At best, it hangs by a thread. My latest in PJ Media:
Last week, British police made two arrests that may come to signify nothing less than Britain’s demise as a free society.
On Friday, activist Tommy Robinson was arrested outside a courthouse where the trial of a Muslim rape gang was taking place. Tommy was discussing Britain’s rape gang crisis on a livestream when the arrest took place (as shown in this video). Police said he was arrested for “breaching the peace,” but it was patently obvious that he was arrested for “offending Islam.”
A judge then imposed a gag order — on the media.
Obviously, they know how bad this makes the British justice system look. But soon after Tommy was arrested, Caolan Robertson of Rebel Media posted — and then removed because of the gag order — a tweet saying: “Tommy Robinson has just been given a 13 month prison sentence starting now for his livestream today. This is a death sentence for tommy [sic]. He is going to die in jail. This has to be stopped.”
Tommy Robinson seems to have been arrested, tried, and sentenced all in the same morning. He was given this harsh sentence because he was deemed to have violated the terms of an earlier probation, which apparently included a prohibition on making videos outside courthouses. But the prohibition on him doing that was outrageous and politically motivated in the first place. Clearly he was arrested, rather than simply given a warning, because of who he is and what he does. His arrest was of a piece with the government’s desire to keep people ignorant and complacent regarding Muslim rape gangs and the high cost of mass Muslim migration.
The 13-month sentence Tommy received could likely result in his demise.
Like Britain First leader Paul Golding, Robinson will likely be placed in the general prison population, which is dominated by violent Muslims who will be quite happy to dispatch him to face Allah’s judgment.
This case is much bigger than Tommy Robinson. Whatever one may think of him and his work, style, or approach, he is being harassed and persecuted by the British government for calling attention to the activity of Muslim rape gangs — which British authorities have done everything they could to cover up — and to jihad violence and Sharia oppression in general.
The second arrest, as captured in this video, was that of a middle-aged woman named Amy who was arrested on Wednesday at her home. Amy began filming the officers with her phone as police demanded she let them in.
Amy asked them if she was going to be arrested and asked them what the charge was; they refused to answer. They simply repeated their demand that she let them in, threatening to break down the door if she did not. Amy’s confusion and fear at being confronted by police at her door at nine o’clock in the morning are palpable.
When she does open the door, she is told she is under arrest. A young male policeman bellows: “Do not resist us!” He and his female partner roughly handcuff Amy and lead her away.
This arrest may have happened, at least in part, because last month, Amy confronted London police in Hyde Park — as you can see in this video — where Muslims were placing down their prayer mats on the walkways and conducting public prayer. She pointed out to them that it was against the law to hold public prayers in parks, but police responded only with obfuscation and indifference.
However, Amy wasn’t arrested for embarrassing the London police. At least not officially. As you can see from yet another video, she was arrested for “homophobia,” not “Islamophobia.”
Apparently Amy said “Have a gay day” to a gay rights activist who confronted her, and is being charged with assault for pushing him away. An assault charge, given that Amy is hardly an imposing physical presence and walks with a cane, is absurd and obviously trumped-up.
Amy’s arrest seems to indicate that British police are now arresting people for having “unacceptable” opinions. It appears as if Britain is now fully a police state, in which people can be arrested and brutalized on nebulous “hate” charges, and have no rights, no recourse.
Given the fact that Theresa May’s government is eagerly Sharia-compliant, it is entirely possible that Amy was targeted also for reminding police of the law forbidding public prayer in parks, or for “Islamophobia” in general. If she wasn’t, such arrests are coming, and coming soon.
The British government, in arresting Tommy Robinson and Amy, is showing itself willing to incarcerate people for having opinions that it considers unacceptable. That heralds the death of Britain as a free society and the beginning of an authoritarian police state there — unless this slide to totalitarianism is stopped now. British public figures, whatever criticism they have leveled against Tommy Robinson in the past, must call for him to be freed today, or else they expose themselves as supporting the degeneration of Britain into a police state.
These videos ought to shock the world and lead to an international denunciation of Britain’s slide into totalitarianism, and to calls for it to respect the human rights of all its citizens — not just Muslims….

Mark Collett is an idiot. He could not be more wrong. “Free Speech” is not an absolute. It comes with responsibilities and does not provide people with a blanket authorization to say whatever they want whenever they want. There are restrictions to it. The most oft used example of a restriction is being unable to shout “FIRE” in a crowded area such as a theatre Also it is not surprising that Germany, given its history and the wish to distant its current self from it, would enact AND enforce laws which make it illegal to publically deny the Holocaust.
Andy says
It is good to have diversity of debate, Just like diversity is our strength. Everyone have a say and debate it and then correct it but at least you allowed people a right to freely speak.
Rarely says
Of course. BUT there are restrictions to that Free Speech some of which we may even agree upon.
Jayell says
Mark Collet was talking about legal technicalities. The actuality was that TR was not actually prejudicing the trial at all. Whilst the authorities had justification for some kind of action on a point of law, the extent of their action should have reflected the extent of TR’s action, i.e., relstively minimal, and there was absolutely no need for the obscenely excessive haste, which betrayed an authoritarian lack of eqitable consideration and lack of concern for the image they might be projecting nationally and internationally- which equates to a derisory attitude towards the sizeable section of the UK population that might either support TR or have any sympathy with his cause. Therefore, if this event turns into an international backlash which might conceivably trigger the demise of the current UK establishment with all the associated consequences, they will.only have themselves to blame. Given the known track record of the UK establishment to date and the size of the backlash even at this early stage, it may already be too late to avoid serious consequences.

PRCS says
Well, GI, that’s your opinion.
The judge disagrees.
Joe says
PRCS, but how could the judge, if sane, disagree? TR was outside and had no affect on the trial. Does the public not pay for the prison and police system? How can the judge use these resources while keeping it hidden from the people who pay for it?
Do you consider the judge just? Do you think TR can’t be in polite society? Would you rather have TR or the judge as your neighbor?
PRCS says
Well Joe,
I believe the judge acted according to the law.

PRCS, I do not agree with this judge that freedom of speech should be crushed in Britain. I consider this neither moral nor right.

GI, I suggest you write a letter of protest to the judge.

PRCS, you may believe that it is right–and legal–for Britain, one of the cradles of free speech–to crush its practice.
With all respect, I do not.
And yes–I do spend a lot of time writing letters.
PRCS says
No, I don’t believe that.
I believe the judge is well versed in British law.
Anton says
PRCS: “I believe the judge is well versed in British law.”
Well if these laws allow him to restrict someone’s right to speak freely these are tyrannical laws. In this particular case, Tommy Robinson was not arrested and sentenced for violating some existent LAW but for violating previous judge decision which was based on the right for the judge to restrict someone’s right to speak freely! This judge along with the government have found a technical way using your laws to rule tyrannical way. That’s their choice. Even if there are lawful ways to be tyrannical you don’t have to be tyrannical. Your support of this is a support of this nascent tyranny.

Interestingly, you preferred to avoid further discussion in the form that I outlined. Particularly how to estimate laws, that allow suppressing of free speech, how to estimate the decisions of the branches of power to use every technical possibility to destroy their opponents literally instead of opposing them in a verbal or any other not so harsh form. According to the unwritten demagoguery rule you just suggest to use my right to protest this judge decision? Well, I have already put in my two cents here.

pragmatist says
Apart from the ‘fire’ allusion, the only restriction on free speech should be direct incitement to violence. There should be no restriction on the grounds of giving offence – no one has the right not to be offended.
Carolyne says
Pragmatist, you are entirely correct. Some here may assent to having their freedom to speak their mind restricted, but I will not and do not. The only exception directed by the Supreme Court as an example, is yelling “Fire” in a crowded theatre, or one assumes in any crowded place falsely. Otherwise, free speech has no punishing consequences and according to the First Amendment to the Constitution of the US, never will. That is why it is first. It is most important.
No one, including the Government, has the right to restrict my speech and I will fight for that principle until death, if necessary. That is how important it is to maintaining all our freedoms which were given to us and written down by our Founding Fathers. The same with guns. They knew that a tyrannical government is possible and they wanted their citizens to be prepared to defend against it.
Little pussy cat milk toasts might be willing to surrender, but as Margaret Thatcher said, “Surrender is not in our vocabulary.” All snowflakes go to your “Safe places” immediately. You might get your feelings hurt.

Mr. Spencer, could you please upload them again via a different method? Thank you.
Anton says
Restriction on “fire” alert is of the same sort as direct incitement to violence. Both are aimed at creating disturbance and resulting victims which otherwise would not happen at all. The point here is that if you use your right to speak freely to inspire violence or other destruction deliberately and groundlessly then you should be in court and punished if this is proven. In any other case, there should not be any restrictions if they want to call it free speech.

All this fuss around the world and where the UK media aren’t just ignoring TR they’re posting fatuous dismissals of the situation. They really are totally lacking integrity and exhibiting crass dishonesty. But the worst thing to emerge from this came out in an interview with our Katie and one.of your leading personalities where the case of a gentleman who died in prison after having been put away for leaving a piece of bacon by a mosque was actually murdered by muslim inmates – and all the public were told was that he’d just happened to die there! That amounts to gross deception and is BEYOND DISGUSTING. Time for some un-British action, I think.

By all accounts Tommy Robinson is NOT an innocent man. Knowing full well the likely result of his actions did not stop him from taking those actions. His “Freedom of Speech” does not trump an accused’s right to a fair trial. It was a very sensitive case and he could not expect the police to simply say “Move along”.
I am more upset because 10 months was added to his sentence apparently without due process but I suspect that the laws and procedures are different in GB.
All that having been said, his “crime” was not so serious that his life should be forfeit. Contempt of Court is not a capital offence. Clearly he should be serving his sentence in protective custody.
Personally I abhor the crimes and would like to see these guys castrated and deported and am against anything which may get in the way of their conviction.

When people have the freedom to speak and to hear what others have to say, those in ” power” have less power over the people.
The British government, and others around the earth, are using islam and people’s need to speak the truth about it, to silence the public. In forcing silence, they are increasing their power.
Revelation describes the time in which we are living. We have been warned that the “wild beast out of the sea’ would make it impossible to “buy and sell” without having the mark of the beast.
The “mark” is control, conformity, obedience, and worship of the power of the beast.
The Bible tells us that the people worshipping the wild beast and the dragon, ask the questions, “Who is like the wild beast? and Who can do battle with it?”
These people believe that no one has the power to defeat satan and his beast.
This is what we are seeing now. It is going to get much worse.
And one day soon, both will be defeated, as Revelation assures us.

On it’s web page, The British Home Office states that:-
The first duty of the government is to keep citizens safe and the country secure. The Home Office has been at the front line of this endeavour since 1782. As such, the Home Office plays a fundamental role in the security and economic prosperity of the United Kingdom.

I’m starting to think that as much as none of us seems to agree with Islam on this site, (except a very few), Islam may not be the real problem. We are sort of the authors of our own demise in that we sat by and said nothing while the Barcelona Declaration went into effect, when Coudenhove-Kalergi’s ideas were promoted by our politicians, while the EU was formed and made operational, while multiculturalism, diversity and inclusion were shoved down our throats, etc. Our politicians didn’t inform us that this is what they were doing, but they should have because they were elected to serve the people, not to decide what they thought was best for the people. However, we just let them do this to us and now, here we are with our very existence in jeopardy. If we don’t want the NWO, now is the time to do something about it.
dumbledoresarmy says
“…we sat by and said nothing while the Barcelona Declaration went into effect, when Coudenhove-Kalergi’s ideas were promoted by our politicians, while the EU was formed and made operational, while multiculturalism, diversity and inclusion were shoved down our throats, etc. ..”.
Who is “we”??? All the non-Muslims of Europe? Of the USA? Of the UK? Of Australia? Canada? New Zealand? But if living in countries outside of Europe, why do you assume they would ALL – every voting citizen – know about such things? And if they *were* outside of Europe, citizens of – say, Australia, or the USA – WHAT do you expect them to have ‘done’ to stop this or that??
The Barcelona Declaration happened in 1995. There are people in their 20s now who were not even *born* in 1995: how could they possibly be responsible for not ‘doing anything’? Then there are those who, in 1995, were aged 3, 5, 10, 15. How are *they* to be held responsible for what went on way above their heads.
*I* do not recall hearing *anything at all* about any of those things you have just mentioned (I am in Australia). In 1995 I was a young mum with two young children aged 5 and 2 and I was NOT avidly following affairs in Europe. The (sober and generally accurate and well-informed) evangelical Christian guide-to-intercession that I *was* using at that time (and had been using ever since 1986) – ‘Operation World’ – did not refer to any of those things; it focused primarily on the *state of the church*. I had read the Koran; I knew generally that Islam was dangerous; I knew about the apostasy law, because of having read testimonies of formerly-Muslim converts to Christianity; but that is as far as my awareness went. And I am not uneducated. (I did not read Bat Yeor’s ‘Eurabia’ until *after* 2003).
I would assume that there were many, many people out there – not stupid people, and not ignorant or atheist – who are in much the same case.
Linda says
I was referring to every person in the West because we’re all facing this now. I put as much emphasis on “Our politicians didn’t inform us that this is what they were doing, but they should have because they were elected to serve the people, not to decide what they thought was best for the people.” as on anything else I wrote. We could hardly imagine that our own politicians would put us in such a position without even properly informing us, but here we are. “Eternal vigilance is the price of freedom.”

The accounts of the two videos in the links given in this report have both been removed by youtube. Unless there is a suspected immediate threat to life or property inside a premises, demands for the occupant to open the door to her/his home without giving any reason for it by a police officer must be illegal. Either training has dropped severely in quality since I retired or IQ’s of officers has dropped! Why do officers not refuse to carry out unlawful orders? They are only as good as the training they get. Garbage in, Garbage out! (GIGO) A year or two ago, prior to a march by the EDL in Norwich, at a pre-march briefing, a senior officer gave instructions to the effect of that EDL marchers were to be arrested at the “first word” that came from their mouths. An officer with years of experience in public order objected, saying “you can’t do that. If the first words out of their mouth is “good morning” what offence have they committed?”. The officer was then taken off the operation and moved from his unit. (This is officially hearsay from an officer whom I trust implicitly).
