He “was ordered released thanks to a court decision that ruled his previous convictions for assault and a host of other crimes weren’t serious enough to deport him.”
Now he has tried to murder a cop. Is that serious enough to deport him, or will another Leftist court inflict him upon the American public again?
An update on this story. “Court ruling freed refugee who’s now charged with attempted murder of cop,” by Stephen Dinan, Washington Times, August 6, 2018:
An Iraqi refugee now charged with attempted murder of a Colorado police officer was actually in ICE custody in 2016 but was ordered released thanks to a court decision that ruled his previous convictions for assault and a host of other crimes weren’t serious enough to deport him.
Authorities say Karrar Noaman al Khammasi, charged last week after what police say was a shootout with Colorado Springs officers, could have been ousted from the country during the Obama administration, but for a series of judges’ rulings that set him free to continue a five-year-long crime spree.
His arrest also raises tough questions about the refugee program at a time when the Trump administration is eyeing major new constraints on the number of people let in each year.
Mr. Khammasi was admitted to the U.S. in 2012 as a refugee from Iraq, according to a Homeland Security official.
His first criminal encounters began a year later and he’s totaled at least nine encounters with police, the Colorado Springs Gazette reported….

His welcome is justly rewarded with loads of work for lawyers, judges and civil right bleeding hearts. (all
which helps the taxpayer zero).
I just wish he could be simply hung in the market square. asap. (like two days)

Is there a threshold of crime that requires deportation? Surely, such criminals know the threshold. Why not just lower the threshold and then the system can use its best judgment if the detainee has shown evidence of true repentance. Otherwise, out the door. Who wants more trash? Not me.

I notice that in all of the articles on this, no reporter mentions the judicial history causing this to happen. No court, no judge is mentioned. I am not surprised at the result given the leftist demographics in the urban areas, but can only speculate now on the politics of the judge or judges responsible.

Do you know of any men who are not in need?
Was Jesus advocating welfare?

Flavius, FAR TOO MANY Christians forget that Jesus said, ‘BE WISE AS SERPENTS’. We need the wisdom to deal with JIHADISTS … the slipperiest of eels.

Important point, Flavius.
Muslims are always demanding that we not only give them money, but also roll over for every Islamic atrocity, or else we are not real Christians. They also try to do the same with the charitable secular impulse (derived from the Judeo-Christian, or course) in the West.
As you note, they are trying to use our own values to destroy us.
But our values are *not* a suicide pact.

Swami, I think Jihad Watch is still experiencing a few technical glitches–other posters have mentioned this, as well. And the whole site was down for several hours on Saturday.

This guy’s claim to ‘refugee status’ is that he is a habitual criminal and those people are dealt with harshly where he comes from.
Too bad. Cry me a river.
International refugee laws date from the 1950s.
The world is a very different place than it was in 1950. The number of migrants claiming to be refugees now numbers in the tens of millions, and may approach over a Billion people in a few decades.
The laws on the books make Western countries the unconditional guarantor of the welfare of anyone who makes a claim for ‘refugee status’, and must provide unlimited legal counsel for protracted lawsuits and appeals at state expense.
Those antiquated laws need to be abrogated.

Me too, Eduardo. We have the “slideshow” on the top of the home page back, as well as the Jihad Watch “moon and star” logo in the tab. The “Contact Us” box seems to back up and functioning again.
The only problem that seems to be ongoing is the first one–that I have to sign in again each time I post. A very minor problem in the scheme of things.

On the previous story about this creep, would-be murderer, my comment on the thread was precisely this: that this moslim had someone who worked on the side of moslims in order for this to happen.
Someone friendly to moslims, and moslim terrorists, moslim criminals, and moslim murderers seems to be in charge of this guy’s life.
So what will happen to him now? More probation?
The pattern is all too clear. If they are suddenly killing in mass murders, they have been tracked, known, on a list, etc. until the surveillance ends…and then the attack happens. If they attempt to murder a police officer or other authority as in this case, then their background is one of multiple crimes…and someone is working for their benefit so they aren’t stopped before killing or attempting to kill.

Colorado: Deportation of Muslim migrant who tried to kill cop was halted by court ruling
…………………….
More suicidal insanity. Will he finally be deported after serving his sentence *now*?

“Karrar Noaman Al Khammasi, 31, was ordered released from ICE custody in November 2016, after a 10th Circuit Court of Appeals decision invalidated the government’s grounds for his removal, a Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman said Monday.
That court found that how the government defines an “aggravated felony” — a deportable offense — was unconstitutionally vague.”
