“Mohamed was arrested Nov. 23 after police say he shouted anti-Semitic slurs toward a crowd of worshippers exiting Congregation Bais Yeshuda in Hancock Park. Investigators said Mohamed tried to run down two men with his car before speeding away and crashing.”
However, “Mohamed’s family has said he holds no hatred toward the Jewish community or any other groups,” and of course their claims are to be taken at face value, with no investigation or further inquiry. Any other course of action would be “Islamophobic.”
“The FBI has been assisting in the investigation, but authorities have said they have no evidence of links between Mohamed and any known terror or hate groups.” What’s more, “he was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 2015 and has been treated at mental health facilities in the Seattle area at least twice in recent years.”
Well, then, this must be an open-and-shut case of mental illness, right? No jihad, no Islamic anti-Semitism, right?
Maybe not. If Mohamed Abdi Mohamed is schizophrenic, why did he act out in this way, screaming “anti-Semitic slurs” while trying to run over Jews? Could it have something to do with the fact that his religious and cultural frame of reference includes the Qur’an? Remember, Mohamed Abdi Mohamed had a Qur’an on his dashboard when he tried to run down these men. The Qur’an depicts the Jews as inveterately evil and bent on destroying the well-being of the Muslims. They are the strongest of all people in enmity toward the Muslims (5:82); they fabricate things and falsely ascribe them to Allah (2:79; 3:75, 3:181); they claim that Allah’s power is limited (5:64); they love to listen to lies (5:41); they disobey Allah and never observe his commands (5:13). They are disputing and quarreling (2:247); hiding the truth and misleading people (3:78); staging rebellion against the prophets and rejecting their guidance (2:55); being hypocritical (2:14, 2:44); giving preference to their own interests over the teachings of Muhammad (2:87); wishing evil for people and trying to mislead them (2:109); feeling pain when others are happy or fortunate (3:120); being arrogant about their being Allah’s beloved people (5:18); devouring people’s wealth by subterfuge (4:161); slandering the true religion and being cursed by Allah (4:46); killing the prophets (2:61); being merciless and heartless (2:74); never keeping their promises or fulfilling their words (2:100); being unrestrained in committing sins (5:79); being cowardly (59:13-14); being miserly (4:53); being transformed into apes and pigs for breaking the Sabbath (2:63-65; 5:59-60; 7:166); and more. They are under Allah’s curse (9:30), and Muslims should wage war against them and subjugate them under Islamic hegemony (9:29).
So what if he is schizophrenic, and deeply troubled by matters both real and imagined, and decides that he can get into Allah’s good graces by killing some Jews? That possibility will not be considered. But it should be.
“Criminal case against suspect in L.A. synagogue attack delayed after questions about his mental health,” by James Queally, Los Angeles Times, November 30, 2018 (thanks to David):
Criminal proceedings against a Seattle man accused of trying to run over two Jewish men outside a Los Angeles synagogue have been suspended amid questions about his mental competency, officials said.
During a bail review hearing Friday morning, public defender David Canas questioned whether 32-year-old Mohamed Abdi Mohamed was competent to stand trial for two counts of assault with a deadly weapon….

Mohamed’s family has said he holds no hatred toward the Jewish community or any other groups. He was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 2015 and has been treated at mental health facilities in the Seattle area at least twice in recent years, according to medical records reviewed by The Times.

“Mohamed’s family has said he holds no hatred toward the Jewish community or any other groups.”
Must be true, then. They wouldn’t lie about it.
Let him go!!

It struck me also. They can’t be lying! Their religion forbids it!

Their ‘religion'(?) allows lying to infidels (everyone else).

Hi, Brother Charles. Apart from a week back in the summer when I was out with computer problems, I post here pretty much every day.
Hope you are doing well.

“authorities have said they have no evidence of links between Mohamed and any known terror or hate groups.”
Authorities have a learning curve to climb.
The “excellent pattern” cited in Koran 60:4 is “between us and you enmity and hatred forever”.
The Koran instructs muslims to “terrorise them”(8:60).
Islam is a terror and hate group, as defined by its own texts and doctrines.

POLITICALLY MOTIVATED terrorist/hate group.

Los Angeles criminal case against Muslim who tried to run over Jews suspended: “questions about his mental health”
……………………
This is not mental illness–it’s Islam (which, admittedly, can look a lot like mental illness to civilized people who are uninformed).
mummymovie says
And here we go again with the “mental illness” stuff, meaning that statistically, with the intent of cleaning up after muslims and protecting the image of islam, this will go down as something other than a terrorist attacj, which it clearly was.

Agreed, mummymovie. And thanks for that link–I had not seen that excellent article from Bosch Fawstin.

From all recent trends and events, Jihad terrorism seems to be now legal in California, and a few other bits of Ameica, like Dearborn. Whether he is Muslim or mentally ill, he still qualifies for restraint in the interests of public safety.

What recent events are those?
“California man sentenced for plotting ISIS-inspired San Francisco attack”

This Jihadist got 15 years.
How about this one?
“Terrorism figure gets an extra 20 years in prison for attempted murder of California prison warden”
https://www.mercurynews.com/2018/08/14/terrorism-figure-gets-an-extra-20-years-in-prison-for-attempted-murder-of-victorville-prison-warden/
There are problems here, no doubt, but the claim that Jihad terror is ipso facto legal here is quite false.

He is mentally ill…..just a euphemism for follower of islam.

Whatever happened to locking away the “criminally insane”? They prosecuted and locked away “Son of Sam,” for his crimes…though he was also “mentally ill.”
If he “suffers” from mental illness…for which the usual sufferer gets medication to help control the impulses, the “voices.” and other manifestations…why was he allowed out on his own, renting a car, leaving the state where he lived to attack persons in another state?
And the FBI…saying he wasn’t a member of any “known groups”….moslims are a “known group.” They go to the same places to learn to prey, they read the same book…which he had…they believe the same things and “hate” the same things and “hate” the same groups of people…esp Jews and Christians.
Whatever happened to the “lone wolf” theory the FBI loved so much? Guessing since there is no such thing among moslims, they had to abandon it and proclaim each “lone wolf” as “mentally ill” instead.
This way, they can postpone…until everyone forgets…dismiss all “evidence” and the case…keep from identifying islam as the problem… as the source of the hate and the violence and the murders.
James Lincoln says
From a physician’s viewpoint,
For a moment, let’s assume that the behavior of this 32-year-old Muslim was actually due to schizophrenia, among the most serious mental health disorders.
What was the psychiatric treatment?
Standard of care, of course, would be emergency involuntary admission to a psychiatric ward if the patient were deemed an immediate danger to himself or others. It appears, in this case, that he did pose a danger.
What criteria would the psychiatric medical staff use as a “test of adequate control” before release from the clinic? What medications / psychotherapy would he be prescribed? What would be the follow-up care regimen?
Most importantly, if it was determined by the psychiatric medical staff that the Islam ideology exacerbated his underlying mental illness, would they recommend leaving the religion? If not, why not?

my ex mother in law was schizophrenic….she took a baseball bat to a policeman at the bart station. Of course they arrested her. She stayed in jail for one night but the next day she was sent to the psyche ward……For 2 or 3 months. She was ill and that is why she did what she did….and if this man has been diagnosed with schizophrenia, then he is ill too. And should be treated as such. There are plenty of anti semitic people out there that are not certifiably crazy. This guy isnt one of them.
gravenimage says
BART station? Are you in the Bay Area, lisalles? Sorry about your mother in law.
As to your main point, you are right. If someone is mentally ill and a danger to others, they should be institutionalized.

When I visited the Belleek factory in Ireland, I was surprised to see a stamp on the back of some of the china in their museum that said, “Made for the Loony bin”. Oh how my mind wanders now a days. The religion of peace might drive us all mad.

The following is an addition to Robert’s remarks, not a disagreement. A common logical error in these discussions is to assume that if a person is insane, then he is not motivated by religion. In reality, most human actions have multiple causes. Consider three hypothetical cases.
X is mentally ill , but not religious. He harms no one, or perhaps he harms a family member who has angered him.
Y is religious but not mentally ill. He may of course go his whole life without harming anyone, ignoring all scriptural exhortations to violence (just as many Christians ignore many of Jesus’ exhortations) .
Z is religious and insane. He goes to a gathering of witches with a firearm and kills five of them , having read Ex 22:18.
