Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

France: Strasbourg jihad mass murderer was “radicalized” in practice of Islam, but cops still searching for motive

Dec 12, 2018 7:39 am By Robert Spencer

“The terrorist motivation of the act, as we speak, is not yet established,” said Laurent Nuñez, the deputy interior minister.

But Nuñez also said this of Strasbourg jihad mass murderer Cherif Chekatt, who is not referred to by name in this article: “He had several stays in prison, and it is during those stays that was noticed a radicalization of the way he practiced” Islam.

All right. So he was “radicalized” in his practice of Islam, but nonetheless, French authorities cannot be sure of his motive. This is willful ignorance of the highest order, stemming from the near-universal dogmatic assumption that Islam is a religion of peace, and therefore could not possibly incite anyone to violence, and so there must be some other explanation. It’s tantamount to French officials in 1940 saying “German soldiers are pouring across the border and there has been noticed a tendency among them to Nazi radicalization, but their motive is not yet established.”

“Police in France Hunt for Strasbourg Shooting Suspect, and a Motive,” by Elian Peltier and Aurelien Breeden, New York Times, December 12, 2018 (thanks to David):

STRASBOURG, France — It remained unclear what motivated the gunman who opened fire at a crowded street market in Strasbourg, France, officials said Wednesday, as the police continued an intensive search for the attacker.

“The terrorist motivation of the act, as we speak, is not yet established,” said Laurent Nuñez, the deputy interior minister, although he cautioned that the investigation was still in its initial stages.

The attack on Tuesday night hit one of the most popular Christmas markets in France, unleashing chaos among the thousands of people milling around the temporary vendors’ chalets dotting Strasbourg’s historical neighborhood. The shooting recalled other attacks in recent years by the Islamist radicals in France, Belgium and other parts of Europe — but some witnesses wondered at first if the panic was related to the “Yellow Vest” protests that have paralyzed French cities in recent weeks.

On Wednesday, the police said that three people were killed and 13 others wounded….

“It might be the biggest Christmas market in France — you’d never think of an attack when you hear the first gunshots,” said Marc Meyer, 32, who said he was standing by the market’s Christmas tree when he saw a panicked crowd rushing toward him around 8 p.m. “You think of a street show, you think of some agitation from the Yellow Vests, but you don’t think that an attack is happening.”…

Mr. Nuñez, speaking on France Inter radio, said that a 29-year-old suspect, whose name has not been made public, had an extensive criminal record — he was in prison as recently as 2015 — but had never been convicted of terrorism and did not appear to have tried to go to Syria.

“He had several stays in prison, and it is during those stays that was noticed a radicalization of the way he practiced” Islam, Mr. Nuñez said. He confirmed reports that the police had raided the suspect’s home Tuesday morning in an unrelated murder case, but he said that the theory that the raid had pushed him to act was only “a hypothesis among others.”…

    God Almighty!

    Eurabia deserves her fate.

Anyone who doesn’t “get it” about Islam by now is incapable of being convinced that Islam is NOT a religion of peace. The evidence of the truth is there — plain as day.

The people in charge must be pretending to be ignorant of the motive. They are appearing to be totally incompetent, and should be sacked. They need an education in Islam, for sure!

The France terror attack is motivated by samething that motivated by muslims for 1400 years

@ Krishna : exactly and they still think they can fool us : not a bad word about Merkel’s Muslims never !

They don’t really fool anyone. The population knows what savages the Muslims are; the leaders are being paid off.

“The terrorist motivation of the act, as we speak, is not yet established,”

This is the maginot line of today’s France, much as the one they had in 1939 was utterly useless for defense of their nation.
They imagine that if they think nothing negative of Islam, then they will be spared the horrors of war, of having to war against….. something. But it has never been so, and is not so now.

They still look for a motive and say that they have no idea what country he is from ( born in Strasbourg — always the same crap when a Muslim commits a crime

It is an incredibly weak excuse. His religion it the motive, and that says it all.

This is adding insult to injury!

The motive is not faraway and is written in their Quran:
”Strike with terror the hearts of the unbelievers”
    Surah 8:12

Charles Martel would have done something more drastic to those assassins…
(BTW, ”assassin” comes from the Arabic…..Surprised anyone???)

Let’s just say the cause of the attack was due to the Police Raid of his home, until we can manufacture a permanent excuse elsewhere.

    “radicalised” in prison?
That is odd: there is no internet in prison.
    New excuse needed.

      Dec 13, 2018 at 10:56 am

Michael, what do you mean? ‘there is no internet in prison’. I’m fairly sure there is. However, there are plenty of muslims to indoctrinate new-comers.

This NYT article is like a Picasso abstract, i.e., the reporting is so jumbled up, it’s barely recognizable to those of us in the real world.

    Meanwhile, let’s review:
Cherif Chekatt (Cherif = Sherif = Noble in Arabic & Chekatt = ~Sheket = Calm / Quiet) was already well known to law enforcement & counter terrorism officers in France & Europe, with at least 27 convictions in several countries.

Cherif Chekatt shouted Allah Akhbar while he was shooting https://www.seattletimes.com/nation-world/strasbourg-shooting-suspect-an-ex-convict-tracked-by-police/

Cherif Chekatt displays multiple indicatiors that he is a Salafi Muslim (= Original, i.e., Predecessors), such as his beard, and especially the Zabibah (= Raisin in Arabic, which is the name for the callus on the forehead of Muslims who pray five times per day).
    https://www.jihadwatch.org/2018/12/france-strasbourg-jihadi-screamed-allahu-akbar-interior-minister-still-unsure-he-had-terrorist-motivations

From a retired law enforcement officer’s perspective, the reason government & law enforcement officials are so predictably reluctant to assign motive is obvious: if they openly admit they already knew who Chekatt was, but did nothing to intervene, they would naturally be held accountable by the general public.

A few terms and phrases so-called reporters and Westerrn “leaders” use which should be retired, as they couldn’t define them if their lives depended on being able to:

    bastardization, bastardaized, etc.
    extremism, extremist, etc.
perversion of a great religion, twisting a great religion, etc.
    radicalization, radicalized, etc.

How do they explain, to themselves, that compliance with one’s religious texts is “extremism”, or a perversion/bastardization of them, or that compliance equals radicalization?

Do they refer to the Pope or the Dalai Lama as extremists, too?

    • Dave says

PRCS you didn’t mention Islamophobia, Racist, Bigot, and Not all muslims…

  12. Westman says

    Dec 12, 2018 at 12:03 pm

The motive of the Islamic terrorist is obvious. Perhaps the motives of those who ignore it are more important.

It seems obvious that the “leadership” of certain EU nations are completely detached from the average citizen and have about the same attitude about any resistance to their insistent global “leading” as a rancher has toward deviant steers while driving cattle.

It is not possible that Macron, Merkel, Juncker, and the rest do not see the problems Islam causes for the citizens – they simply don’t care. It’s just a bearable hardship for the “cattle” on the way to market(globalism), a place where the “cattlemen” will have great reward for the delivery.

Like the socialist tyrants of the past, they sell equality of outcome to the masses while having no intention of being “‘equal”.

  13. Max says

    Dec 12, 2018 at 6:05 pm

It remained unclear what motivated the gunman.

It is a trick that politicians use all the time. They keep denying the elephant in the room in the hope that it will go away. It never does, so they then restrict your ability to discuss the matter. Kiss goodbye your freedom of speech.

Moslems simply do not belong in France. They need to be rounded up and deported back to their Moslem-majority nations.

    Dear Macron:

Your Moslem migrants can not now nor ever become French.

Meanwhile in Australia, a judge, when sentencing an Islamis here says about:

A Bankstown teenage terrorist who bought hunting knives for an ISIS inspired attack will spend up to 16 years behind bars. He insists he’s innocent and that his bayonets were for pig hunting.
But the a judge described his plans as meticulous and motivated by Islamic State.
This judge definitely gets it as he said “The beliefs you hold have no place in any civilised society”.
The practice of Sharia law should be banned throughout the Western world.
