“Outreach to the community.” Yeah, that’ll work. Hasn’t it worked beautifully since 9/11?
Meanwhile, hampering these investigations is the fact that even now, the clueless and compromised FBI includes no study of the motivating ideology of jihad terrorists in its counterterror training. It is working in the dark, and the consequences will inevitably be…explosive.
“FBI Director: 1,000 Homegrown Terror Investigations Active, Not Counting ‘Traditional’ ISIS, al-Qaeda Suspects,” by Bridget Johnson, PJ Media, May 17, 2018 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):
WASHINGTON — FBI Director Christopher Wray told a Senate Appropriations subcommittee on Wednesday that the bureau is tracking several hundred homegrown terror suspects, not counting those linked to a terror group or domestic extremist groups such as white supremacists.
“In every state in the nation who have been inspired by ISIS or al-Qaeda or similar groups, and radicalize, no longer by traveling to training camps, but via the internet through videos, or private chat rooms, or other means. How is the FBI countering that threat?” Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) asked at the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Subcommittee hearing to examine the FBI’s annual budget request. “It seems to be very difficult to identify these individuals.”
Wray told the senator she put her finger “on what I would call sort of our highest counterterrorism priority at the moment.”
“We have about 1,000 investigations into exactly the kind of people you’re describing, covering all 50 states as I’m sitting here right now. And that’s not even counting, you know, the al-Qaeda investigations, the traditional ISIS investigations, the domestic terrorism investigations, but just the group you’re talking about,” he said.
“And what makes it so hard is that there are not many dots to connect with some of these people. They pick soft targets, they use easy to use weapons, you know, IEDs, cars, knives, guns. And they can make decisions on the spur of the moment. We’re trying to get better at looking for red flags, as to when people who are getting radicalized sort of make that switch into potentially mobilizing.”
Wray said trying to stop homegrown extremists includes a lot of “outreach to the community, partnership with our state and local law enforcement who know those communities better, but it’s hard.”…

The first requirement is to be knowledgable about the adversary. One must understand the in most cases used Arabic texts for instruction to commit acts of terrorism. Former President Obama has in his 8-year presidency managed to destroy and weaken American Intelligence operations so as to render America incapable to defend itself against the Muslim attacks from outside as well as inside the USA. People such as Walid Shoebat, Brigitte Gabriel, and numerous others could be utilized to decipher the Arabic enemy instructions/communications. Secondly American Law enforcement must realize that America and the West are at war with Islam.
Islam is not a peace-loving religion but rather an extremely all life encompassing violent ideology. Islam should be classified as such.
WESTPAC Spy says
I have to disagree. The first requirement is to know yourself. If you don’t know your own strengths and weaknesses it does you little good to learn about your enemy.
For instance, I could have predicted our failures in Iraq and Afghanistan. In fact, I did. In September 2001 I attended a book signing in Coronado. I was with another Naval Officer and a Marine Captain. Naturally we retired to McP’s for a few drinks. We all knew we were going to war, and the Marine was really stoked about it. I hated doing it, because it was like telling a little kid there is no Santa Claus and no Easter Bunny, but I had to tell him that he was mistaking his Marines for average Americans. The people who join the military are not average, and I predicted that there was no way we were going to stick it out. I reminded him of how badly Vietnam turned out. U.S. armed forces may have lost tactically on occasion, but on whole we were never defeated in the field. Ho Chi Minh and company learned over time that they didn’t need to defeat us in the field when they could defeat us with propaganda at home.
My brother Naval officer and I had the unpleasant task of telling the Captain that we wouldn’t finish the job. And I hate to tell anyone reading this that we didn’t finish the job. Exhibit A for that assertion is this country voted twice for Barack Obama. Not like George Bush was any great prize. But Obama won on a platform that largely revolved around “ending” the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. You don’t end wars all by your lonesome. The enemy has a say in the matter. But this country ignored that basic fact of life and pulled out while the war in Iraq had simply waned from a fast boil to a slow simmer. And as soon as we pulled our forces out the war started boiling again.
You either win wars or you lose them. And what we have developed a taste for is losing wars. Or, as I more accurately describe it, abandoning our allies in the field. That particular way of losing wars has a long history.
But I submit that we had lost the war long before we pulled our forces out. We lost when we wrote the constitutions for both Iraq and Afghanistan and made Sharia the basic law of the land. Consequently both constitutions are full of contradictions. For instance both make it the law of the land that women and men are equal before the law. Yet per Sharia it takes two women to equal one man in court. And a rape victim has to have four male witnesses or the rapist must confess or else she will simply be convicting herself of zina; sexual sin.
Single ladies, if you travel to Saudi or the Gulf states for work or vacation (I have no idea why anyone let alone a woman would travel to Dubai for vacation but lots do) and you get raped, do not walk but run to the airport and catch the first flight out. Do not go to the hospital, because the staff WILL report you to the police for having sex outside of marriage. Especially do not go to the police as their investigation will begin and end with taking your statement and arresting you. I suppose you’ll be OK in the legal sense if you report that your husband raped you, but then there’s no such thing as marital rape in Islam so while you may escape prosecution your husband will definitely escape prosecution.
If you are single and become pregnant, that your body will provide enough evidence to convict you. Your body will convict you. If you are single but have a boyfriend do not travel to any of these places. Because if you’re not married both of you will be arrested and charged with sex outside of marriage. Western women have been arrested at airports for simply arriving in country while pregnant but unmarried. If you’re working in these countries (and the pay is very good) there’s a good possibility that one of your coworkers will drug you and rape you. Foolishly, many of these victims have gone to the police only to be victimized a second time by the legal system.
Of course, this doesn’t mean that women only have to worry about getting raped by the locals. In one awful case a woman was having drinks (yes, in Dubai you can drink in hotels and bars but check the local laws in the UAE as each emirate is different) with a couple of professional soccer players. They invited her up to their room. Unfortunately she took them up on their offer. And the two men raped her. So she went to the police.
This was a bad headwork on her part on multiple levels. First, her story began with her admitting that she went to a hotel room with a couple of men. That was enough to convict her, as it’s simply assumed under Sharia law that if a man/men and a woman are alone together they will have sex. And she went willingly. So there was no way her rape story would stick. The police arrested all three for zina.
This really isn’t so much of a digression as it is an illustration of just how badly we screwed the pooch in Iraq and Afghanistan. You can either have a constitution that guarantees equal rights to men and women, or you can have Sharia, but you can’t have both. We really suck at the nation building business. Personally I would not have stuck around for the nation building, but GWB stupidly listened to Powell and his infantile “Pottery Barn rule;” You break it you bought it.
No, we break things and leave the locals to figure out how to clean up the mess. That way they’ll think twice about giving us a reason to come back. While we did put the fear of Allah into them initially that fear has long since worn off. Our old enemy Moqtada al-Sadr just led a bloc that won the recent Iraqi elections. We were negotiating with the Taliban, for the love of God. I don’t know if we still are but if the Afghan government insists on it I don’t see how we can avoid it.
Can someone tell me what we accomplished after all this time, money, and casualties?
Norger says
Good post. I particularly liked this observation: “You can either have a constitution that guarantees equal rights to men and women, or you can have Sharia, but you can’t have both.”
Presumably our military/intelligence people had major input into drafting the Constitutions of both countries. Were we that naive or did we fatalistically recognize that any government (we installed) which didn’t recognize Sharia as the supreme law of the land would be deemed illegitimate by the citizens of these countries? You are right though, Sharia guarantees backwardness, misogyny, sectarian violence etc. Not exactly a prescription for nation-building.

Would bet two cases, no, make that four, of one’s favorite beer, that Christopher Wray knows didly shit about Islam.
If I’m correct here about the dearth of knowledge by Wray of Mo’s creed, and by so many others in the American intelligence community (“non-intelligence community” a more accurate descriptive?), it reveals the ultimate problem, i.e., Islam still getting a pass. Might as well give Nazism a pass as give Islam a pass. I highly suspect that people like Wray will miss all this and thus my bet about the four cases of beer functions as a safe bet in the sense that I won’t have to “pony up.”
It is truly stunning that some 17 years after 9/11, way too many Americans in way too many positions of power still don’t know such things as: 1) Islam being the only major faith which calls for war to be made upon all believers “until all religion is with Allah” {Sura 8:39}; 2) that the character of the reputed founder of Islam is one which reveals all kinds of psychopathic aspects; 3) that Islam requires death for apostasy {e.g., Sura 4:89}; 4) that Islam actually sanctions rape (“captives of the right hand” and all that rot); 5) that Islam has no true Golden Rule for all; and 6) that Islam in its theological blueprint, and as taught by every major school of Islamic theology to this very day, both Sunni and Shiite, looks upon non-Muslims as the equivalent of human waste.
Yeah, stunning that such ignorance of Islam still remains anywhere in the West, let alone among powerful people in the West like Christopher Wray, who should hang his head in shame for remaining so willfully ignorant about Islam, as should a ton of other very powerful people in the West.
Time for a beer. And to Christopher Wray I say this: You suck. But go ahead and prove me wrong. But you won’t because you can’t, so willfully ignorant about Islam do you remain. Shameful beyond all measure.

What stuns me, Wellington, is that many people in high places do understand Islam but think that they can keep it under control. Those are the worst fools of all.
Wellington says
Yes, CES, regarding such people it reminds me of those Germans in high places (e.g., Franz von Papen) in late 1932-1933 who did, at least to some extent, comprehend the menace of Hitler and the Nazis but who actually thought that bringing Hitler into the Weimar government in January of 1933 was a better way of controlling him than leaving him out of government circles. Well, we know how all that worked out, not don’t we?
Wellington says
“…now don’t we?” and not “…not don’t we?”
Two mistakes too many today.

I half agree/disagree, respectfully. I believe they absolutely DO understand Islam, but are – as you correctly state – attempting to both tame and appease it.
Norger says
And perhaps just a notch above those people who foolishly think they can control Islam are those who simply will not hear a bad word about Islam. To these people, no amount of citation to or quotation of Islamic scripture, or modern days examples of jihadists acting upon that scripture (e.g., beheadings, rape, slavery, random mass murder) , makes the slightest bit of difference.
Wellington says
That’s, per 1), “all non-believers” and not “all believers.” Though I could add, in fact I will add, that Muzzies are quite diligent about waging war upon fellow Muzzies deemed not quite Muzzie enough as well as upon those not Muzzie at all.
Yep, two things you can count on in this world, those being: 1) Muslims martially and with plenty of violence going after non-Muslims; and 2) Muslims martially and with plenty of violence going after fellow Muslims.
Instructive and damning. Indeed. My God, what a screwed-up religion Islam is. Imperative, I would argue, that tons of Muslims see all this and leave their faith—for their sake and for mankind’s sake.

Good thoughts from Wellington, especially why one should not bring PSYCHOPATHS into a government.
My response: ALL jihad is AGGRESSION. ALL Muslims are required to be AGGRESSIVE against the disbelievers in order to DOMINATE them.
JIHAD IS AGGRESSION. All Muslims LIE about jihad… that is VERBAL JIHAD.

This should not really scare us but should serve as a reminder for us to remain vigilant and to keep aware of our surroundings and stay alert to anything that looks not quite right. As in “What’s wrong with this picture? Then go ,if something wrong is seen, and tell the right person about it. For example, in NY.NY that Tee-shirt vendor who saw some smoke come out of a parked van and then told a police officer about it. Furthermore , as Americans we should and must remember that for the United States to continue as a great power in the world in spite of the current threats of the Islamic terrorism by jihadist /Muslim terrorists. So Americans then should have Vigilance, Conviction and, of course, Fortitude. As one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence had declared, Thomas Jefferson, “Let the eye of vigilance never be closed.” and “A conviction that we are right accomplishes half the difficulty of correcting wrong.” Likewise, Mr. Jefferson had also stated “Fortitude…teaches us to meet and surmount difficulties; not to fly from them.” So in other words we , as Americans ,should have learned keep moving on strongly with Vigilance, Conviction and Fortitude.

Unless Mr. Trump has changed it back, they no longer have the proper training to recognize when someone is planning terror.
The overwhelming threat is islam. Since what’s-his-face had all training materials re-written to exclude anything describing islam, the ideology, the goals, the training for terror, the terms used by the moslim terrorists, the groups that fund, encourage, train, and present a store-front for the murderers, how could the FBI and any other law enforcement know for what to look?
If they expect to change things, they need to go back to the training and put the terms back in. They need those with the knowledge to be training and teaching.
That story on the two moslims from pakistan who opened a grocery in St. Lewis back in the 90’s was on Forensic Files over the weekend. The teenage daughter wanted to be like other girls in the U.S. She had a job, a boy friend and dressed like the girls in school.
Her parents murdered her with a knife and claimed self-defense. If not for the FBI investigation of them for funding terror groups, and the father meeting with a known terrorist in Mexico, they would have gotten away with murder of their daughter. However, the FBI had tape recordings and one of them included the murder.
If that happened today, the parents just might escape the penalty for first degree murder.
Go back to proper training. Both materials and instructors.

Personally, taking university courses…from one where it hasn’t been squashed…makes one more informed than the FBI director. One of the reasons being, students are not restricted from searching out web sites such as JW and Mr’s. Ibrahim and Emerson…and a whole host of other sites and writers such as Daniel Greenfield.
Well-written texts that were not purged provide an abundance of information on identifying terrorists and their methods.

I think the challenge is that in order to track these cases, the FBI needs Muslims who look like Jihad terrorists to infiltrate cells. Your average white dude wouldn’t make it 5 feet in. So it’s a slippery slope….you have Muslim informants and Muslims who are preventing more attacks. So if the FBI alienates Islam too much, those Muslims who are helping protect us will no longer participate. Of course we know the truth about Islam but I think the FBI has to walk a fine line.

We only have this problem because so many Muslims have been allowed to invade.
Norger says
Even though the MSM regularly tries to feed us the BS us that “white supremacists”or “right wing extremists” are the real threat now, I seriously doubt there are anywhere near 1000 open “white supremacist” criminal investigations open right now. And of course the pool of potential “ white supremacist” or “white extremist” candidates is orders of magnitude larger than the pool of potential Islamic terrorist candidates. And there are 1000 open Islamic terrorist investigation open now WITHOUT the proper law enforcement resources being devoted (e.g. common sense measures as such as mosque surveillance). I predict that in my lifetime I will see another truly massive Islamic terrorist attack in a major American city with casualties in the thousands or higher. It’s going to take something like that—ANOTHER act of war “successfully “ perpetrated by jihadists in one of our cities, with another set of casualties in the thousands —to get our elected leaders’ collective heads out out their posteriors.
