The video of the actual press conference begins at around -28.26.
For years I have called for a reconfiguration of our international alliances to create a coalition of non-Muslim states defending themselves against the global jihad. The Left, which has suddenly discovered a threat from Russia decades after the end of the Cold War, may succeed in preventing this, to the detriment of the free world.
Mac-101 says
So why do the Libs hate Russia so much NOW and want WWIII while the Clintons and Obama take da Ruskie money?
Keys says
Remember the Romney – Obama Presidential Debate when Romney stated he thought Russia was the biggest geo-political threat for the USA, and Obama sarcastically told Romney that the Cold War was over ?

Obama – erroring arrogance mixed with agenda driven deceit !
Mac-101 says
True, even then I screamed at the TV and said Red China was and we were enabling them at an accelerating rate!
Indiana Tom says
I am more worried about Red China than I am Russia.
vlparker says
I’m worried more about muslim immigration to the US than I am about Russia or China.
Terry Gain says
Islam is the biggest threat to western democracies.
gravenimage says
Yes–Islam is the biggest threat to us today.
mgoldberg says
The left dreamed a dream that Russia would take up the mantle of the socialist dream once again. But it’s just the Russian oligarchy all over again and since that has prevented their dream, they rage. When Obama played the dream sequence for them, it was ok. The Russians could dupe us and take over the ukraine, rebuild and Obama allowed the dream of old russia to live on in his globablist fantasy. As you noted, the Romney claim of Russian dangers was met
with disdain by Obama, the left and the dems. they didn’t mind that Russia aided the Iranians
in building the most dangerous nuclear threat to our world.
Now, they rage because the illusion is gone. Russia is an oligarchy, an adversary but it has been so for 100 yrs. They need the globalist meme to go on, and hating their own country, is part of that total package. Total endless immigration. And so on and so forth.

St. Manuel II Palailogos says
This was a good day. Even though the media is spinning this out of control. Peace between Russia and United States, and continued relations. Couldn’t be more satisfied with the outcome.
I’ve officially converted to the MAGA train. The rest of Trump’s policies I thought were ridiculous until this one.

Welcome aboard!

Good post Jay Boo.
Lebel says
“The Left, which has suddenly discovered a threat from Russia decades after the end of the Cold War,”
Crimea? anyone here remember?
2008 Russo-georgian war?
We can blame the left for a lot of things but they didn’t create these wars.
gravenimage says
Yes, I remember these things, and have often severely criticized them. I would add the poisoning of journalists and persecution of protesters, as well. Russia is *far* from a fully free country.
What Lebel does not say, though, is how *any* of this will be improved if Jihad terrorists are allowed to attack Russia. Will more Russians dying at the hands of Jihadists make any of this better? Of course, it will not–unless, of course, one shares the Jihadist’s aims.
Westman says
If the Russian language was English they would likely be an ally. The language barrier is significant; Russian having no relation to the romance languages. Language and culture inform and shape each other and stand as a barrier to inter-culture peace. That barrier spells the eventual collapse of the EU, an experiment already entering a crisis.
I can’t remember a time when an instruction manual had a section in Russian.
Lebel says
It is well beyond language. The reality is that the West has encircled Russia with strategic weapons and worked tirelessly to replace Russian-friendly leaders with Western lackeys. Those are facts and the only ones who aren’t aware are large portions of the American citizenry.
Do not forget also Western support for separatism in the Caucasus.
Indiana Tom says
Well, encircling other nations is what the USA is good at. The Japanese always complained about this in WW2. Come to think of it, the Federals were really good at this during the Civil War, just took a little while.

Westman says
Lebel, you write as if you would not approve of better relations between Russia and the West if they learned to stop considering the other to be the Boogie Man? There is an old adage that A is to B as B is to A. That is, Russia sees us as we see her.
gravenimage says
Westman–with all respect–I don’t think this is about language. Russia has been unfree for its entire history–in fact, it has often been worse than it is now.
Bezelel says
Russia spent a lot of blood in Crimea in WWII fighting Nazi’s, There’s a reason Russian language is spoken there. They have had a Naval base there for decades. Just sayin.
Asally says
Yeah. We also can’t blame them for the Boston Marathon bombing. If you remember, Putin did try to warm Obama about the Tsarnaev family’s history and suggest they be carefully watched and contained. So of course they weren’t and a lot of people were killed an injured whose only crime was to think they were safe on their own streets in Boston and went out to enjoy the Marathon. We CAN blame Obama for that one.
gravenimage says
This is true.

And who was president during these events: BUSH AND OBAMA.<——–NOT TRUMP'S RESPONSIBILITY
**** Hey Mitt, the 80's called they want their foreign policy back *****
The naivety and bambi ignorance of smart mouth barry on that stage back in 2012 has now shamed him and it's in the books.
So yeah, we blame the left. Now shut up, watch Trump undo the barry/Bush debacle and lick your wounds. Watch Trump's actions so you can learn what it means not to be so politically inferior.

Video: Trump says US and Russia will maintain open communication to fight “radical Islamic terrorism”
………………….
*Good*.
dan christensen says
The generals and bureaucrats of Nato as well as the american industrial-military complex depend for their livelihood on maintaining sustained enmity with Russia.
Simple as that.
gravenimage says
One need not agree with authoritarian Russia on all matters–God Knows I don’t–to welcome seeing us join with them to share information on Jihad terror.
Wellington says
I have long wanted optimal Russo-American relations but with someone like Putin leading Russia I am dubious to say the least that anything of true value can be accomplished between Russia and America.
Putin is a killer and a liar. Then it’s downhill from there. I fear Trump may be trusting this man too much though Trump is a very clever guy and just as he indicated warm feelings for the Chinese leadership but then later on withdrew it, harshly criticizing China for such things as tariffs, so might he do the same with Putin in a month or so. Time will tell.
Meanwhile, Democrats are in hysterics with Trump’s temporary patch-up with Putin. Democrats are often in hysterics and it has become for me something of a spectator sport to witness.

Thanks for the good wishes, Keys. I have seen that “seal” before and each time I have it has brought a smile upon my face. After all, nothing can really be funny if there is no truth in it. Much truth in this instance.

The thing about intel community in any country, one really does not know what to believe, no one person, in politics, religion, business, or in trustworthy positions, is above scrutiny.
Just an uneasy feeling about the Trump position is: These investigations by the Mueller team are they sincere or there to impede the President’s efforts on the international and domestic fronts by the DOJ and FBI.
The balance of evidence favours Trump, as up to this point there is nothing to support the collusion theory.
The liberal MSM around the world at this moment are pulling out all the stops to to portray Trump as weak and unable to negotiate with leaders.
The way I see it, there are powers that will stop at nothing to destroy Trump. Trump has succeeded in three areas: business, top rated TV reality show, no political experience yet won the Presidency.
There is enough evidence there that demonstrates, he knows what he is doing. If there is anyone out there who has done greater than him, I am willing to listen.
Keep well.
Diane says
Regarding Mueller:
Ever since he’s come on the scene (to replace Comey), I HAVE NEVER TRUSTED HIM. I know this is not a rational, fact,-based point that I’m making…. but for whatever reason, my feeling, my internal gut instinct towards this man is negative…and no matter what new information comes out… I just can’t shake this feeling.
Malcolm (South Afric) says
@ Diane
They are probably spot on, until reason says differently.
The European says
Trump’s current good relation with Russia has very pragmatic reasons. With a trade war looming between the US and China, he simply doesn’t want Russia to be against him. It’s a clever move to thwart a possible alliance between China and Russia, and given the tense relationshio between the US and the EU, there are not so many other options available to him.
Wellington says
I think you’re correct.
Indiana Tom says
EU is not America’s friend.

Here is the hypocrisy of the Left, keep in mind that these charges with this Russian thing, occurred under Obama, John Brennan (communist) watch.
Is the left anti Putin, Russian, narrative, pro China, Saudi Arabia, indicative that they love power, socialism, more than America and do not care a nickel about America, the people, what’s true or false.
Look at this clip and see what the Left narrative is now:
Rarely says
Russia acts in Russia’s best interests. They’ve shown time and again that they will do what they want when they want. This agreement costs them nothing and might be a step to the removal of US sanctions.
However, Radical Islamic Terrorism now has a name–“Radical Islamic Terrorism. The enemy has been named. Hurray. Now we’ll see who gets in line to call a spade a spade.
IanB says
Just drop the “Radical”. It’s Islamic Terrorism.
Fedup says
“Putin offered permitting officials in the US, including Mueller, to Russia to assist in their investigation of the supposed Trump-Russia collusion story. Then Putin dropped his bomb where the US could reciprocate Russia in one of their investigations –”
For instance, we can bring up Mr. Browder, in this particular case. Business associates of Mr. Browder have earned over $1.5 billion in Russia and never paid any taxes neither in Russia or the United States and yet the money escaped the country. They were transferred to the United States. They sent [a] huge amount of money, $400,000,000, as a contribution to the campaign of Hillary Clinton. Well that’s their personal case. It might have been legal, the contribution itself but the way the money was earned was illegal. So we have solid reason to believe that some [US] intelligence offers accompanied and guided these transactions. So we have an interest in questioning them. A lot of people could bite the dust after this.
J. Bird says
Still, it is somewhat like “whack-a-mole”. The mole is still there, to come out again. And it will.

Curious about the man that was removed from the press conference, clutching papers, I spotted the word “Turkey”, across the typed document. It is nice however not to have disruptions during the Q&A. session, curious about the incident however. Turkey has a interest in the Islamic caliphate and is brutal in my opinion… is part of the OIC if I am not mistaken works with Russia. President Trump sounded very good to me and I am happy he is interested in working with Russia to stop Islamic jihad. He handled all questions perfectly. I am pleased with the respectful visit, unlike the protesters in the U.K..and the mentioning of the Pakistan brothers server disappearance…..a major security risk. AAh talk about interference. Russia is changing in a good way.
underbed cat says
Nuclear non-proliferation is the life affirming move.

The left in the U.S. is very dangerous. John Brennen who visited Saudi Arabia in his youth and found it wonderful appears to now fall short of protecting the U.S. from Islamic influence, and seems to want to play a role to ruin the Presidency of Donald Trump with Russian collusion, to me his comments expose the bias and almost seem subversive. Brennen thinks that Russia is the worse problem? The collusion in my mind is the purging of the national security to allow Islam and it’s political movement to bring sharia to replace the Constitution. Could it be that Russia now is Christian and to the left this is the terror? All countries spy on each other, and even attempt to influence elections in states such as the Ukraine…bringing down leaders and interference is not just Russia and really no one contacted me to vote for Trump, but the lack of protection against Islamic influence and sharia law promoted by the left sure did. I guess the left never read the 9/11 Commission Report before it was purged and the patriotic deplorables were smarter than they thought and so is President Trump. In my opinion and observation.
Marcy Watson says
Only problem I have is the term “Radical!” There is no radical or moderate Islam period. Islam Is the Problem.

Matthieu Baudin says
“… The Left, which has suddenly discovered a threat from Russia decades after the end of the Cold War…”
The thing that seems to fire up the militant left most concerning today’s Russia is the reluctance of the nations leadership, together with most of the civilian community, to embrace their fashionable obsessions for social transformation. In particular there exists extraordinary passion surrounding radical gender themes and the reluctance of the Kremlin and Orthodox Church to march in step with the radical agenda emanating from Western Europe and North America. So lost is the New Left in it’s fantasies that it fails time and again to get it’s priorities in order; nuclear weapons caps/reductions, halting/reversing the gains of militant Islam, life and limb human rights objectives, environmental standards – all these deserve higher priority but don’t get much attention from today’s fashionable left.
Tom S. says
Aligning non-Muslim nations in defense against Islam isn’t good enough. We should ally ourselves with Russia to create a Christian state in the Middle East, similar to the Jewish State that is Israel.
Antioch would encompass all of Lebanon and the western part of Syria north to the border with Turkey, 50 km in from the Med. Russia and the USA could do this for the >2 million Christians/year being displaced and violently oppressed by Muslims around the world.
Malcolm (South Afric) says
Turkey could be handed back to Christians, its been occupied for far to long.
gravenimage says
Very few Turkish Christians survive there. Most were wiped out in the Armenian Genocide.
Malcolm (South Afric) says
Quite right, still want it back.
gravenimage you have done good posts, keep up the good fight.
