Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

The Armenian and Greek Genocides: What the Turkish government is covering up

May 7, 2018 1:00 pm By Robert Spencer

Recently three organizations, Human Rights Association (İHD) İstanbul Branch, Commission Against Racism and Discrimination, and the European Grassroots Antiracist Movement (EGAM) planned to hold a commemoration in Istanbul, honoring the victims of the Armenian Genocide of April 1915. The Turkish government, however, first demanded that the word “genocide” be removed from the statement that was going to be read out at the commemoration, and then, when this was refused, canceled the event altogether, and jailed three of its participants.

This draconian action was of a piece with the Turkish government’s longstanding and consistent denial that any genocide took place. Consistent with the usual Islamic supremacist practice of denying all responsibility for wrongdoing, the Turkish government continues to insist that neither the Ottomans nor the Kemalists bear any guilt for the eradication of the Armenian and Greek presence from Asia Minor — a presence that dated from time immemorial.

In my new book The History of Jihad From Muhammad to ISIS (click here to preorder), I reveal what Turkish authorities are so intent upon covering up, including:

  • The British official who witnessed Armenians being “thrown upon their backs and their throats cut, after the manner in which sheep are sacrificed”
  • Conservative estimates just from the initial wave of the Genocide: churches converted to mosques: 328. Churches plundered: 508. Christians forcibly converted to Islam: 15,000.
  • “We made war on the Armenian unbelievers”: an Ottoman soldier’s enthusiastic letter home, vowing to “kill all the Armenians” in the town to which he was traveling
  • The shocking reason why the Armenian Genocide was carried out: revealed by an Ottoman interior minister
  • Ottoman official who declared: “we must finish off the Greeks as we did with the Armenians.…today I sent squads to the interior to kill every Greek on sight”
  • The chilling Ottoman response to objections to the genocide by the Ambassador from the United States
  • When the New York Times actually reported new: its warning that there would “soon be no more Christians in the Ottoman Empire”
  • How Adolf Hitler used the Armenian Genocide as a template for his genocide of the Jews
  • Much more

Robert, you must be mistaken. We’re told over and over (read that as ‘indoctrinated’) that Islam has always been “a religion of peace”. (The brainwashing is not working.)

The genocides of 1915-1924 were perpetrated by the authority of Turkish Ottoman government under the EXPLICIT ORDER of the SULTAN, its head of state in morally and legally binding document called:

the “‘Fatwa of 1914’or ‘A Universal Proclamation to All People of Islam’ Published by the National Society of Defence – The Seat of the Caliphate – (anno hegirae 1333) Printed in the Mutha’at’el Haireyet.”

This document gives clear instructions for ordinary Muslims to slaughter infidels who are fighting the Ottoman Empire acting on their own independent initiative.

Actually, the Armenian Genocide began at least as early as 1895, and proceeded in waves of bloody vliolence up until the destruction of Smyrna in 1922.

The Turks also “taxed” Christian towns by taking their little boys, castrating them and putting them in the Turkish army as janissaries after converting them to Islam.

here is a geniune scholar of middle eastern history – Mr Bernard Lewis – providing a factual account of the events leading up to the fall and dismemberment of the Ottoman Empire:

    https://youtu.be/qG70UWESfu4

very succintly summarized in a 3 minute explanatory video. Enough to take the air out the sail of any article written by Mr Spencer on the topic!

    • gravenimage says

      May 7, 2018 at 5:33 pm

The thing is, of course, that Muslim apolgists like the absurdly self-styled “Falsafa” will be threatning Infidels with another Armenian Genocide when they gain enough power, rather than denying it.

As noted, the Armenian Genocide is actually one of the most abundantly documented atrocities in history.

      • Rarely says

        May 7, 2018 at 6:38 pm

Actually Falsafa is correct in that Bernard Lewis, often referred to as the “Dean of Mideast Scholars”, actually took the position that it was not a “genocide” in the usual meaning of the word (as if it has a “usual” meaning). However, that does not definitively end the debate as many other eminent scholars disagree. The differences seem to be based on whether the Turkish gov’t (the Ottoman Empire at the time) ordered the mass murder of the Armenians who had been rebelling against Ottoman rule. Mr. Lewis pushes the blame on overly enthusiastic Ottoman soldiers rather than gov’t decree. He is not denying that the massacres took place or that the Turks were to blame. However Mr. Lewis’ is not the last word on the issue.
The Turks may have a point that it is “misnaming” the event (1914-25) but I don’t think it matters much to the 1,000,000 to 1,500,000 Armenians who were slaughtered.
“A rose by any other name would smell as sweet”.

Well, the goal was not wiping out Christians everywhere, but certainly throughout the Ottoman Empire–there were an estimated 1.5 million murdered.

This is rather like saying that the Holocaust was not a genocide, because there were some Jews living in Brooklyn…

  5. The European says

    May 7, 2018 at 5:08 pm

Bernard Lewis is a liar, he is a pro-Islam whore, he has even denied that there was such a thing as Muslim slave trade. When he talks about Islam, he always tries to justify the wrongdoings of that barbarous belief system or he denies them straightaway.
-Mass killings of Armenians started at the end of the nineteenth century. Armenians who tried hard to win basic civil rights ( which had already been granted to them in compliance with the so-called Tanzimut-reforms, but were revoked afterwards), were persecuted by the Ottoman state and between 1894 and 1896 Sultan Abdul Hamid II organized state progroms in which hundreds of thousands Armenians were massacred.
    – In 1908 the “Young Turks” came to power, a Turkish-nationalistic movement headed by Enver Pascha and Talaat Pascha. These “Young Turks” wanted to “turkify” the Ottoman empire, that is, all Christian and non-Turkish minorities would be done away with one way or another.
-In April 1915 the government of the Young Turks started carrying out their plans for genocide
-On April 24 1915, about 300 Armenian intellectuals and wealthy merchants were rounded up in Istanbul, they were put in jail and executed shortly afterwards.
-Armenian soldiers serving in the Ottoman army were disarmed, the Turks affected them to so-called “labour battalions;” The were employed in roadworks. When the Turks thought they were of no more use to them, they killed them
-Deportations on a large scale started at the end of spring 1915, death marches of Armenian civilians were organized, children, women, old people were marched off to the Syrian desert -without food, without water, without shelter; they simply starved to death or died of exposure.
-The “Young Turks” created a “Special Organisation,” which organized “killing squads” and “butcher battalions” who massacred the Armenians by the thousands.
-Government squads kidnapped Armenian children, converted them to Islam by force, they raped women, forced them to work as salves for the Turks or to join Turkish harems
-The property of the deported Armenians was seized by the state and given to Muslim families.
-Before WWI there lived about 2 million Armenians in the Ottoman Empire, when the war was over, there were only 388 000 left. You can do the math by yourself.
-Ottoman religious authorities had declared war on all Christians except their allies. So, the extermination of the Armenians was not only motivated by the racist and ultra-nationalistic views of the Young Turks, but also by the deeply ingrained hatred of Islam.
-Oh, yes, there were some Armenians who put up volunteer battalions in the Caucasus region in order to help the Russians against the Turks, but that was not an “Armenian conspiracy,” and the incident in Van to which this parody of a professor is referring in the video, was not a general Armenian uprising, but a a desperate fight the Armenians of Van had put up to avoid deportation.
This was a genocide, and anybody who says otherwise is a liar!

    • Richard says

      May 7, 2018 at 5:33 pm

I really can’t see how anyone can deny it. There is FAR too much documentation on it, including eyewitness accounts, many of them printed in major newspapers at the time.

      • Carol the 1st says

        May 8, 2018 at 11:52 pm

Bernard Lewis certainly seemed talented for his time but he looks a little too much like a Karen Armstrong nowadays in light of our further exposure to the Islamic mindset. Here’s one quick example of his writings:
“The earliest specifically anti-Semitic statements in the Middle East occurred among Christian minorities, and can usually be traced back to European originals…Muslim comments usually favored the persecuted Jew [Dreyfus] against his Christian persecutors. But the poison continued to spread, and starting in 1933, Nazi Germany and its various agencies made a concerted and on the whole remarkably successful effort to promote European-style anti-Semitism in the Arab world.”

Our bad it seems…but didn’t al-Banna, founder of the Muslim Brotherhood, and his good friend the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem do a lot of the initial courting of Hitler? Two of the largest divisions of the SS were made up of Arab volunteers. Why they couldn’t keep up with them! Lewis takes a suspicious skew a little too often.

Excellent post with iron clad facts. So many in the West think Ataturk and his vile young followers were a gift of secularism for Turkey, instead they ushered in the first recorded genocide of 3,500,000 Anatolian Christians and 150,000 Assyrian Christians.
They should be grouped along side Stalin and Hitler as mass murders.

The Crusades, as you know, were a response to Islamic expansion and warfare in Europe. You leave out how many Christians were slaughtered and enslaved during the pre-crusade period, but it is suffice to say it was millions. Like Obama, you conveniently ignore the reason for the Crusades and blame Christians for a response to Muslim aggression and oppression. The fact that Jews got swept up in the violence is unfortunate but has an historic precedent based on the Jewish inspired death of Jesus.

Muslims now have a 1400 year history to examine, and it is one of great violence, slavery, and every form of abuse of women, children and those called infidels. Islam is a danger to the world and brings nothing but horror and unhappiness wherever it goes. Western Europe is in the process of re-learning this truth.

Even Bernard Lewis estimated that around 1.5 million Christians died at the hands of Muslims in Turkey during the Armenian Genocide.

And Ibrahim itace muhammed has made this ludicrous claim about the Crusades before–but the estimate for all those who died in the Crusades on all sides–including those who died of disease and accidents enroute to the Middle East–was no more than 1,7 million.

And, as others have noted, the Crusades were primarily *defensive* wars.

In contrast, the estimated toll for Islam over the centuries is a horrifying 270 million–and that figure is steadily mounting as we speak.

I guess that since a few small groups of Jews made defensive stands against the Nazi’s and some even joined the resistance movements, this would make the holocaust another “civil conflict” in your eyes?

Why does the Islamic community continue to push for the Bosnian Serb conflict to be classified as a genocide? There were surely Muslims who fought against the pogroms right?

Or how about the “Rohingya” issue? Again, Muslims are all to willing to call this conflict a genocide or at least an attempt despite the fact that the Rohingya have constantly attacked Myanmar govt. And military targets. One could even call the Rohingya the original aggressors due to these attacks.

The Muslim view of history is as warped as their view of culture, women’s rights, and pedophilia put together. It is the rewriting of history that is the absolute foundation of the religion of islam itself. Why then should we be surprised at this attempt to whitewash the past?

And though in scale and brutality a much smaller crime, we can add to the above, the Turkish military invasion and partition of Cyprus – a display from beginning to end of Islamic dominance and supremacism, bringing new land into the Islamic fold.

Considering Hamidian massacres (1894-1996), in which Ottoman caliph-sultan already acted together with Turkish nationalist political forces that were to “change” country and take its power soon, and until 1924 (and ‘a bit’ on) Kemal Ataturk’s ‘secular’ republic, more than 4,5 M non-muslims were METICULOUSLY AND DELIBERATELY PLANNED AND REMOVED from Asia-minor land, in fact their land for millennia.
Those include directly slaughtered, murdered by famine, murdered by repressions and persecutions and in labor camps, killed by chemicals or medicines, burned alive, frequently in piles and in their homes/villages/churches, crucified and left, thrown from high places or into deep caves, deported, exchanged population with Greece, etc.
    Winston Churchill:
“Holocaust / clearance… of the race from Asia Minor was about as complete as such an act, on a scale so great, could well be. … There is no reasonable doubt that this crime was planned and executed for political reasons… The opportunity presented itself for clearing Turkish soil of a Christian race opposed to all Turkish ambitions, cherishing national ambitions that could only be satisfied at the expense of Turkey, and planted geographically between Turkish and Caucasian Moslems”… Even if Constantinople were to fall /in the First world war/ and Turkey lost the war, the clearance would have been effected and a permanent advantage for the future of the Turkish race would be granted…”
