Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

UK: Three Muslims charged with arson over shop blast in Leicester that killed five people

Mar 3, 2018 3:24 pm By Robert Spencer

Police announced several days ago that this incident was “not linked to terrorism.” But we cannot be sure that is so, since they say that even when incidents are clearly related to jihad terror. And we know that the Islamic State issued this call in September 2014:

If you are not able to find an IED or a bullet, then single out the disbelieving American, Frenchman, or any of their allies. Smash his head with a rock, or slaughter him with a knife, or run him over with your car, or throw him down from a high place, or choke him, or poison him. Do not lack. Do not be contemptible. Let your slogan be, “May I not be saved if the cross worshipper and taghūt (ruler ruling by manmade laws) patron survives.”

If you are unable to do so, then burn his home, car, or business. Or destroy his crops.

Is this a case of Muslims heeding that call? Maybe. Maybe not. The British police need to start being far more forthcoming and honest about such cases than they usually are, but that isn’t likely to happen.

“UK police charge three men over shop blast that killed five in Leicester,” Reuters, March 4, 2018:

British police investigating a shop blast a week ago which killed five people in the central English city of Leicester, said on Saturday they had charged three men with manslaughter and arson with intent to endanger life.

The five died when a blast ripped through a Polish convenience store and a home last Sunday, turning the building into rubble.

Police said in a statement they had charged three men over the case: Aram Kurd, 33, from Leicester, Hawkar Hassan, 32, from Coventry and Arkan Ali, 37, from Oldham….

UK: Three Muslims charged with arson over shop blast in Leicester that killed five people
    ………………………………

Except for insurance fraud–when the perpetrators are usually careful that no one is in the building at the time–there is no other purpose for this arson and explosion but murdering people.

Unless this was some sort of targeted hit–say, taking out a rival drug dealer or some such–then it is almost certainly terrorism.

How many more crimes like this are there apt to be, now that Britain is increasingly overrun with Muslim savages?

How is setting a residential building alight anything other than murder ?

How did it spread so fast and cause such a massive explosion that no one could escape ?

And what caused the initial fire in a ground-floor flat in Grenfell Tower, London, that then turned into a funeral-pyre through the mind-boggling EU-approved stupidity of specifying flammable cladding and insulation? Was there ever any update on the account of the flat-resident who grabbed his stuff and fled from the burning flat without calling the fire-brigade, never to be identified ? and the fridge-fire / TMTP story ?

Or the Liverpool car-becue of 1200 cars on New Year’s Eve ?

Why should anyone believe officialdom any longer ? They lie, and that’s it.

I wonder if there is more to learn about this. I doubt the ordinary media will let us know.

    • Sentinel says

      Mar 3, 2018 at 8:08 pm

The charge of ‘arson with intent to endanger life’ is not compatible with an accidental combustion of an illicit still. For some unknown reason one of the alleged perpetrators was a ‘security guard’ at the convenience store, a highly unusual thing for a grocery store in Leicester.

      • Yokel says

        Mar 4, 2018 at 6:42 pm

I had gained the impression that Arum Kurd was part owner of the business, but that on Facebook he described himself as a Security Worker. See:
        http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5460725/Sixth-man-arrested-explosion-Leicester-grocery-store.html

The distances between the reported towns of residence of those charged seems remarkable, unless they are all members of some common grouping or club etc.

To make flames as high as we saw in the press photographs there must have been something very flammable; a substantial mains gas leak, a substantial breach of an illicit still with liquor ready to bottle, or an explosive. I wonder if the business was profitable? I know nothing of the gang carve up of Leicester, if any.

I think that the charges may change as the investigation progresses. The police must charge the miscreants with something to justify continuing to hold them, so the first charge is often a “holding charge”, the one that is easiest to justify to the magistrate.

  6. Simon Platt says

There are some errors in the reporting here. I don’t know this shop, but local reports are that it was formerly a Polski sklep (as we call them in England) but changed hands a few months ago, the new owner being, er, “Leicester” man Aram Kurd. It’s his own business that’s gone up in flames, here.

The arrests are for arson and manslaughter (murder requires intent) and money-laundering. I’m confident that this tragedy is common-or-garden crime, rather than anything terroristic.

Correction not a terror bomb but an alcohol factory, a bootleg vodka distillery in the basement is reportedly source of explosion. If so, manslaughter indeed.

P.S. Is this not haraam? Does Islam permit the production and sale of alcohol?

According to people on the scene the explosion was caused by an illegal vodka distillery in the basement. A polish convenience store would serve as an excellent outlet. Nothing to do with terrorism. Just greed.

In Birmingham (England), and no doubt elsewhere, it is very easy to buy fake branded vodka, whisky, cigarettes etc, from “under the counter” in many off licence shops, but it’s quite clear from the taste that they are fake.

Sounds like this was one of those outfits where the stuff was being made ?

  17. IanB says

As I live in Leicester this is close to home.
The local conclusion is that an illegal vodka still exploded in the basement. The basement covered the entire area of the property so it was probably a large scale operation. A similar still blew up in Boston (Lincolnshire) a while ago. My retired accident investigator’s eye immediately concluded from the published photographs that the catastrophic explosion originated in the basement.

The Kurdish Moslem owner of the shop obviously thought it was not haram to produce vodka for the large Polish (and English) contingent in the local population. The stills were probably included in the sale of the shop. A nice little earner as we say. No civil word on all this as yet. It’s culturally sensitive don’t you know.

    • LeftisruiningCanada says

      Mar 4, 2018 at 2:44 pm

Just a question – would the alcohol itself be volatile enough to cause such damage, or are we talking about an alcohol fire causing secondary explosions (gas lines etc)?

Does anything you see in the photos make you think that something more energetic was involved?

      • IanB says

        Mar 4, 2018 at 8:04 pm

A gas supply explosion was ruled out by the initial investigation.

If illegal stills were involved and were of poor design unable to resist interior pressure build up (e.g. weld failure) and were not fitted with pressure relief valves of appropriate release then risk of explosion was high. Ventilation flow in a basement would probably be minimal allowing a build up of potentially inflammable ethanol / air mixture even if the still itself did not explode but merely leaked alcohol vapour. A flash point would be reached resulting in fire and violent explosion with ignition possible from the lighting of a cigarette or even switching on an electric light. Explosions in legal distilleries and bonded warehouses are rare because safety precautions are taken to minimise such risk.
Here is a Telegraph report of an explosion in an illegal vodka distillery in Boston, Lincs.:
        https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/8636424/Boston-explosion-five-dead-in-huge-fireball-during-illegal-vodka-brewing-operation.html
It is possible that, alternatively, there was a bomb making operation going on in the basement and the photographs could be consistent with an associated accidental explosion.
The ferocity of the resulting fire would indicate a large amount of inflammable liquid or vapour being present. Hollywood depictions of a huge ball of flame after an explosion are not typical.
Forensic tests will determine the actual causation. These were delayed because of the unsafe condition of the neighbouring buildings. I understand they have been completed but the results have as yet to be released.

          Thanks Ian, very informative.

There was a story very similar to this one during the Christmas/New Year period in a part of Bradford if i remember properly. Sizable explosion in the upstairs apartment of a ‘semi-detached- house basically destroyed half the building and landed most of the roof in the middle of the street.

Couldn’t find further reporting on that one after the initial flurry, but the damage looked a lot like this one, just touch smaller.

        • IanB says

          Mar 4, 2018 at 8:57 pm

If propane was being used to heat the still(s) the risk of violent explosion, through subsequent explosions of propane cylinders, would be increased.
