Robert Spencer: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Islamic Slavery

Aug 24, 2018 3:25 pm By Robert Spencer

My latest over at the Geller Report:

As far as NBA immortal Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is concerned, asking football players to stand for the National Anthem is tantamount to locking them in leg irons and enslaving them. But where is his concern for the actual slavery that still continues in many Islamic countries?

Abdul-Jabbar wrote in the Hollywood Reporter that “to the slave owners, singing slaves would drown out their own cruelty and oppression, clothe them in a coerced choir of decency. But it wasn’t enough that the slaves had to sing, they had to sing their oppressor’s feel-good songs that are summed up in the Porgy and Bess refrain of ‘I’ve got plenty of nothin’, and nothin’s plenty for me.’ Yay, nothin’. Currently, the song being demanded is the national anthem during football games.”

Comparing coddled, lionized, Leftist millionaire athletes with slaves forced to work in the fields in the scorching heat is obscene enough in itself, but Abdul-Jabbar looks even worse when one considers the fact that this famous, high profile convert to Islam has never said a word about the slavery that persists in the Islamic world.

Muhammad, the prophet of Islam, owned slaves, and slavery is taken for granted in the Qur’an. Throughout Islamic history, the great caliphates and other Islamic political entities were slave societies. In my new book The History of Jihad From Muhammad to ISIS, I show that even Muslim Spain, much-lauded today as a paradise of multicultural harmony, was a center of the Islamic slave trade.

In Islamic al-Andalus, Muslim buyers could purchase sex-slave girls as young as eleven years old, as well as slave boys for sex as well, or slave boys raised to become slave soldiers. Also for sale were eunuchs, useful for guarding harems. Blonde slaves seized in jihad raids on Christian nations north of al-Andalus were especially prized, and fetched high prices. Slave traders would use makeup to whiten the faces and dye to lighten the hair of darker slaves, so that they could get more money for them.

A twelfth-century witness of the sale of sex slaves described the market:

The merchant tells the slave girls to act in a coquettish manner with the old men and with the timid men among the potential buyers to make them crazy with desire. The merchant paints red the tips of the fingers of a white slave; he paints in gold those of a black slave; and he dresses them all in transparent clothes, the white female slaves in pink and the black ones in yellow and red.

If the girls did not cooperate, of course, they would be beaten or killed. The Andalusian slave market became particularly important in the eleventh century, when two of the other principal markets from which the Muslims drew slaves, Central Asia and southeastern Europe, dried up. The Slavs by this time had converted to Christianity and were no longer interested in selling their people as slaves to Islamic traders. In Central Asia, meanwhile, the Turks had converted to Islam. The primary market for slaves among Muslims was for non-Muslims, as enslaving fellow Muslims was considered a violation of the Qur’an’s requirement to be “merciful to one another” (48:29); hence Muslim slave traders had to look elsewhere for merchandise.

And what about today? Slavery persists in many Muslim countries in North Africa, notably Mauritania and Niger. Mauritanian human rights crusader Boubakar Messaoud asserted that in that country, people are born and bred as slaves: “A Mauritanian slave, whose parents and grandparents before him were slaves, doesn’t need chains. He has been brought up as a domesticated animal.” Messaoud explained: “It’s like having sheep or goats. If a woman is a slave, her descendants are slaves.”

Likewise in Niger, which formally abolished slavery only in 2003, slavery is a long-standing practice. Journalist and anti-slavery activist Souleymane Cisse explained that even Western colonial governments did nothing to halt the practice: “The colonial rulers preferred to ignore it because they wanted to co-operate with the aristocracy who kept these slaves.”

Islamic slavery has not been unknown even in the United States. When the Saudi national Homaidan Al-Turki was imprisoned for holding a woman as a slave in Colorado, he complained that “the state has criminalized these basic Muslim behaviors. Attacking traditional Muslim behaviors was the focal point of the prosecution.”

What does Kareem Abdul-Jabbar have to say about these “traditional Muslim behaviors”? Nothing? Now, why is that?

As far as the Left is concerned, the only form of slavery that ever existed was the trans-Atlantic one.

Islamic slavery? What’s that? I’ve only ever heard of islamic Golden Age of scientific prosperity and cultural tolerance. Also, did you know that muhammad was a feminist?

The trans-Atlantic slavery involved 20 million souls. The trans-Sahara slave trade involved 120 million people, mostly women and children used for sex. 80 million people died being dragged across the desert. Islamic countries today are holding 42 million slaves. Not a word from the Left because Islam is the “religion” of black and brown people’s.

And not just the trans-Atlantic slave trade, but only the American one.

Slavery in places like the Caribbean and Brazil is largely forgotten here–and Islamic slavery, despite its *continuing today*, is almost never mentioned.

I’m sufficiently senior to have actually learned about the Barbary pirates, along with the Crusades, when I was at school, in the days before the curtain of political correctness descended on the teaching of history. The brainwashing has been pervasive and thorough. Recently, I had the Mayor of a regional city tell me that ‘we’ must ‘atone’ for the Crusades.

I sure would like someone to be able to do a survey amongst the Washington elected and ask a few questions about Islam just to see if they know anything at all. Especially the slavery part but there is much more than the slavery part that should be told.

Say, “Kareem, how about if you bring some attention to the slavery going on in Mauritania, Sudan and Libya? I’m sure your prestige would bring more awareness to black Africans, especially women and children still being enslaved.”

A UAE couple brought two Indian women here to the US, took away their cell phones, they lived in an awful place, weren’t getting paid, etc. A judge ruled that they were slaves and awarded each woman $60,000 and the couple was deported. Should be on Google. There is still sex slavery and slavery or near slavery in the Arabian peninsula. Often you’ll hear “It’s their culture.”

Any Muslim is a confused human being but any black Muslim is an extra confused human being since Islam’s track record on black slavery is worse by far than the West’s track record on black slavery for the following reasons: 1) sheer volume—at least eight times (actually more like twelve times) as many black Africans were enslaved by Muslims than by Westerners; 2) Islamic black slavery started in the seventh century while Western black slavery only started in the fifteenth century; 3) Westerners did not castrate black male slaves while Muslims did so in voluminous numbers; 4) the West was the first civilization to realize the wrong of all slavery and thereafter took many steps to eradicate it while the Islamic world never on its own initiative took steps to end slavery, indeed it continues to this day in many Muslim lands; and 5) the West has profusely apologized for its role in the African slave trade while the Islamic world NEVER has.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (Lew Alcindor) is a monumental and profoundly ungracious fool. I have zero respect for the man. How can anyone who is possessed of sense and knowledge?

The “castration” that Islam practiced in their slave sent East was to remove the entire phallus. Because of the bleeding it caused, only some 30% of those slaves survived this practice.

Not only that, the women sent East who got pregnant had their babies killed, as were their young children (under 9 years) when they were captured.

The slaves destined for the West had no such practices since they had economic value to their purchasers. Only men were sent to Cuba and other sugar-producing places, and when they died under the harsh conditions there, usually after a few years, more men were brought in.

Gaddafi did apologize for the Arab slavery trade though a reason for that was political and forming a union with African states. Thus article by a Palestinian is interesting as the author attempts to connect Arabs with their African mothers and shared heritage in solidarity against Israel. It talks about the anti-black racism and slave trade and a website. There are a bunch of articles on Gaddafi apologizes for Arab slave trade. However, it’s light Arabs still enslaving them and imams justifying it with Islam and the Arabian peninsula, especially
Saudi Arabia had not apologized. (They don’t apologize about anything. They don’t even admit to ugly Islamic historical facts. )

An essay attempting to raise the status of Black Africans in the eyes of Arabs by reviewing slavery, pointing out that Arabs carry African DNA from captives(“Our enslaved African foremothers deserve to be honoured and loved by their Arab children”), and quoting the South Africa Ambassador’s anti-Israel screed while adding her own.

Somehow it’s doubtful that this essay will change any Arab Muslim’s mind since Muhammad made it clear that he did not considered blacks to be equal to Arabs in social life. Interestingly, he said Arabs must follow a Black Imam’s instructions – even if he is black. Muhammad made no statements that blacks are equal. That took Europeans, and later, Americans.

Blacks were far from the ONLY ones who suffered from slavery but for some odd reason whites found preoccupations other than professional “victimhood”. Perhaps KAJ just needs to read a wider range of sources.

As Robert Spencer writes above “Blonde slaves seized in jihad raids on Christian nations north of al-Andalus were especially prized, and fetched high prices.”
Raymond Ibrahim describes this centuries-old lust for blonde Western women in a recent article. The story is amazingly similar to what CONTINUES to go on today in the world of violent Islam with its vile justifications for evil exploitation of females in particular:

Blonde slaves seized in jihad raids on Christian nations north of al-Andalus were especially prized, and fetched high prices.

He also majored in history in college. However, he obviously felt basketball was a more suitable way for him to spend his time in his youth. He became a professional at what he did and I suppose for those who appreciate the zen of basketball he was an artist and if I were wanting to excel at basketball I would listen to what he says. But if I were wanting to excel in learning about the past and the ways I could apply its lessons to the future, I would look to someone other than a sports figure to sharpen my abilities. That seems to be a lesson he failed to learn and, therefore, is not passing along. It’s more fun and lucrative to play basketball …. and it’s easier to blame your lack of skills for doing anything else on a history you’ve decided wasn’t worth your time to study more closely. Although I do understand he was quite good at free throws.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is the usual utterly stupid black American who converted to Islam without studying or researching an iota about the very belief system started by the Arabs that caused the death and enslavement of about 140,000,000 Africans.

In this article, I want to enlighten hundreds of millions of people who are erroneously under the impression that the African Slave trade was the sole responsibility of the Christian Europeans, the White Race.

As usual with Arabs, Muslims and their apologists, this myth has been fostered and propagated by Arabs, Black Muslim Americans and Muslims in general to distract the attention of hundreds of millions of people around the world who have not researched the subjects concerned.

I too, before having made the effort of learning, exploring and studying these topics, was under exactly the same illusion; but I found remarkable books written by scholarly black Africans as well as others that truly opened my eyes to the discovery of another extremely successful GRAND DECEPTION perpetrated by Arabs and Muslims upon unsuspecting humanity.

Dear Americans, the success of Arabs and Muslims in deceiving, misinforming, deforming and contorting both history and reality over a period of almost 1400 years has been astounding; that is, until now.

The greatest tragedy about this particular subject is that most of the descendants of African slavery- the black people in the Americas, around the world as well as among the African blacks – are totally ignorant of the actual facts.

Ladies and gentlemen, the worst, most inhumane and most diabolical institution of the Black African Slave Trade, was initiated, refined, perpetrated and implemented by the Arabs to start with and later aided and abetted by the Black converts to Muhammadan Islam.

Slavery was NOT created by the White races, because it had existed throughout human history and practiced by every tribe, culture, civilization, racial group and religion.

In fact, the very word slavery has its root in the name SLAV based upon the Slavic peoples of Europe who were subjugated by other Europeans.

It is not common knowledge that the Arabic word ‘ABD’ is synonymous with the meaning of Slave; For example, Abd Allah means literally the Slave of Allah. In the language of the Arabs,

All Black Peoples are called ‘Abeed’ plural for ‘Slaves’.

While the European involvement in the African Trans -Atlantic slave trade to the Americas lasted for just over 300 years, the Arab involvement in the African slave trade has lasted 1400 years, and in some parts of the Muslim world is still continuing to this day.

The birth of Muhammadan Islam and the Arab conquests, brought about the inception of institutionalized,
systematized and religiously sanctioned slave trade, on an obscenely massive and global scale.

By the Middle Ages, the Arabic word “abd” was in general used to denote a Black slave while the word “mamluk” referred to a White slave.

Ibn Khaldun (1332 – 1406) the pre-eminent Arab medieval historian and social thinker wrote: “The Negro nations are as a rule submissive to slavery, because they have attributes that are quite similar to dumb animals.”

It should also be noted, that tens of thousands of black slaves were castrated “based on the assumption that the blacks had an ungovernable sexual appetite.”

It is estimated that the total number of African victims of the Trans Saharan and East African slave trade could be significantly higher than 140 million people.

While Christian Reformers spearheaded the anti-slavery abolitionist movements in Europe, North America and Great Britain mobilized her Navy, throughout most of the 19th Century, to intercept slave ships and set the captives free, there was not a single case of opposition whatsoever to slavery within the Muslim world.

I challenge any black American to prove me wrong

He’ll never learn what Fernadez-Morera has explained in The Myth of the Andalusian Paradise:

“The price of slave depended on his or her race, sex, age and abilities. WHITE SLAVES, ESPECIALLY BLOND ONES, were the most prized. In the year 912, during the “Islamic Golden Age” of the Umayyad Caliphate of Cordoba, the price for a male black slave was 200 dirhems of silver. A black girl from Nubia went for 300 dinears of gold. A white girl without education cost 1000 dinars of gold…..”

The original “Porgy” was Todd Duncan. 1) Porgy and Bess is a great work of art that highlights the humanity and nobility of the oppressed while emphasizing the injustice of it.

      2) Slave songs are also called the songs of the Underground Railway, since they are code messages of escape and freedom across ‘The River’ in Canada.

KAJ needs to take several courses of study to learn the history of music, the emancipation movement, the Civil War, the Republican Party and of course the 1400-year-long ISLAMIC SLAVE TRADE.

He is another old over the hill athlete with too much time and money on his hands. He made millions in America playing a kids game ,an America were he has given him freedom only because many fought and die to protect that freedom. The owners of the team these players are on are the employers of those players, they can set standards for behavior on the field. If you do not want to follow your employers instruction for behavior at work find other employment. It is not slavery to follow work standards of your employer ,if the standards offends you so find other employment. As the TV ratings for football tanks ,advertising revenue drops, and a lot of merchandising goes unsold in response to this unprofessional behavior of “professional” athletes in seasons to come maybe many will have to find other jobs that do not have the million dollar paycheck for playing a kids games. A game to keep the masses happy in this bread and circus world of professional sports. News alert most sports fans are not SJW ,this infantile behavior on the field does seat well and will cost the team owners money which will cost the employees money .That is how the real world works, that is logical thinking ,because this convert to the biggest illogical circle jerk religion on earth can not fathom the concept .

Same thing can be said of many superstars of Indian sports and Bollywood… Each prof athlete and movie superstar should actually be a the greatest patriot out there…such should be their gratitude towards their land and its great people.. the USA..It is only the RIGHT THINKING and ACTING people that has made the USA what it is today. GOD BLESS THE USA because as long as RIGHT THINKING FREEDOM AND FLAG LOVING USA exists, there is HOPE for the rest of the free-world. Take that away and the world is enveloped in perpetual darkness.

What profession football and basketball stars get paid in Moslem majority countries ,what freedom do non-Moslem enjoy in these lands of oppression? Slavery is still encourage in many Islamic lands to this day ,oppression of all women is still encourage and enforce in these countries .Would black Hollywood stars ,and athletes speak up about the atrocities committed in the name of Allah today in Africa? Islam the only major religion today that encourages slavery by it Holy books and actions of it leaders. America had a short period of slavery that lasted less the a hundred years after it was an formed as a nation ending it in the 1860s.Islam has a history of 1400 years and still practices it as a point of “faith” to this day ,never condemning it.

Group singing would have made their work more bearable and productive. Adding hymns would have also given great comfort. Many blacks have had a very deep faith that carried them through.

Putting aside its enormous cruelty, just think about how ISLAM would not even ALLOW one to sing. This cozy snake may seem to signal brotherhood, change and power to people who feel their culture has proven to be a dud for them – but Islam is built on sand and fear and once you dig you’ll see it fall.

Slavery is a heinous part of Islam is a topic that the apologists for that religion don’t like have people bring up .Nevertheless one writer revealed that “The senior clerics of Saudi Arabia’s highest body declared “Slavery is part of Islam and whoever wants it abolished is an infidel.” [1] Likewise, a former Muslim had exposed in his book that “Slavery is recognized as an institution and slave is considered both a thing as a person.” [2] In addition, two Christian writers in their book had also informs their readers that “Islam has enslaved more people than any other culture.” [3] Therefore Islam regardless of what the apologist for this religion do claim has not regard for human rights

On the topic of the real spirit of Islam toward black people, two Christians who are also authors revealed in the book about the prophet and founder of Islam, Muhammad, the person who all Muslims greatly admire and view and a perfect example for them to emulate was man that “He personally owned two ‘black slave…he endorsed sex slavery as a gift from Allah.. In the every next page of that same book I also informs the reader that “Islam had enslaved more people than any other culture.” [1]
Likewise , a scholar on Islam who is an Arab woman and speakers and reads Arabic and uses to live in one the those countries on the Middle East had exposes in her book that the prophet of Islam ,Muhammad referred to Blacks as “ ‘raisin heads’ several time in the hadith [1:663:9:256]”Her book also reveals that “Throughout the hadith blacks are also referred to as abeds, which means ‘black in Arabic and is also synonymous with the word “slave’ and filth.” In fact ,Arab Muslims have enslaved blacks for 1,400 years and the Black slave trade iss till thriving in Sudan and Mauritania.” Further in her same book the author reveals that “Most interesting, though, is the even though black slavery by Muslims began long ago , almost no descends of those slaves are alive today in the Muslim world. Why is there no black culture in the Middle East ? Most slaves were either killed or died from being worked to death.” [2]

American black Muslim converts are some of the dumbest and most gullible fools one will ever encounter.

These naive twits ignore Islam’s major role in the African slave trade (and, its role in contemporary slave and sex trades) swallowing hook, line and sinker the ideology’s pretense to racial unity and harmony (all occurring under the bootheel of Islamic supremacy and totalitarianism, naturally).

Islam took about 125Million into slavery. As far as I know about 85% of the males that were castrated did not survive the process. The last Slave Market to be FORCED to close down was in Saudi Arabia in 1961! Apparently they’ve reopened in Mauritania & Libya. Some documentary makers actually participated in an auction buying female sex slaves & liberating them! It’s long overdue for the Free World to wake up to this mess before it’s too late.

Get yourself a great little reference, Slavery, Terrorism and Islam by Peter Hammond. It’s not very well put together. No index. (A capital crime) But it’s one of the books I refer to the most for some reason. Especially when it comes to Islamic slavery. You’ll kick yourself for not having this book already.

I’ve got a few other books on Islamic slavery but haven’t the time to post them right now.

200,000 is the estimated of all deaths during the crusades according to sources this includes all crusades, there were nine of them for those of you who did not know this, sources include such as the encyclopedia Britannica, history rocket etcetera, number of deaths caused by the religion of peace, Islam 290 MILLION PLUS, these are documented cases starting as early as AD 30 and up to 2012. And the number goes higher every day. anyone who calls someone Islamophobic only shows the ignorance of themselves and proves they have refused to look at the truth, indoctrination and mind control of todays youth and todays elderly through the use of the education system and the media is staggering and dangerously frightening. Liberal judges who think these people do not understand what they are doing wrong are lying to us and to them selves, these people have lied through out history to further their cause. READ A BOOK

I haven’t received Robert’s History of Jihad yet but am sure that he’ll be covering
“History’s Most Consequential Muslim/Western Clash” which is THE BATTLE OF YARMUK.

Yarmuk is a river to the southeast of the Sea of Galilee. The loss of this battle opened the way to the defeat of much of Christendom in the Middle East and Africa.

Once again Raymond Ibrahim writes a fascinating article showing we should NOT underestimate brutal Islam or expect any change from it:
