“How did Cardinal McCarrick’s secret last so long?,” by Phil Lawler, Catholic Culture, June 20, 2018:
At least fifteen years ago, I wrote a confidential email message to a few trusted friends, telling them to brace themselves. Within a few days, I said, a major secular newspaper would break a sensational story about Cardinal Theodore McCarrick. To my surprise, the newspaper never ran the story—which finally came out today.
At the time, several reporters had spoken with me about the cardinal. Most had been unable to find anyone willing to go on record with complaints. Rod Dreher, one of the journalists who was investigating the rumors, now writes about the frustration he felt when witnesses refused to go public….
Now that the story has finally surfaced, Dreher wants to know: “Why were so many bishops willing to run cover for Ted McCarrick all these years?” That’s a good question. But I have another.
Why were so many journalists willing to let the rumors go unexplored? Or, if they did explore the rumors, why were they willing to drop the story, at a time when so many other allegations were splashed across the headlines? Could it be because, for anyone seeking to influence a cardinal, the threat of disclosure is more effective than disclosure itself?

Dragar, you are a fool. Firstly, priests molesting children is counter to the teachings of Jesus Christ but allowed in islam. Secondly, and MOST importantly, your secular humanist beliefs CANNOT account for morality and logic if “matter is all that exists”. You have to borrow from God when it suits you in order to denounce Him (thereby betraying your own belief system), which proves atheism to be a self refuting idiocy.
Sadly, you are completely unwilling to examine the compelling historical, prophetic, scientific and archaeological evidence that proves beyond doubt the Bible is a true account of humanity and Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation. Instead, you hold to the philosophical delusion of Darwinism, which is EXACTLY the reason the world is in such a mess. Secular humanists applying subjective morality (their own religious justification) has resulted in 200 million+ human deaths in less than a century. How utterly blind you are!
An atheist seeks God like a thief seeks a policeman.
They are darkened in their understanding and alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardness of their hearts. – Ephesians 4:18

Totally wrong, Elisha. The world was always in a mess and always will be. It is minds like Darwin that point out reasons for this mess. it did not cause of this mess. The cause is selfish genes that makes selfish animals, including homo sapiens sapiens that struggle and compete for genetic superiority. Animals are automatic machines/robots.

As for Jesus Christ, most humans on earth revere him. But we also know the horrors perpetrated in His name and in the name of the Bible, etc. for ages in the past. You are free to believe what you want but you are not free to present fiction as facts
Cardinal says
“can’t account for morality and logic if matter is all that exists”. That’s a bald assertion that smuggles all kinds of bogeymen under the door. It makes sense only if you assume out of the gates that primitive superstitions must undergird morality and logic.
But the answer is clear. Morality is custom, and logic is a perfectly physical phenomenon–your computer runs on it. We could do with less superstition, of all kinds. Belief without evidence is a bad methodology and it usually leads to falsehood.

You Speak the truth Elisha, so Speak on! and don’t let others , as seen in some post to your post, pull you off track. So hold to your thoughts and beliefs and pay no attention to the nay-sayers…That awful LAKE of FIRE awaits them if they don’t see the truth. Posted by me on Apr 11, 2018:
I think the source of the chronic, widespread, long-term corruption in the church is the implicit blackmail that catholic clerics hold over other catholic clerics. Let me explain: celibacy is not optional for the priesthood in the catholic church. (There are more and more non-celibates being let in, and this a good thing, but it is still rare.) And despite this universal acceptance that priests and nuns are to be celibate, it has been shown by Richard Sipe (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Sipe) that this is not the case. He has found that, “more than half [of catholic priests] were involved in sexual relationships.” When he says ‘sexual relationship’ he is not specifically referring to any one sexual orientation (heterosexual, homosexual, pedophilia, etc.). So about 50% of catholic priests, according to his research, are “not as advertized.” This makes these individuals susceptible to a blackmail of silence. It makes them think twice about speaking out about others in the priesthood since they know that they could be ‘uncovered’ in retaliation.
Sipe also states that priests are actually selected in the seminaries to be those individuals who don’t tend to speak up about wrongdoing.
So this is why pedophiles are able to hide within ranks of the catholic church. (He estimates that pedophiles account for about 6% of all catholic priests.) These pedophiles are probably protected by the fact that ~50% of the other priests also have a dirty secret. So corruption, in an environment of secrecy, flourishes.
Sipe says that the only way to rid the church of this conspiracy of silence, this culture that is conducive to corruption, is to make celibacy optional. (He also states that the environment within the seminaries fosters sexual immaturity in men being trained for the priesthood.) I agree with him.
Hari Singh says
Why are there so many sexually confused people in the Catholic church clergy?
When Catholic boys are young some have no attraction to girls whether for biological or nascent sexual orientation reasons, they then often think that this is a calling to the celibate life of a priest. When they get older they often find they are gay and begin that lifestyle in the priesthood with ample company.Even Martin Luther, a monk, complained of buggery and sodomy in monasteries.
Others according to Dr. Bessel van der Kolk in her book ”The Compulsion to Repeat the Trauma”, where she writes;‘’Some traumatized people remain preoccupied with their trauma at the expense of other life experiences and continue to re-create it in some form for themselves or for others. War veterans may listed as mercenaries, victims of incest may become prostitutes and victims of childhood physical abuse seemingly provoke subsequent abuse in foster families or become self-mutilators . Still others identify with the aggressor and do to others what has been done to them.’’
The problem of priests molesting youth is a continual problem as the victims mature to become perpetrators. This problem is a problem in the Roman Catholic Church since at least medieval times and only now is being uncovered. Exposing the problem as celibacy makes all priests uncomfortable and unwilling to do anything.
eduardo odraude says
The reality seems to be that very few are capable of total celibacy. Perhaps the Church should permit marriage for priests. Or should find a more reliable test to determine who is truly capable of celibacy and exclude others from the priesthood. But then there would probably be very, very few Catholic priests.
Chand says
eduardo odraude “Or should find a more reliable test to determine who is truly capable of celibacy and exclude others from the priesthood. ”
Don’t think such ‘tests’ are feasible or would be scientific enough. Humans are programmed for procreation and sex, through evolution. So it is extremely difficult to transcend those urges. Probably very strong religious faith and austere practices might work. And yet they might not.

Many husbands cheat on their wives and vice versa. Also, gays don’t marry and if they do, statistics show a divorce in 2 years. Men should learn self discipline and take what the soldiers had to take….salt peter or something like that. Ann says
Thanks for that link and your thoughts. I think homosexuality has always been a major problem. Now that we have phone and countless ways to connect – it can’t stay secret.
Fr Peter Damian just happened to write a book about it. How many Fr Damian’s didn’t have access to pen and paper?
I’ve recently come to the same conclusion – that the only way through it is to allow priests to marry.
Not only that, but with the rise of gay power – the cabal of homosexuals in the church will be even more vicious to straight faithful men. It will soon become unbearable for good men. Thanks again.
carpediadem says
Interestingly, the Church used to not be celibate but apparently the Pope – I don’t know which one – wanted to keep Church property for the Church so forbade marriage and family.
Again, it was about the money and keeping it.
Joe says
Actually, Peter and the other Apostles became celibate after hearing Jesus teach about such things. Peter complains about it in the Gospel. For a while, some priests were celibate and others were not, but parishes started to demand celibate priests. As this demand grew, the Church mandated celibacy.
The priest has no claim to Church property, so there would be no inheritance.

SteveFinSC says
Not that I’ve seen. I think that celibacy among church leaders can be attributed to Paul. In his First Letter to the Corinthians, Chapter 7, Paul writes, “I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I.(08) [i.e.,celibate ] But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.” (09)
So, Paul includes the warning that some may not be able to refrain and therefore should marry to prevent trouble.
Later in the same chapter, he writes, “But I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord: (32) But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife.(33) There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband. (34) And this I speak for your own profit; not that I may cast a snare upon you, but for that which is comely, and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction. (35)

I agree with you. Celibacy needs to be optional. So many young men who are ardent in their faith are turned away because they know that they cannot persevere as celibates. Celibacy is an ideal, because the priest is an “alter Christus” and the celibate priest is by that very fact (joined to his ordination) a perfect icon of the saviour. However “let him who CAN take it take it”. Most of the apostles chosen by the Lord were married men. True they left all to follow Him, but we do not read that they never visited their wives from time to time. There was no obligatory celibacy in the universal Chruch for quite a long time. The Christian “marriage bed that is undefiled” is in itself an beautiful and deeply theological icon of the union of Christ and his Bride, the Church, so I see no contradiction or degradation at all of the sublime reality of the catholic priesthood in married priests.
There is no doubt at all, if you examine the historical record, that enforced celibacy of the clergy has been a big source of scandal in the church through the ages. Celibacy is not of divine law: it is disciplinary. Many young men full of zeal to sacrifice the pleasures of legitimate sex and marriage to the Lord they love and to be celibate, in the long run simply cannot sustain the battle and continually fall into sins of the flesh, which is a source of depression and even moral terror to their God loving souls. There is also grave danger that knowing that they cannot even look at pretty women in their congregations without mightily stirring up the natural urge normal young men have to make love, they strive to deny and sublimate this natural urge and it eventually resurfaces as an unnatural attraction to the same sex.
This great battle full of falls and the resulting depression and anger greatly diminishes the effectiveness of their ministry.
Carolyne says
Sexuality is the normal state of a human being. (Animals, too BTW.). To be celebrate is abnormal. If a God intended celebacy He/she/it would have created a third sex. It is nonsense.

wow. i just read the story about cardinal burke, which i found quite hopeful, even though he is apparently the only catholic official willing to say that islam demands temporal power. at the end, there was a link to another story, which removed all my hope for the catholic church. its title is “Catholicism and Islam can help to humanise society, say interfaith leaders,” and it details how church leaders met in rome with the Royal Institute for Interfaith Studies, an islamic dawa group based in amman, jordan. at the end, the group released a statement stating ‘The participants said Muslims and Christians share many values, which “constitute a solid basis (for) peacefully and fruitfully living together[.]”‘
so, do tell; which commands of Christ tell us to rape non-christian women, lie to non-christians, enslave non-christians, murder non-christians, and put the fear of God into non-christians by killing their friends, relatives, and countrymen in horrific ways? i’m not catholic, but i am born-again christian, and i *know* that *none* of these things are taught by the catholic church – and that they *are* taught by the quran and the sunnah.
*surely* there *must* be some who have studied history at the undergraduate level at least among the priesthood. i cannot believe that such learned men can be so ignorant. i must also add that many among non-catholic clergy are equally oblivious, and are doing the same job of leading their flocks astray.
i’m grasping at straws here, but here goes; my guess is that because these folks are drawn from the same pool of citizens from which their congregations are drawn, they are taught as poorly as are the rest of us. they, too, have been the victims of lies taught by the hard left. they have no idea how islam works, because the hard-core left has skillfully pointed them away from the truth, taught them not to think for themselves, and twisted the gospel to become a “social gospel” more amenable to reaching leftist goals of power.
thus, those of us who have learned the truth about the evil cult of islam need to speak to our clergy to enlighten them. it will be hard, because it is hard for those in a position of leadership to accept reproof and instruction from those who didn’t go to the same school and learn the same things; clergy are human, too, and are susceptible to prideful downfall. perhaps the socratic method of teaching is the best approach in this case; even a deliberately prideful individual who is not clergy can be taught if one appeals to his sense of superiority. especially if your clergyman considers himself a humble servant of Christ, U may be able to question him humbly about islam in such a way that he *has* to learn what islam teaches. unless he is a monster, learning the truth for himself should open his eyes.
i am praying for civilization; it sure looks like it’s on its last legs from my perspective.

I find it rather puzzling that Christian leaders can succumb to the lies of what Islam is and what it stands for in this day and age. Seems to me I have read a phrase that goes something like”…they are without excuse…”, for we have access to information on just about anything with the advent of the Internet. There is no excuse for anyone to not know the truth. Perhaps there is an alternate theory behind all these so-called “Church leaders”, praising and enabling Islamic lies and falsehoods. Has it not occurred to anyone that these people might be working under the influence of the devil? Masked imposters who pretend to love God and follow Jesus Christ, but perpetrate the lie of Islam to appear so unjudgementally ecumenical and lovingly inclusive? The only similarities between islam and Christianity and Judaism are the truths taken and turned inside out by imposters who seek to glorify no one but themselves. They wish to appear better than those of us who take a critical look at Islam and see it for what it is; an evil, hateful, parody of what a loving God would want from His followers.

Oh my gosh, the whole world is awash in sin and dirty dealing. The Vatican has their own skeletons to hide, it’s hard for any decent person to not be shocked senseless by the rampant abuse that organization has perpetuated against Christ’s “little children.” Sorry Christians, but you know it’s true. I was raised a Catholic, I’m glad I’ve renounced the faith. I know the Church has done some good, and maybe faith in Christ does offer salvation and forgiveness, I don’t know. But I for one cannot support or condone any spiritual “business” that lacks the moral courage to defend children from abuse, or human rights from islam’s doctrines of bigotry and hate. Christians by the thousands are murdered and persecuted daily for those doctrines. You’d think that the same Church that in the past engendered torture and murder of religious dissenters would try and balance the books with courage for religious freedom today. Instead what we get is dangerous equivocation and weakness in the face of islamic bigotry by those who are supposed to be the world’s greatest example of Christ’s love. I’m less angry than I am sad at the loss. How nice it would have been for all of us if the Church could have filled the spiritual/moral hole left by our leaders who really don’t care. It’s like when you’re faced with a serious conflict in life, you hope your friends will come through for you but instead desert you in your greatest time of need. The Church has shown us time and again they are not our friends when it comes to islam. They are cowards, weakened by their own sketchy past and sins. This tells me that we can’t rely too heavily on their help in fighting islam’s attack on religious freedom and human rights. If Christ were here I think he’d be rooting for us “islamophobes,” we are the ones who care enough to speak the truth about islam’s bigoted, violent doctrines. Spencer, Geller and Wilders have literally risked their lives to get the truth out there, for no other reason than to save lives and improve the human condition. Christ would be proud, I know this in my deepest heart. Yes, Christ would most likely forgive those muslims on the wrong path, but he would never protect them in their error with lies and blatant denials of reality. Say what we will about Christ, he was a man of good moral conviction who did not compromise his duty to god. The Church has failed in their duty to fulfill his mission for us all. I can’t hate the Church for this, it’s more that I feel sad for their failure to be great for others. I never get that feeling with people like Spencer and Wood and Geller and Anne Waters, in them I see great people doing great things for others, and I feel humbled.

It is not their faith that is showing these Catholic bishops an ugly face or is letting them down, it is rather their political-correct and post-modernist value system which stems from their secular liberal relativism that is showing its ugly face and is letting them down! All Political, religious, academic and media institutions in the West have been greatly infected with ultra liberal Hollywood value system and the Catholic church is not immune to this.
Wellington says
Actually, Japetto, I think you wrote a pretty good assessment of things. I am an agnostic, raised a Catholic like you, and i still often defend the Catholic Church historically speaking (let’s face it, those Renaissance Popes, many of them, were less than stellar in the moral arena but they sure knew art—no velvet Jesuses in the Vatican that’s for sure; and a Pope like Urban II who called the First Crusade had no good words for Islam and was a “magnificent” 11th-century Islamophobe; and in countless medieval monasteries much of the best produced by the classical world was preserved), but the Catholic Church since Vatican II (1962-1965) has been on a downward slide big time with only a few major exceptions here and there (e.g., the previous Pope, Benedict XVI, who “got” Islam and truly valued Western Civilization).
Were I still a Catholic, still religious, the Roman Catholic Church as it exists today would break my heart. Hell, it half does so anyway even though I’m now a pagan. Yes, a Catholic Church which has its act together, which it surely does not presently, should be valued by all who comprehend that Western Civilization is the greatest civilization in man’s history and that the Catholic Church traditionally contributed immensely to this achievement. No longer. Indeed, it’s gotten to a point where it is quite arguable that the Catholic Church has become an obstacle in the quest to preserve the West.
Japetto Danatelli says
Thanks Wellington, your compliment means a lot, you’ve always had smart things to say in here. I like that post too, it came from the heart. Those are usually my best ones. And congratulations on your move to paganism, it’s an eclectic and peaceful movement with a respectful attitude toward nature and a healthy celebration of life. And you’re right , the Church is betraying their own good contribution to Western society, they truly have become “an obstacle in the quest to preserve the West.” It’s a setback for them, for us, for everyone. But we can’t let their failure dampen our spirits, they may have tarnished their own image but they can’t destroy truth or our mission in its defense. Their weakness will become our strength, and we will be great on their behalf. And when the job is done we will welcome them back to share in the fruits of our labor. That’s who we are, that’s the kind of person I want to be.
Thanks 6woods, I’m never so sure of myself that the support of others doesn’t mean anything. I’m just a student of life, struggling to do the right thing. Islam contains too much “bad” to be good. I feel duty bound to speak against those evils and to do my little part to serve the greater good for everyone. And if god exists then I want to honor that great entity by destroying the slanderous hate islam teaches, not only against us unbelievers, but god, too. Nothing is more insulting to a god of love than islam’s misrepresentation of Her as an ignorant, bigoted hater and killer. This has to change. Muslims need to dare to take a peek inside. That’s how they can defeat “islamophobia,” by first acknowledging the grave defects in their “religion” that threaten and oppress others; and second, by acting on that truth to make the necessary changes. Such actions will garner them respect and there will no longer be any need to attack their religion with painful truths that hurt and embarrass. Romans 14:19 says, “So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding.” That’s what I say, let’s pursue peace, but with a healthy respect for the life-saving truth, not with some lunatic’s view of reality.
Kepha says
Cautionary tale:
We Evangelical Protestants haven’t changed our tune that Islam is a false religion. If we are peaceful and accepting towards Muslims as people (at least if they’re not trying to harm us), it is because the Bible commands us to seek peace with all men, as much as it is up to us (read Paul’s letter to the Romans and the letter to the Hebrews). Now, if that results in some of our non-Christian neighbors turning Christian, we are humbled and grateful for God’s mercy, and would like to see more–since we consider this a big win in the spiritual (NOT armed) warfare to which we are called.
But, because we insist that Islam is not Christianity under a different name, and that the goals of the two religions lead to frightfully different ends, we are perpetually accused of bigotry. We’re the people the MSM and comedy circuit love to hate.
Richard says
Dear Japetto: I am no going to attack you with ad hominum attacks. I am a traditional Catholic and share your misery over the state of the Church. Please do not judge the Church by those who have stepped outside the Church and are no longer serving God, but “the other guy”. Vatican II began this horrible feeling of guilt over being Catholic and knowing it is the One True Faith (You will disagree). So they began the “I’m o.k., you’re o.k.” bit and it got worse and worse. I m most definitely NOT o.k. and I know it, or I would stay home and let people pray to me. Robert Spenser is quite correct in saying the Church seems to be more interested in appeasing Islam than in the Nicene Creed. I sat in a church and listened to a sermon by a priest who said the Old Testament was fiction, made up by the Jews to excuse their killing all the original occupants of Israel. This is NOT the Catholic Faith! A nun at the same church told me: “Richard, you’re an intelligent person. You can’t possibly believe the Bible is real!” Yes, I do. That is why I fled from that church and others like it. Most Catholic Churches deliberately mistranslate the Bible readings at Mass and delete condemnations of sins they feel will offend the parishioners who want to commit them. This is akin to Jesus’ denunciations of “those who say they are Jews but are not.” I now only go to traditional Catholic Churches. I will go on to defend a celibate priesthood. In the eleventh century, to quote Dom Gueranger, many occupied the Papal throne who were unfit to do so. Many, if not most priests had wives or mistresses. One monk kept writing pope after pope to do something about it. None did, on the grounds that all those men would leave the priesthood. Finally, the monk himself was made Pope Gregory VII. His first act as pope was to send out a notification to all the priests and bishops: “Get rid of the women or you’re excommunicated! I don’t care if I’m the only priest left in the Church. And get rid of your bastard children. I don’t want the faithful feeling their donations are being spent supporting your families!” Was he hated for it? Oh, yes!! But today he is recognized as “The Savior of the Church.”
Religious reasons for celibacy aside, I will give you a very good practical one. A church’s priests usually live together in a building. This helps combat loneliness which results in the alcoholism which is otherwise so common among priests. Now, let us consider a church I know of which has five priests, which it supports. That is an easy expense, but suppose each of those priests is married. The Church rightly does not allow birth control, which results in a decline of population which as you see, has resulted in Muslims flooding Christian nations to fill the vacancy. So let us imagine that each of those priests and their wives has five children (which is fewer than they would have). You can’t have that many families of that size living in a small building, so now the parishioners must buy each priest and his family a house, along with automobiles, health insurance, clothes, food, electricity and water, etc. so now a parish which supported five frugal priests now finds itself supporting thirty-five people, living in five homes with cars, health insurance, food, clothing, perhaps college tuition, etc. By now you cam hear the parishioners screaming at the top of their lungs for priestly celibacy. And they will scream louder when a parishioner is dying and cannot get the last rites because his or her priest has to attend their son’s baseball game. The priest is to be “another Christ” in that their entire life is to be devoted to working for and contemplating God in ways as close to God as he can perform. That is extremely hard to do when it means ignoring your wife and children, let alone the other calls to the world, such as getting up in the middle of the night and rushing out to hear someone’s confession (which priests are bound to do, though few modernist ones obey) There are priests who live that sort of holy life. I know some. They are almost all traditional. Compare their lives to the poor priests who must be very careful not to offend their parishioners who bring in the money. I know a magnificent monsignor in charge of a modernist parish. I asked him about it and his reply was “We have a lot of people, but no Catholics.” Again, Japetto, I would invite you to try a traditional Catholic parish. (And, yes, some of them are weird and even crazy, but one of Jesus’ disciples was Judas. The other eleven were saints). My heart aches for your sufferings, for I myself have felt them, as have so many other Catholics who have fled the Church or been driven out by priests, nuns and parishioners who are the enemies of everything Jesus stood for. God made Man in HIs image and now these men and women are trying to remake God in their malformed images. Again, please do not blame the Church for those who have stepped outside the Church. God is more offended by this than are both of us.
Japetto Danatelli says
Richard,
Well thanks for that heartfelt reply, it’s a lot to take in. It’s rather in-depth and somewhat tangential to this thread, so it’s a little more than I’m prepared to deal with. Still, we essentially agree in our dissatisfaction with much of what certain Church employees say and do. But I gotta be honest here, my dissatisfaction with Christianity goes deeper than the current state of things, I am in fundamental disagreement with much of what that religion teaches about god and Jesus. I applaud Christianity’s golden rule and teachings on forgiveness, charity, and compassion, but I find the supernatural underpinnings too much for my logical mind to bear. This is not something I want to debate in here, so please don’t consider that an invitation for discussion. So I’m not one of those “driven out by priests, nuns and parishioners who are the enemies of everything Jesus stood for.” I’m just one of those guys that simply took a hard, rational look at the “greatest story ever told” and found that it did not fit my preconceived notions of how a really smart, loving god would act or “think.” And I gotta add for the rational minded folks in here–that’s assuming god even exists.
I welcome a Christian perspective in here, we need the views of other legitimate religions to counter and highlight islam’s irreligious teachings about god and humanity. Of course islam can be considered a religion to the extent that it references a deity via supposed revelation, albeit an evil one. But since islam operates from the viewpoint of one seeking to subjugate and control others I put it more in the category of political fascism, or perhaps gangsterism. Islam’s expressed goal is to force submission to the will of allah, or to murder and extort those who refuse. This truly is gangsterism at its finest. Spencer has used the joke, it’s like getting a visit from some big guys in nice suits who “politely” grant you an invitation for insurance you simply can’t refuse–I’m paraphrasing, I don’t remember his exact words. Anyway, to me that’s what islam means to the marrow, there’s a kind wafting thuggery in everything muslims do in their dealings with “unbelievers.” That’s why I’m against it, because it’s more like a criminal enterprise pretending to be a religion, not a religion serving humanity with divine truths from a loving god. Islam is the worst kind of offense to a humanitarian god in my opinion, as it portrays god as a bigoted killer, and it devastates the cause of peaceful cooperation and mutual understanding with its brutal, uncompassionate view of the rights and feelings of others. That’s why I hate it and speak against it, it’s far more evil than good.

Richard thank you for your thoughtful post. I’ve never considered the scenario you described, of multiple married priests and the multiple offspring all requiring housing, food, cars etc. You’ve opened my mind to a problem I’d never thought of. Thank you. Like you, I’ve met some terrific priests and nuns but also met soom doozies especially in my convent boarding school days where they loved to flog us little kids with luggage straps. That turned me right of nuns, God and religion in general. But I’ve made my peace with all this some long time back and now feel at peace in my own understanding of the Divine and how to serve life and those around me..

Thank you for your post. There are many things within the structure, attitudes among priest and bishops, one is possessiveness with modern clergy the other is indifferentism.
The homosexaul activity in the realms of the priesthood is a disgrace.
Here is a clip of a French priest slapping a baby at a baptism. This really makes my blood boil. This clip was taken down on youtube.
I am a Catholic, will always be one, the fight is within and outside the Church. Respect Catholics who are shocked and disheartened by the antics of the clergy.

Japetto Danatelli says
Malcolm,
I see this sad episode as a kind of metaphor of how the left treats us, we frantically cry out our fears and concerns about islam and their response is to slap us. And just like this priest they too should be relieved of their duties. With these positions of responsibility comes an obligation to act a certain way, to care when one should care, to be understanding when the situation calls for it. The left has abandoned good behavior and moral responsibility with their blatant denials and outrageous lies for islam. We came forth with our reasoned views and expected to be treated like people who deserve to be heard. Instead we got “slapped” with epithets like “racist” and “bigot” and “islamophobe” and “Nazi.” We’re threatened with jail or fines or risk losing our livelihood because the left has created a climate of hate against us. Good people are slapped out of their homes for immigrants that hate and resent their help. In fact we’re slapped a hundred different ways for islam and muslims, like at the airport when we’re degraded and searched, our welfare is sucked dry, our neighborhoods taken over by their dangerous enclaves, our kids and women raped… the list is too long for my point. You can slap a baby and get away with it, but slap an oppressed and hurting “infidel” and you’re risking civil war. Careful dear leaders, be wary of who you slap.

It could be that people just disagree with your analysis. In other words, you may not be 100% right.
For the record, I don’t think that Islam is a religion of peace but I also think you actually want to them to acknowledge that Islam is evil which is altogether different.

Mohammed said “I have been made victorious through terror”. The Quran says that on the last day, the rocks and trees will cry out “O muslim, there is a Jew hiding behind me. Come and kill him”. Jesus will come down from your cesspool of a heaven (janaat, or however the hell you spell it) break all the crosses, and kill all the Christians. That pedophile, rapist, slaughterer of a prophet (shit be upon him/it) is the “insan all kamil”….the perfect man for all muzzies to follow for all time. Tens of thousands of terror attacks just since 9/11committed by your ugly co-religionists prove that they worship this pig (not allah).
So take your “religion of peace” taqqiya and shove it up your ass.

Sorry, meant to say “take your ‘islam is not evil’ taqqiya and shove it up your ass”. How is raping, slaughtering, and enslaving people who don’t believe what you do, not horrendously narcissistic and evil? You’re an apologist, and therefore not credible.

Uh, Lebel, Islam is evil and it is as evil as Nazism and Marxism. All three are enemies of liberty and all three single out certain groups (Islam with non-believers, Nazism with certain ethnic or racial groups, and Marxism with certain socio-economic groups) for either second-class status or death. Compounding all this where Islam is concerned are other “things” like death for apostasy and the sanctioning of rape.
Let me put it plain-like to you: If Islam is not evil, then nothing is evil. Plain enough, Lebel?

So, for example, the death penalty for apostasy, homosexuality, blasphemy etc. is not “evil”? Raping and enslaving women, relegating non-believers to second-class citizenship is not evil? Nail-bombing teenage girls and sawing the heads off of aid workers is not evil? Seeking to impose your totalitarian ideology on the world is not evil? Why are you such an ardent apologist?

While I’m here, we Evangelical Protestants remained more concerned that people accept the doctrines set forth in the Nicene Creed (since it reflects what is there in the Bible), and freely admit that we see Islam as a religion that gives no true peace, either in this world or the next.
I will also make another observation. On what grounds do any of us condemn pederasty? Is it not because for millennia, we have been conditioned to see the Seventh Commandment (Protestant reckoning–the one against adultery) as forbidding sexual activity outside of monogamous, heterosexual marriage to last as long as both parties are alive? On the basis of secular liberalism’s abandonment of biblical morality (bit by bit, piece by piece; a striptease of “humanism”, as someone once called it), and its embrace of moral relativism, what is the rational basis for condemning someone gratifying his desires, provided he is strong enough to do so?
Yes, I can condemn Bp. McCarrick as a hypocrite and a sexual sinner. I find the sexual ethics of Islam a cesspool. I find Islam’s glorification of armed violence a horror. But this is because I am a primitive, backwards sort who accepts what generations of Christians have found in the Bible.

There are 2 aspects of the RCC:
1.the catholic FAITH itself
2….and the disgraceful,morally bankrupt,worldly Church ADMINISTRATION
It is the Church administration, the Vatican and this appaling papacy which are betraying Catholics.
Yet,this should come as no surprise to Catholics:that’s what the prophetic predictions of Fatima 1917 was all about.
Cardinal Burke, no doubt ,is wise enough to see the great betrayal that is taking place, the great APOSTASY that was predicted at Fatima 1917(along with the ecclesiastical freemasonry that currently runs the RCC at the highest levels)He is greatly blessed with God’s wisdom if he has seen through the deception taking place and has understood that the prophecies of Fatima 1917 are unfolding now..as very few senior clergymen will.
The current “pope”, a purveyor of heresy, apostasy and nepotism(promoting his buddies..papal yes men..) is a fraud and an imposter:No surprise to Catholics given the prophecy of St Francis of Assisi.
{It was a neat trick of Mr Bergolio to adopt the name francis:even die hard atheists of my acquaintance were telling me (after he was made “pope”)that he was surely going to be like St Francis….the sheeple have fallen for the luciferian deception,hook,line and sinker when even atheists are deceived by the man in Rome}
Keep a close eye on the Vatican and don’t be surprised at more heresy and lies from Rome.Events in Rome will have world importance. the reason God is allowing this?To separate the wheat from the chaff.
The wheat will keep their faith in spite of the treachery and betrayal of Rome and the church hierarchy.
The chaff will go along with the deception and apostasy:see Matthew chpt 25 for the consequences..
Regarding immoral clergy:
“But should you not JUDGE the members of your own fellowship?as the scripture says..
REMOVE THE EVIL MAN FROM YOUR GROUP”
I Corinthians 5 v 13
“..and the man who has done such a thing should be EXPELLED from your fellowship” v2
But then francis famously boasted “Who am I to Judge”?That might explain the blinkered attitude…

Off this topic, I wanted to mention a report I came across when I checked on the news at news.com.au this morning. I thought Jihad Watch would be interested in it. I don’t think Jihad Watch has covered this story although I may have missed it. The report was about a 41 year old self proclaimed imam from Malaysia who has taken an 11 year old girl as his third bride. The man’s name is Che Abdul Karim. I googled his name. There are plenty of references to him and the report of his marriage. The report in news.com.au, in the world news section, was written by Marnie O’Neill. Apparently, there is quite a bit of outrage over this guy’s marriage including from his first two wives. Someone is reported in O’Neill’s report as making a Twitter comment: “Che Abdul Karim, you are a shameless, freaking, polygamous pedophile.” No doubt about that. Anyway, I thought the people at Jihad Watch would be interested in this story and might want to cover it.

The Catholic church has been corrupt since before the dark ages.
This is no shock.
It is NOT Christianity, it is NOT ‘the faith,’ but it is leading many astray by claiming to be.
I suggest people do a study of the early church and church history since then.
The BIBLE is where you will find true Christianity.
For salvation, you come to JESUS.
He told us to come to HIM.
This sort of thing just gives the enemies ammunition to slander anything to do with an impression of the Lord and His people. There is a saying that goes like this by a famous Christian theologian:
“The Catholic church is one of the best forgeries the devil ever came up with.”
It gives a false sense of salvation.
It creates victims who were abused and want nothing to do with ‘religion.’
It gives atheists and the like endless material for their angry rants.
It is a pyramid of power and a hierarchy of corruption that has vast branches, deep roots, and strong tentacles all over. But all of this will be revealed in time for those who still can’t see it.
Elisha says
Amen, sister. Although there are many God fearing people who identify as Catholic, their hierarchy places man’s word above God’s word, which is utter blasphemy! Take this garbage, for eg:
Catechism of the Catholic Church – 841 – The Church’s relationship with the Muslims. “The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day.”
muslims deny the Father and the Son (1 John 2:22) but are saved ?!?! Also, how can one call a human being “his holiness” when our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is called our brother?
God bless.

where is your proof sister, there was no apostasy, no falling away. The gates of hell didnt prevail over gods church. The devil did not prevail over the church. All talk about God on a website such as this one is a subterfuge which only helps the cause of Muslims and their useful idiots. The topic of banishment of Islam turns into one of who has the better god. After all, it is easier to slag something as ugly as Islam than to defend sexual assaults by administrators of the Roman Catholic and other churches or the need for tax advantages.
Idiots such as **it*ace have no answer to the removal of Islam from Western nations, just more religious drivel. The malaise is the koran and everything that comes with it. Drivel, such as which delusional or purposefully lying scumbag from 1400 or more years ago who spoke to God and has been the only valid one in history to do so, from the mouths of the self-delusional is risible. Talk by individuals, who when they make such statements these days are locked up in an asylum for the betterment of us all, of chatting with some god, does not help.
Focus on what you can do and that is probe every journalist and would-be elected official to determine their thoughts on Islam then act accordingly. Ditto corporations that broadcast images implying that everything about Islam is perfectly ordinary and acceptable. Defend democracy which is incompatible with Islam and always will be since we are our own gods and shall never be subject to some thing that does not exist.

First and formost Catholicism is not Christian. The Vatican is the direct continuation of the Roman Senate and the Roman view of life. It is about gaining territories, and controlling the masses for the purpose of acquiring wealth. Like the Roman elite they continue to abuse children and like the Roman RELIGION, they follow ISIS (Egyptien mother and baby) Dionysus (Born the 25 of December and was killed on the 25 of March and resorrected by Jupiter. They follow Mithras (Aryan god from Iran who was born in the 25 of December died on a cross the 25 of March and was resorrected after 3 days. In the Germanic-Nordic religion, Baldr the baeutiful was born on the 25 of December was crucified on the Druids cross and was resorrected by Odin. Therefore, the Catholic church dressed christianity with those stories. Jesus is far away from all this ideology and his name was just used for the purpose of collecting money and creating wars. The Vatican is nothing more that a financial institution which stands at the top of the banks around the world. Let them open their library and disclose old knowledge so people can understand from where they come.

The problem with the Catholic leadership , the liberal Jewish leadership ,and many other Christian faith leadership is the blindness to the truth that Islam is a bad religion. That Islam is hell bend on destruction of all faiths beside itself .That true Islam is racist ,bigoted, Violent, rape and murder culture that cannot be reformed .It core beliefs are based on subjugation ,slavery ,rape ,lying and thief from nonbelievers .My own opinion is many of these church leaders think they can sway Islamic followers with logic , love, brotherhood they do not understand true followers of Islam are like true Nazis ,followers of a death cult willing to kill and die for their cause. The truth of Islam is so horror fill in the Koran and Hadiths the church leaders refuse to accept the truth ,it cannot be reformed or accept only rejected and exposed to the world what it is. Leaders of the churches who expose themselves to blackmail by their own immoral behavior should be exposed and throw in jail ,the churches should not cover up criminal behavior because it is “embarrassing ” to the church .I would go further in saying church leadership who knew about his behavior and cover up for it should also be in jail. It is time for the Roman Catholic church to take responsibility and hold its leaders to the same standard any large organization that operates world wide does. The coverup is more worst for the organization then the crime itself ,if they catch expose the individual hand him over to the authorities right away others in the organization would think twice before committing immoral acts. This goes for any organization that has great power of how people run their everyday lives, I look at churches leaders as a kind of police or military organization leaders they must be held at a much higher level of moral behavior then the average citizen .Islamic imams hold forth the Koran, Hadiths ,Mohammed,s immoral behavior as normal to be imitated that is why Islam is rotten to the core.
