John Kerry meeting with Iran’s Foreign Minister to sabotage Trump’s efforts to scrap the Iran nuke deal

May 4, 2018 9:02 pm By Robert Spencer

Does this not place Kerry in violation of federal law? The Logan Act forbids unauthorized people to engage in negotiations with foreign governments that are involved in disputes with the United States. The Logan Act’s intention is to prevent unauthorized negotiations from undermining the position of the U.S. government. Isn’t that exactly what Kerry is doing? Shouldn’t he be arrested and prosecuted?

Why is the Iran deal so bad? Find out all the shocking details in my book The Complete Infidel’s Guide to Iran.

“Kerry quietly seeking to salvage Iran deal he helped craft,” by Matt Viser, Boston Globe, May 4, 2018 (thanks to Dave):

WASHINGTON — John Kerry’s bid to save one of his most significant accomplishments as secretary of state took him to New York on a Sunday afternoon two weeks ago, where, more than a year after he left office, he engaged in some unusual shadow diplomacy with a top-ranking Iranian official.

He sat down at the United Nations with Foreign Minister Javad Zarif to discuss ways of preserving the pact limiting Iran’s nuclear weapons program. It was the second time in about two months that the two had met to strategize over salvaging a deal they spent years negotiating during the Obama administration, according to a person briefed on the meetings.

With the Iran deal facing its gravest threat since it was signed in 2015, Kerry has been on an aggressive yet stealthy mission to preserve it, using his deep lists of contacts gleaned during his time as the top US diplomat to try to apply pressure on the Trump administration from the outside. President Trump, who has consistently criticized the pact and campaigned in 2016 on scuttling it, faces a May 12 deadline to decide whether to continue abiding by its terms.

Kerry also met last month with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and he’s been on the phone with top European Union official Federica Mogherini, according to the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to reveal the private meetings. Kerry has also met with French President Emmanuel Macron in both Paris and New York, conversing over the details of sanctions and regional nuclear threats in both French and English.

The rare moves by a former secretary of state highlight the stakes for Kerry personally, as well as for other Obama-era diplomats who are dismayed by what they see as Trump’s disruptive approach to diplomacy, and who view the Iran nuclear deal as a factor for stability in the Middle East and for global nuclear nonproliferation. The pact, which came after a marathon negotiating session in Vienna that involved Iran and six world powers, lifted sanctions in return for Iran stopping its pursuit of nuclear weapons.

“It is unusual for a former secretary of state to engage in foreign policy like this, as an actual diplomat and quasi-negotiator,” said Michael O’Hanlon, a foreign policy expert at the Brookings Institution. “Of course, former secretaries of state often remain quite engaged with foreign leaders, as they should, but it’s rarely so issue-specific, especially when they have just left office.”…

Aaron, I think you misunderstand the situation. The Hon. John Kerry is a hero to millions of progressive people around the world for his deep commitment to peace and for his untiring efforts to build bridges between diverse societies.

It is ungracious to dwell on past controversies.

I believe that former Sec. Kerry would be an outstanding candidate for UN Secretary General. What’s more, the recent dramatic disclosures by PM Netanyahu regarding the hidden Iranian nuclear program 10-20 years ago highlights the wisdom of American diplomacy.

Sec. John Kerry stood strong against Iranian concessions. He deserves the Nobel Peace Prize.

If John Kerry were still Secretary of State, who would he be talking to about the Iran deal? The Javid creep and Euorpe’s second-most dangerous woman, Mogherini… so as a citizen he’s conducting foreign policy negotiations subversive to our sitting President with a hostile foreign government. Isn’t that a big part of what the leftists went after so many from Trump’s campaign and early administration for (spuriously)? The left surpasses themselves in idiocy and underhandedness on a daily basis which means we’re headed for a civilizational catastrophe if it isn’t stopped.

And Kerry the nitwit opportunist who flies over to France to play them a James Taylor song as a means of addressing the Bataclan massacre. Even at that moment it was about Kerry putting a flowery spin on jihadist fascism and mayhem rather than acknowledging what we know to be real as he feigns obliviousness and so puts us into civilizational peril in exchange for his own decadent, capricious, and trendy narcissism. The left’s pathological fetishes are on a track to do us in.

Question: For enabling and funding the Iranian nuclear weapons programme together with Iranian-sponsored terrorist movements in general, Obama received a Nobel “Peace” Prize – so how many will Trump get for re-writing the Iran nuclear deal, for pressuring North Korea into giving up nuclear weapons and signing a peace deal with South Korea, and for contributing to the stability of the Middle East by re-affirming American commitment to Israel ?

        (A) a wheel-barrow full, or (B) none at all ?

Phil, Your comment is not quiet correct even if you sentiment is. Hussein’s prize was even more insidious in that he received it for what he was going to accomplish after being elected president. It would have been wrong to have given him the award for selling out our nation to the mullahs by filling a plane full of cash like a drug dealer laundering money who are now funding at a greater rate Hamas and Hezbollah not only in the Middle East but in places such as Venezuela and Brazil as well as sleeper cells here in the US but he was given it for the good that he never accomplished.

          Sedition
A revolt or an incitement to revolt against established authority, usually in the form of Treason or Defamation against government. The crime of seditious conspiracy is committed when two or more persons in any state or U.S. territory conspire to levy war against the U.S. government. A person commits the crime of advocating the violent overthrow of the federal government when she willfully advocates or teaches the overthrow of the government by force, publishes material that advocates the overthrow of the government by force, or organizes persons to overthrow the government by force.

Now in what way in your opinion does the deal protect from Iran?
The deal is based on assumption that Iran will be honest, which it is not.
That Iran will disclose their activities, which they don’t.
        Obviously it should be canceled.

        You made good points, Moshe!

US and its allies and its allies need to understand that they have no other viable option but keep this deal and work with Iran and other signatories to the deal. More sanctions on Iran won’t hurt Iran much but will only complicate the situation more and create more hostilities. Military air strikes on Iran won’t work against Iran either and land invasion on Iran is out of the question as it will end very badly for the invaders and start a very BLOODY regional war in the whole ME and mostly likely beyond the ME. The best option is respect the deal by all its signatories and work from there to deescalate the situation in a more balanced way without bombastic diplomatic bullying and/or military threats.

John Kerry married Theresa Heinz, the widow of Senator John Heinz (Pennsylvania), who died
in a plane crash. [Yes, Heinz as in the Heinz ketchup dynasty]

Ms. Theresa, a Pakistinian, contributed (using Heinz money) for years to “TIDE”, which then launders money anonymously to other organizations, most notably CAIR.

Ms. Theresa lobbied for years for relaxation of immigration restrictions of moslems from
        designated “terrorist” countries.

Ms. Theresa also sits as a chairperson of an organization (and contributed to this organization), that funds and backs an anti-Semite restaurant in Pittsburgh, which buys
its supplies only from countries that are at war with the United States, and which
restaurant wraps its sandwiches in wrappers calling for death to Israelites.

Can’t be, Flavius and Linda. Islamic laws do not allow Christians to repair old churches, guaranteeing their eventual destruction by time. Saudi Arabia may build them, or allow others to build them (let us hope so!), but it will bring unimaginable outrage throughout the Islamic world because the Saudis would be abetting and promoting heresy, according to their religion. Saudi Arabia is the guardian of Islam’s most holy site, the Kaaba in Mecca, which would make it all the harder for them to break out into a form of religious indifference and place their citizens in the position of possibly joining one of the Christian churches. It would be less shocking if Crown Prince bin Salman converted to Judaism.

I understand that with all his billions, MbS has a hobby of collecting the most expensive things on earth, but I was thinking that since the painting is called The Saviour of the World, and not “just another prophet” as the Muslims would have us believe, there’s something almost supernatural about it being in Saudi Arabia now. If Jesus came back, He might go to the most troubled, darkest place on earth where souls were the least free. Just a thought.

Geez eh? Frank Zappa tried to negotiate deals with Vaclav Havel and the Government of Czechoslovakia, but the US Government issued an ultimatum that the Czech Govrnment could either deal with Zappa or it could deal with the US Government but it could not deal with Zappa on behalf of the US Government. A few years later, Zappa died mysteriously of cancer.

    “The truth is out there.”

I’m a Trump supporter but I don’t know for how much long . He seems to suddenly have a finger in his nse and the other in the ass. How come criminals like Hillary and Bill are still moving around? How come Hussein the traitor is not in Guantanamo with McCain ? What about Rosenstein and Mueller ? And Q that tells us every week to stay strong , to trust the plan , to trust Sessions . I’m fed up with this .

Mike, I think you will be waiting a *very* long time for this. I just hoped Trump would be an improvement over Obama, and possibly over Bush. The idea that he is going to be able to send former presidents to Guantanamo is not realistic, to put it mildly…

jk has his all the way to his esophagus. he hates our country except for what he can steal from and use his insider position to better himself; isn’t his wife’s money enough?? he is a traitor through and through. he has NO value whatsoever, he truly is a fool and so proud of himself. obama is over, they just don’t get it. they are DONE far as our country goes. I’m thankful we have a President who has some common sense and he doesn’t need graft from anyone to get things accomplished. the Nobel peace prize is a FARCE. they gave it to obama for a failed iran deal and a disaster to the world. They should use the money to cleanse their country of the cretins so their country can at least keep its dignity. HE AND OTHERS LIKE HIM ARE TRAITORS; WHERE IS THE INVESTIGATION ON THEM????? WAKE UP MUELLER, YOU ARE A FAKE.

This is George Soros throwing his money around so that Americans won’t get behind their president. I wish those democrats would leave the president alone. When Obama was president the Republicans didn’t hound him like this.

  14. mgoldberg says

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the entirety of the Mueller tam, the democratic party, the intellignece agencies are out there trying see if there was any kind of collusion of any kind by Pres. D.Trump with the Russians. Indeed- they’ve found none, but it was all a ruse to simply smear the man and find anything to smear him with and prevent his presidency. And as for Kerry- the traitor who defies the Logan act- literally
working to undermine the political negotiations of President Trump, generates not a hint of msm interest
in the ‘collusion’ and the concomitant ramifications.
It’s time we took the gloves off and went after the whole snakepit…..

“Of course, former secretaries of state often remain quite engaged with foreign leaders, as they should, ” And why is that, again? We have elections here. We elect a president and whether we like him or not he is the head of state until we elect someone else. John Kerry or any other “former secretary of state” has no function in our government. If he is ever to have a function he will need to either be elected or appointed by someone we elect to be the head of state. I have never seen any doctrine or law which states that there is a role of any kind for a “former” secretary of anything, except as a private citizen, speaking or writing freely on his own behalf and not in representation of anything else. This kind of idea is confusing to other nations and dangerous. Former secretaries of state should NOT remain engaged with foreign leaders.

    • gravenimage says

      May 5, 2018 at 12:09 pm

True–while former secretaries of state may speak out–like any private citizens–the idea that they can independently negotiate with foriegn leaders on behalf of the United States is ridiculous.

  16. No Muzzies Here says

A big violation of the law. Obviously it’s very important for Obama and his minions to give Iran a nuclear bomb so that it can impose its way of life on the surrounding countries.

  17. Walter Sieruk says

    May 5, 2018 at 11:13 am

What a fool Kerry must be that he feels that he had actually come to a worthwhile deal of good value with that tyrannical “mullah regime” of Iran by attempting to work out a compromise with those Muslim tyrants in power in Iran. The outcome of foolishly trying to work out a compromise resulted that the hoax and farce of a “deal.” A former US President, Franklin D. Roosevelt , had well-spoken when he said “There has never been – there never can be – successful compromise between good and evil.”

The question asked is correct. It is a violation of the Logan Act. Kerry should be prosecuted for this. He will not be due to the fact that AG Sessions is not in charge of anything including the DOJ. We know it is an Obama sycophant in Rosenstein who really is in charge of the DOJ, and as long as he remains in charge, Kerry will get get away with breaking the law.

Does Kerry somehow believe in his left, liberal bubble that he is still Sec of State and Obambie is potus?!?!?!?! He should be in jail or at the least house arrest cut off from communicating with any gov’t officials.

  21. Ray Jarman says

    May 5, 2018 at 9:47 pm

If Kerry and President Hussein thinks that their traitorous deal is so good for the world and that the mullahs in Iran are trust worthy, why did the Hussein administration NOT open formal relations with them and re-open the U. S. Embassy in Tehran? Also, why has Kerry not visited Tehran to meet directly with the savages. President Trump is using whiteout to eliminate Hussein’s, I will enact with this pen, acts against the American people as well as against the world.

  24. Doug Smith says

    May 6, 2018 at 11:22 am

President Trump should thoroughly embarass him publicly by make a public statement to the world that John Kerry carries absolutely no weight or credibility in anything he may say to any foreign government any more than any other American citizen. In other words anything he says is simply nothing more than his opinion and everyone knows about opinions. I’m sure that the DJT Trump could come up with something far more entertaining and succinct that would put Kerry in his place and let there be no doubt to any foreign gov thereby making his visits useless unless any dignitary chooses to listen to a failed administrator of the failed Obammy admin.
