In this video taken in December 2017, University of Connecticut Professor Felix Coe tells a student to “get the hell out” for wearing shoes in his office, which he says is “a curse in Islam.” A sign orders students to say “Bismillah” before entering his office.
UConn is a public university.
(Thanks to Vlad Tepes.)
Richard says
Wow! What a double standard being funded by U.S. tax dollars. Maybe the left will wake up one day before it’s too late!
mortimer says
Double standard indeed. WILL THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS ABOMINABLE ARROGANCE? He should get the sack immediately. His office is NOT a sanctuary.
Kessler says
So students are required to praise Allah in his office. What would happen if a Christian put a “say: Praise Jesus” sign? Fired for racism and career ruined. Staggering hypocrisy and well done for exposing it.
Carole says
Right!
mortimer says
Is Felix Coe a GOD and is his office a SANCTUARY?
Mari For says
Excuse my vulgarity, he is an A hole and his office a sh**hole. Serious now, he is trying to literally trying to impose by force. If a Christian teacher told his students to make the sign of the Cross and say God bless, you’d hear the racket from coast to coast. Love your comments Mortimer.
Bill Miller says
Why is this allowed in an American Univ?
This guy should be fired now!
Robert Laity says
They ARE awake. This is their agenda. To dismantle our freedoms.
Zyfolon Desept says
Correct! That’s their ultimate goal, one grain of sand at the time. Well done for posting it.
J D S says
Too many U.S. Universities have, for reasons of being called racist, islamophobic, hatres of Islam, insensitive etc, have hired Muslim professors, administrators, and workers..A lot are leftist liberal colleges who actually want these professors on staff, Muslim or otherwise, have ruined many good students by forcing their attitude upon the students and Muslim professors are pushing Islam upon them also which should be a violation…
If I had a child going to this, or any other like college, I would be very angry with those in charge.
Carole says
Also, there has been major funding from Saudi Arabia to sell the message of fundamentalist Islam. The Universities are bowing down to these investors.
The leftist agenda is well meaning for the most part but also is naive and ignorant to the fascist element that political Islamic evangelism really spreads. Since the Left in general doesn’t seem to know anything about Islam, nor do they care to find out, they are following some imagined exotic notion of what they feel that Islam hopefully means. So, in that way, the Left supporting Islam is very dangerous, as they help to keep real inquiry away and support the tyranical supremist Islamic imams and so-called scholars in power. The Left represents liberalism, but instead now are representing self-sabotage.
Liberty Tom says
Universities already receive Millions from Saudis. President Bush received funding from Muslims for his Library. Sharia Business courses exist on campuses.
mgoldberg says
Pepto bismol to him too
Carole says
Hahahahahaha!
Jay says
How is this even allowed in a public university getting federal funds?? Outrageous!
How long has this been accepted by the university?? Such a dangerous double standard !
And how long will it be allowed? Yet other American religions are constantly attacked and then special attention is given to this Muslim professor. Makes no sense. It’s a dangerous precedent.
MAGA. Go Trump ,2020. ??????????
mgoldberg says
So he’s allowed to demand people say, ‘In the name of Allah’
Now… if any professor demanded students enter their offices and say, ‘In the name of Jesus’
They indeed would be fired.
Now….if any Jewish professor demanded students students enter their offices and say, oh’, Baruch Hashem’ he would be fired.
utis says
So right! This bastard needs to be kicked out. Let him teach at a muslim institution.
mgoldberg says
Indeed, he should be fired.
Stacy Girl says
Fired on the spot and led away by a security guard wearing big muddy boots accompanied by a large dog.
Lydia Church says
I will enter and say “Jesus is Lord!”
And I don’t take off my shoes to honor a false religion!
Let him pull out that knife that they bring to the battle of the wits when they have no wits to battle with!
Flavius Claudius Iulianus says
In fact, if we were to check, we would probably find that this university receives a huge amount of middle eastern oil money. If you get that source of funding removed thru legislation then these people would start to disappear.
No Fear says
I would require him to say three Hail Marys before he speaks to me.
utis says
Any students try to wear a cross or a rosary around their neck when they visit his office?
Rarely says
I guess bringing a ham sandwich and a beer to his office during Ramadumb would be out.
Do you have to bring your own sheep or does he supply them?
Westman says
Bismillah ar-rahman ar-rahim: “In (or with) the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.”
So, if you want help from this professor you must give worship to Allah? The university administration must have very wealthy donors because this is a lawsuit begging to happen. Unless this is a private religious college, that behavior is illegal.
If he was actually fired, he could get a new job at CAIR. This is exactly their kind of American-Islamic Relations.
Come to think of it, maybe this professor could teach Robert DeNiro some additional blue vocabulary. If a student walking in can cause him to say, “GET THE HELL OUT!”, he must have a prodigious supply in reserve.
Normally, the idea of a re-education camp for professors is repugnant. In this case, however………
Getachew Dires says
Hello Westman. I am the person who confronted this professor. It is my daughter he insulted. I really need to take this issue high up if you or anybody who knows any non-muslim lawyer with conviction who could help me fight it. Thanks
Carole says
Good luck and in good time to confront this. I just wrote to nadine.brennan@uconn.edu who is an associate direcor to Mark Overmyer-Velazquez, the Director of UCONN, to put in my small voice. I don’t know any lawyers, live abroad and heard about this. I went to UCONN years ago, and this is upsetting. I can write to more people if necessary, just to keep the ball rolling.
Mirren10 says
Thanks for the link, I have sent an email.
What a disgusting and arrogant pos !
gravenimage says
Thank you, Carole.
somehistory says
This is a violation of Law.
Show him the soles of the student’s shoes as he is booted out the door. “Get out and don’t come back.”
Most likely he doesn’t have knowledge of anything important or worthwhile. islam is without virtue, being the wild beast from satan the devil. So no students should enroll in his courses.
Westman says
Actually, Coe is an accomplished biologist, old school, lectures with no A/V, hardly uses the textbook, and sometimes wanders off into philosophy. He has no beard in the faculty photo, so the conversion must have been somewhat recent.
How someone with that much education can swallow Islam may point to some developing mental disorder.
somehistory says
Interesting. One could never guess it from the present video.
Was he calling hooper or awad at cair when he turned his back and picked up the phone? Was he asking for assistance to refute what the young man said who confronted him?
Mental illness and islam seem to be more than casual acquaintances. Falling for the nonsense when one has been “educated” just doesn’t make any sense at all.
Keys says
Calling security to make up some lie about how the visitors are harassing him ?
Keys says
Maybe Prof. Coe is not a muslim at all, but just testing how far students will “submit” if required to by a muslim.
He has pictures/paintings in his office and small “statues” on his window sill. Thought muslims could not have likenesses such as these.
Or maybe he wanted them to “go downstairs” to behead them ?
PS: He is an expert on peppers. Is that hallal ? /sarc
somehistory says
Itt’s funny but not humorous, but when he wanted the young man to go “down” with him, I too thought of him wanting to accost or have others attack him. Not likely, but not impossible.
Suspicious, whatever he intended.
Zyfolon Desept says
Regarding education and mental illness, we laready had an example with Nazis. They were very well educated and same as the Muslim, believed it was their duty to rule the world. Do you see any difference here?
utis says
From your description of his accomplishments, in all seriousness, he might have an age-related mental problem. The business with the shoes made me think of cleanliness fetishists, and I don’t know how universal shoe hatred is in Islam. His department really should question him, for his own good as well as for the students.
Ashley says
I concur, Westman. I looked into Coe…he has an impressive background in teaching biology at UCONN.
I came across a document that I cannot access as I don’t have Microsoft Office. Can anyone get into this?
“In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful
asg.hartford.uconn.edu/wp-content/uploads/sites/…/MSA-WeHa-Constitution.docx
The Muslim Students’ Association shall be a non-profit, non-political organization, and … Felix Coe is the appointed advisor for the MSA with an indefinite term.”
If this isn’t some kind of prank…I’m speechless.
Like Keys, I thought perhaps this was some sort of “joke” orchestrated by Coe to “test” students’ reaction to his bizarre behavior.

Felix Coe is one of the 2 without a home page of the 33 faculty listed on the UConn Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Dept page. https://eeb.uconn.edu/faculty/
The professor should be able to go pray at the prayer-hall of the Islamic Center at UConn (ICUC). Address not far from dept on the campus map. His office room is a state university office.
Carole says
Good sleuth work. As an aside, I have never heard that wearing shoes indoors is a curse on Islam. In what hadith, does anyone know? Unless he is considering that his office space is a mini mosque and that he is a campus imam!
Taking off shoes when entering a room is more southeast aisian cultural, not islamic particularly.
Ashley says
Thanks, Yohanan.
And as for Coe’s group discussion partner at the mosque, Chaplain Aida Mansoor…

Good for the guy confronting him and telling he “cannot do this.”
The moslims’ arrogance is exceedingly …disgusting..
The fact that he is “moslim” is what is important to him…the way he says it excuses all of his wrong actions in his mind. And….he had shoes on….looked like a woman’s shoes.
Wellington says
Again proving that no amount of education is a guarantee that one can’t still function in full stupid, control-freak and foolish mode.
Frankly, EVERY well educated Muslim who still thinks that a seventh-century turd and fraud of a leader was the “last and greatest of the prophets,” and that the Koran in classical Arabic is the ultimate word of a cosmic deity, only reveals that, no matter what amount of education you have, if you do not also have common sense and moral intelligence and have kept the built-in crap detector you were born with from getting rusty, then you are capable of believing any rot. Examples here are Trotsky (this one is for you, Felix Quigley), Goebbels and this nothing professor at UConn.
Many more examples, of course, could be given of how education, no matter how much, is worthless without common sense, moral intelligence and keeping that built-in crap detector very well oiled on a regular basis. In fact, so much of what plagues mankind can be attributed to a dearth of common sense, moral intelligence and that metaphorical built-in crap detector I have already mentioned being kept up to speed. That so many well educated people, never mind those with less education, have endorsed such intellectual and moral monstrosities as Marxism, Nazism and Islam only overwhelmingly proves my point here. Easily so.

Emilie Green says
The applicable law, from Lemon v. Kurtzman, 403 U.S. 602, 612-613 (1971).
In the absence of precisely stated constitutional prohibitions, we must draw lines with reference to the three main evils against which the Establishment Clause was intended to afford protection: “sponsorship, financial support, and active involvement of the sovereign [UConn and its employee] in religious activity.” Walz v. Tax Commission, 397 U.S. 664, 668 (1970).
Every analysis in this area must begin with consideration of the cumulative criteria developed by the Court over many years. Three such tests may be gleaned from our cases. First, the statute must have a secular legislative purpose; second, its principal or primary effect must be one that neither advances nor inhibits religion, Board of Education v. Allen, 392 U.S. 236, 243 (1968); [p613] finally, the statute must not foster “an excessive government entanglement with religion.” Walz, supra, at 674.

UConn & Professor Coe get a hat trick – all three.

Emilie Green, You seem to be well versed in the law. I am the person who is involved in the confrontation and it was my daughter insulted by Mr. Coe. Getachew Dires –
So glad you confronted this muslim. If Westman does not see your request, there are a few attorneys on this site, and I am hoping they have some suggestions. I am not a lawyer, but …
Go to this site: American Center for Law and Justice (aclj.org)
They are Islam savvy, and may be able to help you at no cost.
The site has a “Get Legal Help” section.
Another, though maybe less likely possibility, is Judicial Watch judicialwatch.org
“Judicial Watch, Inc., a conservative, non-partisan educational foundation, promotes transparency, accountability and integrity in government, politics and the law. … Judicial Watch fulfills its educational mission through litigation, investigations, and public outreach.“
They may be able to help you on how to deal with U Conn administrators.
tel:1-888-593-8442
Attorneys from these organizations get public notice. Jay Sekulow (aclj) and Tom Fitton (jw) have appeared several times on Fox for various issues.
Another is the Thomas Moore Society thomasmooresociety.org
“Thomas More Society is a not-for-profit, national public interest law firm
dedicated to restoring respect in law for life, family, and religious liberty.”
They have a “Legal Help” section.
What happened to your daughter is definately a high public interest situation. I believe millions of Americans are aware of Islam’s dangers and do not want to tolerate its agressive intolerance.
Keys says
Meant to say Emilie Greene, not Westman.
Getch says
Keys, thank you for taking the time and giving me all those info. ACLJ was the first I contacted but to my dismay they failed to help. I was actually disappointed at them for I was a supporter before this incident happened to me. Probably they are too big to consider my issue. But I will try the others you gave me. Thanks a lot!

go do something about it. confront him with this video, confront the university with this. go talk to a laywer…etc.
BrianH says
Islam is the religion of choice for those with a beligerent personality. There is no commandment to love your neighbor. There is no concept of grace. Legalism rules the day. The most legalistic adherents are the ones who will be rewarded. It attracts those who want to be masters of their own spiritual fate, even if it means killing themselves and others. There are no redeeming social qualities inherent.
Shmoovie says
Spot-on descriptor for this arrogant jerk: “beligerent”.
His rudeness in telling the first student to “get the h… out” was a shock; must’ve felt like a slap cross the face to her.
How many others have put up with this treatment out of fear of being called intolerant?
somehistory says
When I was in high school, there was a history teacher who spoke endlessly of his time in the military. He told stories of things he did and things he heard and saw.
Then he would give tests on what was in the text book. He didn’t expect anyone to pass and would grind his teeth at those of us who actually read the book and passed the tests.
gravenimage says
There have *always* been bad teachers, somehistory–but the one in the story above is imposing Islam–particularly destructive, and not something the university should allow.
somehistory says
I am aware of what the “professor” in the video was attempting to do, to force students to bow to his fake god. (Did you not read my other comments?)
However, if ordinary “bad teachers” do what Jay Boo wrote, and I experienced that, in a moslim such as the one in the video, “bad” is so much worse.
I can only imagine how he treats his students when they make good grades despite his “teaching.” Guess I should have written all of this out so you and others could understand my “reason” for mentioning it.
gravenimage says
Agreed, somehistory. I was not giving you a hard time.

Carole says
Can you tell me if this happened at the main campus at Storrs, Ct.? I was there several times recently, and saw many students in hijab, so I was thinking that a large fundamentalist Islamic community is being fostered here.
Aside from all of that, this professor appears to be one of those self-entitled grouchy imam type of people. I think that the University should reconsider their choice for a professor to represent Islamic studies. I am glad that students are complaining, and hope that the University will heed their apprehensions.
Keys says
From what I see on-line he is at the Hartford campus.
“Grouchy imam type” – I hear that happens during Ramadan.

Dirty shoes are a curse in Islam (but not orange crocks – Allah likes those) ?
Like man’s best friend, dogs ?
Islam is the curse, not dirty shoes, Professor Coe !
Ashley says
Yes, Keys. Not Storrs but Hartford.
And this doesn’t appear to be some sort of twisted joke:
NEW MUSLIM GROUP DISCUSSION – Understanding Islam with Professor Felix Coe and Chaplain Aida Mansoor. Food will be provided. First Wednesday of the month from 6pm to 7:30pm
http://www.berlinmosque.org/2018/03/march-2018-at-berlin-masjid/
Carole says
So, is Prof. Felix Coe a recent convert? (not a very Islamic name) That could be his problem……..as well as falling for the Islamic self-proclaimed authority of worthiness to receive God., and the hell to everyone else…yuck
gravenimage says
He must be–but he is taking his new faith very seriously.
He also teaches at the Islamic Center of Greater Hartford–also known as the Berlin Mosque or Masjid.
They are really pushing the Muslim invasion of the US.
Wellington says
Felix Coe: Good Muslim; total asshole. The two together are a natural.
Islam is a giant parasite. It is massively ungracious and it will destroy freedom whenever and wherever given the chance. So, mock it, mock it regularly, criticize it, criticize it regularly, beginning with its warped founder, and do all you can never to submit to this putrid religion of submission even in the smallest of ways (e.g., eat and eat loudly, preferably pork products, during the daylight hours of Ramadan (Ramabutt) wherever Muslims are around, for example on the Oregon State campus or at UConn).
May Allah strike me dead tonight if I am wrong about any of this. See you soon. Tomorrow like.
LeftisruiningCanada says
Indeed.
I’d say ‘cheers’, but sadly have nothing drinkable to hand.
Terry Gain says
See you tomorrow Wellington. I challenged Allah a couple of weeks ago to end my life to prove his existence. I’m still here because Allah doesn’t exist. All that killing for an entity that doesn’t exit. Sad.
JawsV says
Amazing how Muhammad’s 7th century con is still twisting lives in the 21st century.
Carole says
Felix Coe seems like he was a highly regarded professor-before. Now he is a fundamentalist sell-out. A recent convert imposing his new found and fundamentally violent religion upon students in his workplace, altering his manner of dress and becoming angry when not complied with?
I’d be watching his ass very closely for some kuffar killing campus jihad.
Ashley says
Don’t think that hasn’t crossed my mind, Left.
Coe is unstable. He orders a student he is not familiar with to remove her shoes. His office faculty door is open and she stepped in looking for another professor. He tells her to get the hell out. He tells her he’s Muslim. He posts strange directives on his office door.
When this student’s father confronts Coe, Coe doesn’t explain himself. He offers no apology. He reaches for his phone then steps out of his office ordering the father to follow him.
I see red flags EVERYWHERE. I’m confident Felix Coe is a relatively new convert. Given past history, that doesn’t bode well…
I wouldn’t want to be a student on that campus. I wouldn’t want to be a parent of a student on that campus.
gravenimage says
Yes–deeply disturbing and completely inappropriate.

I don’t know, Graven. If the video is legit (and I strongly believe it is) Coe verbally abused at least two students.

UCONN Hartford has a serious problem afoot that best be addressed ASAP.

Gjallarhornet says
I demand students to say ‘mohammed was an impostor’ before they enter my office. My religion also dictates that any student failing to do so must smear him or herself in a sacred mixture of reindeer blood and cow dung. The university always should compel them to do so, in fear of hurting my feelings, offending my minority group and not wanting to invade my safe space.
Carole says
That’s rich! Hahahaha!
pemba says
fire the professor ASAP
Ashley says
A couple of things I noted. The female student entered Coe’s office wanting to meet with Professor “Morales.” I wonder if Coe shares an office with another professor? If so, I wonder how Coe’s colleague felt about the bizarre signs on the doors and sharing an office with Coe.
The video was taped on December 1, 2017…over six months ago. Yet it appears to have been uploaded to the internet only recently.
Curious…
Gjallarhornet says
Also, the office is draped with flags of the far left Nicaraguan boss party, FSLN, the Sandinists. This is visible at 2:45 in the video. If this belongs to Cox or some other professor he is sharing an office with, we can not know, but that is not the point. The whole point is this air of far leftism that prevails all over the universities. Wonder what it is like to a conservative student at Mr Cox’ university?
Gjallarhornet says
Islam aside, the tone of Coe is pretty standard for a professor speaking to a student at universities. Hundred ways of saying ‘go to hell’ (at least indirectly) to students who show up for help, for no reason whatsoever. Why teachers do it and why students put up with it, I do not know. Probably because it’s a bad idea to reply with an eloquent ‘fuck you too’. Academics are not only unpleasant, they are vindictive as well.
Yohanan says

Sometimes I wonder if I can become a muslim, and find some of those “oil funds” 🙂 ,
and then to use all the high handed ways, and to be very truthful in what I am commanded to do, and how I deserve respect. That Human Right Commissions, Associations, etc. support my koranic free speech.
To act as a supremacist, quoting koran why ordinary people must respect and obey me.
I know it will be difficult to be a “self sacrificial” martyr, and attend mosque, ramadan, and do prayers etc..
The dawa I would practice would be my supremacist dominance, and how dhimmis should defer to me.
Talk how some one’s young daughter and “age of consent” should be considered available etc., and jizya is a right for me to collect.
How all will be ruled by the “perfection” of sharia, and as the hijrah essentially must progress so that a muslim can live in Dār al-Kufr only if he makes all efforts for the predominance of Islam in that land (Iqāmat al-Dīn), to make it into Dār al-Islām.
Will the ordinary person that crosses my path then read the koran chronologically, taking in the abrogation verses, and the support of good hadith, like , Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī ( صحيح البخاري ),one of the Kutub al-Sittah (six major hadith collections), summed up in the “Reliance of the Traveler”
How else can one get through to many others the islamic ideology. and laws.
Whether that Professor has converted or not, surely those students should figure a lot more of islam, it demands and ideology, so that they then know how to deny it.
So far there has been the fight back has been slow, intermittent, covered by Human Rights etc.. political correctness, and islam is proving to be a hard nut to crack.
Truth be told it would be a real mission to make that change, and I fear that I would not be able to maintain that composure, well only to lefty students and such institutions. 🙂
A consideration is to being found out. and then considered an apostate, would be dangerous to one’s health. 🙁
Carole says
The people that most defend political fundamentalist Islam I have discovered – have not read the Quran and don’t even know what a hadith is.
They think that it is about Linda Sarsour and the right to wear a hijab.
They think that it is simply another cultural minority group and that it must be defended. They close their eyes and ears to its dangerous message.
Yes, the best antidote is to learn what Islam really is and be prepared to defend our freedoms from sharia and supremist doctrine and cult-think.
simpleton1 says
Just how can we get a vaccine into the rest of our communities, to raise our antibodies, and activate our immune system against islam to kill it off?
Other wise we will become a very sick body, as islam feeds off us.
That is how to fight islam, show how insufferable and impossible it is with its insidious control of its host.
Yet our education systems, human rights etc. has stripped out the “immune response” of “defend our freedoms from sharia and supremacist doctrine and cult-think”.
You are right, “knowledge is power” and I appreciate what Robert Spencer and many others have done in spreading this, in this close run race with islam.
Cicero says
Or he could be a genuine convert to Islam. In which case I would like to find out how the conversion process of this most competent and erudite professor came about eg who approached him, what attracted him, how was he groomed ? ( yes Islamic grooming is not just for sexual purposes) .

There are also what look like family photos–so at least some of the pictures in his room are his private ones, and not just there because some university bureaucrat says they must be. Now, we all know that an angel won’t enter a house with a picture in it (or a dog, but he seems not to have one of those), so I expect that goes for a university professor’s office as well. He needs some more tuition, I think.

Islam copies, and in doing so it distorts the original.
Islamic science is modified greek philosophy, Islamic architecture is of Christian Byzantine origin.
Islamic Law is simply a perverted version of the Roman Code.
Which was reversed in time to appeal to men of the dark ages.

I just sent on the letter that UCONN wrote back to me.
The Prof has left, the sign has been taken down, the situation was apparently been solved in December.
However, to me, it is good that we all became involved and commented about this, and that the University is aware that there are many, like us, who are concerned about this type of behavior and intrusion into secular public situations,

Strange that he claims to be a Muslim when he works in a college department that teaches evolutionary biology. If he were so religiously principled you’d have thought he’d find work somewhere else, more in tune with his religious beliefs if it’s so important to him.

This is what it means to be a “good” muslim, make everyone else subservient to him. It’s a way of demeaning and belittling everyone else for allah. It’s disgusting and angering but it should come as no surprise. This is what islam is all about, reducing non-muslims to subservient status, we’re to be converted, enslaved, or killed. The muslim god had little good to say about us non-muslims:
“Muhammad is God’s apostle. Those who follow him are ruthless to the unbelievers but merciful to one another.” Quran 48:29
“Believers, take neither the Jews nor the Christians for your friends. They are friends with one another…” Quran 5:51
“Garments of fire have been prepared for the unbelievers. Scalding water shall be poured upon their heads, melting their skins and that which is in their bellies. They shall be lashed with rods of iron…” Quran 22:19
“The unbelievers among the People of the Book [Bible] and the pagans shall burn for ever in the fire of Hell. They are the vilest of all creatures.” Quran 98:6
And here’s one of my favorites:
“I shall cast terror into the hearts of the infidels. Strike off their heads, strike off the very tips of their fingers.” Quran 8:12
And that’s just a tiny sample, there’s much more of the same from the “religion of peace.”
It’s no wonder this “professor” feels he has a right to humiliate others for his filthy demon, he’s only following his religion like a “good” muslim should. Maybe we need our own “divine revelation” that says “kill all muslims, and cut off their fingertips”? and why not, they got one, fair is fair, right? Then we too can act contemptuous and commit murder and get sympathy while doing it! Gods and religions are a dime a dozen, I don’t give a c*nt about their piggy god or their piece-of-sh*t prophet. This fake professor has an apish mentality for apish religion. He deserves to be laughed at for his ignorance and to get a pink slip for his ineptitude and petulance.

At ratemyprofessors.com there are no laodicean responses; students either love him or hate him. They describe him either as a “great professor” who “really knows his stuff”but how would they know this?)(how or as “the worst professor i’ve ever had, always goes off on a tangent about his life and views, don’ttake this course, etc.I know which side I believe. The remarks of those who were critical of him, for spending so much time not on the subject he is supposed to be teaching, biology, but on, rather, his own views about all sorts of things, no doubt including Islam, American foreign policy, islamophobia, the Sandinistas (he’s done field work in Nicaragua), but above all, about the most fascinating –to him– of all possible topics– his own being. Perhaps students can start to record his classroom digressions, transcribing them, and then posting the results on-line.Those results ought to be instructive.
As for the demand that any student wishing to enter his office to talk to him must first remove his shoes and say the bismillah, the first may be allowed — just –but this required recital of formulaic praise for Muhammad needs to be examined by the college’s administration, and their findings made known. Does he still have that ‘Say the Bismillah”command on his door? If so, why? And if the college administration fails to act, can someone in the state legislature bring the matter up for discussion?? We all know that a professor who required a student to say something along the lines of “May Jesus Christ be praised.” To which the answer is; “May He always be praised.” Is there a professor at the University of Connecticut, or at any other public institution, who would not be punished if he required such a thing?

Everyone at UCON should give a new meaning to the saying, “voting with one’s feet.” If all the students refused to attend any of the POS classes, which are probably not worth the effort, the university would send him packing.

This Professor is of course entitled to do this in his own house, and to refuse entry to anyone who fails to comply with his demand/request, but no way is it acceptable at the University. Initially I was puzzled as to why he was let get away with his reprehensible behaviour at the Uni, but my guess is that they were frightened to challenge him for fear of being called ‘racist’ or ‘islamophobic’.

President Susan Herbst’s office, which is copied here, forwarded me your message. Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us with your concerns.
The video in question dates to late 2017, when the incident was brought to our attention. UConn promptly resolved the issue in a manner that respects the rights of all involved, and affirms the University’s values of civility and inclusivity.
UConn strives to provide respectful intellectual spaces in which people from many backgrounds can learn with and from each other.
Regarding this instance, the sign that had directed guests to precede their conversations with a specific Arabic phrase was immediately removed at the University’s direction. Other rooms are also provided there and at all of our campuses in which faculty can meet with students and other guests when the gathering does not occur in their office.
That particular faculty member has retired in the time since this video was taken last year.
I hope this addresses your concerns, and thanks again for being in touch.

Thank you for sharing that, Charles.
I doubt Felix Coe “retired.” He probably raised Cain when his nifty little office door signs were removed and the administration told him to “get the hell out.”
Or he just gathered up his Nicaraguan flags and souvenirs and stormed off in a rage.
I just hope campus public safety officials keep him off campus.
He isn’t right in the head…

I recall some ears ago that the way the President pronounced saddam hussien’s name meant something about a ‘repairer of old shoes,’ and also the incident of the guy in the room with Pres Bush throwing a shoe at the president. Both of these were considered insults.
A very long time ago, there wan a big brouhaha about a politician crossing his legs in such a way as to show the soles of his shoes and his arab counterpart in the room was highly offended.

Thanks, Carole!
Edward posted the same reply from UConn above at 4:58.
Sounds like UConn penned a very pat, generic and politically correct form letter in response to those expressing concerns over this matter.
Note the response did not address how this student was treated by Professor Coe…only the issue concerning the questionable signs posted on his office door. This student had been berated and told to “get the hell out” in an ugly, condescending and intimidating tone by Coe.
Yes. I’m relieved he is gone. I just feel that UConn if far more interested in their public image…
Carole says
This is as far as I will go with this. Yes, it is a generic letter meant to appease everyone. Public image is super important to a public institution, and with my little email, it is one more warning to them that they are being watched from many parts of the world. Yes, you are right, the sign is gone, and the Prof is gone. So something important was done in December.
If I were personally involved in this situation, I would ask for all of those details. I leave that to the father of the girl and any others that were commenting and are still very offended and angry on this site. Please follow up on this to your own satisfaction, I gave you the links.
Most important is that even though we all seem to agree with each other here,t it is even more important to move outwards and contact the offending institutions out there to make these important ideas really mean something.

I have noticed on this site that there is some pretty good humour.
However, from time to time the line is crossed and this humour descends into the category of ranting and muslim bashing.
What is interesting about Jihad Watch is to observe the very fine line that Mr. Spencer is able to traverse. He is always a diplomatic , while carefully and analytically giving us the most recent news about how supremist political Islam is advancing and integrating into society, mostly without the knowledge of a quite innocent and ignorant population.
Perhaps we should take him as an example of how to present ourselves in our discourses about Islam and in being part of a just solution,- and not becoming supremist ourselves and acting on the llow evel of the invading oppressive group.
