Can any informed person possibly be surprised by this? From 2011 on, it has been the official policy of the U.S. government to deny any connection between Islam and terrorism. This was the result of an October 19, 2011 letter from Farhana Khera of Muslim Advocates to John Brennan, who was then the Assistant to the President on National Security for Homeland Security and Counter Terrorism, and later served in the Obama administration as head of the CIA.
The letter was signed not just by Khera, but by the leaders of virtually all the significant Islamic groups in the United States: 57 Muslim, Arab, and South Asian organizations, many with ties to Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood, including the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), the Muslim American Society (MAS), the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), Islamic Relief USA; and the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC).
The letter denounced what it characterized as U.S. government agencies’ “use of biased, false and highly offensive training materials about Muslims and Islam,” including books I had written. Despite the factual accuracy of the material about which they were complaining, the Muslim groups demanded that the task force “purge all federal government training materials of biased materials”; “implement a mandatory re-training program for FBI agents, U.S. Army officers, and all federal, state and local law enforcement who have been subjected to biased training”; and more—to ensure that all that law enforcement officials would learn about Islam and jihad would be what the signatories wanted them to learn. It demanded that I be released as a trainer of FBI agents and military personnel.
Numerous books and presentations that gave a perfectly accurate view of Islam and jihad were removed from coounterterror training. Today, even with Trump as President, this entrenched policy of the U.S. government remains, and ensures that all too many jihadists simply cannot be identified as risks, since the officials are bound as a matter of policy to ignore what in saner times would be taken as warning signs. So of course agents are clueless. It’s U.S. policy that they be clueless.
“US agents untrained to vet Islamic radicals, have poor grasp of jihadist threat, experts warn,” RT, March 7, 2018:
US law enforcers aren’t trained to detect Islamic radicals, which enabled a suspected Al-Qaeda-linked jihadist to remain off the radar in America for seven years, attorney Jennifer Breedon told RT.
Saudi national, Naif Abdulaziz Alfallaj, who trained at the Al-Qaeda camp in Afghanistan together with some of the 9/11 plane hijackers, was detained in Oklahoma in February. He arrived in the US on a non-immigrant visa back in 2011 and lived freely in the country, even taking pilot lessons. It took the US security agencies a whole seven years to match the fingerprints from Al-Qaeda papers obtained in Afghanistan in 2011 with the prints in its database and reveal Alfallaj’s true identity. The man now faces up to 20 years in prison for two counts of visa fraud and lying to the FBI about his terrorist links.
Breedon, an attorney specializing in foreign policy, international law and religious terrorism, believes that the Alfallaj affair shows “an ongoing failure of the US – and also Europe – to properly vet these people and for our law enforcement to even understand the nature of radical Islamists.”
“Why this person was able to go under the radar; why he went all the way through the State Department vetting process – because there’s no vetting process that vets for extremist religious ideology,” she said. According to the attorney, the employees of the relevant US agencies “haven’t been properly trained” and are unaware of the most basic things, like who the Wahhabis are and what Sharia Law is.
“It’s very likely that [Alfallaj] didn’t even have to try hard to deceive” the US authorities, Breedon said. “The State Department is asking questions and they’re expecting an honest answer. And these people, especially, if they have terrorist ties or connections, are never going to be honest on a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ questionnaire… If we don’t know how to read between the lines or truly understand their ideology we’ll continue to not catch these people.”…
Another unhelpful thing is the Western model of “we can’t offend anybody,” Breedon believes. In 2016, when Omar Mateen killed 49 people and injured 58 others at an Orlando gay club, “the FBI had ample warning that the Orlando attacker was a threat, but because he was Muslim they didn’t want to look into it; they didn’t want to be seen as targeting a certain religious group – and because of that lots of people died.”…
Former US diplomat, Jim Jatras, told RT that the “incompetence” of the US security agencies could be the simplest explanation for Alfallaj’s seven-year stay in the US. “We know of many cases where people, who should’ve been on the watch list, weren’t there because of some bureaucratic mix up or because they had trouble with the names. As you know, especially, with Arabic names, sometimes there’s a lot of confusion or differences how they are rendered into English.”
“The other explanation is that this gentleman is a Saudi and there was some sort of favoritism involved. That perhaps some agency had an interest in him for other reasons and he was given special treatment as a result,” Jatras said….

Without studying the SIRA, HADITHS, KORAN, CANONICAL COMMENTARIES, QUTB, FARAJ and MAUDUDI, no one…. NO ONE… can understand Islam.
Without a thorough knowledge of AL WALAA WAL BARAA no one … NO ONE … can understand the MIND of the JIHADIST.
ALL Muslims practice VERBAL JIHAD by lying and deceiving KAFIRS about the meaning, motive and METHODS of JIHAD.
LEARN ABOUT AL WALAA WAL BARAA.

That’s right! The ostentatious displays and ornate language are smokescreens to cover up the absence of spiritual and intellectual depth.
I remember when I read the koran, I got so sick of that flowery language. Muslims think that there is no higher expression of the written word than the koran. I thought it was crap.
I’m much more of a clear, straight speaking, kind of guy. Mark Twain, Will Rodgers, H.L. Menkin, Robert Spencer etc. are all superior writers to Mo and his sock puppet Allah.

I know that Robert Spencer has more on his plate than he needs but I believe his expertise would be extremely valuable to our government agencies in fighting the onslaught of Muslim extremist. I know in the past he has given help but somewhere down the line our government became afraid of using outspoken individuals when it comes to Muslim jihadist..to our sorrow and defeat.

“highly offensive training materials about Muslims and Islam,” –
What about highly offensive training materials about infidels – especially Jews and Christians – in Islam?
Turning Jews and Christians into apes and pigs in one’s mind by help of the Koran e.g. is a prelude to murder and mayhem.
JawsV says
It’s just the Jews Allah transforms into “apes and swine.”
Christians are called “polytheists” and “idol worshipers.”
Yes, it’s Islam that’s offensive.
Jack Diamond says
Christians are also called the worst of creatures (s.98:6) and as Ibn Kathir comments: “(They are the worst of creatures.) meaning, they are the worst creation that Allah has fashioned and created.”
In s.8:55 “Verily, the worst of living creatures before Allah are those who disbelieve” (ibn Kathir: “Allah states here that the worst moving creatures on the face of the earth are those who disbelieve, who do not embrace the faith.”
This puts them lower than apes and swine in Allah’s order of things.
Tjhawk says
It should NOT matter at all if the training materials are offensive about muslims and islam. It should only matter that the materials are true and that they help our people counter the threat.
We are in an information war. Ignorance is NOT bliss.
Norger says
The Bush and Obama presidencies both distinguished between supposed “true,” peaceful Islam and “violent extremist” Islam, which is allegedly not Islam. As Andrew McCarthy (prosecutor of the Blind Sheikh) puts it,is not the place of our political leaders to determine what is “true” Islam. It is undeniable that, at a minimum, virtually all Islamic terrorists claim to motivated by certain interpretations of Islamic theology (i.e. threat doctrines). Those threat doctrines are readily identifiable, and can be studied (e.g. the Koran). For a federal law enforcement agency to Intentionally decide not to study a self-identified enemy’s stated threat doctrine is beyond incompetent; it’s treasonous. I am more than a little surprised that this continues under the Trump administration.
gravenimage says
Trump has been a vast improvement, but there is still a lot he does not know about Islam. Moreover, he does not have direct control over law enforcement agencies, in any case, and a lot of them remain clueless about Islam, as well.

Yes. If the truth is offensive, whose fault is that?

Personally, I consider Islam offensive.

Yes Benedict. Islam IS murder and mayhem rolled into one……There are so many precedents out there showing islam to not be a religion , as RELIGION is is set forth in western nations……..Therefore WHY aren’t western nations doing everything in their power to erase Islam as a religion..They are using our laws against us…time to make new laws to eradicate this murderous cult…Too many cowards running the world.

HugoHackenbush says
How about this for training material: all persons wishing to rise above the lowest ranks will be required to read all of Islams foundational documents (Koran, Hadith, Sira) and sign an affidavit (under penalty of perjury) that they have read every word. Now how could anyone object to source material? Lots of work, yes, but gets around the issue of “spin” and opinion. You could even throw in “Reliance Of The Traveller” (sic) for those trying to rise above middle management.
LeftisruiningCanada says
“and sign an affidavit (under penalty of perjury) that they have read every word.”
This would work.
Unless they converted during the process.

An important book about this is Stephen Coughlin’s: “Catastrophic Failure”. Buy his book if you are able. It will help support him since he too lost his job as a trainer. Coughlin also has a series of videos, I think they are called “The Red Pill Briefs” where you can see the type of materials that were banished by the evil #%!?€£s who made such decisions. I think Vlad Tepes might have these briefs compiled at his blog. You will never look at the world quite the same after reading the book and watching these videos.
StellaSaidSo says
I agree, CATASTROPHIC FAILURE is an excellent book. Not exactly ‘light’ reading (it runs to 700+ pages, as I recall), but very comprehensive. Major Coughlin’s Red Pill Briefs series is also well worth your time, and is available on YT.
pennant8 says
My copy is filled with marks from a highlighter pen. One of Major Coughlin’s main points is that he considers it a dereliction of duty for today’s military officers not to be fully educated on the true nature of Islam.
Norger says
Yes. It’s a violation of the oath they take to defend America against all enemies, foreign and domestic. It’s beyond mind-boggling that this—willful ignorance of the enemy—is our approach to defeating Islamic terrorism. As many have observed, “know your enemy” is paramount to victory in any conflict. No one has ever won a war against an enemy they refuse to identify, much less study.
LeftisruiningCanada says
The picture he paints is very dark indeed.
MFritz says

Ray Jarman says
MFritz,
You hit the nail on the head. Anyone who believes that Hussein is not a muslim is a fool. No college transcripts, no release of the name of his benefactor to Harvard, his involvement with good ole reverend Wright, with the muslim brotherhood, his madras education in Indonesia, his bloodthirsty muslim father and his mentoring at the feet of Frank Davis are more than warning flags at to his true beliefs and aims (oh, and I almost forgot his intentional dismissal of Reverend Billy Graham). Hussein’s sole aim was to sow discord and permit muslim encroachment into American society and government. He used communist play books provided by Frank Davis and Bill Aires (who probably wrote the fiction, “Dreams of My Father) as well as that of Saul Alinsky’s play book for destroying America by sowing discord and angst between ethnic, religious and races in an effort to usher in a Lenin/Stalinist version of Communism with a touch of Mao. So forcing his administrative agencies to pretend that muslims are peaceful Americans and persecuting anyone who dared object was his contribution to jihad and sedition.

This cluelessness about Islam predated Obama–but things got *much worse* under him.
sally says
Let’s not be blind to the contribution of the Bush family to our officials’ cluelessness. It was GW who padded over to the Saudi embassy to prostrate himself after the 9-11 event. It was HE, not Obama, who upped the Muslim immigration wave. Obama merely tagged along. Put the blame where it belongs – don’t shield George Bush. He was one of our worst disasters as president. (So was Obama, of course.) We need to let Trump know we are holding him accountable. It is not good enough that he “isn’t as bad as Obama or Hillary”. Things are too far along for that to matter. He needs to show more leadership. We are in danger of thinking things are ok just because Obama is not there. Not good enough. Sorry.

I’m going to approach this from another view: fear, complexity, cost, and laziness.
Training involves time for which enforcement “students” must be paid and there is an additional cost for materials and the facilities.
Islam is complex and requires students, who typically dislike reading and report writing, who don’t read books on their own time, to suddenly have an interest to read and understand the conflicting ideology of Islam. Of course, agents reading any 50 pages of the Quran would expose the relationship between believer and non-believer as physically adversarial – if they would read it.
Even with an instructor, there is personal work to be done. What the student expects are some laws to learn and enforce and instead it’s learning boring philosophy. Human laziness also sets in because this gibberish, with its important nuances, is unlike anything they have ever studied.
Along comes CAIR and associates, dishonestly glad-handing and playing victim. The enforcement administrators weigh the alternatives – worry about being called, “racist”, pressure from the White House, money, etc. They see that cancelling the program will make everyone with political power happy and save a “ton” of money.
Tough decision? How many acts of violence will it take before the Trump administration realizes that training is needed?
sally says
I guess we need to hire better candidates then. If agent trainees are too bleeping lazy to read and would rather Americans be killed instead, they don’t belong there. True, reading is “hard” for people who grew up in our public schools (we need to encourage home school) but if they can’t read, they need to invest in remedial reading before they are hired. As to the cost of training, people need to be aware that this is the cost of unvetted mass immigration. If we stopped them from coming in we could afford lazy, illiterate FBI and other “counter-terrorist” agents. As it is, we can’t. Cheaper by far to keep them OUT. If cost is the determining factor, shut down immigration.
Garfield says
Its really not that complicated to get the basics across, though: there are these people, radical muslims, they despise everything we love and want to kill us. Don’t let them.

Employees of security agencies are well compensated and pensioned, and part of their job is to have a clue about what they are dealing with.

sally, while the president does a lot to set the tone, you are mistaken in your belief that the president has full control over every aspect of law enforcement–for good or ill.
Snake Eater says
The problem within the agencies is not the rank and file officers; rather, it is the management and leadership at the highest levels going all the way back to 9/11 who have bought into the “official version” of the “religion of peace” narrative pushed by CAIR and other Muslim Brotherhood front organizations that has been pushed down onto everyone below them.
Many officers educate themselves and have a solid understanding of Islam and the existential threat it poses; however, It would not matter if an officer was an Islamic scholar (with the knowledge of Mr. Spencer) because only the “official version” as promoted by the Kool-Aid drinking leadership at the highest levels of our government is tolerated.
This dangerous deception pushed by our own government leadership has been so pervasive that protocols have been put in place within all agencies that prevent those knowledgable and educated officers from doing the right thing and protecting and defending our Constitution. I have included several examples below of what I am talking about that go into excruciating detail for your review and education:
If you have not yet read Philip Haney’s excellent expose “See Something Say Nothing” then you need to… in order to understand the lengths that our government leadership will go to in order to submit us to Islamic jihad.
Another example is how CAIR has controlled the narrative and pushed the “official version” of Islam within our government, and how they were able to push their agenda and get Islamic-based doctrine expert Stephen Coughlin, and many others like him, systematically purged from teaching the truth about Islam to all levels of our government agencies! His book “Catastrophic Failure, Blindfolding America in the Face of Jihad” documents all the disgusting details of how we have been sold out.
Snake Eater says
Let me give you two examples of the anti-American quislings who are on the same sheet of music with the Muslim Brotherhood, helped create the Red/Green Axis, and facilitated and directed this dangerous and toxic pro-Islamic jihad environment at levels never before seent: Barry Soetoro (aka Barack Hussein Obama II) and Eric Holder. I could add many, many more…but you get my point. This is a good starting point if you want to vent your anger, not on the rank and file officers who are forced to be “blindfolded in the face of jihad.”
