Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Maajid Nawaz vs Tommy Robinson – a tale of two political prisoners

Aug 16, 2018 4:51 pm By Joshua Winston

Maajid Nawaz, as we all know, served time for his work with the designated terrorist organisation Hizb ut-Tahrir, which is so extreme that it is banned in many countries. Maajid, apparently, was a political prisoner in Egypt for promoting the establishment of a global caliphate. His lawyer, the darling of a lot of terrorist lawyers, was none other than London’s current mayor Sadiq Khan. Khan, as a lawyer, was almost like those ambulance chasers who chase after flashing red lights in an attempt to catch victims as they’re leaving the ambulances so that they can throw their business cards at them in a “no win, no fee” scenario. By all appearances, Khan’s clients were terrorists. He chased them as ardently as those others chased after ambulances. Perhaps there was more money in defending terrorists such as “Captain Hook” than there was in defending real victims.

Maajid’s views at the time were abhorrent, and he has since challenged and confronted the terrorist organisation that he was once a part of and promoted, and which still holds demos in London to this day. He has been a political prisoner for his point of view and his speech in a Muslim-majority land, and so it’s surprising to me that he isn’t doing more to promote and help Tommy Robinson, who is a political prisoner in a free land. Mr. Nawaz is, of course, not bound to do anything that his conscience tells him not to, but he’s currently duping the British public by trying to sell them a soft version of Islam. Surely he can see the publicity to be had by getting behind Tommy’s cause and uniting everyone, rather than dividing. We all live under the same legal system, after all (outside of those who adhere to the illegal sharia courts). Maajid, defender of the right to hold differing opinions, was also absent from Tommy’s Day of Freedom rally. Perhaps he wasn’t invited, or perhaps he had nothing to say on the matter. I was told that he would attend nothing that Tommy Robinson ever arranges; whether or not that is true, I don’t know, but the words were spoken to me with witnesses involved.

Tommy, of course, inadvertently and with no malice intended put girls who were victims of Muslim rape gangs at further risk by not listening to legal counsel and instead turning up at courthouses with a camera in order to report on the rapists. All very knee-jerk and unsophisticated stuff, but that does not merit the treatment he is currently receiving by speaking up about Muslim rape gangs. Maajid gets to point out the notoriously high percentage of Muslim rape gangs, and he is a saint. Tommy repeats the figures, and he is the devil himself.

What politics exactly are at play here? Maajid, as we all know, is the media’s darling, and Tommy is the villain. It’s like Batman vs the Joker. And the joke is simply that Tommy Robinson wants Muslim rape gangs to be disrupted and arrested, and he is demonised for it. Maajid, on LBC radio, has spoken out about the prevalence of Pakistani grooming gangs in the UK, but there’s much more he could be doing to be helping Mr. Robinson. Our police, government, and media seem to listen to Pakistanis more than they do to British people (going on the basis that British people would be assumed to be white, even although I know a lot of Brits are non-white, especially Maajid). At one point, Maajid stated that he had “beheaded the EDL” (very poor choice of words from a former extremist who runs an organisation named after the UK’s first Islamic extremist). Possibly his ignoring Mr. Robinson’s plight is his way of kicking that decapitated head around the floor.

Tommy Robinson was never an extremist. He created an organisation that opposed Anjem Choudary’s mob. He later disbanded it when he thought it was becoming too far right. Amnesty International came to Maajid’s aid when he was a prisoner of conscience. No one is coming to Tommy’s. He still has an upcoming court case, and the chances are likely that he’ll do more jail time. It seems political prisoners get treated better in lands where sharia dominates than they do in lands where the Rule of Law exists.

Good points. While much to be admired for his rejection of terror, Maajid has been a grave disappointment where defence of Tommy Robinson is concerned.

One correction. Tommy did not disband the EDL, he resigned from it.

Agreed, he has been a disappointment. However, the whole point of the article is that Maajid seems to be on the same side as Tommy and he at least has the potential to join forces. I personally believe that it is a matter of style and political capital that keeps Maajid back and my wife, who knows him personally, agrees on that.

I suspect if Maajid says anything not approved by LBC he will go the way of Katie Hopkins another truth teller. likewise Nigel Farage watches his back whilst broadcasting on LBC, as does Nick Ferrari. The rest are mostly left wing and on safe ground. Maajid has had ample opportunity to defend TR, and he hasn’t. Says a lot about him.

With all respect, RichardL, the point of this story is not that the dodgy Maajid Nawaz is apt to join Tommy Robinson, but how differently being imprisoned for Jihad terror is regarded compared to being imprisoned while being railroaded for peaceful political beliefs.

In a sane world the former would be serious, the other either minor or–better–not criminalized at all.

Masjid is basking in the limelight of the British Elites, while Tommy is just another British White Man, who will
NOT submit to the Elites & their New British Subjects, aka Muslim Pedophiles & Murderers of British Soldiers, who happen to be White & Christian.
I Pray that American So-Called Elites, do NOT fall into the same Trap that have turned Brit Elites into
Dhimmified Shills for Sharia, who would allow their Muslim Subjects
to wipe out every White British Subject, & never utter a word of Reproach.
We, in America, have the Democrat Party, aka known as the Party of Illegals, ISLAM, LGBTQ, ANTIFA (Black Bloc) & BLM, who hate the thought of America with White Citizens.
We need to give Tommy all the Help we can, because there will be thousands of Tommys in America, if the DEMS have their Power Restored.

@Walt Parkman…There’s a book that looks quite interesting by Jerry Brotton (professor of Renaissance studies at Queen Mary University of London). It was published as This Orient Isle in the UK:

THE SULTAN AND THE QUEEN: THE UNTOLD STORY OF ELIZABETH AND ISLAM
      https://www.chapters.indigo.ca/en-ca/books/the-sultan-and-the-queen/9780143110620-item.html?ikwid=Islam+Dismantled&ikwsec=Home&ikwidx=11

It seems Walsingham was the one who got this trading relationship in motion. An editorial review (near page bottom) reads:
“A lively, smart, exhaustively researched book… Traders, using the new-fangled concept of joint-stock companies to spread the commercial risk, shipped home everything from Oriental carpets and luxurious silks to sugar and saltpetre, essential in making gunpowder… Brotton delves into diaries, letters and archives to uncover a long-ignored part of English history. Trade was anything but smooth or orderly. English adventurers struggled to understand the cultures, rivalries and religious differences. (The term Muslim would not be used in England until 1614.) Pirates and shipwrecks were constant dangers, as was capture.”
      —Macleans

[2] “I was told that [Maajid Nawaz] would attend nothing that Tommy Robinson ever arranges; whether or not that is true, I don’t know, but the words were spoken to me with witnesses involved.” Spoken by Maajid?

[3] “Tommy … put girls who were victims of Muslim rape gangs at further risk by not listening to legal counsel and instead turning up at courthouses with a camera in order to report on the rapists.” How does this put victims at further risk? At further risk of what? Please detail your reasoning.

“Tommy, of course, inadvertently and with no malice intended put girls who were victims of Muslim rape gangs at further risk by not listening to legal counsel and instead turning up at courthouses with a camera in order to report on the rapists.”

I disagree. I don’t think the girls were at any greater risk than they were under an incompetent and negligent justice system. Remember, the Brit establishment did nothing for decades. Shining the light of truth on their major crime of neglect and silence was and is a patriotic and noble act that will bear positive fruits. How can a publication ban, after so many years of silence/neglect, ever be believed to be an act to protect the victims, rather than an act to protect the guilty?

    • StellaSaidSo says

      Aug 16, 2018 at 11:22 pm

I agree, Flavius. While Tommy’s actions may have shown carelessness of his own safety, they were no threat to the victims. Turning up at a court-house with a camera is the job of a reporter. It should be noted that the perps at Leeds Court were there for sentencing. Their guilt had already been established, so Tommy’s actions could no more have ‘influenced the trial outcome’ than the actions of the army of reporters outside the court when Rolf Harris was sentenced would have made a jot of difference in that case.

I can’t stand this type of thing coming from “sophisticates” like Melanie Philips, Douglas Murray, and the writer of this article, who give credence to a corrupt, Islamophilic UK government and legal system. To write that Tommy put the female victims of the rape gangs in further risk is Bollocks, to borrow a British phrase.

Tommy, in doing what any and all journalists are allowed to do (see other court cases where journalists videotaped outside the courtroom with no problem), put the victims of the rape gangs at further risk? If the UK government was at ALL concerned about the victims, they wouldn’t have ignored them for Years. It was guys like Tommy who forced them to Finally do something about the rapists, and they probably only did it to avoid further embarrassment, not to get justice. Bottom line, the UK government wants to shut down Islam critics, who are also critics of their sell out to islam. To them, Tommy is enemy number one, and to give them Any kind of credence is pathetic.

Good for you!! Terrific – and spot-on! – response to the well-intentioned, but somewhat misguided, author of this article!! And kudos for mentioning Melanie Phillips, whom I had long admired UNTIL I read her incredibly off-base article recently suggesting that Americans who were upset about the treatment of Robinson were actually doing him no favor, but should have “respected” the British rule of law – which, she claimed (as if it had been a capital murder case!), Robinson was guilty of violating and naive in the extreme, etc. etc. I couldn’t believe what I was reading!! Where was that REAL British ball of fire, Katie Hopkins when we needed her?!? Tommy seems to be the Rodney Dangerfield of British politics these days – he “can’t get no respect!!” And, as you so wisely have pointed out, the authorities should be up in arms about the rape/grooming gangs – and NOT the fact that someone was filming the EXTERIOR of the courthouse in which the perps were being tried!! If I live to be a gazillion, I’ll absolutely NEVER understand how the elites of Europe – and, of course, in this case, London – can have their heads so far up their respective asses regarding the true danger of Islam!

    • StellaSaidSo says

      Aug 17, 2018 at 2:42 am

It is not easy for any Muslim to publicly reject aspects of the Islamic ‘faith’ – and to become an apostate is to invite serious trouble. Maajid Nawaz has been the target of death threats since he first renounced terrorism. We need to encourage the ‘reformers’, however confused or misguided we think they are.

      • David, Thailand says

        Aug 17, 2018 at 4:58 am

It is irrelevant how confused or misguided ‘we’ think ‘they’ are, or for that matter what we think about anything to do with jihad. What’s important is what ‘they’ think, especially knowing how confused, misguided and ignorant of Islam we are, thanks in part to timid, ideologically compromised and purchased leaders, media and academia.

Deaths threats are easy enough to lie about or exaggerate or manufacture, though you appear to believe a Muslim renouncing ‘terrorism’ means he must be against what YOU view as terrorism, which as above is irrelevant. Meanwhile, in the real world, Sharia defines terrorism as the very existence of nonbelievers.

Quite simply, would you as leader of the free world jeopardise the future of your people on the word of a ‘reformed’ jihadist that wishes to rid the world of ‘terrorism’?

        • StellaSaidSo says

          Aug 17, 2018 at 5:21 am

I did not say that we should necessarily trust ‘reformers’, but that we should encourage them, along with any Muslim who questions Islam. Apostates are among our best allies. FYI, I am very familiar with ‘the real world’, in several countries, and don’t need ignorant punks like you to tell me what I think.

‘Equivocal’ maybe. I have said this a number of times in my comments on the internet, Tommy should be offered political refugee status by the US State Department. UK censorship laws are anathema to the US 1st Amendment. People are being jailed for speaking out about Islam by the internet police and under the guise of breaching the peace, where any annoyance of Muslims by questioning infidels is cause for arrest for the violator. The UK is headed down the slippery slope of dhimmi status, whereby the people are coming under the thumb of the Muslim community through their religious based demands, rigorously acted upon by British politicians. It’s time for the American people to stand up for the few people in this world that still hold similar values, Western values. The UK is a nice place to start.

    – my understanding is that mr. nawaz is trying to create/sell a “moderate” islam, presumably to replace the real thing with a “safe” version. usually, when one confronts violent criminals without a larger force of arms than they have, one will not only not succeed, one will be luck to survive. i don’t think islam without muhammed would work, and because he is the al-insan al-kamil (perfect man) and uswa hasana (model of conduct), it cannot change *except* he is removed. good luck with that, mr. nawaz.

Tommy Robinson got out of the EDL because it was being infiltrated by the British National Party (BNP) which if you care to read its manifesto is a far left group not far right as Mr Spencer claims. Robinson, when leader of the English Defence League (EDL) instituted a ban against anyone who was a member of the BNP but he eventually couldn’t stop it and left.

Maajid is a narcissist, both politically and sartorially, and his autobiography exposes him as a publicity seeking muslim who most definitely has not changed his spots. Beware taqiyya when dealing with this chancer.
