Australian Senator Pauline Hanson “slammed feminists as ‘pathetic’ for not supporting a ban on the burqa.”
The burqa has been banned in various countries on security grounds, or because it is inconsistent with Western values; sometimes it’s banned for both reasons. These countries have banned the burqa: France, Austria, Denmark, Belgium, Netherlands, Bulgaria, China, Tajikistan, Morocco, Latvia, Cameroon, Chad, Congo-Brazzaville, and Gabon.
Pauline Hanson amassed a petition in Australia “of more than 23,300 names” in support for a call to immediately ban the burqa and niqab. She referred to these garments as “confrontational and intimidating”
She added:
In a society we want to feel inclusive, yet these women are covering up fully when they go swimming. My suggestion is: Australia’s not for you.
Hanson is no stranger to controversy and to defending Australian values, rule and order. After a 9-year-old girl’s recent refused to stand for the Australian national anthem at school, Hanson stated that the girl deserves “a kick up the backside” and to be expelled.
Last year Hanson “wore a burqa into the Senate chamber” to illustrate its absurdity.
“Pauline Hanson has slammed feminists in parliament who don’t support a burqa ban,” by Gavin Fernand, News.com.au, September 13, 2018:
PAULINE Hanson has slammed feminists as “pathetic” for not supporting a ban on the burqa.
Speaking on Today this morning, the One Nation leader suggested feminists in parliament who didn’t oppose the burqa were hypocrites.
“Here they are standing up for women’s rights, but there a lot of women who are forced to wear the burqa by their male counterparts,” Senator Hanson said.
“Now I’m sure that there’s the lot and they’ve actually said it in programs that I’ve watched … there’s a lot of women who have said that they want to move away from the ideology of Islam and it really is.
“Free these women. They fought to get their vote in this country — one of the first countries in the world to actually give the vote — and women are moving forward, they’re fighting for equality, they’re fighting for equal wages — and yet you’re quite prepared to see a woman get around fully clothed with this burqa, and even when they’re swimming. It’s ridiculous, it’s beyond me.”
Senator Hanson said she was putting up the motion to test where Prime Minister Scott Morrison stood on the issue.
According to The Australian, she has amassed a petition of more than 23,300 names in support for a call to immediately ban the “wearing of the Islamic headdress, the niqab and burka” because they are “confrontational and intimidating”.
“In a society we want to feel inclusive, yet these women are covering up fully when they go swimming. My suggestion is: Australia’s not for you,” she said. “They’ve made themselves basically unemployable.
“They come out here and wear that. Do they ever apply for jobs? I couldn’t possibly put one on if I had my takeaway shop around the gas cookers and burners.”
Senator Hanson has long been a vocal critic of the burqa, and what she calls the “ideology of Islam”……

Well HOORAY! I hope she gets more votes.

Be interesting to hear Pauline Hanson’s view on Nigel Farage’s support of Islam seeing how Farage has just visited Australia.
Pauline Hanson is a great Lady.

Well said, Pauline!
All forms of the Islamic head-bag should be banned in all civilised countries.
revereridesagain says
The Muslim conquerors certainly thought nothing of telling the dhimmis under their heels what to wear. A little turnabout fair play here with the message that no, you can’t force your ideology and the sharia on us in any way, shape (or shapeless) or form.
StellaSaidSo says
Exactly. But with Islam it’s ‘We’ll do what we like; and you’ll do what we like as well’.
We made a big mistake when we let them get away with their Halal slaughter. Give an inch…

Good post, Peter. The ‘Advance Australia Fair’ anecdote is illustrative of Pauline’s willingness to call out b/s when she sees it. She can certainly be confrontational – but look at what she is up against. We need at least another dozen of her in Canberra!
Berengaria says
Thank You to Senator Pauline Hanson in Australia, this woman is my kind of Senator.
BTW, her Views that ISLAM is An IDEOLOGY & an Ideology that is an Antithesist of Western Values, is Correct.
A Mosque is NOT A CHURCH, it is an Islamic Fortress, complete with Armory, Indoctrination “School”, Halal Cafeteria & always Fronted with a Small Area For Prayers & Blood Sacrifices.
Our own US Feminazis are in complete agreement with Islamist Ideology & they were one of the First Leftist Groups to approve of the ODIOUS BURQA/BURKA.
So Senator Hanson, Keep up the Good Fight against the Barbaric ISLAM.
Paul says
Not at all surprising that they wouldn’t be supportive of such a ban.
So true to form.

The femimists don’t support a burka ban because they are conflicted in that they are only willing to demonstratte or make demands when there is no risk of physical reprisal. They know that the non-Muslim men will tolerate them but have no such sense of safety with Muslim men if demanding something that will affect the personal and family lives of Muslims. They won’t say what they really believe for fear of being regarded as “racists”, so, they do nothing.
mortimer says
Senator Hanson rightly calls out the “ideology of Islam”.
Islam is a POLITICAL SYSTEM of GOVERNANCE imposed through AGGRESSIVE ‘STRUGGLE’ or ‘JIHAD’ … any action that OVERCOMES THE RESISTANCE TO ISLAM of dirty KAFIRS.
The MAIN FEATURE of Islamic IDEOLOGY is the CENTRAL DOCTRINE OF HATRED and APARTHEID called ‘AL WALL WAL BARAA’.
Anyone who has not mastered the DOCTRINE OF ‘AL WALL WAL BARAA’ does NOT understand Islam. They are GUESSING. Are you guessing?

It’s the POLITICAL IDEOLOGY of Islam, stupid.

This is Australia. Where we still have some backbone. Including our politicians. Though they’re becoming more & more difficult to find. Meanwhile. No one takes feminists seriously in this country. Not whilst they continue to march in solidarity with misogynistic & racist Islam.

Unfortunately the gutless wonders in Federal Parliament did not support her motion. She only received 4 votes for the motion and 34 or 35 aqainst.
Why am I not surprised?

Burqua: Another name for the BURIAL SHROUD of Western, Judeo-Christian values, standards, and all that our ancestors gave of their blood, sweat and tears to accomplish.
Giacomo Latta says
While what Hansen is saying is true, unfortunately it is a red herring. Islam is what must be banned, not the burqa or hijab. You want to stop muslimas from wearing the burqa but as for muslimas, and later all women, being beaten whenever some smelly muslim is afraid they won’t put out, no comment?!?
StellaSaidSo says
In an ideal world, GL, there would be no Islam. We have to be realistic, however. Eliminating Islam will take time; we can ban the burqa et var. forthwith. The pushback has to begin somewhere.

It’s a step in the right direction.
Carolyne says
Sen. Hanson is doing this at risk of her life. I admire her and her bravery very much. I note the UK is not on the list of sensible countries. When one walks through Kensington Gardens and sees these creatures who look like giant menacing black crows, one wants to leave the UK and never return. And that is exactly what I have done. I will never go back there.
StellaSaidSo says
I hear you, Carolyne. It is heart-breaking. The last time I was in London I thought I had landed in Lahore by mistake. Hope you are settling in well to your new home!
Lisa Nichols says
Why are these countries forcing women to dress in a different culture that’s not thier own? That’s so wrong. Then make women feel bad because they don’t want to subject themselves over to some other cultures way of life. I don’t think that’s right. Shame in her. Women of all walks of life need to stand strong and voice how they feel. Don’t submit to anything you are not comfortable with.
StellaSaidSo says
It isn’t complicated. If you’re not willing to conform to the rules and customs of your host country, then go back where you came from.
Besides, most of the women who wear the burka or the niqab have no choice. Their families and communities make the decision for them. In the West, these women have the opportunity to be free of these oppressive garments.
In Iran earlier this year, women who publicly removed their head-bags were sent to prison.

Pauline Hanson is right to point out the rank hypocrisy of the feminists who seem to always be silent on issues involving Muslims, whether it is the disgusting burqa, female genital mutilation, child brides, etc. I believe that a lot of these western feminists have one set of rules for western, white people and, because Muslims are mostly dark skinned people from third world countries, another set of rules apply and they give Muslims a free ride. It’s part of the left’s hatred of the west as supposed nasty colonisers, etc, so they give a pass to barbaric customs from Muslim countries. Also, no doubt, they are afraid of criticising Muslims because they may cop a violent backlash. I’m sure the way some feminists would wheedle their way out is to say Muslim women choose freely to wear the revolting burqa, so it’s a feminist, empowering choice. I’m sure I’ve heard such comments out here in Australia, ( back when Hanson wore the burqa into the Senate) but can’t recall exactly who made them. Such garbage. The burqa is a clear security risk and as if oppressed Muslim women would have a choice about whether to wear it or not if their master (husband, father) demands that they wear it. There should be more politicians speaking up like Hanson. Many European countries have banned the burqa. I was wondering if the USA is going to ban it. I always think of the USA as pretty strong, pretty tough and it seems to me that the USA would be likely to ban the foul garment. I would have expected the USA to ban it before these European countries that have gone ahead and done so.

Pauline Hanson unleashed an hysterical witch hunt against Asians then Aboriginals she then targeted Africans and demonized female victims of domestic violence and last but not least Muslims and Islam ( of which she is completely clueless on ) to advance her political career. She exploits the public’s fear for her own personal gain– driven by power and money Hanson just goes with whatever is popular with the public at the time– whatever works best to garner support for her fledgling One Notion Party. Hanson is a political farce, not force, she merely states the obvious and can only offer slogans, not solutions, nothing she says has any substance and rarely makes any sense. Hansons tiny group of staunch supporters have sadly mistaken her stupidity and ignorance for courage, she is neither smart nor articulate –
How fortunate for Hanson that intelligence and education is no longer a requirement to enter Australian politics which has become an absolute joke– with a relatively small population of 25 million people Australia is one of the most over-governed countries in the world with the highest paid leader– raking in over $540,000 plus a year, key Political appointments which are neither earned nor deserved are simply handed down as gifts, there has been a revolving door of 7 unelected Prime Ministers in just 11 years and the vast majority of Politicians have been bestowed with the title of Senator.
When Prime Minister at the time Malcolm Turnbull called a double dissolution it lowered the quota for senators to be elected which enabled Hansons One Notion Party to gain more than just a foot in the door. It is a well known fact that Pauline Hansons maiden speech to Parliament was given a complete overhaul to cover up her ignorant, idiotic views and simplistic, stupid policies which would never be implemented. Hanson loves nothing more than stirring up trouble, it’s what she does best, she thrives on media attention, her outrageous highly embarrassing burqa stunt just demonstrated the absurdity that she is. Hansons petition to ban the Burka is nothing new as it has been done many times before by members of the public that started more than 6 years ago but the petitions that amassed many more signatures failed to introduce a burqa ban.
Hanson just repeats everything that has been said and done before by members of the public and other sources yet she still likes to pretend that they were her own ideas . Pauline Hanson: Text slabs from One Nation party policies lifted from internet, including Wikipedia—-http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-07-11/pauline-hanson-sections-of-party-policies-lifted-from-internet/7587652–Hanson is just a waste of space and tax-payer money.
Hansons stupidity is mindblowing—while on the campaign trail she asked a cameraman if he was a Muslim refugee and when he answered that he was aboriginal, the lunatic congratulated him on holding down a job. Several years ago Hanson wrote a book in which she claimed Aboriginals were cannibals that ate their own babies and said that Australia’s prime-minister in 2050 would be a “lesbian cyborg”. She also made a video in which she said—” Fellow Australians if you are seeing me now I have been murdered, don’t let my passing distract you for a moment ” Hanson provides us with the laughs if nothing else, she has missed her true calling–as a comedian.
While she was in prison Hanson befriended a child murderer and helped the monster lodge an appeal to have her released back into the community– The child killer along with her husband had lured the young girl to their car under the pretense of looking for a lost dog, then dragged her into the car and drove to bushland where she was raped, tortured, stabbed and strangled . Hansons friendship and support of the child killer enraged the family and the public. In response Hanson arrogantly declared that she would not be apologizing for befriending her and Instead of standing up for victims of domestic violence Hanson has repeatedly claimed most women seeking domestic violence orders are doing so for “frivolous” reasons which needless to say caused public outrage. Hanson deserves condemnation and ridicule not more media attention and accolades.
