Congressman Paul Gosar had dinner with Filip DeWinter, and CNN’s Andrew Kaczynski wants you to think that Filip DeWinter is a bad guy, and that therefore Gosar should pay a political price for this dinner. Kaczynski emailed me this morning to notify me that he had quoted me in this piece. The quote is from 2010; since then I have had no contact with Filip DeWinter and have no idea of his stances on various issues, but Kaczynski, of course, did not bother to contact me before publishing his article, to see if the quote was still current.
Have you ever had dinner with anyone with whom you have disagreements? Do you think you should be held responsible for all the beliefs of all the dinner companions you have ever had in your life? Kacyznski’s CNN article on this is Leftist smear propaganda at its finest, trying to hang Gosar for DeWinter’s alleged views without even making any attempt to present DeWinter’s views in anything but the worst possible light, or to find out from Gosar if he agrees with DeWinter.
So I wrote this back to Andrew Kaczynski:
Thanks, Andrew. Say, I’m working on an article and have some questions for you:
1. How did you determine that opposing jihad terror and Sharia oppression were “anti-Muslim”? Do you believe foes of the Nazis were “anti-German”?2. Is it your standard procedure not to contact the speaker for comment when republishing eight-year-old quotes?3. On what basis have you determined that there is no threat of jihad terror and Sharia oppression, such that those who oppose them are simply racists, bigots, etc.?4. Can you please direct me to the stories you did on the imams in California and elsewhere who recently were caught on video praying for the annihilation of the Jews? Can you please point out where I or anyone else you smear as “anti-Muslim” has ever prayed for or wished for the annihilation of anyone?5. Do you agree on all points with everyone with whom you have ever had dinner? If not, do you think it would be fair journalistic practice for CNN to try to defame and destroy you on the basis of your dinner companion?6. Are you free for dinner tonight? It’s on me.
“Republican congressman had lengthy dinner with extremist anti-Muslim politician during London trip,” by Andrew Kaczynski and Chris Massie, CNN, September 6, 2018:
(CNN)Republican Rep. Paul Gosar of Arizona attended an hours-long dinner in London in July with an extremist Belgian politician who has a history of inflammatory and racist comments.
The Belgian official, Filip DeWinter, told CNN’s KFile that Gosar joined him after the two spoke at an event in support of a jailed British activist at a dinner organized by former Trump White House chief strategist Steve Bannon.
DeWinter, who is known for his anti-Muslim views, is a prominent member of the far-right Flemish party Vlaams Belang — a successor party to Vlaams Blok, which disbanded after being sanctioned as “racist” by Belgium’s high court in 2004.
DeWinter has said Islam doesn’t belong in Europe, using the hashtag”#BanIslam.” He caused an uproar in June of 2015 over a racist tweet about a festival in Antwerp and spoke at the white nationalist American Renaissance conference in 2016. Even the anti-Muslim American activist Robert Spencer has noted, “Filip DeWinter has said some things I deplore.”
Gosar, a dentist by trade who has served in the House since 2011, is currently seeking his fifth term. CNN currently rates his race as solid Republican. A member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus and an immigration hardliner, Gosar called on Capitol Police earlier this year to arrest undocumented immigrants at President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address. In 2017, he claimed that the white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, was a left-wing plot….

Andrew Kaczynski should spend a few months in Sderot, but without access to any air raid shelters, so he can feel the love and warmth of the Islamists in Gaza!
mgoldberg says
I was in Sderot back in 2005. I was on a tour with the next to last bus out of Gush Katif right before it was bulldozed out of existence. Interestingly, last weekend, I listened to a young guy who was then 17 yo who was one of the family members thrown out of their homes in 2005. Now he represents three towns that have been built since then, that have some of those residents and new ones. The town is called Halutza, and it is 2 miles or so from Gaza and about 500 yrs or so from Sinai. They were suffering the exploding fire balloons for months now. They are an incredible bunch these people, and it is their land that is targeted for burning by the religion of homicidists.

Alternately, get Andrew Kaczynski completely drunk, and dump him in a friendly Muslim area of London or Birmingham!
Voytek Gagalka says
As Mr. “Kaplan” style from “North by Northwest” movie? That would be interesting to see Kaczynski’s “performance” right after he gets drunk. He would certainly not be as lucky as Roger Thornhill (played by Cary Grant) was, nor counting for any help from Ernest Lehman (script writer), nor be properly directed by Alfred Hitchcock (director).

These leftists are brain dead for sure. They do not understand Islam and its goals of world domination by any means!

If DeWinter has said Islam does not belong in Europe, I agree. Nor does Nazism belong in Europe. Nor does Marxism. Europe (and all the West) would be extraordinarily better off if no totalitarian ideology, Islam, Nazism and Marxism being three representatives of such, was present. This doesn’t mean that free societies should ban totalitarian ideologies but it certainly does mean that no totalitarian ideology should be passed off as something good and, ideally, should be kept to the barest minimum by way of regular criticism, ridicule AND immigration control.

“This doesn’t mean that free societies should ban totalitarian ideologies”
IMO, fully and completely banning any ideology (its documents and books, or from the Internet and other repositories, and especially from people’s minds) is impossible. Particularly so with religions.
As Muslims, in varying numbers, already live and practice their “complete way of life” in most if not all Western nations, immigration control takes a back seat to regularly criticizing Islam, ridiculing it, and making clear that practicing those of it’s aspects which run afoul of the U.S. Constitution and laws, for example, will not only not be tolerated but said practitioners will be prosecuted for doing so.
My 2 cents.
Wellington says
Your comment, PRCS, is worth far, far more than 2 cents.

What a World we live in, were people feel free to say anything they want
in a negative light, and feel free to not explain how what they are saying
is so.
This character Andrew Kaczynski, sees himself with the In Crowd,
there he can champion the cause, with impunity, there is where
the butter for his bread is found.
It is very sad, that, the moral values of our society have deteriorated
so, that, such insincere belligerent stories are not challenged by an editor,
on its validity before it gets released to the public.
Something does not have to be true for people to feel they believe it.
Yep—the name of the game is, just get it out there, once there, it is there.

A YouTube video featuring Filip Dewinter discussing “The Islamization of Europe”.
If he had kept the discussion focused entirely on the IDEOLOGY of Islam and left out any reference to RACE, he made some interesting points. Many of the same points have been made here at Jihad Watch.

Gee, I never get offers like this.
On the other hand, this is CNN and nothing like this surprises me.

UNCLE VLADDI says
Re: “1. How did you determine that opposing jihad terror and Sharia oppression were “anti-Muslim”?
Do you believe foes of the Nazis were “anti-German”?”
That’s what we call a “FAILED SYLLOGISM.”
The words “Arabs,” “Germans,” and “Italians” are descriptors of the race or ethnicity one is born into, (and thus has no choice in being a member of) while the words “Muslims,” “Nazis,” and “Mafiosis” denote crime-gang memberships, which are arguably voluntary (at least in the sense that, even if one was born into them, one can always choose to leave, even if it means avoiding a death penalty for trying to do so)!
So, because “jihad terror and Sharia oppression” are part of “islam” and it’s holy-mobster “muslim” gang members, to oppose them and “islam” itself IS to be “anti-Muslim” in the exact same way that opposing “national socialism” and “the mafia” IS to oppose their respective “Nazi” and “Mafiosi” gang members too.
Nice try at deflection, though!
I know you’re too smart to actually believe what you write on this topic, Robert, but hey – if it works on these less-intelligent, feral leftopaths and delays their attacks on you for a while, well … good luck!
(Sort of like I’ll be needing a lot of good luck to get this obviously factual but otherwise inconvenient and politically incorrect comment past your own Google-like censors and openly published here, too)!
