Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Robert Spencer in FrontPage: Carter Center Sued for Providing Support to Hamas

Apr 29, 2018 7:30 am By Robert Spencer

Jimmy Carter’s unstinting hatred for Israel paved the way. My latest in FrontPage:

The Washington Free Beacon reported Monday that the Zionist Advocacy Center is alleging in a suit that former President Jimmy Carter’s nonprofit organization, the Carter Center, “has used taxpayer funding to provide material support to international terrorist groups, including Hamas.” Given Carter’s longstanding and abundantly established hatred for the Jewish state, this allegation is no great shock. Nonetheless, the specter of an American President’s foundation funding a jihad terrorist group demonstrates how far we have fallen.

The Zionist Advocacy Center further alleges that the Carter Center “received more than $30 million in taxpayer grants while violating federal statutes barring it from using the cash to provide material support to terror groups.” Not only that: “The plaintiffs maintain the Carter Center has violated the law by hosting designated terrorists at is facilities, as well as by providing various forms of assistance to the Palestinian terror group Hamas and other known terror entities.”

No one who has watched Carter over the years can really be surprised. Back in 2008, Carter claimed that Hamas was prepared to accept the right of Israel to “live as a neighbor next door in peace.” He had no grounds for saying so, and it wasn’t remotely true, but this claim helped him perpetuate the fiction that the Israelis, not the Palestinians, were responsible for the failure of all peace talks and the ongoing tensions between the two.

Two years before that, Carter published the notorious book Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid, in which he ignored the jihad imperative to destroy Israel, and the numerous maximalist and even genocidal declarations from Palestinian leaders, and painted an outrageous fantasy of a peaceful Palestinian people, ennobled by suffering and besieged by a rapacious Israeli war machine that was imposing apartheid policies in the name of a false need for security.

In a review in the Huffington Post (of all places), Alan Dershowitz eviscerated Carter’s book, pointing out that in order to make his case, Carter not only had to ignore and misrepresent present-day realities, but rewrite history as well:

Carter repeatedly claims that the Palestinians have long supported a two-state solution and the Israelis have always opposed it. Yet he makes no mention of the fact that in 1938 the Peel Commission proposed a two-state solution with Israel receiving a mere sliver of its ancient homeland and the Palestinians receiving the bulk of the land. The Jews accepted and the Palestinians rejected this proposal, because Arab leaders cared more about there being no Jewish state on Muslim holy land than about having a Palestinian state of their own.

He barely mentions Israel’s acceptance, and the Palestinian rejection, of the U.N.’s division of the mandate in 1948.

He claims that in 1967 Israel launched a preemptive attack against Jordan. The fact is that Jordan attacked Israel first, Israel tried desperately to persuade Jordan to remain out of the war, and Israel counterattacked after the Jordanian army surrounded Jerusalem, firing missiles into the center of the city. Only then did Israel capture the West Bank, which it was willing to return in exchange for peace and recognition from Jordan.

Carter repeatedly mentions Security Council Resolution 242, which called for return of captured territories in exchange for peace, recognition and secure boundaries, but he ignores the fact that Israel accepted and all the Arab nations and the Palestinians rejected this resolution. The Arabs met in Khartum and issued their three famous “no’s”: “No peace, no recognition, no negotiation” but you wouldn’t know that from reading the history according to Carter.

Many find it odd that the renowned architect of the Camp David Accords would stoop to all this; but it must be remembered that at Camp David, Israel gave up a great deal in exchange for little more than promises – promises that have been repeatedly broken. Jimmy Carter’s record of hostility toward the Jewish state spans his entire career. He has never publicly recognized that it faces the same jihad foes that attacked America on September 11, 2001, and counsels policies of appeasement and accommodation that, if fully implemented, would only embolden the jihadis and further weaken Israel.

And so now it is being claimed in a court case that the Carter Center has been aiding Hamas. Longtime Carter watchers can only say: of course.

CARTER DOESN’T SEEM TO KNOW WHAT IS IN THE BIBLE…

The Bible consistently endorses Israel as the Jewish homeland and Jerusalem as its spiritual and temporal capital:

How many times does Israel occur in the New Testament?
A: The words ‘Israel’ and ‘Israelite’ occur 77 times in the New Testament.

How many times does Jerusalem occur in the New Testament?
A:Jerusalem occurs 146 times in the New Testament and its synonym ‘Zion’ occurs 7 times.

How many times does Jerusalem occur in the Old Testament?
A: Jerusalem (and its alternative Hebrew names “Zion”, City of David, City of the Great King, Salem) appear 850 times in the Old Testament. This frequency reveals that Jerusalem is of supreme importance as the homeland of the Israelites.

Moreover, the phrase ‘from Dan to Beersheba’… which refers to all the territory contained in Israel … occurs 9 times in the Old Testament.

How many times is Jerusalem mentioned in the Koran?
A:Jerusalem is not mentioned one single time in the Koran. The Koran has no concern whatsoever about Jerusalem. The focus of the Koran is the ‘Forbidden Mosque’ and its location is never named. The Umayyads tried (unsuccessfully) to change the religious center from Mecca/Medina to Jerusalem. No Arab thought Jerusalem was importance to the Arabian cults.

How many times is Israel mentioned in the complete Bible?
A: Israel is mentioned by name 52 times in the complete Bible.

How many times is ‘Israel’ mentioned in the Koran?
A: The name ‘Israel’ is mentioned 46 times in the Koran.’The Children of Israel’ are mentioned 20 times in the Quran. In other words, in every instance in the Quran in which the word “Israel” occurs, it means only the ‘Land of the Jews’, proving that the Koran indeed deems Israel the divinely appointed territory of the Jewish people, their rightful inheritance and sacrosanct property as decreed by Allah. The name ‘Palestine’ occurs ZERO times in the Koran. That is food for thought for those fighting to create a brand new country called Palestine, since the ‘eternal, perfect, complete’ book of Allah does not do that and mentions ‘Israel’only. Not only that, but Allah specifically bestows the land to Moses and his people and then specifically commands the ‘Banu Israil’ to ‘dwell in the Land’. (Koran 5:20–25) And remember, Allah makes NO mistakes or omissions and his words are valid for all time.

How many times is Palestine mentioned in the Koran?
A: Palestine is not mentioned one single time in the Koran. The author of the Koran seems only refers to ‘Israel’.

Did the qibla (direction of prayer) ever face towards Jerusalem?
A: No, never. All the early mosques face only towards PETRA in southern Jordan and never towards Jerusalem. The idea that Mohammed prayed towards Jerusalem is not confirmed by any external or archaeological evidence. It is clear that Arabs prayed towards their pagan holy city of Petra where there were kept their holiest idols of Dhu Shara (the war god) and of Allat (the Arabian mother goddess). Mohammed’s tribe worshipped ‘ALLAT’ (Kora=Greek for ‘maiden’). The Koraysh tribe was named for the MAIDEN-GODDESS it worshipped at Petra, NOT at JERUSALEM.

When did Jerusalem take on any importance to Muslims?
A:Jerusalem only took on interest to Muslims when the infamous Nazi Mufti Mohammed Amin al-Husseini promoted the genocidal 1920s myth that “Jews are destroying Al Aqsa”, thus taking Jerusalem out of the shadows of irrelevance where it had been for centuries. The Mufti was a friend of Hitler, Himmler and Adolf Eichmann. Husseini encouraged the genocidal extermination of Jews and used the Dome of the Rock as an issue to motivate Arabs to hate Jews.

JERUSALEM and ZION? Not JEWISH? They appear 850 times in the Bible as such. The Bible is in fact a very Zionist book and our Lord revealed himself in it as a patriotic Israelite.

I voted twice for Jimmy Carter, once in 1976 and again in 1980. I remember being so impressed that he was so many things: a peanut farmer, Naval officer, nuclear physicist, successful Governor and much more.

And Jimmy had a great smile, which reminded me of the late President JFK. I considered myself to have been a high-information voter.

What a mistake. The ensuing decades have proved my past support to have been a profound error in judgment.

    I now know better.

And I remain a high-information voter. Please join me and millions of well-informed Americans in supporting former CIA Director John O. Brennan and NSI Director James R. Clapper for a Nobel Peace Prize: their insight, savvy and wisdom laid the groundwork for possibility of peace in the Korean Peninsula and in the Middle East. It is important to give credit where credit is due.

Mr. Clapper and Mr. Brennan are two of the finest public servants the US has ever had. It is a shame that the FBI has only a domestic mandate. Otherwise, former Directors James Comey would be eligible to join them (and former President Obama) as distinguished Nobel laureates.

    You read it here.

Yes, irony and sarcasm. But it reads as if Moshe is serious. Next time he should signal at the end he means it ironically.

The reasoning is clear: if DUMMIE DHIMMI J. Carter can receive a Nobel Peace Prize for a FAILED INITIATIVE, then of course, those who actively collaborated with the MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD should get a Nobel Prize too.

Nixon and Ford were okay, especially compared to the alternatives.
I use the word support as I could not vote until 1976 elections.

Indy, Carter was and is still a naïve Pollyanna who knows NOTHING about Islam. Most of the others know nothing.

Pres. Trump really ‘gets it’ and showed he did when he said, “ISLAM HATES US”.

Correct: that ‘essential’ doctrine is called “AL WALAA WAL BARAA” (a form of Islamic apartheid).

While Jimmy Carter might be a “Nucular” physicist, he cannot even pronounce it properly. I think he is an idiot and by his doublecrossing the Shah, he set up the conflagration in today’s Middle East. His Presidency was one of the most disgraceful periods in the history of the US.

Robert Spencer in FrontPage: Carter Center Sued for Providing Support to Hamas
    ………………………..

    Glad to hear it!

My mom-in-law worked as a docent for the Carter Center for many years. No–she *never* would have supported their support for Hamas–but she would not have believed it, either. Like so many, I’m afraid she thoroughly bought the idea of Carter as America’s ‘greatest ex-president’.

  9. SweetOlBob says

Jimmy is a posturing, Jew hating, muslim promoting, fraud. He purports himself to “oh so religious”, Born Again, and all that smoke screen to hide his criminal support of terrorist organizations like Hamas. He is an embarrassment to America and should be prevented from speaking to any foreign power as even a token representative of America. Above all, confiscate his Passport ! With an old goon like him running around, it’s no wonder America has lost respect in the world.
PRESIDENT TRUMP is slowly changing that, but he’s got his work cut out for him !
