An American ISIS widow whose son appeared in propaganda videos has defended buying Yazidi sex slaves in Syria and says she dreams of returning to the US with her four children to eat McDonald’s.
Jihad Watch has been following this story. The video of Sam El Hassani’s account of her alleged woes, and her dreams, is compelling and believable to the average caring non-Muslim in the West. She effectively advances the lie that her young son is just like any other child, with the same desires to eat at McDonald’s, and to play and learn. She tells her tale with the tone of an Oprah Winfrey special about her plight.
It is enough to tug on the heartstrings of the gullible and move them to tears of compassion, and even to make people want to advocate for her to be brought back to America. The inconvenient truth is that she defends “buying Yazidi sex slaves in Syria.” This should be the dealbreaker.
Over time, she said the couple bought two female teenage slaves and a young boy. The first slave was a girl named Soad, now aged 17, who El Hassani said she paid $10,000 for.
She rationalizes (or tries to):
El Hassani said her husband repeatedly raped the two girls but she defended her decision to purchase them because she offered them protection. ‘In every house that she was in before that was the same situation, but she did not have the support of someone like me.
Sam El Hassani’s warped reasoning and deceit is a jihadi tactic. They bring harm, but play victim. It is routine. Jihadists know well that Westerners are gullible, particularly leftists. The mindset that they have simply does not exist in the psyche of the vast majority of Westerners. Westerners cannot imagine or conceive in their minds that such calculated darkness could exist, so they keep on giving jihadis the benefit of the doubt, as the jihadis advance.
“American ISIS widow whose son appeared in propaganda videos defends buying Yazidi sex slaves, details beatings in Syria and claims she dreams of returning to the US to eat McDonald’s with her children”, by Emily Crane, Daily Mail, April 20, 2018:
An American ISIS widow whose son appeared in propaganda videos has defended buying Yazidi sex slaves in Syria and says she dreams of returning to the US with her four children to eat McDonald’s.
Sam El Hassani, also known as Samantha Sally, is currently in a Kurdish prison in Syria with her children after being taken into custody following ISIS’s collapse in Raqqa.
The 32-year-old’s ISIS-fighting husband Moussa El Hassani was killed last year in a drone strike.
In an interview from prison with CNN, El Hassani spoke of her life in the Caliphate as a ‘prisoner’ and said her husband once took her to a Yazidi slave market after suggesting they could help keep her and the children company while he was off fighting.
Over time, she said the couple bought two female teenage slaves and a young boy. The first slave was a girl named Soad, now aged 17, who El Hassani said she paid $10,000 for.
El Hassani said her husband repeatedly raped the two girls but she defended her decision to purchase them because she offered them protection.
‘In every house that she was in before that was the same situation, but she did not have the support of someone like me,’ El Hassani told CNN.
‘I would never apologize for bringing those girls to my house. They had me and I had them.
‘In any other situation they would be locked in a bedroom and fed tea every day. We cooked together, we cleaned together. Drank coffee together. Slept in the same room together. I was like their mother.’
Soad sent CNN a video message from an Iraqi refugee camp confirming that El Hassani rescued her.
She said her children also became victims, especially her son Matthew who became the subject of ISIS propaganda videos in which he vowed revenge on US President Donald Trump…..

There’s plenty of darkness in the West. Believe me. That’s the real problem here. Islam could not stand against a Western world with any integrity.

What does this mean?
Niab says
It means the West is addled–perhaps fatally– by the Left.
Cunamarra says
It means that if the Nations of the West were good and true to that goodness, Islam would not be a real problem or threat. It means that If the Western Nations had integrity, college university professors, elementary school teachers, parents, politicians, the entire mainstream and non-mainstream media would recognize Islam and Sharia as the monstrosities that they are. The notion that Islam is a “religion of peace” would simply not exist nor would it ever be entertained. No benefit of the doubt would ever be extended to the not-so-slick deceivers who are spokesmen and defenders of Islam. No one would believe nor tolerate the idea that Islam “enriches” a society.
What has utterly astonished me since my first reading of the Koran and, therefore, first true introduction to Islam, is the ocean of lies that surround the topic of Islam. If the Western Nations had not chosen some corrupt ideology these lies would have no power.
When I say ocean of lies, can you show me any example of Islam being defended and presented as a positive force in the world where a lie isn’t employed? I don’t think I’ve ever witnessed it and I’ve been living in Islamic countries for more than a decade.
Hellzhound says
It means that islam would soon be wiped off the planet if our politicians and media weren’t filthy whores bought by oil rich muslim countries who have paid them off to betray us so that the muslims can invade and take us over.

She is a collaborator with an ISIS jihadist. He wasn’t conscripted, he’s not an indoctrinated teenage, he left a safe country to go to the Islamic State. He joined an Islamic group which openly and proudly videos for the world what the nazis did everything to hide–mass murder, rape, slavery. The KKK nearly disappeared in disrepute in the 1920’s due to one of its leaders raping a woman who later died, something ISIS (and many other Muslim groups) does openly and wholesale in order to pleasure their allah and themselves. Am I saying Islam is worse than nazis and the kkk? No, they are all of the same cloth; they are all equally beyond the scale of evil, beyond measurement. Muslims, by their fruits and doctrines we now know them.
Ed Lee says
Christine, I disagree that, “Westerners cannot imagine or conceive in their minds that such calculated darkness could exist”. What about the Dark Side of the Force in Star Wars? George Lucas did not just make that up. He was good friends with Joseph Campbell, one of the world’s foremost authorities on mythology and religion. Most of the spiritual concepts in Star Wars came from Campbell’s work. There is ample historical evidence, the world over, of people recognizing evil.
gravenimage says
Ed, the mere fact that you have to go to PG-13 rated movies to as an example of evil in the West–with further reference to an academic mythologist–shows just how removed most in the West are from real evil.
In most ways this is a very good thing.
But no, the average Westerner has little concept of evil in its actual mechanics. All too few know much about history, either.
All too many are apt to give this Jihadi bride a moral pass.
Jacqueline says
It depends on the kind of evil you’re talking about. I would consider the Democratic Party’s denying Bernie Sanders the nomination to run for U.S. President as being evil. I consider James Comey’s underhanded, deceitful tactics as being evil. Likewise Robert Mueller’s witch-hunt investigation – premeditated evil.
gravenimage says
Sure–there is evil in the West, as there is everywhere.
But what you describe is weasely, underhanded cupidity. Not to make light of any of this, but it is not the same as openly using girls as sex slaves, stoning women in the streets, and mass slaughtering unbelievers. *This* raw evil is what one finds in Islam.
Hellzhound says
Those evils are minor in comparison with the evil inherent in islam. Muslims routinely torture animals for amusement, and also have their kids participate in torturing animals. Such things are not even seen as being wrong in muslim countries.
Think of how evil you have to be to actually behead a living human being, or to put them in a cage, pour gas on them and then burn them alive while you video tape it. Muslims who do such things to non muslims are HEROES to the muslim community. THAT is the kind of evil that far surpasses the evil that most westerners ever experience, and muslims wallow in it, glorify it.

WPM, I wouldn’t trust this young woman’s assertions. But I also know that we don’t know enough from the article to be justifiably certain that she didn’t wake up to the evil of Islam once she was over there, profoundly regretting her choice of religion and husband, now trapped in a marriage and in a caliphate. When you say she “let” her husband rape the girls… really? Do you think she had the power to stop him? What do you think would happen to her if she objected?
Could she had reported the rapes to the police?
In the Islamic State, raping sex slaves is not against the law.
I agree that bringing young people back from the IS and letting them resume their normal lives in the West without at least a long period of detention is a dangerous policy. The more we bring back home, the more dangerous it is. The fact that we can’t read minds and that we have a right to protect ourselves against those who mean us harm gives us the right to demand that our governments do not give the benefit of the doubt to people who have shown a willingness to join our enemies.
But this does not mean that a person like Sam El Hassani is, without a doubt, lying about her present state of mind. Some people are very unrealistic and led by emotion when they’re young, lacking foresight and insight. Hard experience can make them realise their horrible mistakes and grow up.

Did El Hassani know her husband was going to rape the girls when she bought them? Maybe not. Is it possibly true that the girls would likely have been raped by any other man who bought them? Probably. Would it be better to be in a household where the wife sympathized with you as a slave rather than resenting you and mistreating you because you were (forcibly) having sex with her husband? Yes. It’s better to have an ally than two enemies.
Once a young woman has made the stupid decision to join a man in the Islamic State, she’s not exactly a free agent any more. It’s like joining any other punitive cult – easy to get into but difficult to impossible to leave.
None of that means that El Hassani should be trusted. But it does mean that we don’t know her actual situation or present beliefs and loyalties. She made a very bad choice, and that choice is of the kind that makes others have to not trust her for their own protection, even if the truth is that she’s now harmless.

She left America was she kidnaped no ,she stated she though her husband did the right thing buying the slaves, she was with her husband to buy them. She has no regrets buying them she reported from her prison cell. She could have left her husband when he wanted to go overseas to join a terrorist group she is not a child ,she is a full grown woman who left America to join a terrorist group. You think she has regrets I bet she does so she made a lot of bad choices in her life as a adult
,1 marrying a person who thinks terrorism and being a traitor to America is A OK{having children with him leaving America taking her children into a war zone}
,2 staying married to that person in America where leaving him is not a death sentence
3 thinking joining that person with a little trip to both join and work in a terrorist group would be a fun couple vacation {they spend some good money on those slaves ,the booty from looting must have been fine}
4 This little poor bade in the woods you paint her as no I am not a mind reader ,but if you make bad choices in life as an adult you might regret what happens to you or where you end up.

With all respect, Steve, no she’s not. How many liberals are buying sex slaves? This was due to Islam, not liberalism.
But what the tropes of liberalism *may* do is to cause people to give her a pass.
Naby says
‘Liberals’ also give these ideologies a pass in the UN, ignore all the very real misogyny (fgm for example, harems etc.) taking place right here.
Joe says
GI, I appreciate your distinction between Islam and Liberalism, but it is less of a distinction with each passing day. What used to be black and white now has a lot of gray. Islam wouldn’t even be relevant in the Western world without Liberals.
I know George Bush doesn’t consider himself a liberal, but he did publicly praise Islam the day after the 9/11 attack. You wouldn’t find Thomas Jefferson or John Adams doing that. If there was ever a chance to examine the ideology of Islam, that was the day to do it. But no, the next President wore a Muslim ring all through his adult life until just before the end of his term. He didn’t sport any other allegiance with his attire. Something is being missed. Why did America elect someone who was affiliated with her worst enemy? And this was not the only mistake, either.
Islam is evil, and it is being used by evil people to spread evil. So the distinction between Islam and Liberalism might be two members of the same group.
It seems to me that the world in not going this way or that, but rather it is polarizing into good and evil. In the Bible, all those on the left go to Hell, and all those on the right go to Heaven (final judgement). Is that just political posturing? Maybe. But, as technology advances, privacy diminishes which causes polarization into only good (love) and evil (selfishness). It seems to me that is the function that is being used here. If so, it is the hand of God.

And what of her own son who has been warped to be a jihadist and hate the very nation to which his mother wishes to return? My friend (a soldier during the Iraq war) told me of the common slogan in Iraq that “women are for procreation while men and boys are for RECREATION”

Evil can be conceived in the minds of those who are evil. Those people with a thinking brain, and a moral compass, understand that those with evil minds and those without a moral compass can conceive of all sorts of evil.
Last century, a young couple did something similar to what this creepy “widow” and her terrorist hsband did. They tricked, drugged and the man raped the sister of his girlfriend. The woman assisted him in every part of the crimes, uncaring what it would do to her little sister. The child died,as I recall.
Evil doesn’t respect land boundaries or languages. If she returns to the U.s., it should be to spend her life in prison. No fast food, no television, no privileges.
Knowing her husband raped the girls and saying she was like their “mother” is esp evil.

Islamic State widow from Indiana defends her husband’s purchase of Yazidi sex slaves
………………………….
Well, I’d wondered about this. We knew her husband had sex slaves, but she hadn’t said what she thought about it. Now we know. *Ugh*.
More:
An American ISIS widow whose son appeared in propaganda videos has defended buying Yazidi sex slaves in Syria and says she dreams of returning to the US with her four children to eat McDonald’s.
………………………….
Some morons will be touched by this–but what does it really mean? No offence to McDonalds, certainly, but a desire to eat at a fast food restaurant is *not* the same thing as an embrace of American and Western values. After all, there are McDonald’s restaurants, replete with Islamic sexual segregation, in places like Saudi Arabia.
More:

What did this “support” add up to? It certainly did not protect the poor girls from being raped by her Jihadist husband, or forced to work.

In an interview from prison with CNN, El Hassani spoke of her life in the Caliphate as a ‘prisoner’ and said her husband once took her to a Yazidi slave market after suggesting they could help keep her and the children company while he was off fighting.

………………………….
So she *was in on it*–in fact, the Jihadist even claimed he bought them for her and the family. This is even worse than I had thought. I had assumed the Jihadist just brought the sex slaves home, and that she’d had no say in it.
More:
El Hassani said her husband repeatedly raped the two girls but she defended her decision to purchase them because she offered them protection.

………………………….
She was “like their mother” in that she allowed them to be raped, apparently without protest.
I am probably one of the few people here who actually has a small idea of what that feels like. I certainly did not feel “supported”.
And what about now? Does she reject slavery and sex slavery? What would she think of similar slave markets here in America? I would not count on it. Don’t let her back in.
Jim says
In a weird way, she has a point. Within the context of the situation of extreme horror that she embraced and chose to live in (and THAT is the problem and why she should never come back here), she was “less bad” than most. She had no power to control her husband. And refusing to take the children into her own home would not have bettered their lot. It likely is true that slave children were treated with much greater cruelty by most other owners. So she did what was within her power.
If she is asking us to see that things likely would have been worse for the children if she stayed uninvolved, I can see that. Is that factor alone enough to absolve her, much less permit her to live amongst us? Absolutely not. A mind so warped from having lived in that situation cannot be trusted to ever be safe by Western standards.
Carolyne says
I think it was Abraham Lincoln who said, “As I would not be a slave, so I would not own one.” While these young women might have fared better with these two monsters, that is no excuse for leaving the US and becoming a barbarian like her husband. She should never be allowed to return.
It is significant that she did not mention the fate of the young boy. I think we all know why.

Arthur says
We’ve heard this from Islamists already: slaves are lucky to be owned by Muslims, because Muslims slaveowners must operate within Shari’a law. In other words, the theocratic regulation of slavery is preferable to anything-goes slave ownership. Of course, one cannot criticize the slavery itself, because the Koran grants it and that’s the last word on the subject.
So, this woman is simply upholding what I would guess is the majority viewpoint of religiously observant Muslims with regard to slavery.
But, I don’t suppose any mainstream media will portray her viewpoint as validated by the Koran or widely held in the Islamic world. That might be construed as being critical of Islam, and, of course, that is also forbidden by Shari’a.
gravenimage says
Good analysis. Arthur–you are *quite* right.
Here’s Ask Imam, the most widely-read English language Islamic site:
Q: “…Is slavery still allowed in Islam in this day and age?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
Before answering your query, we shall reproduce an excerpt regarding slavery in Islam from Ma’ārif al-Qur`ān by Mufti Muhammad Shafi Uthmani below:
Let us now address the objection that Islam is the great upholder of human rights. Then how is it that it allows the enslaving of human beings?
This objection is a fallacy based on the false analogy drawn between Islamic concept of slavery and its practice in other religions and communities; whereas in Islam after the rights given to the slaves and the social status granted to them, they can hardly be called slaves in the generally accepted sense of the word…”
http://askimam.org/public/question_detail/29175
Yeah–as though the slaves of Muslims should be grateful for their forced servitude.
It then goes on to posit that the Islamic concept of slavery is somehow all sweetness and light, compared to the Christian concept of slavery that was practiced in places like the United States.
Several fallacies there, of course–while slavery has, sadly, been practiced by Christians in the past, there actually is no “Christian concept of slavery”.
Secondly, it was largely devout Christians like Anglicans, Methodists, and Quakers who spearheaded the Abolishionist movement, positing that far from there being a Christian concept of slavery, that slavery violates Christian morality.
Note that there has *never* been an abolition movement in Islam–and is not to this day. Certainly, this Imam is affirming that people can be enslaved under Islam. In fact, he cites a Hadith saying that slaves are assigned to Muslims *by “Allah”*.
Also, as brutal as slavery could be in places like the US, Brazil, and the Caribbean, it is notable that millions of former slaves survived slavery, and make up significant percentages of the population in all of these places–whereas there are almost no survivors of slavery in Dar-al-Islam. That in itself tells you a great deal.
He also claims that Islam tends toward freeing slaves. Of course, he does not tell you that Islam unchecked also *enslaves many more new slaves*. In fact, slavery has never disappeared in the Muslim world, and it was only pressure from the West that led to Muslim nations like Saudi Arabia to (nominally) end slavery. There were still open slave markets in Riyadh when I was a toddler. The enslaved population of Mauritania is an estimated *17%*. South Sudan split off from Sudan largely because Muslims were enslaving Chirstians and animists. One of the first things the Islamic State did was reinstitute slavery and sex slavery, with open slave markets, as the story above shows.
He vaguely implies that Musims may not be able to carry out Islamic slavery today due to treaties with the Infidels. Not only is not a sure thing–Muslims violate such treaties all the time–but it also pretty much acknowledges that any bar against open slavery in Dar-al-Islam is due to the residual influence of the West, and not due to Islam itself.

My sister knew a woman who was a slave. She lived with a family in Georgia who had given her her own house and took meals to her three times a day. My sister is 89, and she remembers visiting this family and going with them to take meals to the very elderly woman. She had been owned by the ancestors of the family who then took care of her. This is a long way away from a slave in Islam.
I know this is way off subject, but I find it interesting.

The self-absorbed bitch! She throws out any rosy-tinted fiction to cover her complicity. I’d like to hear the slaves’ side of the story.
I don’t recall her sons’ ages being mentioned, so who knows what filth they learned about their “rights” as righteous muslim males. I also wonder if the the propaganda films they were in involved shooting prisoners in the head, or holding up the victim’s head for the camera. Do you want them going to school with your grand-kids?
She gave up her citizenship when she swore allegiance to IS. Don’t the kiddies read “Man without a Country” anymore? She wants McDonald’s? Someone send her a case of month-old McRibs.
TheBuffster says
Did she swear allegiance to ISIS? Does it say anywhere in any of the articles that she swore allegiance to them? Of her own free will?
According to her story, they were supposed to be going to Turkey on a holiday and wound up on the Syrian border. Her husband took her daughter across and unless she wanted to lose the girl, she had to follow.
After reading the two links and watching the video in Robert’s article, *if* the woman is telling the truth, then her husband changed between the time they married and the time they wound up in Syria. I’ve heard that story many times from women who were seduced into marrying Muslim men – the men are charming and highly considerate, respectful and loving in the beginning, then over time become more and more domineering. Over time they can also go from being secular or mildly Muslim to radical.
Of course, she could be spinning a tale in order to get back to the USA. But I don’t find her story implausible, given what I’ve learned about how Muslim men sometimes seduce non-Muslim women into marrying them.
I note that in the pictures of the couple getting married she’s dressed in a very immodest (by Islamic standards) way in front of the man who’s marrying them, who is dressed in a Western suit, not dressed in Islamic garb. They don’t look like a hard-core Muslim couple at all in that photo.
I don’t think it’s just if we assume she’s lying. Neither should we assume she’s telling the truth. I don’t think we know enough to figure it out yet. At least not for sure.
utis says
This forum is not a court of law. She should be sent through a thorough legal process if she wants to come to America. That procedure had better include interrogation of the slaves (are they alive?) and examination of exactly how her sons were indoctrinated by the Caliphate. In justice to the slaves and to American citizens who have to live and deal with her Caliphate spawn. I remember ISIS videos of toddlers shooting prisoners in the back of the head and holding up human heads.

Just eating a “Big Mac” might be punishment.

These girls suffered so much to save themselves from Islam. What will be their afterlife?

Do you mean the Yezidi slave girls?
PRCS says
She’s digging the hole deeper with every statement she makes.
I hope she keeps talking.
Grrrrr... says
Where are the Yazidi girls now and how are they? While I don’t care much about Muslim Mrs. El Hassini, shouldn’t they at least – as Christians – be offered a good life in the US after all they’ve gone through?
I don’t know what’s wrong with white women associating with Muslim men at all and having so many Muslim kids with them. It couldn’t have been that big smile or the BMW she got and the Porsche he drove, or what?

Yezidis are not Christians–but they are non-Muslims, and hence fair game for enslavement as Mohammedans see it.

LEAVE her there and her children, they have MacDonalds in the Middle East,

The American woman who marries a Muslim and leaves her nation to go to a nation that hates America should never be allowed back into America, she forfeited her national citizenship to become Muslim once she married the Muslim and bore his children also Muslim. No telling what she learned and what damage she can do if she returns.
Also, purchasing another human being(slavery alive and well in middle east) and claim protecting them and having her husband rape them and then stating she was like their mother, nope leave her in prison, she followed Islamic law: sharia and did nothing.
Carolyne says
Mothers who allow their children to be raped go to jail in the US. That’s the correct punishment for this “Mother.”
Brenda says
There are a lot of excuses given by rapists for their actions but “protection?” now that’s a new one.
A terrorist purchasing a ‘slave(s)’ to keep your family company while they’re off murdering innocent people? WOW!
Stockholm syndrome – Soad defending her enslavement, beatings and rape.
This is insanity!
Ashley says
I agree, Brenda. This IS an insane story.
Soad either suffers from Stockholm Syndrome or was paid for her glowing review of Sam’s treatment towards her.
gravenimage says
Ashley, we haven’t heard from the teenage rape victim at all–I don’t even know if she is still alive. This is just Sam El Hassani’s account.
Ashley says
I posted the clip via CNN above of Soad…

Some American women are so very stupid – I mean really stupid – they think that being sweet- and smooth-talked by a Moslem male will somehow give them a sense of self-esteem, then when they marry, the Moslem husband starts to abuse his wife.
NO brains whatsoever.
Matthieu Baudin says
“… I would never apologize for bringing those girls to my house…”
Well then she can spend another 20 years in prison – in an independent Kurdistan.
Jimbo says
I pray to Jesus Christ, god, yehwah, Jehovah and the holy ghost that they smote this evil muzi bitch and all of her family members and friends , exterminating a large group of Muzzies as the Lord says “vengeance is mine, said the Lord, who art in heaven”. Amen

I guess she thinks it is better than a horse or a dog.
Reality is stranger than fiction.
You couldn’t dream this stuff up.
