Sajid Javid “gave up” on attempts to ensure the US did not execute two British Isis militants because he feared sparking outrage in Donald Trump’s administration
UK Prime Minister Theresa May — who was formerly Home Secretary — had sought to defend the two accused Islamic State jihadists against the death penalty even in the face of their guilt, stating that she would not hand over material evidence “without assurances against the death penalty.”
The two “ISIS militants” are the alleged executioners El Shafee Elsheikh and Alexanda Kotey. Back in July, Jihad Watch addressed the issue of “left-wing politicians, media commentators, and senior Tories” who were upset that Home Secretary Sajid Javid was not making efforts to rescue the two from possible death sentences in the U.S. Now the reason for Javid’s inaction is revealed, and it has nothing to do with justice or the protection of citizens of Western countries, but is instead the fear of Trump.
“Due to the indescribable barbarity of the abuses committed by Islamic State jihadis,” Iraqi judge Abdul Sattar Beragdar said that he was “sentencing jihadis from the UK to death by hanging — in order to protect Britain,” a stark difference from UK politicians who are reckless with public safety.
Beragdar added that although the punishment seemed strong, that it “will affect the security of your country….I am sure there are hundreds of people in Britain at this moment thinking of committing similar crimes.”
A senior cabinet minister and secretary of state for defense, Gavin Williamson, also recognized the grave threat to UK citizens that members of the Islamic State pose. He stated months ago that those who have “fought for Islamic State abroad should be hunted down and killed to ensure they never return to the UK,” and that they “should ever be allowed back into this country…We should do everything we can do to destroy and eliminate that threat.”
“Fear of infuriating Trump made UK drop opposition to death penalty for British Isis suspects, court told”, by Lizzie Dearden, Independent, October 8, 2018:
Sajid Javid “gave up” on attempts to ensure the US did not execute two British Isis militants because he feared sparking outrage in Donald Trump’s administration, a court has heard.
El Shafee Elsheikh and Alexanda Kotey, who were allegedly members of a cell dubbed “The Beatles” and who killed a series of hostages in Syria, have been the subject of a legal dispute between the US and UK since being captured in January.
Earlier this year a leaked letter showed that Mr Javid had agreed to hand evidence on the pair to American authorities for a federal prosecution, but without assurances that the death penalty would not be used.
Elsheikh’s mother, Maha Elgizouli, is attempting to launch a judicial review over the decision and claims it is unlawful.
Her lawyers told the Lord Chief Justice, Lord Burnett, and Mr Justice Garnham that the “unprecedented and unjustified” move was taken against advice from government departments and violated precedent.
Edward Fitzgerald QC said it was influenced by the “anticipated outrage” of members of the Trump administration if the UK demanded assurances that the pair would not face the death penalty.
“[Mr Javid] wrongly exposed the suspects to the very real risk of an inhuman punishment,” he told the Administrative Court in London.
“This country should not facilitate the imposition in another country of a punishment which we ourselves recognise as inhuman and unlawful.
“He took those steps in large part because of the anticipated outrage of certain political appointees in the Trump administration if the UK insisted on death penalty assurances.
“We submit that the anticipated outrage of those US officials was not a proper consideration as a matter of law.”
Lawyers for Mr Javid argued that there is no common law prohibition on providing legal assistance to another country where it may result in proceedings leading to the death penalty…..

Thank Goodness Nigel Farage is no longer leader of UKIP.
Farage told activists that the party was right to oppose Islamic extremism “but if dealing with Islamic fundamentalism becomes a battle between us and the entire religion, I’ll tell you the result: we’ll lose. We will simply lose.”
Adding: “We absolutely have to get that Muslim majority living in many of our towns and cities on our side, more attuned to Western values than some pretty hardline interpretations of the Qur’an.”

And just how do you do this? Rationality is not in their wheelhouse.

Have we gone cuckoo! These alleged murderers showed no mercy to those they killed.
It is time justice was carried out, for once.

Well said. I hope they do get the death sentence in the US. Normally I am against the death penalty but over the last few years I have come around to thinking that there are some cases where it is deserved and should be carried out.

England is lost! How does PM May sleep at night, after she has basically given up the English
soverignity to the Muslim invaders and not protecting the English citizens! Hasn’t there been
enough attacks in English cities, or rapes or terrorist attacks all over the city to get her attention.
Or the amount of welfare money needed to support these invaders, not to mention medical costs and the diseases they bring with them! Housing and food as well. Most of the invaders don’t have jobs either. Why is that?? It’s complete insanity!
How did she ever get elected! PM Churchill is not resting easy today ! God save the queen!
Yet look at Germany and France – and how their open border mentality has almost destroyed their soverignity as well.
You have to respect italy and Hungary and their Prime ministers, for trying to protect their citizens
and their customs and soverignity!!

So,what’s the answer, you know full well what the answer is,STOP RE ELECTING the TRAITOROUS CON/LAB conspiritors, appeasers and enablers, these duplicitous career ‘politicians’ who place their unjustifiably high salaries and fraudulently high expense claims far above the real and justifiable fears and concerns of the electorate that were silly enough to put them back into Westminster,STOP RETURNING them, give your vote to UKIP or better still a combination of UKIP and our many street factions that have a common fierce anti muslim sympathy,it is the only way of returning belief and sanity to our crumbling Nation.
Tom says
Death is their creedo and goal so let’s oblige them because surely it is contrary to their human rights to deprive them of the opportunity to meet Allah and claim their reward of 72 virgins and as many butterfly boys as they can accommodate.
Death is a must for ISIS and other Muslim radicals if we are to adhere to the himan rights code of the United Nations. Allah bless the Iraqi judge who sees this and is fulfilling the UN mandate.
We in the west must also follow the great and good example of such a wise and sage judge.

Just kill them already thank Goodness in Iraq it’s legal.

Sadly, Iraq is more likely to murder kids who listen to Emo music than to execute actual Jihadists.

Bad luck for the two “ISIS militants”, the alleged executioners El Shafee Elsheikh and Alexanda Kotey.
If Obama was in the Whitehouse he would asked them what they wanted to eat when he invited them to dinner ……
This is why people love Trump

I believe the death penalty is necessary. Not just because I believe there are some people who are so dangerous they need to be put down, but for the economy. Let me tell you something, the criminal’s in jail. Who pays for their electricity? Who feeds them?
If your answer is: the government, you’re wrong.
The correct answer: you do.
Part of your tax dollars go into keeping these criminals alive and fed. Soto those who live in states and countries that don’t use the death penalty. You are keeping murderers fed and clothed.
Does that seem right to you?

Hi Z –
Here is something even more aggravatingly unjust:
The average cost for the death penalty in the US in the 2000’s (if one can believe an internet search now days) was over $1.7 million per case. Search “the cost of a death penalty”.
