Recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and moving the U.S. Embassy is the most important move a U.S. President has made since Ronald Reagan called on Mikhail Gorbachev to tear down the Berlin Wall. In both cases, the Presidents were warned against doing what they ultimately did, for fear of heightening tensions and provoking retaliatory violence. In both cases, the Presidents decided to stand up against violent intimidation, rather than bowing to it, enabling it, and encouraging it by giving the bullies what they wanted.
“U.S. Embassy road signs go up in Jerusalem,” Reuters, May 7, 2018:
JERUSALEM – At least three US Embassy road signs went up in Jerusalem on Monday ahead of next week’s opening of the mission in accordance with President Donald Trump’s recognition of the city as Israel’s capital.
A Reuters witness saw workmen installing the signs, in English, Hebrew and Arabic, near the south Jerusalem location of a US consulate building that will be repurposed as the embassy when it is officially relocated from Tel Aviv on May 14.
Trump announced the move in December, saying he was making good on US legislation and presidential pledges, dating back decades, to back Israel’s designation of Jerusalem as its capital.
Other world powers have not done so, sidestepping one of the thorniest disputes between Israel and the Palestinians, and Trump’s policy shift drew consternation among some US allies.
“This move is not only illegal but will also thwart the achievement of a just and lasting peace between two sovereign and democratic states on the 1967 borders, Israel and Palestine living side by side in peace and security,” Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat said in a statement.
The Trump administration has left the diplomatic door open for a possible Palestinian presence in Jerusalem, however.
“By recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and the seat of its government, we’re recognizing reality,” US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said during a visit to Israel last week.
“I also stress, as President Trump has said in December, the boundaries of Israeli sovereignty in Jerusalem remain subject to negotiations between the parties, and we remain committed to achieving a lasting and comprehensive peace that offers a brighter future for both Israel and the Palestinians.”…

Doing what was right and necessary, the capital of Israel is Jerusalem. Removing the endless threat for violence from that by moving it there is a real stepping stone towards understanding the issues as they are.
That doesn’t mean the muslims won’t rage, harm, kill and threaten and screech. They likely will at some level, but it will be seen for what it is ( except at propaganda centers- american, european colleges) and of course msm which will howl about the victims who need to be heard throwing smoke bombs out of gaza, or drivng cars into citizens of Israel, etc etc etc.
In the end, it takes one more weapon out of the hand of the muslims, arabs who say that this is unacceptable. Everything to muslims is unacceptable and a source of violence. If you apeak about their violence and theologic basis for violence and murder- that causes them to be violent and murder.
So… removing any of those is a good thing.

Everything to them is rage, violence, anger etc etc. They are of the firm belief that they are always 100% right.

You are right, Mari. Perhaps Israel’s critics (mostly poorly or totally uniformed) will at last get to fear what Israel and its friends may do in the world !

The Name. The name “Jerusalem” occurs 806 times in the Bible, 660 timesin the Old Testament and 146 times in the New Testament; additional references to the cityoccur as synonyms.
Jerusalem was established as a Canaanite city by the Chalcolithic period (ca. 4000-3100b.c.), occupying the southeast hill that currently bears the name “City ofDavid.” Steep slopes on each side of the hill provided a defensible site, and aspring at the foot of the hill provided necessary water. The earliest probable occurrenceof the name appears in the Execration Texts of Egypt (nineteenth to eighteenth centuriesb.c.) as Rusalimum. The Amarna Letters from Late Bronze Age Egypt (fourteenthcentury b.c.), written in the Akkadian language, include the name Urusalim. InAssyrian and Babylonian texts relating to the kingdom of Judah, Ursalimmu or asimilar form appears.
I got that from the internet.

PSYCHODRAMA ! Who needs it?
The Pallies only started this PSYCHODRAMA under the infamous Nazi Mufti Mohammed Amin al-Husseini. Jerusalem only took on interest to Muslims when he promoted the genocidal 1920s MYTH that “Jews are destroying Al Aqsa”, thus taking Jerusalem out of the shadows of irrelevance where it had been for centuries. The Mufti was a friend of Hitler, Himmler and Adolf Eichmann. Husseini encouraged the genocidal extermination of Jews and used the Dome of the Rock as an issue to motivate Arabs to hate Jews.

@mortimer, I love your comments. So right.

In November 2008, during refurbishment of a Berlin flat, blueprints were found of Auschwitz gas chambers and corpse-cellars. They are dated October 23 1941, months before the Wannsee Conference of January 1942.
The suggestion was made that the flat was the one provided by Hitler to Amin Al-Husseini.

Christians should realize why Jerusalem is the most reasonable capital for Israel.
How many times is Jerusalem mentioned in the Koran?
A:Jerusalem is not mentioned one single time in the Koran. The Koran has no concern whatsoever about Jerusalem. The focus of the Koran is the ‘Forbidden Mosque’ and its location is never named. The Umayyads tried (unsuccessfully) to change the religious center from Mecca/Medina to Jerusalem. No Arab thought Jerusalem was importance to the Arabian cults.
How many times is Israel mentioned in the complete Bible?
A: Israel is mentioned by name 52 times in the complete Bible.
How many times is ‘Israel’ mentioned in the Koran?
A: The name ‘Israel’ is mentioned 46 times in the Koran.’The Children of Israel’ are mentioned 20 times in the Quran. In other words, in every instance in the Quran in which the word “Israel” occurs, it means only the ‘Land of the Jews’, proving that the Koran indeed deems Israel the divinely appointed territory of the Jewish people, their rightful inheritance and sacrosanct property as decreed by Allah. The name ‘Palestine’ occurs ZERO times in the Koran. That is food for thought for those fighting to create a brand new country called Palestine, since the ‘eternal, perfect, complete’ book of Allah does not do that and mentions ‘Israel’only. Not only that, but Allah specifically bestows the land to Moses and his people and then specifically commands the ‘Banu Israil’ to ‘dwell in the Land’. (Koran 5:20–25) And remember, Allah makes NO mistakes or omissions and his words are valid for all time.
How many times is Palestine mentioned in the Koran?
A: Palestine is not mentioned one single time in the Koran. The author of the Koran seems only refers to ‘Israel’.
Did the qibla (direction of prayer) ever face towards Jerusalem?
A: No, never. All the early mosques face only towards PETRA in southern Jordan and never towards Jerusalem. The idea that Mohammed prayed towards Jerusalem is not confirmed by any external or archaeological evidence. It is clear that Arabs prayed towards their pagan holy city of Petra where there were kept their holiest idols of Dhu Shara (the war god) and of Allat (the Arabian mother goddess). Mohammed’s tribe worshipped ‘ALLAT’ (Kora=Greek for ‘maiden’). The Koraysh tribe was named for the MAIDEN-GODDESS it worshipped at Petra, NOT at JERUSALEM.
JERUSALEM and ZION? Not JEWISH? They appear 850 times in the Bible as such. The Bible is in fact a very Zionist book and our Lord revealed himself in it as a patriotic Israelite.

Yes–the destruction of Israel is in the constitutions of both Fatah and Hamas.
Voytek Gagalka says
Good move and deserving 100% support. What’s worry me, however, is that even this current realistic administration seems still not having clue what they just did it and why, with that opening door, slightly, to “Palestinian” presence in Jerusalem, “stressing [desire] for a lasting and comprehensive peace” and negotiations. That track has FAILED: history of the past 70 (if not 1400) years clearly proves that to all WILLING to take a notice. Unless “Palestinian” drop their SLAVISH dependence on Islam and sharia demands (highly unlikely in the extreme), there cannot be any “comprehensive peace” between them and Israel. Those who fail to notice that truth are deluding themselves (and others), opening door for future mischief and lies on the part of those said “Palestinians.”
gravenimage says
Yes–even Trump does not fully understand the Islamic roots of Islamic violence. But even treating some of the symptoms is a great step forward.
somehistory says
Since Jerusalem belongs to Israel, and they want the move and recognition, it is not “illegal.”
moslims just consider anything they don’t like “illegal” and “phobia,’ while threatening that there will not be a “just and lasting peace,’ which they don’t want anyway.
Justice they don’t know, and peace to them means they are in complete control of everyone and every thing. There is no “security” where they live and esp when they are in large numbers.
Walter Sieruk says
Many of the Muslim /Arabs who call themselves “Palestinians” are very mad that President Trump has recognized Jerusalem as the capital city of the State of Israel. Many of those same “Palestinians” were very happy when they found out about the mass jihad murders in America on September 11, 2001. So who cares if they are mad or not about the US embassy move to Jerusalem ?
Mari For says
Before 1948, Jews and the 100,000 plus Muslims who lived in the area were ALL called Palestinians. Many of those Muslims were from Jordan. When the state of Israel was formed, thousands of Arabs from everywhere swarmed into the country because they knew the hardworking Jews would give them good jobs etc. Arafat was Egyptian. Most of the present day « Palestinians » are from the 22 countries namely from southern Syria and Jordan.

All those Muslims who are so engaged with anger because President Trump recognized Jerusalem as the Capital city of the Jewish State of Israel are nonsensical. For the facts are Jerusalem was the capital of ancient Israel and likewise Jerusalem is the capital city of modern Israel. Those Muslims who are so very angry over this US embassy move to Jerusalem are a reminder that Benjamin Franklin had printed in POOR RICHARD’S ALMANACK “There are many reasons to become angry but very few good ones.”
Walter Sieruk says
President Trump wisely said “It’s time to officially recognize [the reality of] Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.” Yes, indeed, it’s very much time to recognize Jerusalem as the capital city of the State of Israel. This bold and wise decision of President Trump to move the US embassy to Jerusalem has greatly offended many of the Muslim clerics . Be they, for example, the imams of Pakistan or the mullahs of Iran. Those Muslim clerics with their mind control and their unconscionable ways they manipulate the people from the mosques to be their stooges into a, violent uprising, because of the Presidents decision is despicable . Some people of the left will say that the decision of move the US embassy to Jerusalem is “provoking” and it will “incite violence.” This only shows the old saying to be true .Which is that “Evil is always looking for an excuse. “ The fact is President Trump made the right decision and if the Muslim clerics don’t happen to like it ,well then it’s “tough beans.” to them
As the Bible informs its readers “The Lord also shall roar out of Zion, and utter His voice from Jerusalem … the Lord will be the hope of His people ,and the strength of the children of Israel.” Joel 3:16.

I have to slightly disagree with Robert here. Declaring that the U.S. embassy to Israel be in Jerusalem is indeed a departure and a righteous move by the United States under President Trump.
Abandoning the Iran nuclear deal is more important in my estimation. Bibi gave him the information. Now Trump will act, honoring his only ally in the M.E.
Make no mistake. Israel can handle Iran, and Russia will provide subterfuge for Iran.
Trump will not allow the U.S. to be dragged into a boots on the ground tar-baby in Iran.
President Trump is more of an isolationist than my initial estimation of him.
