I wrote my new book The History of Jihad From Muhammad to ISIS mostly chronologically, starting with Muhammad’s conquests in Arabia and moving forward. It’s a bloody history, and one indelible impression one gets from proceeding through the centuries of jihad warfare is of the persistence of the jihadis. They never give up, they never give in, and they never take any setback, no matter how devastating, as decisive. They keep coming, and have kept coming at non-Muslims, from Spain to India and elsewhere, as I show in the book, without respite, without reprieve, without reform.
The last chapter of The History of Jihad From Muhammad to ISIS deals with jihad in the twenty-first century, and opens with 9/11. After having written the story of nearly fourteen hundred years of relentless jihad warfare, George W. Bush’s “Islam is peace” speech at the Islamic Center of Washington, D.C. six days after 9/11 jolted me as it never had previously. Reading Bush’s speech after going through the details of fourteen centuries of jihad against non-Muslims made the speech appear much more startlingly fatuous and self-defeating than it already had even to me. Bush’s suicidal willful ignorance, coming after so much jihad warfare, so many ruined lives, so much bloodshed — it hit me with a wallop.
This book establishes definitively why the West’s entire approach to the global jihad threat since 9/11 has been so wrongheaded and is leading us to political, cultural, and societal disaster. I’ve been trying to sound the alarm on this for many years now, while the moneyed forces of the “Islamophobia” hysteria industry have won the day and marginalized those of us who have been telling the truth about what is happening. The History of Jihad From Muhammad to ISIS is my last effort to try to show people the nature and magnitude of the threat we face. Bush’s speech is just one of many missteps and mistakes made by leaders throughout history when faced with the jihad force. My hope is that if this history is more widely known, and those missteps and mistakes highlighted and explained, maybe some people will wake up to what is happening before it is too late.
Preorder The History of Jihad From Muhammad to ISIS here now.
On September 17, 2001, U.S. President George W. Bush appeared at the Islamic Center of Washington, D.C., in the company of several prominent Muslim leaders, and said:
These acts of violence against innocents violate the fundamental tenets of the Islamic faith. And it’s important for my fellow Americans to understand that.
The English translation is not as eloquent as the original Arabic, but let me quote from the Koran, itself: In the long run, evil in the extreme will be the end of those who do evil. For that they rejected the signs of Allah and held them up to ridicule.
The face of terror is not the true faith of Islam. That’s not what Islam is all about. Islam is peace. These terrorists don’t represent peace. They represent evil and war.
When we think of Islam we think of a faith that brings comfort to a billion people around the world. Billions of people find comfort and solace and peace. And that’s made brothers and sisters out of every race—out of every race.
As Americans still searched the smoking ruins of the World Trade Center for the remains of their loved ones, President Bush cautioned Americans against thinking ill of Muslims, as if the 9/11 attacks had been perpetrated by Americans targeting Muslims:
America counts millions of Muslims amongst our citizens, and Muslims make an incredibly valuable contribution to our country. Muslims are doctors, lawyers, law professors, members of the military, entrepreneurs, shopkeepers, moms and dads. And they need to be treated with respect. In our anger and emotion, our fellow Americans must treat each other with respect.
Women who cover their heads in this country must feel comfortable going outside their homes. Moms who wear cover must be not intimidated in America. That’s not the America I know. That’s not the America I value.
I’ve been told that some fear to leave; some don’t want to go shopping for their families; some don’t want to go about their ordinary daily routines because, by wearing cover, they’re afraid they’ll be intimidated. That should not and that will not stand in America.
Those who feel like they can intimidate our fellow citizens to take out their anger don’t represent the best of America, they represent the worst of humankind, and they should be ashamed of that kind of behavior.
This is a great country. It’s a great country because we share the same values of respect and dignity and human worth. And it is my honor to be meeting with leaders who feel just the same way I do. They’re outraged, they’re sad. They love America just as much as I do.
Muslims were not being subjected to wholesale vigilante attacks in the United States, at that time or at any point subsequently. This speech was an exercise in vassalage that would have made the late-fourteenth- and early-fifteenth-century Byzantine emperors ashamed, yet Bush was by no means alone. Political leaders all over the West echoed his words about Islam’s being a religion of peace, having nothing to do with terrorism. After September 11, this became a commonplace of the Western political discourse, rejected only by a small minority, who were quickly stigmatized as cranks.
All these years later, it is clear: Bush’s speech set the pattern. After every jihad attack, non-Muslim leaders have followed his example, making it their highest priority to affirm that Islam is peace and that Muslims are victims. Bush deformed the West’s response to the resurgent jihad, and poisoned the public discourse so that attempts to discuss this problem honestly are consigned to the realms of “Islamophobia” and condemned by all right-thinking people.
This could be Bush’s most enduring, and most damaging, legacy. Order The History of Jihad From Muhammad to ISIS here now.

Agreed, Ken.
After 9/11 I decided to begin to really research Islam, which I had found increasingly disturbing over the preceding couple of decades. But I had thought that there would be just a couple of violent passages in the Qur’an–I was *shocked* when I read it.
I also knew that Islamic countries had over all a fairly violent history–but I had chalked this up more to their being mostly “third world” nations than to Islam itself.
Believing that Islam was a “religion of peace” on 9/11 might have been excusable–that so many people *still* cling to this belief today is not.
tim gallagher says
I agree, gravenimage and Ken. I can understand somewhat how people could still think that Islam was peaceful years ago ( although I must say that I thought, even back in 2001, that Bush’s statement was a really dumb statement to make, because a President or Prime Minister of a country should have some idea of the truth of what he’s talking about before speaking- I mean they have researchers to go and study the subject for them so that they don’t talk complete rubbish) but, I agree with you, gravenimage, when you say that it is inexcusable now for people to still believe such crap as the notion that Islam is peaceful, etc.. I believe everybody should have woken up by now. There are no excuses for such ignorance now. I constantly think, how could there be anyone who hasn’t woken up by now to Islam’s violent nature. Maybe you are right to say some people “cling” to the belief because they just can’t face up to reality. Maybe it would require them to make some tough decisions rather than just being slack and cruising along in their lives while ignoring unpalatable realities.
Michael Copeland says

could you take your excellent message to Theresa May?
gravenimage says
Fine post, Tim.
tim gallagher says
Michael, I’m sure that Theresa May would receive huge numbers of emails and letters which tell her the truth about how violent Islam is. I’m not sure why May, and so many other political leaders, choose to ignore the truth. I have been writing to our political leaders here in Australia since around 2000 and trying to wake them up to the problem they are importing into the country when they let Muslims migrate into the country. I (and the many other people who also lobby our politicians), don’t seem to be having much of an impact on our politicians, although I must say that, in recent years, the politicians do seem to acknowledge more often that there is a problem with Muslims. Theresa May is fairly old so she won’t be around to see the huge problems that Muslims will cause in the UK in the distant future because of the idiotic policies present day political leaders carry out. Maybe that’s part of why she doesn’t care much. Who knows? Maybe people like May are too gutless or just too lazy to try to deal with the problems Islam brings. I’m also pretty old also and I know I won’t see the worst of the problems with the Muslim imports trying to impose their barbaric crap on western nations, although I think things are pretty bloody bad already. I believe things are going to be really difficult for future generations if they keep letting Muslims into our countries. I believe everybody should be able to see this by now. Ending any more Muslim immigration would at least be a step in the right direction. Good luck with changing Theresa May.
tim gallagher says
Thanks, gravenimage, for your encouraging acknowledgement.
Andy says
In other words after so many years since 9/11/2001. People have had a real glimpse into the evil of Islam and are still pandering to it.
So the conclusion is, It must be a deliberate act of willful policy making by the leaders of western countries to our Judeo-Chritian Heritage Countries to flood our nations with as many Muslims as they can to change the fabric of our society.
Andy says
Great Posts, Tim.
Thank you
Cheers mate!
tim gallagher says
Thanks, Andy, for your reply. As I said above, I don’t know if it’s a deliberate act and deliberate policy or it’s just slack and gutless politicians. People, including political leaders, seem to be able to put off dealing with difficult situations, that idea of kicking the can down the road instead of dealing with problems, for a long time. Sometimes I think our politicians are too polite and don’t want to offend Muslims and so won’t tell the truth and won’t face up to problems. You know, just taking the easy way, the line of least resistance, instead of facing up to the reality of the problems Islam brings. The main thing I’m sure of, as I said above, in answering Michael, is that western countries everywhere are going to face gigantic problems if they keep letting Muslims into their countries. I think everyone should be able to see this by now. The problems are already pretty bad, but the problems are going to be so much worse unless our leaders face up to reality and put an end to Muslim migration. Then again, there seem to be plenty of signs that people in several European countries are getting angry and poltical parties that will face up to the Muslim problem are getting strong support. What you say about the deliberate attempt to destroy the whole Judeo-Christian heritage is definitely true of many left wing groups, and maybe some groups with some type of globalist dream. Cheers to you, Andy.

Avenger says
Seriously Wellington, you think Bush wasn’t an idiot? He was asked by journalists what one event that stood out during his presidency and he said “catching a 4lb perch at the ranch” or telling Putin that instead of going over his speech before a economic summit meeting, he instead should just “wing it”. What about holding the hand of the king of Saudi Arabia whose country was responsible for 911, after the attack?
Bush has by far caused more long term damage to the USA than Obama. If his last name wasn’t Bush, he’d most likely be driving a sanitation truck in Lubbock, Texas.
gravenimage says
Really, Avenger? You don’t think that saying that no one should not be allowed to “slander” the prophet of Islam is much worse than the boilerplate “Islam is a religion of peace”?
Wellington says
No, Avenger, I don’t think Bush was (or is) an idiot. Nor do I think May, Macron, Pope Francis, Merkel, et al. are idiots. Calling such people idiots LESSENS the real lesson to be learned. See my 5:01 P.M. post below for further clarification.
Calling smart but uninformed people idiots is itself stupid. And, no, I disagree with you on another matter, to wit, Obama caused far more damage to America than Bush did.
Your turn.
vlparker says
Bush was worse than an idiot. Bush, as commander-in-chief of the US, had a sworn duty to do his due diligence to know the enemy. He didn’t do it. He was utterly clueless about the enemy and made no effort to learn. In fact, he made a concerted effort not to learn. His motive was, most likely, PC cowardice, but given all the deep state cockroaches coming out of the woodwork these days whose loyalty doesn’t seem to be to the US, who can tell anymore?
I didn’t know much about islam before 9-11, but I did know that the first war the US had was with the Islamic Barbary Pirates. So, I started learning. But the commander-in-chief of the US couldn’t be bothered to learn? Utterly criminal, in my opinion.
And Bush, who couldn’t be bothered to criticize Obama, is siding with the deep state cockroaches’ effort to oust Trump. He may not be on board with impeachment, but he certainly isn’t defending the legally elected president and he has criticized him on several occasions.
The Bushes are a bunch of frauds who ran for office on conservative principles and abandoned them when they got elected. RINOs to the core.
Wellington says
vlparker: You miss the big picture too.
Can’t you effing see that making Bush 43 into an idiot only has the effect of EXCULPATING him? Rather, hold this intelligent and essentially decent man to account for making a terrible decision respecting what Islam is all about.
Gettin’ rather tired of pointing this out to good people like you who, by characterizing Bush as an idiot, moron, etc. prolong, yes PROLONG, developing the correct solution to dealing with the worst religion of all time.
Reconsider. The key here is to realize that good, intelligent, well-intentioned people can make horrible decisions at times. Proceed from here.
Avenger says
Good God Wellington, he is NOT a decent man. He is a traitor beyond any doubt!
Wellington says
Avenger: As I already said and detailed, Bush 43 is ignorant of Islam but this does not translate into him not being a decent man.
Indeed, God help us from the uninformed, decent people of the world. They often create more trouble long term than do the indecent ones.
As for treason, if meant in any legal sense, even Obama is not a traitor let alone Bush. I have detailed the reasons why on previous posts but since I am going to have a glass of wine and play a game of cards with my wife (she’s a better card player than I am—but what the hell, there’s always hope), I am not disposed to go into said reasons once again.
Good-bye for now. That is all.
gravenimage says
Bush is indeed a decent man. And whatever his shortcomings, he was *much* preferable to Obama, who is a genuine traitor.
Joe Felon says
Sorry to disagree my friend but no president, or politician for that matter, past or present, has done more damage to our beloved nation than Obama. Starting with his speech in Cairo, his agenda was all too clear: denigrate the country, blame the US for all the suffering of the world, all in the name of moral equivalence and liberal virtue signaling. That traitor did nothing by way of policy, domestic or foreign, to primarily benefit the citizens of the country he swore to serve. He is a globalist of the first order and despises America. His 8 years as president achieved nothing but the worst racial division since the ’60s while his love of the Islamic death cult served to weaken the nation and subject the people to increased risk of attack from “the religion of peace”.

Between islam and the left, western civilization is hanging by a thread. Europe is edging closer and closer to civil war.. Rape is the new sport in Europe. If we keep on the same path that we are on this is a preview of what is coming here.
That threat to the US is aided and abetted by political cowards in the Republican Party who, for selfish political reasons, refuse to address the Islamic issue. They are not good, decent, honorable men. They are willing to sell out their country and the lives of their granddaughters and great-granddaughters to their own selfish interests.
Trump is one of the very few people in Washington who seems to want to do anything about this problem. And he gets slapped down by the courts and absolutely no support from the RINOs. Bush, McConnell, Ryan and their ilk won’t lift a finger to defend the president. McConnell is too busy amassing a fortune through his in-laws connection to the communist Chinese government to worry about a little thing like the survival of western civilization. The Bushes protected the Saudis, who were up to their necks in 9-11.
Again, as commander-in-chief it was George W. Bush’s job, it was his duty, to know the enemy. He failed miserably. If W cannot see what is going on in Europe and realize that is our future, then he is indeed an idiot. If he can see, but chooses not to do anything about it, then he is worse than an idiot. Islam is at war with us and we are not fighting back because of political cowardice. It is shameful.

Some people have an interesting notion of what constitutes a ‘decent man’. Apparently, a Commander-in-Chief who can’t be bothered informing himself of the contents of the Koran so that he might better ‘know the enemy’ that his predecessor Thomas Jefferson understood so well, and who allows all his rich Saudi chums to quietly leave the US in the hours following 9/11, and who committed, on a pretext, the US (and others) to a pointless and costly war, is a thoroughly decent chap.
What an extraordinarily low bar some folk are willing to set for some folk.

Avenger, here is an article from Robert Spencer on the origins of the term “Islamophobia”:
“Did the Muslim Brotherhood invent the term ‘Islamophobia’?”

You will see that the term *much* predated George Bush’s response to 9/11.

Yes, this has been–for good reason–a common criticism of George Bush’s reaction to 9/11. Of course, he also invaded Afghanistan, which *did* have a direct link to 9/11. The main problem in both cases was that we stayed, in the mistaken belief that Muslims actually wanted freedom and democracy.

The FSA murders Christians who sides with the legitimate government of Syria and these are the same terrorists that John McCain went to bat for giving them millions of dollars and the best weapons that the Sunni retards could operate.
It’s now confirmed, Trump is following a long line of US Presidents will use our military and resources to do mercenary work for the princes of Saudi Arabia.
When the US finally destroys what’s left of anything resembling civilization in the Middle East, there will be more Black Rhinos alive in Africa than there will be Christians breathing in Syria and Iraq.
Trump and John Bolton have sold out the American people.

If someone is harming your family and you have the means to stop it wouldn’t you be an idiot or fool not to? This buffoon goes out of his way to make sure there is no retaliation against the perpetrators of 911 and even goes to the point of saying we should embrace them for this heinous jihadist attack.
If one of my family had been murdered by Sunni Muslims on 911, I would squarely blame the Saudi government. Not this idiot, George shuts down all US airspace then allows ONLY the members of the Saudi ruling family flights back home. Then “Bush the Fool” hides from public record the internal investigation of who was behind the 911 attacks, because it all pointed to ruling members in the Saudi government.
But you know, looking at it again, maybe Bush really is a genius who like Hilary Clinton is just a proxy for the House of Saud.

Indeed, Avenger, much depended on which university one attended, and which courses one took.
At the time gravenimage was at UC Berkeley, the history department was already dominated by leftists, and included at least one Russian spy.
gravenimage says
Actually, the history department at Berkeley at the time was refreshingly free of leftism. Henri Pirenne’s excellent book “Mohammed and Charlemagne” was taught in several classes, as was Islam’s hideous conquest of Constantinople. Islam was also, of course, touched in in classes dealing with the Crusades. I just meant that at Berkeley, as at almost every university in the West, there was comparatively little on Islam.
Of course, today it is often *much worse*, as departments of Middle Eastern Studies (or, even worse, Islamic Studies) generally whitewash Islam or even engage in out-and-out Da’wa.
gravenimage says
As for their being Russian spies in the history department, they wouldn’t have had much to do. Except for a few class handouts, all material generated by the history department was freely available through the University Press. No need for spying.

The Russian spy at UC Berkeley (his name escapes me at the moment) was an American who was working for the State Dept when he was rumbled by McCarthy’s investigators. Considered a minor player, he was allowed to take up employment in academia, which is how he ended up at Berkeley.

Actually, lots of otherwise intelligent people who *still* cling to the idea that Islam is a “religion of peace”. That is, in fact, one of the main problems we face in dealing with the threat of Jihad.
And no–George H W Bush had *nothing* to do with the Kennedy assassination. As Wellington notes, this is loony conspiracy theory stuff. In 1963, his only political post was head of the Republican Party in Harris County, Texas. Are we to believe that all Texas Republicans wanted President Kennedy dead? Otherwise, the links are pretty hazy, involving a flamboyant uncle of an old prep school roommate who said that he might have known Oswald at one time.
Joe says
Why is sanity always “loony”. Is that the best you have. Jackie crawled onto the back of the car to get some of the splatter. That means the shot came from the front (of course I don’t know who fired it – but we do know that the person was never caught). Yes, I know the Warren commission says that the bullet turned rebounded off the head, after it was inside, and then proceeded with violence out the back. That is impossible. So the official story is “loony”.
We also have an official “loony” story on 9/11, where the floors pancaked on all three buildings. If the floors pancake it would take over 20 seconds for each of the twin towers to fall. They fell in just over 10 seconds. Unless you suspend mathematics, you can’t get them to pancake in less than 20. If the floors pancake, they fall over. In all three cases, the building fell in their footprint. When the floors pancake, it is impossible for the superstructure to go with them. In all three case, the superstructure was taken out. The planes hit 2 of the buildings, but the bottoms of the buildings were blown out with explosives by a demolition crew. Any other answer is a failure to accept reality. That is “loony”.
Criminals should not be given free reign to commit any act of violence and then cover it up with some “loony” account of what happened. Yet we see that happening over and over.
StellaSaidSo says
Hang around here awhile, Joe, and you will learn that anything that Wellington and gravenimage disagree with is ‘loony’, regardless of the evidence. Their willingness to swallow the official story on events like the Kennedy assassination and 9/11 puts me in mind of kiddies who, way beyond the usual age of awakening, still believe that Santa Claus is real.

Joe: Read Close Closed by Gerald Posner for a detailed, actually exhaustive, account of the JFK assassination and how Oswald alone killed the President. No shot came from the front btw; this is simply flat out wrong. And there was no conspiracy of any kind. No serious historian has asserted anything but that Oswald was the lone killer.
As for the twin towers on 9/11 I suggest reading the Popular Mechanics article on it and why what happened occurred. There was no controlled demolition or anything like that. Asserting such is indeed loony conspiracy nonsense.

As if under hypnosis, everyone suspended normal critical faculties and drank in this learned guru of Islam. The reality is quite different: Bush was well known NOT to be a source of knowledge. Collections have been made of his unknowledgeable utterances. Why the sudden public memory loss? Quite probably it is to do with the persuasive manner, the sincere person-to-person assurance, that a lowered voice transmits. It also helps that the message is what people WANT to hear.”

Don’t let them fool you, the many apologists for Islam is will endeavor to set up a smokescreen to hide the reality of the truth about the violence and deadly essence of Islam by making the bogus claim that the al Qaeda operatives mass murderer on 9/11 were not real Muslims and that they were breaking the laws of the Qu ‘ran by their violence and deadly actions.” The apologists for Islam will further make the totally false claim that “Those terrorists on 9/11 were only criminals who hijacked the peaceful religion of Islam for Politics.” Those outrageously false claims are weak attempt of damage control for the image of Islam to the West. For the “holy book” of Islam the Qu ‘ran. For the Qu ‘ran instruct in Sura 9:111. Muslims who are engaging the jihad that “The believer’s fight in Allah’s Cause, they slay and are slain ,they kill and are killed “ That’s just what happened on September 11, 2001 the jihadists of al Qaeda “killed and were killed” in those 9/11 jihad attacks against both humankind and America. The Quran also teaches in Sura 9:123 to that jihad –minded Muslims behavior towards non-Muslims “let them find harshness in you…” Those Islamic attacks on 9/11 were indeed very “harsh.” As Sura 2:191 instructs “kill the disbeliever wherever you find them.” That’s a very strange kind of “peaceful religion” if there ever was one. Just to site one more out on many from the Qu ‘ran about the instruction of deadly violence is Sura 47:4. Which instructs “Whenever you encounter unbelievers strike off their heads until you make a great slaughter among them …” Let’s face it, using jet planes a missiles as those jihadist/ Muslims did of September 11, sure made a greater “slaughter among them” then sword can. Wake up West to the actual nature of Islam before it’s too late.

People still citing Bush 43 as a moron or an idiot weaken the cause of proper castigation of this man, which he deserves because of his exculpation of Islam. He graduated from Yale and got an MBA from Harvard. He is actually quite smart, has a terrific memory, and is well read in American history. I have said for many years now that Bush is actually smarter than Obama, respecting whom I have asserted that he has the most overrated intellect in the Western world (but this does not mean Obama is not smart, just overrated and ignorant {including referring to “Austrian” as a language}).
America has NEVER had an idiot or a moron as President. Asserting such only demonstrates ignorance and pathetic desperation—and a dearth of real and helpful ideas.
Accuracy is key in assessing anyone or anything. Calling Bush 43 a moron or idiot misses this mark by a mile. Indeed, it is PRECISELY because Bush 43 is not an idiot, not a moron, but an intelligent and overall decent man, that everyone who knows what Islam intends for us all should be concerned all the more because intelligence and decency are simply not enough when combating iniquity. Proper knowledge, common sense and good street instincts are paramount in this regard. Thus, we very much need to worry about intelligent and decent people like Bush 43 who are deficient in this trinity of importance that I just mentioned. Herein should lie the real cause for worry.

Spot on analysis, Wellington.

Thank you, gravenimage, but I fear many will still not learn how to optimally proceed to combat the longest-lived and best disguised malevolent ideology of all time, “Islam” by name. Calling Bush 43 an idiot or moron comes nowhere close to being optimal. Indeed, it actually thwarts the overall grand strategy that should be employed. After all, discord within the ranks of those who oppose a common enemy lessens the likelihood of a victorious conclusion.
Hope you are doing well out there on the other side of the continent. I’m still in NH and still rue the fact that Trump lost this state by less than 3,000 votes. Stay well, my friend. As always, I value what you have to say.

Wellington
While it is true that Bush is not an idiot in terms of his IQ, his opinion about Islam is idiotic. I assume Bush was either playing politics or formed his opinion about Islam from briefings by the State Department but I doubt that Cheney and Rumsfeld were so misinformed about Islam. Bush would have done less harm if he was universally perceived as an idiot. Bush and Obama have left Trump with a gargantuan task. How can we expect ordinary Americans to know the truth about Islam when their leaders either don’t have a clue or lie to them?
Wellington says
We’re pretty close here, Terry. I would label Bush’s assessment of Islam as foolish, highly so, but not idiotic. But even if one wants to call Bush’s assessment of Islam idiotic this does not translate into him being a moron or an idiot overall. Stay on topic and all that and know full well that many smart and decent people have adopted a myriad of foolish opinions over the course of history.
As for Cheney and Rumsfeld, my plain take of these two men is that they are very decent and intelligent human beings who are of the conviction that democracy, capitalism, the rule of law by a decent legal system (N.B., Islamic law is NOT a decent legal system such as English Common Law and Roman Law are), and a proper moral intelligence (N.B., Islamic theology precludes a proper moral intelligence) are optimal for any society to function optimally.
Problem is these two men remain to this day as essentially ignorant of Islam as does Bush 43. If you have any evidence to the contrary about these two men respecting an accurate knowledge of Islam compared to Bush 43 I would welcome such information. Alas, I think it non-available, vacant, not there, a void.
seabird says
Wellington,
I would like to recommend that you read a book titled “The Prosecution of George W Bush for Murder” by Vincent Bugliosi.
The late Bugliosi, a skilled prosecutor who convicted Charles Manson, argues that Bush mislead Congress and the American people into war
on false premises resulting in the deaths of 4,000 American soldiers and over 100,000 Iraqis (as of 2008).
The author is no “kook’ and changed my opinion of Bush (which was very similar to yours).
I don’t see Bush as an “idiot”, just a conman and a traitor.
Thanks for all your excellent posts.
Wellington says
Thank for your reply, seabird. I am familiar with the book you mentioned and I think its fundamental premise, that Bush deliberately mislead Congress and the American people when taking America into war in Iraq beginning in March of 2003, is seriously flawed.
Bush’s own CIA Director, George Tenet, told Bush that it was “a slam dunk” that WMDs were still being hidden by Saddam Hussein and would be found. Every major intelligence agency on the planet thought that SH was not coming clean on WMDs. Moreover, SH was violating the true terms of the 1991 War on a regular basis (e.g., firing virtually daily at British and American jets patrolling the two no-fly zones over Iraq). SH, though an enemy of al-Qaeda, nonetheless gave safe haven to a major al-Qaeda operative, Zarqawi, as of 2002 and Bush knew this and, understandably, concluded that while SH and al-Qaeda were enemies they had a common enemy in America and thus temporarily joined forces. Since SH certainly had had WMDs (and was the only dictator who had them AND had used them), no President of the US could take the chance that SH wouldn’t pass off some WMDs to al-Qaeda or some other terrorist group. After 9/11, and considering all this and that SH was still slaughtering his own people, Bush, I would argue, had no choice but to go into Iraq and take out SH (and his sons).
Where Bush erred was in thinking that democracy could be implanted in Iraq. Islam and true democracy, which requires true freedom, are completely incompatible and Bush should have known this. My God, he sill doesn’t and there is no excuse for this. What Bush should have done was keep the Iraqi military essentially in tact and select from it an officer who would run Iraq pretty much the way Mubarak ran Egypt. Then, America could have left minus a few Special Forces here and there to occasionally take out the extra bad guys in that miserable excuse for a country. In short, I would argue Bush was eminently correct in invading Iraq but was horribly wrong respecting what to do with Iraq after SH was gone.
Bugliosi maintained in his book that any of the 50 state Attorney Generals could bring murder charges against Bush. That not one did so itself speaks volumes. Thanks again for your comment. Much appreciated.
gravenimage says
Agreed, Wellington. Bush, whatever his mistakes, did not go into Iraq in order to murder Americans.

There was so much emotion surrounding 9/11 that the possibility of a huge backlash against the muslim community was real. Personally, I expected one. For the most part, the muslim community in America had been peaceful. None of the terrorists were home grown. Dubya was likely correct in trying to keep the lid on any such backlash. The problem is that the Western world is still trying to keep a lid on the backlash and the pot is getting ready to explode.
He went about it badly, very badly. It would have been a good time to call out the muslim community to denounce the terrorists, to distance themselves from terrorism and to show their support for the US and American values. Draw a line in the sand so to speak. It was a tremendous opportunity lost.. Muslim America was incredibly silent, has stayed silent and has learnt how to turn it around and play “victim” so very well.
P.S. There was dancing in the streets in Arab lands — most notably in the West Bank.
Wellington says
I think I’m with you here, Terry, on all points.
Nevertheless, it is imperative not to ever whitewash the Islamic theological blueprint, which is the only religious blueprint that is a prescription for the ending of liberty, equality under the law, a true Golden Rule for all—as well as for fine alcohol, tremendous visual art and great music (overall fun too per that old fart the Ayatollah Khomeini).
No one. NO ONE, does humanity any good by whitewashing the many inherent, dysfunctional and heinous aspects of Islam, respecting which there are a multitudinous amount.
Islam needs to be called out for its many despicable errors—in a Churchillian kind of way. Best we have right now is Trump. But I do wish that Trump, who has tremendously correct street instincts, also had the pure knowledge that Churchill did.
Am I wishing for the impossible? No, just the extremely difficult that is nonetheless attainable.
Not there yet. And when you consider the mediocrities that are now leading the West, Trudeau (what a flake), Pope Francis, Merkel, May, Macron, et al., I remain in scathing mode.
I will remain in “scathing mode” until virtually all of the West produces leaders like Trump, Orban of Hungary and Syzdlo of Poland (note to christianblood: Putin doesn’t count here because he has sucked up to Islam time and time again).
Oh yeah, not there yet. Not even close. And meanwhile those parasites of parasites, i.e., Muslims, see a bevy of opportunities to destroy liberty. Damn.

True, as well there was dancing in the streets by Muslims in America and many other Western countries as well. Wellington, your analysis is spot on throughout your threads.
My thoughts regarding IQ…
First and foremost, it serves no useful purpose to casually throw around IQ classifications that are no longer in use such as idiot, imbecile, moron, etc. These terms were retired in the 1970s, rightfully so.
Normal IQ hovers around 100, with superior intelligence 110-120, very superior intelligence 120-140, and so on.
Certain professions, undoubtedly, require significantly above average IQs; neurosurgeons, jet carrier pilots, nuclear physicist, etc. That being said, there are few welders, electricians, etc., out there who have significantly above average IQs that choose to do blue-collar work.
I’ve known many clear thinking and extremely knowledgeable individuals with normal or someone above normal IQs. I’ve also known some people with superior or very superior IQs that are not very knowledgeable about how the world turns and make very poor decisions.
President George W. Bush certainly had an above average IQ, was effective in certain aspects of his presidency, but failed MISERABLY in his understanding and approach to the real threat of Islam.
Avenger says
So James, in the 20th century what term do we now use for a person with a high IQ but diligently does everything wrong in protecting the people that brought he or she to power? Maybe a miscreant?
I’m a Sheet Metal Worker with a low IQ, so help me out here.
vlparker says
Good question. Calling people idiots and morons in and of itself serves no purpose except to vent a little steam. It’s not an argument. I’ll admit it is a bit juvenile and something I do too often. It is lacking in decorum, but to be honest, I am sick to death of decorum when that decorum is not accompanied by honesty. And when it is accompanied by an explanation of why that person is an idiot, then it is no longer just name-calling.
The RINOs in Congress are all upset about President Trump’s lack of decorum. Well, I would rather have a crass, crude and rude patriot as president who tells it like it is than all of the decorous frauds, liars and backstabbers that make up the oh so decorous RINO class in Congress.
I have no idea what George W. Bush’s IQ is and I don’t care. I know he is not an idiot and a moron by the classic definition of having a low IQ. He is worse. He is a man who has no excuse for not being informed about islam.
John Guandolo wrote the following. He was talking about the Obama, not Bush, but it applies in both cases:
100% of all authoritative Islamic Law obliges jihad until the entire world is under its rule. Jihad is only defined as “warfare against non-Muslims” in 100% of all authoritative Islamic Law.
When someone says there are many interpretations of Islamic Law, they are wrong. They are either lying or ignorant. In any case, they should not be a part of any professional national security discussion.
Islamic doctrine divides the entire world into two parts: the Dar al Islam (House of Islam) where Sharia is the law of the land, and the Dar al Harb (House of War) which is the rest of the planet. Islam states its purpose is to eliminate the Dar al Harb until the entire world is the Dar al Islam – via Jihad – and then you have “Peace” as defined by Sharia.
The fact that our President, Attorney General, National Security Advisor, Secretary of Homeland Security do not know this is evidence of their negligence as professionals to do their duty.
Americans are dead in places like San Bernadino, Boston, Chattanooga, and elsewhere because these leaders have relied on Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas, and sometimes Al Qaeda advisors to tell them about Islam instead of picking up just one book of Islamic Law and reading it. This is evidence of criminal negligence and we put doctors and lawyers in jail for this behavior.
And that is my beef with George W. Bush. He not only cannot see what islam is, he steadfastly refuses to see what islam is. He is making a concerted effort not to see what islam really is because he doesn’t have the courage to face the backlash he will get. And that applies to 95% of the people in our government. They take the path of least political resistance. As Mr. Spencer says, suicidal willful ignorance. It’s disgusting.
StellaSaidSo says
Another excellent post, vlparker. Appreciate the Guandolo extract. He is a brilliant source.
While calling the likes of GWB a moron may not be constructive in terms of solving a major problem (I don’t think anyone here claimed that it was), if the sentiment is widespread, the possibility that the chap in question might have committed a helluva blunder must be considered. Your point about honesty is well-made. Given a choice between ‘decorum’ and honesty, I’ll take a Trump in the WH over a Bush any day!
Wellington says
vlparker: Well, we are certainly in agreement on one thing and that is there is no excuse for someone like Bush 43 remaining extensively ignorant about Islam, which is the worst religion of all time. And I agree with you too about all the RINOs in Congress and that Trump’s “style,” which is so offsetting to so many, doesn’t bother me one bit. He kicks ass, always fights back, and it’s about time we have someone like him in DC, which is indeed peopled with lifetime positions in government, both the elected politicians and the unelected civilian bureaucrats (while term limits has some merit, if such occurred it would only INCREASE the power of the unelected, lifetime bureaucrats and so I say to anyone for term limits, be careful what you wish for because you might get it).
vlparker says
Well, just for the record, I’m not a big conspiracy theorist and I don’t believe the World Trade Center attack was an inside job. It was Islamic jihad, islam making war on the US, nothing more. The heat in the buildings was enough to make the building structure fail. The steel doesn’t have to melt to lose its strength, it gets quite pliable with enough heat.
As for Bush 41 being involved in the Kennedy assassination, this is the first time I ever heard that theory advanced, and it would require a tremendous amount of evidence for me to believe it. That being said, I no longer believe the official government explanation of anything. They lied about Benghazi, they are covering up what happened in Las Vegas, they constantly lie to us about Islamic attacks and I don’t think it is at all unreasonable to question the official report about the JFK assassination.
And Wellington, I’m glad we agree that there is no excuse for Bush remaining ignorant about islam. And I don’t mean to pick on Bush alone, this applies to almost all politicians. But it is my contention that that ignorance is willful due to political cowardice. Considering the stakes and the consequences of such willful ignorance, I don’t see how any of these people can be considered honorable. Ignorance is one thing. Willful ignorance is something else.
vlparker says
Thanks for the kind words, StellaSaidSo.

On the day of September 9 2016 some man I know who works as a security guard at a public place told me a Muslim actually had the nerve to walk over to him and said to him two Muslim “Jokes” about 9/11. As if it was a funny subject. It’s wrong to even try to “joke” about 9/11. Talk about bad “jokes” those two are the very much worst of all. The first was “What is the difference between September 11, 20001 and a cow?” answer “You don’t keep milking a cow after fifteen years.” Not only is that “joke” awful but those Muslims trying to be funny by say that cruel thing do have some gall because they have no room to talk . For they are still are “milking” the topic of the crusades and the crusades have been over for well more than seven hundred years. What gall they have! The second “Muslim “joke” about 9/11 is “On September 11, 2001 the people trapped on the upper floors of the WTC had ordered their pizza sent to them plane.” To say that such “humor” is terrible is an understatement. Furthermore, those Muslim who say those “jokes” are really only exposing their own sick, vicious, callous and heartless Islamic mindset.”
Furthermore, on September 11,2001 many Muslims rejoiced in different countries around the world then they found about the outcome of those al Qaeda jihad attacks in which so many people died . They were so glad and happy about all those people who died in such terrible ways. The reason they felt so happy with joy is because ,as the Bible explains such people have had “their conscience seared with a hot iron.” First Timothy 4:2. {K.J.V.] For them that “hot iron” is Islam

Disgusting, Walter–but not surprising. The second “joke” is even more appalling than the first.
As for “milking” 9/11, it is, of course, not as though this was an isolated incident. There have now been over 33,000 additional Jihad terror attacks just since then.
Walter Sieruk says
About 9/11 which everyone knows is the specific day of September 11, 2001 in the murderous affront against humankind and heinous jihad attack in America occurred by the deluded and evil jihadists operatives of that hideous jihad entity al Qaeda is a tragic example of the harm that men operating under the deception of a false religion can cause. Furthermore, concerning that past 9/11 jihad affront against humankind and America . First, the violent deadly jihad-minded Muslims are of this malicious and murderous mindset because they have in thoroughly indoctrinated with Qur ‘an based hard core non-watered down Islam. Not some kind of “hijacked” or “warped” Islam. Second, this should also serve as a reminder that Jihadist are still scheming and possible future Islamic murderous jihad attack in Americans homeland carried out by Muslim who are also violent and dangerous jihadists suicide/homicide – bombers /attackers with Islamic delusion they have because of the false doctrines of Islam. Likewise with their mad and irrational deluded Islam quest they are so thoroughly brainwashed and deluded that they actually think of their murderous actions as “martyrdom operations.” This jihad evil and madness is based on the Koranic doctrine, 9:111. , of a far-fetched and nonsensical doctrine of a sex- filled paradise with many virgins, hours, in it for the use only the jihadist/Muslim male who dies as a “martyr” fighting for the cause of Islam. This weird religious/Islamic teaching is found contained the Koran in 44:56. .55:56. 78:31. This bizarre and odd, irrational Koranic doctrine is not open, to the jihadist, to inquiry, questioning, logic or reason. So this blind unreasoning kind of “faith” in the Koran is a reminder that Thomas Jefferson had written. “Man, once surrendering his reason, has no remaining guard against absurdities the most monstrous, and like a ship without a rudder, is the sport of every wind. With such persons, gullibility, which they call faith, takes helm from the hand of reason and the mind becomes a wreck.” Likewise, Benjamin Franklin had printed in POOR RICHARD’S ALMANACK something which may apply to this topic. For Mr. Franklin had printed “The way to see by faith is to shut the eye of reason.”

The islamic murderers are practicing pure islam. To say they are “radical or extremist” is attempting to color them as bad and not true followers of their “prophet”. Mr Bush misspelled/misspoke: he should have said ‘religion of piece(s)’ of infidels.
David Grisez says
It sounds like the Star Trek characters known as the BORG was based partly on Islam. Such statements as, they never give up, they never give in, they never take any setback, no matter how devastating as decisive and they keep coming. It is unfortunate that so many leaders have been deceived or ignorant about the true nature of Islamic Jihad. One of the biggest lies in recent years has been that Islam is a religion of peace. This was started with former president George Bush, but it’s biggest promoter was former President Barack Obama. We need leaders who hold to the truth about Islamic Jihad if we are to restrain this evil system of Islam and protect the United States against Islamic Jihad.
Michael Copeland says
Robert Spencer’s “History of Jihad….” will have a profound effect on this ignorance.
Have a spare copy to lend out.

It was before President Bush it dates back to how Carter handle the Iran crisis ,that is when the Islamic terrorist saw how weak willed we were. America has been trying to appease these people for over at least 40 years .The worst was Obama crippling our front lines against Islamic terror the CIA, and the FBI removing any information about Jihad , Islamic terror, making believe it does not exist .

Churchill had it right in the River Wars. Bush was trying to tamp down the situation. Today, we know Islam means submission not peace.

On a side note… I am so so happy that Serena Williams lost… Her arrogance got a beating… All these years mollycoddled for the color of the skin by the Left Libbies, she was surely headed for a disgraceful fall. For long, I have always held that the Williams sisters carry a MASSIVE CHIP on their shoulders about their race and get UNDUE AND UNDESERVED praise from the MSM while other players conduct themselves far better….William’s outburst in the finals was a BIG SLAP on all those LEFT-LIBBIES who have spoilt her rotten… What I’m coming here is that many UNDESERVING MUSLIMS who too are mollycoddled by the LEFT and the MSM will do a similar EGG ON THE FACE ..THIS IS BOUND TO HAPPEN AND LEAVE THE LEFT IN DEEP EMBARRASSMENT from which they may never recover..

The first brick we need to pull out first from the weak facade of Islam in order to utterly and irreversibly collapse it is to, in one persistent, unified, and powerful voice, point out that Islam is the ONLY religion that sanctions the MURDER of Apostates!! We need to demand in an open letter and ad campaign that US Imams DENOUNCE the killing Apostates and make them force those like Sheikh al-Tayyab and al-Qawadari and the Mufti of Mecca to promise to reform. One of two things then might happen; the “thought leaders” actually make reform and weaken Islam….or proclaim US Imams as heretics for even suggesting that Mohammad’s command to kill Apostates is perfectly halal. That might actually grab the attention of our clueless PC dhimmis on just how evil this made-up cult is as most Americans don’t like the cult behavior of Scientologists yet at least they have not murdered Apostates (as far as we know). Need to kick ou that first brick on a topic that ALL Americans can agree is utter barbarity!!!!

Also start a peer pressure campaign to criticize rich liberal Westerners and celebrities who always seem to go to Dubai when the officials there continue to imprison women tourists who get roofied and raped in hotels by scumbags. I am sick of seeing the Emirates logo plastered on every sports team jersey or red-carpet sponsor wall.

I am going out and sit by the ocean and finish reading The History of Jihad. Otherwise I will drive myself into a depression watching the videos again, all day, same as the first 16 times. Please make it a point today to tell someone, even if only one person, about that book and why they MUST read it, stop listening to the Muslim liars and the Islamophobia pimps, and realize that we are at war.
Never forget that the evil of Islamic jihad is forever.

You cannot expect a politician to understand the reality behind islam when he can’t even get a famous saying correct.

About that September 11, 2001 jihad murderous affront against both humankind and America the following might be interesting to some people. A type of thinking of many from Middle East is the sayings that “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.” This type of Middle Eastern “philosophy” may explain, to a degree, how Muslims of two different branches of Islam which are hostile to each other can work together against what they perceive as a “common enemy.”
In this case the mullahs and other in power in Shi ‘ite Iran can work with the jihadists of al Qaeda against which they see as “The Great Satan” By that term they mean the United States of America. As the Muslim author, Rohan Gunaratna , explained in his book INSIDE AL QAEDA . For on page 198 it reveals that among different Islamic terror originations that “Ideological tolerance and intergroup cohesion as a means confronting a common enemy.” So another author, Robert Spencer, in his book which is entitled THE COMPLETE INFIDEL’S GUIDE TO IRAN supply’s information about this topic. It has been keyboarded that this book reveals “Iran’s long –standing support of terrorists- including shocking evidence that Iran helped plain the 9/11 attack.”

17 years post 9/11 and not a single president will declare that Jihad in all of its forms is an integral part of Islam and demand that the Muslim world to do something about it.

Robert Spencer,
When you wrote above, “The History of Jihad From Muhammad to ISIS is my last effort to try to show people the nature and magnitude of the threat we face”, I hope you meant “last” in the sense of “most recent,” as opposed to “final”!!!

I hope so too, Mr. Elass.

Bush, along with his cronies. Are all financed & empowered by the Zionist Jewish lobbies. Across America & Europe. It’s been the Zionists who’ve pushed for mass immigration of Muslims. Unleashing the kind of hatred against non-Muslims that the Jews don’t want to be seen to be doing. So they’re using Islam as a womd instead. Only the willfully blind & the obtuse idiots refuse or don’t see it.

kouldb over-estimates the role of Jews in creating the current catastrophe, but he is not wrong about the existence of a driving force behind it.
