The Washington Post, like the rest of the establishment media, is not in any actual sense a news organization. It is just a propaganda outfit for the far-Left and, as this praise from the Taliban shows, for the Left’s allies among the forces of the global jihad.
“Taliban Laud ‘Famous’ Washington Post for Article on Their ‘Just Islamic Governance,'” by Bridget Johnson, PJ Media, July 6, 2018:
The Taliban are taking umbrage with “enemy propaganda” that refers to them as an insurgent or terrorist group, arguing that the Washington Post correctly characterized them as a parallel government in a recent article.
That WaPo piece, published June 21, reported on a June study, “Life under the Taliban shadow government,” by the Overseas Development Institute, a British think-tank.
“Taliban governance is more coherent than ever before; high-level commissions govern sectors such as finance, health, education, justice and taxation, with clear chains of command and policies from the leadership based in Pakistan down to villages in Afghanistan,” stated the think-tank. “The reach of Taliban governance demonstrates that they do not have to formally occupy territory to control what happens within it. Governance does not come after the capture of territory, but precedes it. The Taliban’s influence on services and everyday life extends far beyond areas they can be said to control or contest. That the Taliban set the rules in vast swathes of the country is a reality with which few in the international community are willing to engage.”
The Washington Post article said the study painted a “very different portrait” for “those who imagine that Taliban control in some regions of Afghanistan consists mainly of men being beaten for failing to pray and girls being forced to stay home from school.”
In a statement Tuesday, the Taliban complained that “the opposition and media have been propagating over the past two decades that the Islamic Emirate is a rebellious group that is hostile towards education, does not respect basic human rights, does not have capacity of good governance, and cannot provide services, welfare projects, justice and security.”
“It is not only us who claim that the Islamic Emirate is providing a secure and just Islamic governance in areas of our control, but a number of western media outlets and research groups have also come to the same conclusion and are broadcasting this reality after extensive research,” the terror group added, citing “the famous American newspaper ‘The Washington Post’” and the ODI study.
“These and other such reports prove that contrary to enemy propaganda, the Islamic Emirate is a just movement committed to the welfare, development and success of its fellow countrymen and operates as a coherent government system,” the Taliban added. “…America and those participating in this occupation must detest from fooling themselves any further and labeling our national uprising (Jihad) as terrorism to continue giving themselves a pretext for extending the war.”…

Sounds more like a “stink-tank” came up with this idea that the taliban is accomplishing governance with “security and justice,” etc. And the Post is just giving credence to it.
Their idea of “justice” is that they get to tell everyone what to do, how to do it and when. Or receive a public flogging, stoning, or other horrific punishment.
One cannot easily forget seeing them in photos and live video from years ago, administering “justice” to women out alone, or not wearing the full body bag.
Just a pack of lies in order to promote the beast and its image.

The Washington Post thinks the Taliban is a parallel government….Did I read that right?? Maybe that’s the kind of government we have in Washington.

I must say, I agree with the Taliban on the WP. It’s their kind of journalism.

In order to put the WP article in context, we would need to know the following:
1. The major donors of the think tank, the board members, and the mission, vision, and goals statements.
2. The major stock holders, board members, and the top executive members of the WP.
The above should tell you everything you need to know about the drivel WP printed.
What I have gleaned from the above article is that in essence, Pakistan is slowly but surely gaining control of Afghanistan, and is in the process of annexing all or part of it.
The historical battles for this area of the world have included:
1. Control of the trade routes from the far east, southeast and south Asia to the Middle East and thence to Western Europe and the Mediterranean areas.
2. A warm water port for Russia, or a pipeline through there to the USSR
3. The discovery of rare earth metals and their control.
4. Blocking the Russians/Soviets from the above. I suspect that this has now spread to include blocking the PRC.
The Saudis told the US/CIA to NOT back the Taliban in Afghanistan during the jihad with the USSR. In reality, the US should have run far away from Afghanistan, Pakistan, the IS, and the whole Iran/Afghan/PLO Islamic jihad swamp. Instead, smarter than thou professional spooks and so called diplomats have led us into the quagmire.
Trump, get us out of there & fire anyone you can that supports any of these military interventions into these hell holes, regardless of location. Defend those defending themselves from these self appointed holy warriors.

Is it not true that the paper is _____ for the Left, far or otherwise? Did Mr. Spencer intend to make a distinction?

It is only been within the last few years that I have come to realize how liberally biased the mainstream media has become.
Interestingly, for the most part, this was not the case 30-40 years ago. Sad.

The most important phrase in this piece is “Governance does not come after the capture of territory, but precedes it.” This is key for understanding Islamofascism in America as they are trying this in places such as Minnesota.

Just before 9/11 Jay Leno interviewed his wife (Mavis) on The Tonight show.
Mavis was trying to raise awareness on the murderous atrocities committed against women by Islamists in Afghanistan and in Islamic-Africa. One of the lighter bits that happened in that interview was when Mavis, trying to be politically correct, called people in Africa “African-American’s” instead of blacks.
Jay was gracious, remained silent, and the audience didn’t even laugh at the faux pas (or the editors cut the sound). I laughed out load!
Regardless, the Taliban is still just as bad as ever, where are these women speaking out & up against the MSM and the UN for giving a pass to REAL abusers?
Harvey is a boy scout next to those thugs, oh well … the ends justify the MEME’s TOO in an Orwelian leftist Hillary Rotten Clinton dystopia.

The Washington Post does not speak for all of us. And whether we like what they say or not, we can’t stop them from running their newspaper. I hate them I hope they shut down, but as Americans we must respect their freedom of speech. But we too are entitled and will speak the truth

Very slick approach by the W.P. i.e. a balanced judgement of the Taliban should consist of that which they ‘mainly’ do. So the reader gets led along to consciously bypass those things that take up less of the Talban’s time and energy such as severely marginalising, harassing and brutalising Afghani girls and women. The apologists who write or accept this stuff have chosen some pretty poxy bedfellows to sleep with.
