Nasim Aghdam may have been Bahai, or at least admired some aspects of the Bahai faith (although she seems to have missed its nonviolent teachings); at the bottom of this page she has a photo of herself over which are superimposed quotes from Bahai sources. That page also makes her animus against YouTube clear, as you can see from the screenshot of that page below the video. YouTube was apparently deleting and demonetizing some of her videos, and she was angry. Her response to YouTube’s action was one she imbibed from a culture that glorifies hatred and violence — and persecutes Bahais.
So this is not a jihad attack, but it appears to be a result of growing up in an environment that celebrates violence as a response to perceived injustice. YouTube censorship is a reality. Conservatives complain about it, but don’t kill anyone over it.
Here is a photo she uploaded to her now-deleted Instagram page, albeit apparently with satirical intent (thanks to Mark):
“Suspect in YouTube Shooting Posted Rants About the Company Online,” by Michael Bott, Kevin Nious, Bethney Bonilla and Liz Wagner, NBC News, April 3, 2018 (thanks to the Geller Report):
The NBC Bay Area Investigative Unit has confirmed the identity of the shooter who opened fire on YouTube’s campus in San Bruno Tuesday. Her name is Nasim Aghdam, and she lives in Southern California.
Aghdam has a robust presence on YouTube. In a video posted in January 2017, she says YouTube “discriminated and filtered” her content. In the video Aghdam says her channel used to get lots of views but that after being filtered by the company, it received fewer views. In a Facebook post from February 2017, Aghdam blasted YouTube saying, “There is not equal growth opportunity on YouTube.”
The NBC Bay Area Investigative Unit has also learned the license plate on a car towed from YouTube’s campus Tuesday is registered to Aghdam. In 2014, she posted a video on YouTube of what appears to be the same car, stating that it was vandalized by “anti-vegans” because the car had a sign saying “meat is murder.”

A vegan activist? Chalk down yet another death attributable to Marxism. These people don’t abstain from meat and dairy because they don’t like the taste, they abstain because of cultural Marxist brainwashing. Such an evil ideology attracts violent, malleable, miserable, mentally unstable people. As Robert mentioned, this woman grew up in a hostile environment that in all likelihood has played a great part in her mental state and worldview. The overwhelming majority of killing in this world is done by leftists and their temporary “friends” of islam. I wonder how the Marxist vegan mafia will spin this …

Good. Somehow, I missed the memo that vegans were Marxists or Jihadists.
Wellington says
No, gravenimage, you are neither a Marxist nor Jihadist (or anything else wicked or stupid, quite the contrary in fact), but over the years I have noticed that vegetarians, and especially vegans, overwhelmingly tend to be on the Left side of the political spectrum and they so often come with a bevy of bad ideas, all part and parcel of a larger and silly agenda.
I also detect a thinly disguised narcissism with most vegetarian types, above and beyond what you find with meat eaters, of which I am certainly one, meat being along with fish and dairy products my favorite foods, minus, of course, beer. Yes, I like fruits of many varieties but, gotta’ say, vegetables are, for me, the most boring food group to be found.
Just the other night my wife and I went to the home of friends who, while they eat fish, do not eat meat. So, we were served vegetable lasagna. Sorry, but no lasagna has ever tasted nearly as good to me as lasagna stuffed with lots of prime beef. And yes, I have had vegetable lasagna many, many times and no way it comes close to the original “beef variety.” Put another way, I am a PETA kinda’ guy if by PETA one understands it to mean “People Eating Tasty Animals.”
Hope you are doing well, my friend. Gee, I do wish all vegans thought as you do. Alas, they do not. If they did, it might make me think I was wrong all along about not being a vegan.
Kepha says
Were I living in Taiwan, I could easily become vegan for at least periods of time. They know how to cook vegetables, and they make a lot of good ersatz meat from doufu (whiich the Japanese copied and turned into tofu) and wheat gluten. There. Wonder of wonders, miracle or miracles, Uncle Kepha just said that maybe Mahayan Buddhism can have at least one good effect on a culture.
Even so, I agree that a lot of vegans I have known have been singularly unsympathetic people (excluding gravenimage)–as well as narcissistic, sanctimonious, and a few other not-so-nice adjectives. I suspect that it’s often a case of someone simply wanting to be contrary or “agin'” the mainstream of the society in which he has grown up. Such people do tend to be prickly.
But, dear Wellington, as a fellow omnivore, vegetables don’t have to be dull. You don’t have to boil or steam them. You can liven them up a bit by sauteing them lightly in oil and dressing them up with a bit of garlic or sesame seed.
gravenimage says
Hi, Wellington and Kepha. I like to think I’m a good cook, and I also make a lot of Asian dishes. And Mexican, Mediterranean, Italian, French, African, Central American, Indian, British, Persian, South American, Native American, Basque, Spanish, German, Swedish, and a lot of regional American dishes. I also make a kick-*ss from-scratch BBQ sauce–my own recipe.
Yes–a lot of vegetarians and vegans are twits–not all of them, though.
I just meant that most vegans don’t shoot up innocent people. Obviously, this grim case is an exception–just glad no one was killed.

How many jihadists have killed people who love halal meat? Do we

Georg says
Lol! My bad, Paul. I wasn’t offended regardless, and I hear ya’. Veganism ≠ Marxism. And yes, it is decidedly “leftist” to be lumping everyone as such. Anyway, good looking on the veganism and let’s get the jihadi bastards out of our sphere of influence.

Actually, no. Very few people who eat as humanity is equipped to are serial killers.

The hostile environment that taught her to use violence to solve differences was “leftism” more than Islam.
Savvy Kafir says
Are you kidding?! Do you really think the liberal/progressive community promotes violence more than Islam? — Or engages in violence more than devout Muslims?
I get that you hate liberals. And I understand (and empathize with) some of your likely reasons for that animus. But Islam is far & away the most violent ideology on the planet — as evidenced around the world, on a daily basis.
gravenimage says
It depends what you mean by leftism.
There are some extremely violent hard-leftists–like Black Bloc thugs and the Black Panthers–but also a lot of very non-violent liberals. A lot of these people are my neighbors. Some of them even veer too far in this direction, and don’t even believe in self defence, or believe that *others*–like Jihadists–can be violent.
Savvy Kafir says
Elisha — that’s freakin’ absurd! Some of you right-wingers at Jihad Watch really have gone off the rails, in your hatred for anything associated with liberals or progressives. In that regard, you’re just as bad as the PC liberals who blindly hate anything & everything promoted primarily by conservatives, such as criticism of Islam, immigration restrictions, or gun rights.
Although not a vegan, I’m a vegetarian myself — mainly for ethical reasons, with environmental benefits being a major bonus. I am not a Marxist of any sort. I have not been brainwashed by the political left, or by anyone else; I do my own thinking. I’m an outspoken critic & dedicated opponent of Islam. I’m a staunch supporter of gun rights. And I despise political correctness, cultural relativism, & moral relativism as much as any right-wing Christian.
Not everyone who is a vegan or vegetarian or environmentalist is a conniving “Marxist”, determined to sow chaos and bring down Western Civilization. And the vast majority of us are not mentally unhinged extremists who take out their anger & frustration by going on a shooting spree.
Not everyone who visits Jihad Watch is a conservative — and, more than any other group, we need to educate liberals & progressives regarding The Religion of Peace, and win them over to our side in the global resistance to Islam.
So when you’re posting comments here at JW, please try to dial back the rage & hostility you apparently feel regarding EVERY position & agenda supported by those of us on the political left — especially totally innocent, well-intentioned, beneficial practices such as veganism, vegetarianism, & environmentalism. And I’ll try to refrain from taking pot-shots at Christianity and climate change deniers.

Agreed. More & more frequently, I see accusations of “Marxism” being used to explain all sorts of idiotic beliefs & agendas of politically-correct liberals & clueless SJWs. The situation is a lot more complicated than that. It’s more like a perfect storm of bad ideas & bad assumptions that are held by willfully ignorant, logic-challenged Lefties, than any single, guiding ideology.
As someone who resides more-or-less on the political left, I’ve been surrounded by liberals & progressives for many years. I’ve heard their arguments. I know how they think. And I can assure you that the task of breaking down political correctness and educating Islam-friendly liberals will be much more complicated than simply attacking & undermining Marxism, or any other -ism..

Some people don’t eat meat, or eat it in moderation because they are prone to clogged arteries caused by meat protein and oil/fat. I eat fish once a week for that reason. No other meats. Now, I love steak and hamburger, but don’t want to die young like many of my family relatives. So, please don’t characterize people by what they eat. Yes, the political vegans are nut-cases, and generally . . . leftists. If you look around anywhere these days, you will see that most people are overweight . . even a lot of high school-aged kids. It is from eating meat 3 times a day, oily salad dressings, junk food full of oil, and sweet drinks, donuts full of sugar, etc . . . – – Some people are lucky, and have that extra fat-processing gene, and can weight 300 lbs and live to be to 100 years old. Children born with zero or too few fat processing genes, often die before they are 10 years old with clogged arteries. – – So, eat as you please . . but be aware of the health consequences of what your body type can handle.

To his credit Hitler never hunted like other Nazis ,never drank . He banned vivisection of animals and he fed mice in his delapidated apartment when he was a corporal although he was starving hungry .Lets give the man the credit where it belongs .
gravenimage says
Hitler was probably not a vegetarian because of concerns for animal welfare–it was more likely his view of control or “bodily purity”. He did not drink or smoke, either.
He also appeared to believe that a vegetarian diet added to one’s strength and endurance, and he claimed that Roman soldiers followed a vegetarian diet.
One of the few sources that made a strong case for his being an ethical vegetarian was a piece in a pro-Nazi children’s magazine, “Die Weisse Fahne”.
Interestingly, most vegetarian groups were banned under the Nazis.
And while I know quite a bit about Hitler and his history, I have never heard that he kept mice while in service in WWI (which would probably have been difficult to impossible just logistically, in any case). Citations, please.

A Prayer of Mother Earth
And the Earth became infected with the vile Muslim.
The skies were dark with soot and the smell of death.
And people lived in fear.
Grain did not grow and the animals were sick and died.
And it came to pass, the Earth saith:
“I am sick and my life is unhappy when the Muslim walks on my land and breathes my air.
All good men, find the Muslim and strike him at the neck, of all Muslims!
Smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them.
Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power,
Including steeds of war, to strike terror into the hearts of the vile Muslim.
Some ye slew, and some ye make prisoners.
Destroy their dwellings!
Destroy their seed that no Muslim shall be born unto the Earth.”
The dirty Muslims hid behind the rocks and the trees, but the rocks and the trees cry out:
“There is a filthy Muslim behind me, come and smite him.
For surely they are sons and daughters of Pigs and Monkeys!”
And the Muslim fled like a crazy man with fear in his mind and terror in his eyes!
But he was not swift enough.
For the Earth found and catch every one of the vile Muslim.
And the Muslim was struck at his neck.
And the Muslim blood flowed like the waters of the river Nile.
Until all Muslims on Earth were smited.
And Lo, Behold.
The world became clean and the air fresh when the Muslims were no more.
And the Earth was happy.
And people lived in peace and the Earth was good.
In the name of our Mother Earth,
For ever and ever,
Amen

Would that be the American culture of extreme violence where firearms were used to kill 13,286 people in the U.S. in 2015, excluding suicide? Approximately 1.4 million people have been killed using firearms in the U.S. between 1968 and 2011.
The violent American culture cannot be the whole explanation because most Americans are kind and not violent. Mental issues must also be involved. My guess would be autism or psychopathy, both pathologies is characterized by lack of a moral agency, and are very hard to diagnose in females. Being a “vegan activist” points in the direction of autism.

Hundreds of Bahai’s have been tortured and killed in Iran’s prisons for accepting Muhammad was followed by another prophet. Their Holy Places have all been destroyed, some covered over by roads [the religion was founded in Iran] and their graveyards destroyed and schools closed.

It’s just a coincidence, but before this story broke yesterday, I had tried to access the German national anthem on my YouTube account. I hadn’t selected that song for at least a couple of months, but this time, I got a notice that the song was offensive to members of the “community.” I had to click on a box acknowledging my consent to listen to it. Curious, I played it again, and sure enough, I had to click on consent again. My first thought was, “Great. The bastards let me hear it, but they’re going to note every time I listen to it, and denounce me to whatever fascist government is running my life for me.”
When this shooting occurred, I assumed it was jihad or a disgruntled worker, but I did think too that it might be a disgruntled YouTube user whose videos had been censored. And lo, of the three possibilities, the crazy theory was right. I feel sorry for the working stiffs who had to endure this assault, but YouTube needs to have a “Live and let live” standard that viewers have to accept. Human rights and Islam are allergic to each other.
In February 1991, a confidential circular was issued by the Supreme Cultural Revolution Council on “the Bahá’í question” and signed by Supreme Leader Khamenei himself. The document organized the methods of oppression used to persecute the Bahá’ís, and contained specific recommendations on how to block the progress of the Bahá’í communities both inside and outside Iran. The document stated that the most excessive types of persecutions should be avoided and instead, among other things recommended, that Bahá’ís be expelled from universities, “once it becomes known that they are Bahá’ís,” to “deny them employment if they identify themselves as Bahá’ís” and to “deny them any position of influence.”
In Iran, Baha’is are seen as apostates from Islam and according to many Muslims, they must choose between repentance and death.
In Iran have been subjected to unwarranted arrests, false imprisonment, beatings, torture, unjustified executions, confiscation and destruction of property owned by individuals and the Bahá’í community, denial of employment, denial of government benefits, denial of civil rights and liberties, and denial of access to higher education.
Welcome to normative SHARIA-BASED Islam.
Nasim Aghdam was wrong to take the law into her own hands when confronting the OUTRAGEOUS CENSORSHIP of youtube. Muhammad wanted to be accepted as a prophet and she wanted to be a celebrity. They both wanted to be something they clearly were not and so they brooded in dark caves. Beware of staring into the pit of darkness because something within it may reach out, grab you and completely extinguish the light:

Why has this turned into a debate regarding ding veganism? I know many and they are not Marxist’s. Some are strictly for health reasons. This should be about the fact that muslims, all Muslims ms are killers waiting for a trigger before they start stabbing, shooting and murdering.

……………….
This is highly unlikely. Even though there are a lot of happy meat-eaters in the Bay Area, vegan bumper stickers are extremely common here. I doubt anyone here would vandalize a car because of it.
