’s how this will work. As part of our ongoing quality surveys, we will now ask people whether they’re familiar with a news source and, if so, whether they trust that source. The idea is that some news organizations are only trusted by their readers or watchers, and others are broadly trusted across society even by those who don’t follow them directly. (We eliminate from the sample those who aren’t familiar with a source, so the output is a ratio of those who trust the source to those who are familiar with it.)
This update will not change the amount of news you see on Facebook. It will only shift the balance of news you see towards sources that are determined to be trusted by the community.

Oh come on Andy! Think of the benefits of having your arse go up and down – you get your Zebibah shined with no extra effort, and in time will have buttocks the envy of a Kardashian and with a little practice be able to do the Bagpipes handsfree, as long as you remember to insert the pipe appropriately first! Among the many practical benefits of being muzz.
PS – I was in a mosk in Turkey a few years back and was appalled at the stench during the arse-lifting bit. The arse-lifters were an older crowd and apparently alla and m0 hadn’t devised a method to control flatulence amongst the aging. alla must be too busy re-cycling virgins to meet the ever increasing demand from the hordes of new Holy warriors entering muzz-paradise.

Good on you.
Well, as for the arse stink, this is why the Japanese figured out how to bow, in Karate-do,
we make sure we bow correctly….not with the arse up in the air. We are tidy, clean, and respectful in the dojo, which is a far superior experiential location than any “mosk” full of mollusks and musk oxen.

I finally gave up with facebook. I started using it while at university, it was soon booming and everybody was over it. But I hadn’t give a post and or a picture about me since more than 5 years now. I was just using it to follow some favorite news/blog/cultural informations. Some of the groups I loved were simply deleted, because facebook does not tolerate criticizing or even talking about Islam. So the other day I didn’t understand why was I still there to try to follow the informations I like, and soon I deleted me. Maybe is time to move on, and come back to the old days of the blogsphere, where you could follow everybody you wanted and nobody was telling you what was your interests. I know that facebook is much more simple and permit a really easy way to start sharing informations within a group, in a much better way than it was possible withing blogs, but those days are over for me. In the last year I have seen so many good groups to be cut off. I don’t know what is the solution, because facebook has some good points to reach an impact on people in a faster/easier way, but with this fact that it want to controls not what people is saying, but what people is listening, I don’t like it anymore and cannot see a way to continue over there.

Joe says
Facebook has a good concept, but they have poor implementation. Everyone wants to keep up with friends and family, but it is the relationship that is user to user that makes the experience rewarding.
Since Facebook inserts itself and others into the middle of the relationship, they earn all the hatred that they get.
Many people drop off Facebook or use it infrequently because it puts them at odds with their friends and family. Every relationship is unique. People have to have different conversations with different people which is something that Facebook makes little effort to deliver. Yes, they have a few things, but the priorities are wrong and the interface is clumsy.
It is sad, because Facebook has a lock on social media. They own Instagram, Whatsapp, and others. So social media is frozen with a bad experience.

That is a very interesting viewpoint!

Robert Spencer on deepened Christian Faith, on C-SPAN interview
(regarding documentary: “Islam: what the West needs to know”)

( @ Minute Marker 54:00 )
Robert Spencer reveals how his study of Islam has deepened his appreciation for Christianity and deepened his belief in the Faith.
Q&A with Robert Spencer on C-SPAN:
Robert Spencer talked about his observations of the religion of Islam. He took part in a recent documentary by Quixotic Media, Islam: What the West Needs to Know, and said the film examines the religion of Islam, its main tenants and its relationship with other religions. Several clips from the film were shown, including clips in the documentary of President Bush, President Clinton and others describing Islam as a peaceful religion. Spencer strongly disagreed with these sentiments and quoted extensively from the Koran to show that portions of the holy book of Islam mandate violence and explained that the West should be very concerned about the spread of international jihad Islam.
Mr. Spencer has written several books on Islam.
Interviewer BRIAN LAMB:
What’s it done to your own thinking and your own religion?
Guest ROBERT SPENCER:
Well, I think that actually the more that I’ve studied the religion of Islam the more convinced I’ve become of the truth of Christianity actually because there are many people who content that the figure of Christ as depicted in the New Testament is substantially mythologized and sanitized by his followers.
But in studying the Islamic text about Muhammad I see that the followers don’t necessarily have any mandate to sanitize the figure of the founder at all. Muhammad is portrayed unapologetically and celebrated as a warrior, as a brutal warrior, and as a conqueror and so on.
And that made me come to realize actually that when it came to the Christian texts that probably they would have acted the same way in not sanitizing the example of the founder but taking it to be normative and that made me only more impressed with the figure of Christ as in the Gospels.

Here is how you can circumvent Facebook’s block on Jihad Watch
………………….
The problem is that most Facebook users wil not know to do this–and so many people will lose these news sources unless they specifically look for them.
Karen says
Facebook says, “We decided that having the community determine which sources are broadly trusted would be most objective.”
Sounds so warm and fuzzy and safe and nurturing. But this is actually what Hamilton and other Federalists called “the tyranny of the majority”, where majority rule silences minority voices, or what *appear* to be minority voices.
Since when is truth determined by majority vote? The majority are wrong very frequently. Hasn’t Mark Zuckerberg heard of the contrarian viewpoint? I don’t need anyone okaying my reading material.
This is one heck of a slippery slope. And a dangerous one.
LeftisruiningCanada says
“shift the balance of news you see towards sources that are determined to be trusted by the community.”
Because remember, for a Fascist, the community discovers and determines it’s truth through conversation.
Save Europe says
Nice one, Robert ???
Vann Boseman says
To my knowledge, so far, I’ve only been blocked once by FB. That was concerning Judicial Watch. When that happened, I made sure to make posts condemning it.
Thank you Robert Spencer for helping me prioritize what I see.
Thank you Andy for the video.
For me, your voice is similar to your vote. I do not agree with anyone I know of on everything, but still I believe I count as one. FB is a way to reach out to people associated with you in some kind of way. FB itself is against you having your voice as one person if it doesn’t coincide with their voice. The game is rigged, but if you don’t play, you are guaranteed to lose.
I believe that people having their say is important, even if FB has the right to attempt to muzzle your voice. If the US government offers them exclusive rights that their competitors do not have, then that is wrong, because FB fails too much at being neutral in allowing free speech. The solution is to speak out loud and often. For me, if I turned my back on FB because of their unfairness, I would be obliged to find a different forum.
I stand with Christians, Hindus, Sikhs, atheists, intellectuals, and Jihad Watch against Islam. I have a right to speak out as one voice. Islam does not do well in the light. It must hide in order to flourish among people who think. Often, people do not like to think. It makes them uncomfortable. I believe that if everyone I stand with posted as much as I do on FB, that more people would have to think concerning Islam and the world would be a better place.
When people decide to not vote, or have anything to say, it is often believed that they do not believe that voting or having something to say will improve their situation.
In the 1860 election, many in the South that could have voted, declined to do so. Not totally unrelated to this, hundreds of thousands people died in a war as soldiers on one side or another. Those in the South that did not vote suffered too. Women, children, and black people starved to death during that war and for a long time after. But things were not just that bad, things were worse than that.
Salt was famously recognized by General Sherman early on. The North very successfully limited the consumption of salt in the South driving the price to as high as $50 per pound. There was often not enough salt to preserve meat and other food, so food spoiled. Everyone then and now saw acknowledged that. Other things would not be known for a long time. Starvation lowers one’s immune system to opportunistic infections, like malaria. The North did studies early in the war and discovered a history of malaria lowered one’s immune system to opportunistic infections. Nutritional deficits are often associated with starvation. In the South, that manifested as pellagra (The four ds of pellagra are dermatitis, dementia, diarrhea, and death.) and hookworm. Hookworm (the scientific name for the worm translates to “American Killer.”) was worst of all.
Salt was used to tan leather. Southerners learned early in the war to decline recruiting poor men with “ground itch” (One’s feet itching is one of the first symptoms of hookworm.) who, due to the warm climate of the South often went barefoot. Without salt, especially after the fall of Vicksburg, shoes were in short supply, even by the military. Studies of skeletal remains have detected hookworms and indicate widespread infection during this period. Hookworm loads of over 100 cause mental and physical retardation in children and severe sluggishness in adults. The South developed a reputation of being populated by slow-witted and lazy people. By the beginning of the twentieth century, the problem was identified. Eighty percent of the population of the South was discovered to have hookworm. The problem was remedied and the labor force of the South measurably improved.
The point of expounding on this disease ecology is that I can’t tell you how bad it is that you do not speak your mind. I do not know if the nature of the Civil War would have been any different if the voting population of the South had voted in 1860 either. But I think that for evil to flourish, good people must choose to remain silent.
Karen says
I’ve been in the ‘ignore FB’ camp, because I usually don’t use it anyway, and feel that abstaining from use is one kind of voice. But your argument is very persuasive, and has given me a lot to think about. It’s unlikely that hundreds of millions of FB users will drop it for any reason, so, I just might become a persistent FB user and try to make my voice heard by them.
Just as an aside, the studies you cite are very interesting. Just recently I read of some similar studies that have been done over the years on survivors of the WWII death camps, and the many illnesses and eating disorders they have suffered due to the starvation conditions they endured.
