This is, as CNN would likely tell us, probably the work of a “white supremacist,” but there is just the off-chance that it’s a jihad attack, given that Dagestan is a Muslim area, and the killer opened fire outside a church, at a Russian folk festival. Those are targets jihadis would love.
“5 killed, including gunman, in shooting at festival in southern Russia – reports,” RT, February 18, 2018:
Four people have been killed and four others injured in a gun attack on a festival crowd in Dagestan in southern Russia, according to RIA and Interfax news agencies. The shooter was reportedly also killed.
The shooting happened in the city of Kizlyar, a provincial capital in the Republic of Dagestan, Interfax reported citing a local source. The gunman opened fire at a group of people celebrating the Russian folk festival of Maslenitsa, the source said.
An eyewitness to the shooting, Oksana, told RT it happened right in front of a Christian church. The gunman targeted people as they were leaving, but luckily many of the churchgoers managed to take cover inside the building, giving more time for the security guards to respond to the attack. She said the gunman was killed as he was attempting to flee the scene.
Security forces guarding the event opened fire on the attacker and killed him, the source said, adding that three of the four people injured in the incident were the guards. However, RIA Novosti says that the four fatalities were all civilians. They were reportedly coming back from a Sunday church service….

Gradually it will become the new normal in the West to have armed guards outside churches.
Not long afterwards people will forget that there had been a time without them.

Outside?

Yup, this is the mechanism. This the way of the muslim brotherhood. Build mosques in a non-muslim country, push as much islam as possible! When a setback comes … just step back and wait. Meanwhile western children will be growing up, seeing the mosques in their environment and islam around them. It will all seem perfectly natural to them, like a building in your city that was constructed the year you were born: you will – probably – never reflect over it if that building radically changed the form of your city.
So, like this another fifty or hundred years will go by. Then there will be time for more pushes, more things from islam, which, once again will seem perfectly natural to the children growing up then, when this this things are well established. This is the way Turkey was made muslim – it took several hundred years, but the country fell. Read up on it, people!
This is why the muslim brotherhood are more of a danger than ISIS. We can take a bomb and get out bruised and battered, but we will still stand. The constant eroding of anything not-islam, on the other hand, is a tactic for which we have no defense. Almost no western youth give a second thought how their country will be in a hundred years. They should. Muslim combatants like these think in hundreds of years, and we don’t think longer than our next facebook-post.
his strategy is why we lose. And remember: the goals of the brotherhood are the same as the goals of ISIS. They just don’t need the violence and the unlawfulness. In stead, they take things inch by inch, notch by notch. and in a hundred years, they will kill the non-muslims, with the law authorizing them to do so, since they will have changed it to suit their needs.
In short, it is not possible to defend the west if it is not seen as an idea worth fighting for and preserving. Most people either hate the west or have no clue here.
Here is a translation exercise on the matter: Gutta cavat lapidem non vi, sed saepe cadendo.

Good post.
Sad, but good.

Our church already has armed guards. The ushers are equipped with radios so they can summon help where it is needed. I am not sure, but I hope that there is also a security team of armed church members in the sanctuary who can respond immediately. We definitely have a medical team of church members who care for ill parishioners until the ambulance arrives.

Ill? What are the odds your congregation will suddenly come down with the flu at the same time it’s attacked by Muslim shooters?
Are your “armed guards” rented from the local company down the street? That’s not security.
Your flock needs one full-time protection specialist who is bad-ass, armed all the time, a great trainer and leader. And the church needs to be pay him well. This bad-ass needs to select, train, and lead a team of dedicated shooters who go to your church so they can immediately engage and defeat in detail any and all armed/dangerous ass-holes.
That goes for all o’ ya.

And your security leader/team should not be led by or made up of off-duty cops. Their response will be to wait for the on-duty cops and to follow other dangerously stupid response protocol, adherence to which will only add to the body-count.

I first noticed this on the RT site. There was an alleged perp photo, but it was just a body in camo, no head in the frame. Although other news sources refer to the area as “muslim-majority,” that was as close to fingering a jihadi that anyone got in the sources that I checked. The STAN in Dagestan gives you a hint.
I know I’m jumping to conclusions, but it looks like another fearless jihadi slaughtering unarmed, unsuspecting victims, and taking a quick trip to paradise courtesy of the cops. These “holy warriors” and their fans are the scum of the scum of humanity.

Nobody remembers Beslan.
I have been reading the After Action Review of the Pulse Nightclub shooting and – predictably – everybody did everything perfectly.
Except…
The detective on-scene at the time, remained in the parking lot and tried to engage the shooter from there, refusing to close the distance and improve his chances of getting some effective fire into Mateen. Rather than go into the club alone, the detective waited an unstated amount of time for the arrival of other cops and then together they went into the club. During the wait outside, Mateen was killing people inside.
A second entry team formed over the span of several minutes – as opposed to each individual officer immediately entering on his own to find, fix and destroy the shooter(s) – but waited until they had determined the location of the shooter before entering. While the second entry team waited outside – choosing to be able to go directly and safely to the shooter instead of hunting him down like a rabid dog – Mateen was inside the club killing people.
There are other errors made by cops and by those who reviewed their actions and found no fault in them. Certainly, there were brave officers there who did their duty, led by the highest moral imperative, but – again – overall it’s been proven that cops will not follow the example of the Russian responders to the Beslan terrorists:
1. Don’t worry about helmets and body armor, get in the building
2. Once in the building, find the shooter(s)
3. Once shooter(s) are found, do whatever it takes to end their destruction even if a few innocent people are injured/killed in the process.
You’re on your own out there, people.

This report must be wrong. Everyone knows that mass shootings only happen in the gun ridden US and always by someone who has been bullied, never by a Muslim.
