This was long overdue. McMaster held to the Obama view that Islamic jihad terrorism has nothing to do with Islam, and that we mustn’t offend Muslims by noting the obvious fact that there are numerous Islamic texts and teachings that exhort Muslims to wage war against unbelievers.
You cannot defeat an enemy that you don’t understand, much less refuse to understand. We can only hope that this change will lead to a more realistic appraisal of the jihad threat.
“Trump replacing McMaster with Bolton,” Associated Press, March 22, 2018:
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is replacing national security adviser H.R. McMaster with John Bolton, a former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.
Trump tweets that McMaster has done “an outstanding job & will always remain my friend.” He says Bolton will take over April 9.
Trump has repeatedly clashed with McMaster, a respected three-star general, and talk that McMaster would soon leave the administration had picked up in recent weeks….
Daniel Triplett says
Good riddance.
Would like to see Kelly and Mattis replaced too.
mortimer says
One thing at a time. Trump takes a LONG TIME to fire someone, as he has said in the past … up to two years to fire someone.
McMaster is a NATIVIST career officer who believes in PLAYING ALONG with the client army’s country.
This is a good MILITARY strategy, but not a good POLITICAL strategy to stop JIHAD.
Daniel Triplett says
I prefer the military strategies of career officers such as William T. Sherman, John “Black Jack” Pershing, Curtis E. Lemay, and George S. Patton.
There’s no room in war for snowflake Generals.
mortimer says
Daniel, the story about Pershing is rubbish. Pershing was a religious, refined, honorable gentleman and would not have stooped to dishonoring the deceased enemies.
The story slanders him. You are shockingly callous to repeat it and be in favor of disrespecting the remains of soldiers.
You have not served.
Undaunted says
+1. Amen.
Daniel Triplett says
WTF are you talking about?
John J. Pershing was a respected Army General for a variety of reasons.
Where in my post am I repeating any story that’s rubbish? Who said I’m “in favor of disrespecting the remains of soldiers?”
And yes, I have served. USAF Major; 12 years; 6 years Afghanistan/Iraq
Who in the hell are you to be lecturing me about my service?
gravenimage says
Daniel and Jay Boo, Mortimer is almost certainly refering to the story about Pershing that he executed attacking Muslims in the Philippines with bullets dipped in pig’s blood. This story is indeed almost certainly apocryphal.
I don’t think Mortimer was impugning Pershing’s *actual* record.
LeftisruiningCanada says
A serviceman would no doubt know better than i, but would cartridges even load and fire reliably if they were dipped in any kind of blood?
My semi autos can be pretty finicky sometimes without being covered in a sticky quick drying fluid.
LeftisruiningCanada says
ok, i see that they were using bolt action 5 cartridge mag rifles, pump action shotguns, revolvers and an automatic, no semi auto.
http://www.morolandhistory.com/05.pg-kris-vs-krag/3.american_longarms.htm
Still, the bolt action might not like the blood on the cartridges, though the revolvers and single shot wouldn’t care too much.
Wasn’t the whole story about buying enemy corpses with pig bits though, and not shooting them with blood covered bullets?
gravenimage says
Yes, LeftisruiningCanda–that story is also told as burying Jihadists in pig parts.
One clue that a story is likely dodgy is often that there are several different versions floating around.
Phil Copson says
Trump hasn’t got a long time to play with – with a US Presidential term being only four years, he hasn’t a moment to waste.
The enemies of the Free World – such as Iran and Pakistan – have all the time in the world to play with though, as their leaderships – and any replacements in the pipeline – share a common purpose and a common ideology and will wait as long as it takes to secure their goals.
Western governments – forever in search of the “quick fix”, tomorrow’s head-lines, and next year’s election – seem almost entirely to have lost the ability to think strategically, and just take a series of incremental decisions that aren’t in their own long interests.
Obama, Clinton, Carter, Blair, Brown, Cameron, Clegg, May, Merkel, Lofven, Rutte, Hollande, Macron etc will increasingly be revealed to have been the most malign and catastrophic generation of politicians that the West has ever produced.
Compared to them, Trump probably is a “stable genius”….he could scarcely be worse.
Daniel Triplett says
With the shifting demographic trends, DJT may be our last Republican POTUS ever. No Democrat on the horizon will ever confront global evil (it’s not FDR’s party anymore).
DJT has the motivation and balls to do it. And you’re right, time is short.
Worldwide forced Islamic proscription is the only long term solution. Let’s face it, and get it over with.

I put “Islam” into the Institute’s search engine and it came up with this list of articles by its authors:

Thanks for the link and the info. However, John Bolton is a neocon
by philosophy and the neocon philosophy is not known to confront the threat of islamic jihadism but to carry out wars of regime-change against secular dictators. The illegal war in Iraq was started 15 years ago this week by the US neocons and it is still raging after millions are dead and that country is still divided. The same can be said about the pro-jihadist wars in Libya and Syria. Please watch the timely discussion of the commemoration of the neocon-instigated Iraq war on the link below and you will learn a lot:

Felix Quigley says
Has Bolton changed? That is the question that needs answering.
There is no question that Gatestone Institute is a useful site indeed. But the practice of Bolton in relation to Iraq and especially Libya is a very severe warning.
Bolton has never made a critique of what he did there.
In Iraq Bolton either led Bush, or went along with Bush, inthe war on and removal of Saddam.
Saddam was not a threat to America. So the war by Bush was entirely mischievous.
Now it so happens that Saddam was the biggest enemy of anybody int he world of the Iranian Jihadist supremacists. If serious about the war on Jihad then such a person must have needed to be kept close.
This applies even more to Libya and Gadhafi. Bush and Blair to their credit actually saw after many years of their neocon mischief on the world scene that Gadhafi WAS an ally against the Jihad, and that was why they REACHED AN AGREEMENT with Gadhafi.
That AGREEMENT was shattered by Cameron, Sarkozy with Obama a somewhat hesitant follower of those two, or at leas tit seemed that way to me…Obama often being a reluctant Neocon, but Cameron expressing the bloodthirsty Brits leadership.
Now the thing is Bolton was always playing the same tune, and has never ever changed, even to the recent years he has held on to these severe mistakes.
Judging by what Trump said in the campaign for election I am surprised he picked Bolton.
Bolton more than anybody is responsible for the ISIS suppression of the Yazedis and much more.
A real mystery that Trump picked him.
But whatever about that please do not try to revise this past history. Too many have died at the hands of ISIS and others like ISIS.

Nope! For the neocon Bolton, to forcibly overthrow so-called secular “dictators” like Maduro, Assad, Kim etc is a very high priority than facing the real global islamic jihadist threat. The US neocons and Liberal interventionists deeply collaborate with islamic jihadists and many times use the jihadists to overthrow secular regimes they don’t like and Syria, Libya, Egypt and the Balkans are great examples of this collaboration.

US neocon foreign policy makers, like Bolton can be very dangerous and very crazy indeed. For instance, the pro-islamist neocons and their MSM mouthpiece in the US recently attacked Trump for phoning and congratulating president Putin for his re-election while openly celebrating the visit of the blood-soaked Saudi dictator to the white house. You likely know already, but Mr Putin also has one, as do so many other leaders from around the world.
“Mr Putin said it was a great honour for him to receive this high decoration from the Kingdom. The President praised King Abdullah’s efforts to develop the ties between Russia and Saudi Arabia and also noted his role in giving Russia observer status in the Organisation of the Islamic Conference.”

christianblood says
LeftisruiningCanada
The bowing of both Obama and Trump to the Saudi head-choppers
is rich in symbolism as it shows the profound American and Western hypocrisy and double standards! For example, US and the West are arming the Saudi head-choppers to bomb Yemen, a poor Arab country where tens thousands of civilians are murdered by US-backed and US and UK-directed Saudi jets provided and in many cases piloted by Westerners. Where is human rights that the West preaches in other scenarios?
The US “deep state” neocon establishment and its MSM mouthpiece in the US recently attacked Trump for phoning and congratulating president Putin for his re-election while openly celebrating the visit of the blood-soaked Saudi dictator to the white house. I doesn’t surprise me at all that some people here who can’t stand the current President of the USA would jump at the chance to attack him for a simple matter of protocol, while they don’t say very much at all about something more important.
What do you think this means?
I do find it interesting that it has become so significant in some quarters that someone stooping out of politeness to allow another head of State to place an award on them has completely overshadowed the fact that this same medal has been awarded to so many other heads of State.
It is perfectly possible that Mr Putin is simply shorter than Mr Trump, so did not feel it necessary to stoop when receiving the very same award.
It matters little in the scheme of things i think.

Let us all agree with the two paragraphs of your introduction.
Firstly, that is Islamic jihad terrorism has something to do with Islam, and that no offence is meant to Muslims by noting the obvious fact that there are numerous Islamic texts and teachings that exhort Muslims to wage war against unbelievers.( and if Muslims want to feel offended when they do not need to and want to play the victim it will not be accepted )

Personally, I’m GLAD that bald headed eagle is gone!! He is not the honest military man that everyone thinks he is. He got rid of ALL of the people that were “loyal” to Trump who advised him on the dangers of Islam and Islamic terrorism. This clown did much damage while in the white house… Maybe Trump was blinded by all those medals on his chest….but here are the people he got rid of: Rich Higgins, a former Pentagon official who served in the NSC’s strategic-planning office as a director for strategic planning, was let go on July 21. Higgins’s memo describes supposed domestic and international threats to Trump’s presidency, including globalists, bankers, the “deep state,” and Islamists. The memo characterizes the Russia story as a plot to sabotage Trump’s nationalist agenda. It asserts that globalists and Islamists are seeking to destroy America. The memo also includes a set of recommendations, arguing that the problem constitutes a national-security priority.
2. Derek Harvey was the key figure when it came to the Middle East. He was against the Iran Deal and the funding of Palestinian Authority terror. He called out Islamic Jihad. He tried to force out the Obama holdovers running our foreign policy.
And now he’s gone. McMaster’s purge at the NSC continues. Flynn’s people get forced out and replaced with establishment zombies. The Obama holdovers continue to run foreign policy. The swamp is now in full control of the NSC. A great loss for America. It will set back our ability to fight Islamic terrorism. Iran, Al Qaeda and the Palestinian Authority are celebrating today.
Harvey has experience as an intelligence officer, as an analyst at military commands, American embassies, and in the Defense Intelligence Agency. He’s viewed as an out-of-the-box thinker who has shown a keen knack for identifying threats before they’ve matured. Harvey hasn’t been afraid to call out Islamic terrorism as a threat. And he was the point man for trying to force out the Obama holdovers. Instead the holdovers forced him out. McMaster and Mattis and Obama won. Again.
Harvey has been a firm opponent of the Iran Deal. He’s not perfect on Islam, but he has emphasized the theological connection to Islamic terrorism. And he tried to halt the funding of Palestinian Authority terrorism.
3. Ezra Cohen-Watnick, one of President Trump’s top allies on the National Security Council and an Iran hawk, has been dismissed from his position, a White House official said on Wednesday.
The 31-year-old Cohen-Watnick was brought on as senior director for intelligence on the NSC by former national security adviser Michael Flynn. In that role, Cohen-Watnick reportedly pushed for a tougher foreign policy stance on Iran. He was also a leading proponent of the theory that Obama holdovers have targeted Trump with strategic leaks of classified information. 31-year-old Cohen-Watnick was brought on as senior director for intelligence on the NSC by former national security adviser Michael Flynn. McMaster basically has this list and over the next two weeks he’s going to phase out” more senior officials loyal to Trump, said one administration insider intimately familiar with the upheaval occurring at the White House National Security Council. “They’re taking out people who were chosen to best implement the president’s policy that he articulated during the campaign.”
A source described the Trump administration’s Iran policy as “completely gutted” in the aftermath of these firings.
“These were people who fought for Trump’s election since he was nominated,” said one of the multiple sources in close contact with the NSC. “Many of these people were in Trump Tower during the period between the election and inauguration. These are people who gave up everything to support him against Hillary [Clinton], and these are the people being purged by McMaster.”
“This is not how you treat people who do that,” the source said.
GOOD RIDDANCE TO THIS TRASH AND TRAITEROUS JACKASS-MCMASTER!

This is a very good article, in parts, and here the past of Bolton on Saddam is most instructive for us in the present and going forward with Trump…
“The Bush administration, with Bolton as undersecretary of state for arms control, arrived in Washington, D.C., in 2001 with the goal of invading Iraq. They weren’t motivated by whatever WMDs Iraq might or might not have, but, as a senior administration official later explained, by the simple and highly galling fact of Saddam Hussein’s “defiance” of the U.S.
When the September 11 terrorist attacks gave them the opportunity, the administration’s conservative wing, including Bolton, had no interest in sending inspectors to Iraq to see if Hussein had WMD. They wanted to simply use WMD as “justification you can jump on” to invade — without bothering to check whether Iraq actually had anything. (It was only in the fall of 2002 that Colin Powell and Tony Blair prevailed upon Bush to go to the United Nations and go through the motions of inspections.)”

Felix Quigley says
And those who follow Bolton today need to factor in these realities, all of whom have created a situation that has strengthened Iran, Hezbollah, Hamas and the EU fascist Antisemties…
“1. Bolton supported the 2002 invasion of Iraq and still thinks it was a dandy idea. As undersecretary of state for arms control and international security affairs, Bolton was largely responsible for the deception used to justify the invasion of Iraq, a stratagem that Trump has condemned in no uncertain terms. “They lied,” Trump said during a presidential debate in February 2016. “They said there were weapons of mass destruction. There were none, and they knew there were none.” Bolton is not only a liar, according to Trump, but a liar who does not learn from his big, fat mistakes. “I still think the decision to overthrow Saddam was correct,” he told The Washington Examiner in 2015.
2. Bolton supported the U.S. intervention in the Libyan civil war. In 2011, while seeking the Republican presidential nomination, Bolton called for the assassination of Libyan strongman Moammar Gadhafi, saying he was “a legitimate military target.” While Trump initially favored ousting Gadhafi, he later described it as a mistake that, like the Iraq war, created chaotic conditions conducive to terrorism. “Each of these actions [has] helped to throw the region into chaos and [given] ISIS the space it needs to grow and prosper,” Trump said in an April 2016 speech. “It all began with the dangerous idea that we could make Western democracies out of countries that had no experience or interest in becoming a Western democracy.”
3. Bolton thinks the U.S. should have intervened in the Syrian civil war sooner and more aggressively. “Whatever slim chance there was of empowering a ‘moderate’ anti-Assad opposition when the civil war began four years ago disappeared while Mr. Obama dithered,” he wrote in 2015. As a presidential candidate, Trump counted U.S. meddling in Syria as one of the actions that “helped to throw the region into chaos,” although since taking office he has taken a somewhat different view.”

There is no good saying that Bolton today is the enemy of Iran and North Korea. His past has actually strengthened Iran and North Korea by creating a chaos in the Middle East and taking the eye off the ball (the main dangers)
The great fear is that Bolton will betray Trump by creating a love affair with the Russia hating Britain of Theresa May and Boris Johnson. If you are really interested in fighting against Islam and Jihad then the correct approach today is to make an alliance with Sadat and Putin, and ensure that Iran, Hezbollah and Hamas are driven from Syria, which is possible, because Sadat HAD TO TAKE assistance simply for survival. That was the lesson of Saddam and Gadhafi and their grizzly ending.
I think that the choice of Bolton is a great mistake by Trump, in fact it will turn out to be THE mistake.
