The article, “Fear and silence,” by Stanford student Terence Zhao in the Stanford Daily, February 5, 2018, contains this sentence:
The Review then sent the article over to none other than Robert Spencer, noted right-wing bigot and agitator for violence, considered by the UK to be a national security threat and banned from entering, who spread the false report amongst his coalition of deplorables.
I just sent this email to the Stanford Daily’s Editor-in-Chief Hannah Knowles and other editors, as well as to its President Marc Tessier-Lavigne and Provost Persis Drell:
To whom it may concern:Today your columnist Terence Zhao libeled me in the Stanford Daily. In his piece here: https://www.stanforddaily.com/2018/02/05/fear-and-silence/, Mr. Zhao writes:“The Review then sent the article over to none other than Robert Spencer, noted right-wing bigot and agitator for violence, considered by the UK to be a national security threat and banned from entering, who spread the false report amongst his coalition of deplorables.”This sentence contains numerous false claims.1. The Review did not send me the article about Professor Palumbo-Liu. I have, in fact, never had any contact with the Stanford Review.2. I am neither “right-wing” nor a “bigot,” but these are familiar smear terms employed by the likes of Mr. Zhao.3. I have never agitated for violence, condoned it, or approved of it. This claim that I am an “agitator for violence” is false and libelous. Kindly withdraw it, and publish a public retraction and apology.4. I was not banned from Britain as a “national security threat,” as even the article Mr. Zhao links indicated. I was banned for stating facts that are unacceptable to be stated in Britain today.I will look for your retraction and apology in tomorrow’s issue.Thank you.Robert Spencer
Zhao’s article continues: “Next thing we know, a respected Stanford professor and his family are getting death threats all because of completely unsubstantiated slander from a student group that disagrees with his views.”
I highly doubt that Palumbo-Liu has received any death threats. That is the behavior of the Left — his friends. I ask him or Zhao to substantiate that he got any, and that they came from anyone connected with Jihad Watch.
I posted a comment on Zhao’s piece, noting his libel. Stanford Daily, predictably, did not publish it.
