The West continues to import abusive practices that are committed in the name of Islam. Wife-beating (Quran 4:34), covering of women (Quran 24:31, 33:59), sex slavery (Quran 33:50) and FGM (Reliance of the Traveller e4.3) are all sanctioned Islamic practices, not to mention receiving the short end of the stick in divorce and inheritance cases. Despite such abuses, the U.K. has yielded to a two tier system to include shariah courts and has curbed free speech to not offend Muslims.
Western leaders continue their willful blindness, despite grim realities:
Girls are being pressured to undergo female genital mutilation (FGM) in British playgrounds, a survivor has warned…..Dr Leyla Hussein, who underwent the procedure when she was seven years old in Somalia, said pressure was being put on children by their peers as well as relatives.
Western nations should have long ago established a zero tolerance policy for any practice that is inconsistent with its principles. This includes banning the niqab — which is a security threat — and rejecting encroachments on the freedom of speech. Instead, a zero tolerance policy is aimed at those who call out Islamic abuses against girls, women, infidels, apostates, etc. Now, to attempt to deal with the problem:
Officers and social workers have been stationed at British and American airports, and on the Eurostar this week as part of a transatlantic operation to prevent families taking children abroad for FGM and help survivors.
This transatlantic operation is to be applauded, but the full range of other abuses that are being committed in the name of Islam also needs to be recognized, called out and opposed.
“Authorities launch operations at UK and US airports in transatlantic operation to catch perpetrators and help victims,” by Lizzie Dearden, Independent, September 6, 2018:
Girls are being pressured to undergo female genital mutilation (FGM) in British playgrounds, a survivor has warned amid an international crackdown on the practice.
Dr Leyla Hussein, who underwent the procedure when she was seven years old in Somalia, said pressure was being put on children by their peers as well as relatives.
“Some of my clients are 19-year-old girls who were children or were born in this country, and they will say they were pressured in a playground in a school in London to go and have it done,” she added, urging people in affected communities to confront the idea of FGM as a “tradition”.
“We really have to be forceful in protecting children, and unfortunately I will be upsetting people but I personally don’t care if I’m going to upset some community leader….we cannot tiptoe around it.”
Officers and social workers have been stationed at British and American airports, and on the Eurostar this week as part of a transatlantic operation to prevent families taking children abroad for FGM and help survivors.
An estimated 500 people were spoken to at Heathrow Airport on Thursday alone after arriving on flights from countries where the practice is prevalent, and similar operations are taking place at Gatwick, Manchester and Luton.
The operation, codenamed Limelight, has also been carried out at New York’s JFK Airiport after American authorities signed a “proclamation of interagency support” for FGM investigations with the UK.
Operation Limelight: The FGM unit operating in Heathrow Airport to intercept families taking their children to be mutiliated
Signatories including the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC), Metropolitan Police, Border Force, Crown Prosecution Service, British Transport Police, FBI, and the US Department of Homeland Security.Officials hope to enhance their understanding of FGM and improve the law enforcement response by sharing intelligence on travel patterns, trends and live cases.
Leethen Bartholomew, head of the National FGM Centre, said the crime must be recognised as child abuse and a human rights violation.
“Our work with law enforcement agencies on Operation Limelight, both from the UK and the US, is raising awareness that this practice is illegal in the UK and that it is against the law to take a girl overseas to be cut,” he added.
“Our focus is engaging with passengers travelling to and from countries where this crime is carried out. By talking to them we hope to educate families as well as highlighting the support available to those who may be at risk.
“We hope the high profile nature of the operation will dissuade anyone who may be considering having FGM carried out.”
The Independent attended a previous Operation Limelight sweep at Heathrow in January, when a survivor who underwent FGM in Sierra Leone was among the air passengers stopped.
“It was painful, so painful, there was blood everywhere,” she recalled. “There were other people watching in the room. They were singing their own songs. They were happy when they were cutting me.”
She said her family believed FGM was “decency”, adding: “When you’re with your man you are clean if you do that, that’s the mentality.”…

Welcome news, but more work needs to be done in schools. And the Muslim doctors practising in the high street who make a quid on the side from FGM need to be identified, charged, and struck off.
bob kelly says
this is another ploy by the uk government, after all these years they have never charged anyone with carrying out FGM . this is just smoke and mirrors like their are going to do something about it . B S

How can any rational person condone the barbaric and heinous practice of FGM. Those who do are no better than animals. FGM has nothing to do religion.
StellaSaidSo says
FGM has everything to do with the ‘religion’ of Islam. Mohammed himself opines in some detail on the matter in the Hadith.
Peter Buckley says
Slowly but surely, almost imperceptibly, many tenets/ facets of Islam are being outlawed, including muslim countries . Muhammad reportedly said there would be “believers” WITH NOT A TRACE OF ISLAM:
There will appear in this nation….. a group of people so pious apparently that you will consider your prayers inferior to their prayers, but they will recite the Quran, the teachings of which will not go beyond their throats and will go out of their religion as an arrow darts through the game, whereupon the archer may look at his arrow, its Nasl at its Risaf and its Fuqa to see whether it is blood-stained or not (i.e. they will have not even a trace of Islam in them). In other words, there may be a lot of “muslims”, but, it would seem, less Islam:

Everytime I go to the airport in Minneapolis I see a 7 or 8 year old girl with a Somali woman in Islamic dress ushering her, everyone knows what they are doing, nothing can stop it, it is their culture and I would guess that the majority of the girls born into these families are brought back to Africa for the procedure, it is actually big business for the airlines and I cannot imagine the airports and airlines would want this practice to ever end because it means dollars.
I see nothing wrong with it either as long as Muslims are being allowed to practice Islam and live in our countries. Right now the left is imagining they can keep the Somali to fill their welfare programs so leftists politicians and community organizers can continue to see pay raises, at the same time they want them to stop being Somali?
I am not for this practice in the world but as long as you have Muslims they will do it, the answer is not to prosecute the clitoris cutters but Islam itself needs to be an abhorred thing, centers of Islamic worship cannot be allowed to be established, the Muslim priests need to be banned, immigration from the Islamic world must end, all that must happen before you can expect any end to the cutting of these girl’s clitori.
revereridesagain says
All that is true, but we need to prosecute the “clitoris cutters” while waiting for the rest of it to occur. Slicing up a little girl with no anesthesia to make her incapable of sexual pleasure — or even worse mutilation that will make normal excretion an ordeal and birth life-threatening — and therefore “safe” for the wretched male creature that is the Muslim “man” must be stopped as “Sati” was stopped in India even though other human abuses such as the caste system remain.
Cicero says
revererides again why do you drag the now defunct practice of Sati in Hindu society and make it the equivalent of barbaric islamic practices which are still current and contempotaneous ?
Also why in the same breath do you allude to the phenomenon of caste in Hindu society and say it still reains therein ? What are you triying to get at ?
Do you have knowledge of sati ? Do you know its origins ? Are you aware of the links between sati in Hindu society and the behaviour towards Hindu women and girls by Islamic invaders in India?
Also do you know the origins of the caste system in India ? Do you know the origins of the coinage of the word caste ? The word caste comes from the Portuguese word “casta’ and refers to various levels of classes. The class system still exists in the west. The caste system is outlawed in India.
When the European invaders landed on the soil of mother India the observed the excellent organization of a well ordered society. This order depended on everyone playing a role in the running of society. The organization was along the lines of the occupations of the citizens – carpenters, shopkeepers, street cleners, goldsmiths, lawyers, priests, farmers etc etc . It Was traditionally known by the Indians as jati or gotra. Skills were passed down from parents to children .
In the Bhagavatam Geetha Krishna alluded to the broad categories Brahma, Kshatriya ,Vaisya and Sudra. All beings performed thees roles at different points in their lives.
But of course reverend revere please do not let the matter of a little knowledge get in the way of you scoring cheap points against Hindu Dharma. Why do Western / Christian religionists hate Hinduism so ?

They actually don’t always travel to do this. I have a Somali friend who has confided that they have women who travel around the U.S. doing the procedure at various mosques. She said she remembers when they did one a couple of years ago in majors cities in the western US. She said they try to do it in the spring right after school lets out so the girls will have healed up by fall when school starts again. They don’t want the school nurses to figure out something just happened.

I have heard similar reports of travelling FGM ‘practitioners’ in Australia. Some Muslim doctors will oblige, too, for discreet cash payments. I don’t know how we can put a stop to this barbarism without conducting intimate inspections of vulnerable girls.

Muslims have no right to reside in our civilized countries and practice barbarism.
Walter Sieruk says
It’s a good thing that the American and British authorities ,at the airports are finally doing their job by taking some kind of action against cruel and vicious Islamic evil of F.G.M.
In addition on the subject of the cruel, brutal and vicious Islamic tradition of female butchery which some Muslims so inappropriately call “female circumcision.” This heinous Islamic custom of misogyny has been exposed in the book by Brigitte Gabriel which is entitled THEY MUST BE STOPPED. For on page 178 it reveals to the reader that “One of the most devastating practices to young girls of the Islamic world is female genital mutilation. Young girls have their clitoris removed without anesthesia…”
Indeed, they must be stopped !
Ragdoll says
All well and good, but can we please know what the authorities are doing about those muslims who carry out FGM *in this country*?
Still not one conviction to date and only a handful of half-arsed prosecutions. It’s not good enough.
gravenimage says
Damn good question.
Neil Ross says
Sounds good in theory, but UK anti-discrimination law means that police at airports won’t be able to use any racial or gender profiling. They will spend most of their time interrogating white British old age pensioners travelling to their time-share apartments in Lanzarote. More airport delays and confusion. Absolutely no action to protect the children at risk.
James Lincoln says
At least for the United States…
According to the State Department website, sending or attempting to send a girl under the age of 18 outside of the United States so that FMG can be performed is a violation of federal law. Lots of other important related information included on the website:

If the government was serious, there would be annual examinations of girls in all schools. When one was found to be mutilated, the father and mother get deported.
Or, when a girl is found to be mutilated, the head of the penis of the father, just the top inch, should be removed without anesthetic. He also would then feel no pleasure from the sexual act. If the father is not available, the next oldest male family member should be shortened in his place.
What marvelous opportunities would be created for family sharing in this famous Islamic custom. Implement that and the problem would disappear instantly.
Laurie says
Bear Tom, I agree

…………………..
This is good–but I’m not sure how many girls it will actually protect.
The real problem is that there is no prosecution for this horrible crime.
StellaSaidSo says
There have been prosecutions, but not enough of them, and few result in what we would consider appropriate punishment.
