The World owes all the citizens of the US who fought in the name of democracy a huge debt.
People who desire to emigrate to America don’t do it for superficial reasons. They do it for a life that is better financially and personally. The stability and wealth that lures the masses of the World to the States is completely dependent on our constitution that enshrines individual rights.
The fact that “God” is not mentioned in that incredible document translates to a country where everybody can believe whatever and however they want (with the normal sensible exclusions). So most people who come to the US (or European democracies) end up better off, even if they hate our government from the beginning of their residency.

Stats showing how many hours the airline have flown without a problem are published, celebrities are roped in to say how they have always flown with airline X and will continue to do so, and so on. Blame is placed elsewhere.
Similarly, 9/11 was a disaster that needed cauterizing to stem the bad news – that Islam is a death cult out to get us all! So, the jihadists were isolated by being called terrorists. Those protecting the Islam ‘brand’ handed Bush the script about ‘peaceful Islam’ which gains instant traction because it’s being uttered on national TV by the President of the US, and so on.
However, if the airline with the dodgy planes keeps having to issue excuses and dubious stats because another one of their rust buckets flips out of in the sky on a regular bases, the brand begins to get really tarnished. Six short days later…and “covered women” were too “afraid to go shopping.” So how did all of these “reports” get to him only 6 days after the attack? Wasn’t he very busy with planning what he was going to do to show the terrorists and their ilk that he would “bring them to justice”….that he would “smoke them out of their caves”…that he would find out “who was on his side and who was against him;?
How about the “fear” regular citizens felt, going to work, or “shopping” or the rescue people going into the rubble? The “religion of peace” hand’t prevented the 19 and the numerous planners from murdering thousands in one morning, so who was to prevent it from happening again to another office building or military installation?
And isn’t that the “wad” standing right behind bush? Perhaps he had a “gun” or large knife to the back. Whatever the case, it was a speech of big fat lies.

I just realized that Dubya probably believed islam was a religion of peace. It explains why he would feel that he could attack the “violent” element and have the support of the vast majority of peaceful muslims. His naivete caused the destabilizing of the entire Middle East and the eventual muslim invasion of Europe (Obama gave him a lot of help of course). Folly of epic proportions.

Robert Spencer Video: Why It Was So Disastrous When Bush Said “Islam Is Peace” After 9/11
………………..
Sadly true. I think George Bush was at least solidly against Jihad–better than his successor–but like so many in the West, he understood nothing about Islam itself. One does wonder if things might have been different if he had taken a strong stand against Islam itself.
Although my guess is that it might not have made as great a difference as we might have hoped–he was already dismissed as a “cowboy” for trying to defend against Jihad at all, not matter how scattered his efforts were.
Mark Swansays
Yes graven image President Bush had his hands full at the time—
invading Afghanistan after saying anything negative about Islam
would have been quite different—He had some of the worst advice
in so many areas, that distraction squandered such National
resources that America still must hope to recover from it.
Trying to placate a movement, that spreads like wild fire across a
dry landscape, will only enable it to spread and sustain itself—
Islam is significantly better placed now, than when He said then,
that it was a religion of peace.
Most World leaders must surely regret ever hearing of Islam—
yet in their mind-sets, hoping to appease it, while going on with
their daily lives, trying not to address Islam and the real burden
it places on the World—will find Islam much more burdensome.
Something has to give—this Ideology can not—must not—be
allowed to consume so much of the quality and purpose of the
Civilized World—The civilized world has far to many other
problems that justly need attention too.

Islam is indeed a death cult, which makes it a convenient and believable scapegoat for what occurred on 9/11/2001. In seventeen years much has been learned about what did and did not happen on that fateful day. The truths about who was involved and why it was done will eventually be revealed to the world. Having spent thousands of hours looking deeply into the event, I am convinced that radical Islam had little if any involvement. My purely objective analysis (always subject to refinements, of course, as more information is unearthed) is that 9/11 was a false flag event which was planned, executed, and covered up by American neo-con imperialists, with the able assistance of deep state operatives and elements of foreign intelligence services, chiefly the Israeli Mossad. President Bush was a non-participant until the cover-up phase of the operation was implemented. Vice-President Dick Cheney, on the other hand, was intimately involved from the outset and will go down in history as one of America’s worst traitors and mass murderers. Prove me wrong…
rubiconcrestsays
I am sorry to say but Bush to this day has not retracted those statements just after 9/11. Knowing what he must know now … there is no way to explain this except that he is a fool now and was one then as well.
Michael Copelandsays
A particularly curious aspect of the Bush “Islam is peace” broadcast is the way in which the whole world suddenly, within a nanosecond as it were, forgot that Bush is not a source of general knowledge. As if under hypnosis, everyone suspended normal critical faculties and drank in this learned guru of Islam. The reality is quite different: Bush was well known NOT to be a source of knowledge.
“… President George W. Bush made a disastrous mistake when he proclaimed that Islam was a religion of peace several days after the 9/11 jihad attacks…”
If Bush had been particularly concerned about the possibility of vigilante attacks against American Muslims then all he needed to do was to reaffirm the need for citizens to act lawfully during a time of great anguish and anger. His pronouncement exonerating Islam from responsibility for the attacks became something of a poisoned meme replicating itself around the world and through political leaderships for the following seventeen years.
Mike hughessays
I remember this speech and another he made thinking something not right as his words were to tell every one who was Listening to obey his commands ? only later after reading and studying Islam did I realise his either a fool or a lier as he words put back islam war with non belivers by over 10 to 15 years but now we the public are now awake and are joining forces with other nations to turn around our governments acceptance of Islam as a peaceful religion it has to happen very soon or if this carries on for another 20 years serious civil unrest to outright civil war between the Kafir and believers will happen.
As a born-again something or other, and reformed alcoholic (supposedly) but still gnorant of all things Islamic, what else could one expect. He along with Tony NBlair and John Howard should be put on trial in The Hague for war crimes over starting the Iraq war without authority from the UN. This was one time the UN had a chance to be effective but they crueled that for sure.
Creole Gumbosays
If Bush were a decent man he would have educated himself about Islam before opening his mouth and proclaiming it as peace. I just about puked when I heard him say that in 2001 and it makes me angry every time I see a rerun of this speech.
GWB is not a decent man. His failure to learn about islam constitutes negligence of his duty as POTUS. And apart from that let us not forget that he facilitated the removal of the Saudi family from the US. He is truly a traitor to his own country.

Bush’s words are straight out of Saudi’s mouths. The Bushes have been close to them aka oil friends, and as Bat Ye’or points out, it’s the Eurabia plan/indoctrination. The Saudis probably figured UN-studied Bush wouldn’t know what the “peace” part really means, i.e., when the world is subjected or submits to Islam.
Notice the director of CAIR, Niwad “Jihad” Awad is standing behind Bush. Goes to show the Republicans are as bad at cowing to Saudis and Islam as the Democrats. CAIR goes back to Bill Clinton in the early 90s. Our politicians sell out America and we need to let them know that, especially our state senators and congress reps.

For instance, ISIS head honcho Abu al Baghdadi has a BA, MA, and PhD in Islamic studies from the Islamic University of Baghdad. How do you suppose he got it so wrong? Curious.
somehistory says

He REALLY believed that Iraq and Afghanistan would view him as a liberator.

Mark Swan says

Well said Mark.

Who told GWB that Islam means peace?
Take a look at the shifty-eyed guy standing behind him.
Why, it’s CAIR’s very own Nihad Awad.

They all trace back In a dead straight track
To the duping of Bush by CAIR.

Terry Gain says
I believe that Bush was mis-educated about Islam by the State Department mainly, as well as CAIR.
Roderick MacUalraig says
He has no excuse. Previous presidents knew better.
Previous presidents, as in the first few.
Phil Welsh says
Prove me wrong…
rubiconcrest says
I am sorry to say but Bush to this day has not retracted those statements just after 9/11. Knowing what he must know now … there is no way to explain this except that he is a fool now and was one then as well.
Michael Copeland says
A particularly curious aspect of the Bush “Islam is peace” broadcast is the way in which the whole world suddenly, within a nanosecond as it were, forgot that Bush is not a source of general knowledge. As if under hypnosis, everyone suspended normal critical faculties and drank in this learned guru of Islam. The reality is quite different: Bush was well known NOT to be a source of knowledge.

Matthieu Baudin says
“… President George W. Bush made a disastrous mistake when he proclaimed that Islam was a religion of peace several days after the 9/11 jihad attacks…”
If Bush had been particularly concerned about the possibility of vigilante attacks against American Muslims then all he needed to do was to reaffirm the need for citizens to act lawfully during a time of great anguish and anger. His pronouncement exonerating Islam from responsibility for the attacks became something of a poisoned meme replicating itself around the world and through political leaderships for the following seventeen years.
Mike hughes says
I remember this speech and another he made thinking something not right as his words were to tell every one who was Listening to obey his commands ? only later after reading and studying Islam did I realise his either a fool or a lier as he words put back islam war with non belivers by over 10 to 15 years but now we the public are now awake and are joining forces with other nations to turn around our governments acceptance of Islam as a peaceful religion it has to happen very soon or if this carries on for another 20 years serious civil unrest to outright civil war between the Kafir and believers will happen.
Kasey says
As a born-again something or other, and reformed alcoholic (supposedly) but still gnorant of all things Islamic, what else could one expect. He along with Tony NBlair and John Howard should be put on trial in The Hague for war crimes over starting the Iraq war without authority from the UN. This was one time the UN had a chance to be effective but they crueled that for sure.
Creole Gumbo says
If Bush were a decent man he would have educated himself about Islam before opening his mouth and proclaiming it as peace. I just about puked when I heard him say that in 2001 and it makes me angry every time I see a rerun of this speech.
GWB is not a decent man. His failure to learn about islam constitutes negligence of his duty as POTUS. And apart from that let us not forget that he facilitated the removal of the Saudi family from the US. He is truly a traitor to his own country.
Chantal says
So much agree with you Creole Gumbo! The ultimate ignorance was represented by GWB and his devastating words that will plague the world for many years to come.
gravenimage says
One can be morally decent and woefully ignorant at the same time.
Roderick MacUalraig says
Agreed. Well said.
KJW says
OhThatBob says
The GlobalWarOnTerror is a continuing money making racket. Former Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan said the Iraq war was all about controlling Iraq’s oil.
George W Bush met with Iraqi dignitaries in the White House and when the Iraqis met with the press they exclaimed how surprised they were that President Bush didn’t know the difference between Sunni and Shia.
gravenimage says
What a load of tripe. The US never made any money from Iraq’s oil.
Roderick MacUalraig says
That may be true. But there were lucrative contracts to be had for companies that were servicing the unnecessary expedition into Iraq.
I know, I was there.
David M says
George W, Blair & Howard should all be before an in international court for the illegal invasion of Iraq. George W is nothing more than a war criminal.
Ren says
Ignorance on islam contributes to the advance of islam.
Screeminmeeme says
When I stood and listened to Bush’s speech days after 911, I screamed at the TV as he spewed on lie after another. He gave a pass to Islam and rebuked Americans for attacking Muslims. This was an insult and a condescension to the American people.
I’ve despised him since that day.
