Farage says that Batten “seems to be pretty obsessed with the issue of Islam, not just Islamic extremism, but Islam, and UKIP wasn’t founded to be a party fighting a religious crusade.”
Maybe not, but how does Farage propose to separate “Islamic extremism” from “Islam”? And it makes no difference that “UKIP wasn’t founded to be a party fighting a religious crusade”; the Democrat Party wasn’t founded to be a party fighting for open borders and socialist government either, but that’s what it is now. No one is actually calling for a crusade, but Britain has a large and growing problem with jihad and Islamic supremacism. If UKIP doesn’t confront it, who will? Possibly no one, in which case the Sharia supremacists will certainly triumph, and Britain as we have known it will be dead.
It’s astonishing that Farage could be so short-sighted.
“Former leader Nigel Farage quits UKIP,” BBC, December 4, 2018:
Nigel Farage has quit UKIP, saying the party’s leader Gerard Batten seems to be obsessed with Islam and ex-English Defence League leader Tommy Robinson.
Speaking on LBC radio, the former leader of the Eurosceptic party said he made the decision with a “heavy heart”.
But he said he did not “recognise” the party anymore and it was turning a blind eye to extremist politics.
Mr Batten survived a vote of no confidence on Monday, after he appointed Mr Robinson as an adviser.
However, the party’s ruling body said it did not endorse Mr Robinson’s appointment and he was barred from membership “through his associations”.
Mr Farage – who joined the party’s forerunner, the Anti-Federalist League, in 1992 – said he had worked “tirelessly” for UKIP with the aim of forcing a vote to “get us back our independence” from the EU.
But he said under Mr Batten’s leadership “a lot has changed”.
“[Mr Batten] seems to be pretty obsessed with the issue of Islam, not just Islamic extremism, but Islam, and UKIP wasn’t founded to be a party fighting a religious crusade,” he said.
“[He is] also obsessed with this figure Tommy Robinson…”…
Diane Harvey says
Nigel the Toff doesn’t wish to soil himself with a root cause of Britain losing its independence which, if he’s to be believed, is what motivated Farage to start UKIP in the first place. So losing independence to the EU is bad, but losing it to Muslims is a meh moment?
Both are totalitarian monsters. To fight one is to fight the other.

Isn’t Britain going to sign the UN Migrant Resolution? If so, what was the point of Brexit, as Islamic migration is loss of sovereignty and conquest.

“Isn’t Britain going to sign the UN Migrant Resolution? If so, what was the point of Brexit, as Islamic migration is loss of sovereignty and conquest.”
The UN Migrant Compact is being hidden by the MSM, just as joining the EEC was hidden until it was all done and dusted. It took 40 years to undo that damage, it will take longer to undo Marrakesh. And so few know, and of them even fewer care.
smorris says
Farage seems obsessed with the idea that this party belongs exclusively to him and with the fiction that he has somehow single-handedly achieved something called “Brexit”. Neither is fact. Nor is it reasonable that a political party should be frozen in the milieu in which it was founded. That’s what killed the Whigs in the US. To remain relevant a party must address the issues of the day. And what kind of s##t is it that requires approval to be a member of a political party? Do they issue membership cards or secret code rings or what? Robinson, for that matter doesn’t need a party to reach the people. He is telling the truth – not for personal gain or fame. Quite the contrary. The people of Britain will never be able to repay him for the cost he has borne in order to stand up for the little girls and the families of Britain. A decent and courageous man with staying power, something that could never be said of the clown Farage.
Yokel says
Farage is an excellent orator, poor team player, and awful team leader. He is a dictator, best served by an echo chamber. At least that is what I am hearing and reading from those who have had dealings with him in the past.
Roger woodhouse says
Farage has exposed his inherrent ‘snobbery’.He managed to conceal it as his many visits to public houses and photo opportunities testified. But a snob he is but worse than that he has slandered Tommy Robinson and his millions of supporters here in the UK and around the world. He left UKIP 2 and a half years ago effectively but now wants to re enter the political arena via UKIP which has moved on without him.Tommy will be a very usefull ally for UKIP and Gerard Batten will be proven right to have harnessed him .They are right to keep the threat of Islam to the fore in British politics. No one else dares to.
DogSoldier says
Well said you can’t fight for the freedom of your country from one globalist idealogy ( the EU ) then say fighting for freedom from another idealogy ie Islam and Muslims from taking over is racist ? Fighting to be free and to stop any idealogy from taking over is one and the same 🇬🇧
Jon Sobieski says
I have seen Farage repeatedly dismiss those who don’t want to use the ‘radical’ or ‘extremist’ qualifier. If he can’t see, leave him or he will lead you into a pit.
eduardo odraude says
Yes. Unless he’s being a political animal who thinks he as a politician can resist Islam most effectively as prime minister, which means he’d need to be stealthy about goals with respect to stopping further immigration of Muslims. The job of the grassroots, like us, is to shout from the rooftops. The job of opposition politicians can also be to shout from the rooftops. But if someone wants to become prime minister and resist Islam in that capacity, his strategy in the current situation would probably have to be more stealthy.
However, I realize that might not be what is going on in Farage’s head. He may simply not care particularly about Islam one way or the other. But if he is in fact being stealthy, and if one of his main goals is indeed to stop further immigration of Muslims, I imagine he’d want to achieve that by means of policies that have a chance to be adopted, i.e., policies that do not mention Muslims but indirectly have the desired result anyway.

Nigel Farage is a snake.
It is Farage who is obsessed with Islam, and Farage wants the UK to surrender to the evil cult.
Up until 2012 Farage was espousing Christian values, wanted to ban the Burka, and questioned why Islam was being forced on the UK’s school children.
By the end of 2014 Farage was touring mosques and recruiting Muslims into UKIP as UKIP officials and candidates.
What made Farage such an ardent supporter of Islam?
My guess is “follow the money”.

Farge caved to the relentless pressure from, Islamists, and their left wing progressive commie allies.

Mmm…bye-bye, Nigel. Don’t let the door hit you in the seat on your way out.
Mirren10 says
Farage is a typical political snake.
I admired him once, because of Brexit, and what *seemed* to be his stance on islam, but now he is showing himself to be a disgraceful turncoat.
UKIP is better off without him, and *much* better off with Batten and Tommy Robinson. Please God Batten doesn’t do a similar U turn …

You’re in the UK.
I hope you have already written to Mr Batten expressing support for his current position as stated, and encouraging him to *stand firm*.
I hope all other UK jihadwatchers here posting or lurking have done the same.
If he receives thousands of brief, intelligent, polite letters of support from persons all over the UK, he will hopefully be encouraged to keep on keeping on.

Nigel Farage doesn’t want to be entirely dis-invited from the elite’s cocktail party circuit.
You cannot separate Islam from the EU because they are firm allies in the war against national sovereignty and individual rights and liberty.

As Robert Spencer was banned from Britain by May, when she was in charge of the home office, Tommy Robinson has been banned by the US State Department from entering the USA. This is globalist conspiracy to silence us.

Is it a religious ‘crusade’ or is ISLAM AT WAR WITH KAFIRS ‘for the sake of Allah’.
Islam has a doctrine of TAQIYYA, so how would anyone know if Muslims are planning to TAKE OVER?
Muslims are not going to confess that their political aim in politics is to OVERCOME the dirty kafirs.
They will USE TAQIYYA to deny ISLAMIC SUPREMACISM.

Batten is pretty obsessed with islam. Gee, I wonder why.

According to the BBC,
“Nigel Farage has quit UKIP, saying the party’s leader Gerard Batten seems to be obsessed with Islam and ex-English Defence League leader Tommy Robinson.”
Gerard Batten is CORRECT to be obsessed with Islam – and obtaining the help of Tommy Robinson – to effectively confront Islam as a direct threat to the future of the UK as a free nation.
I’m dead serious.
smorris says

I guess he took a page out of Neville Chamberlain book on how to advance your career why killing your nation on the altar of supremist appeasement, or as someone with back bone and balls said you can not negotiate with a tiger with your head in its mouth he is leaving the party that does not want to put its nation in the mouth of Islam hoping it will not bite.

So what does Nigel suggest we do about the islamic menace, send Agent 007 to the rescue ?
We shall go on to the end. We shall surrender in France, we shall surrender on the seas and oceans, we shall surrender with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall surrender our island, whatever the cost may be. We shall surrender on the beaches, we shall surrender on the landing grounds, we shall surrender in the fields and in the streets, we shall surrender in the hills; we shall surrender to islam!

Ouch! I prefer the original Churchill.
The sad thing is that not long ago Nigel Farage was a solid Anti-Jihadist.
David Jackson says
Farage is an arrogant self centered mn. He deserted the party after the referendum and interfered with every subsequent leader since because he wanted to be seen a Mr UKIP. The problem was the membership dwindled and dwindled afrer the referendum except under the current sensible sound policies and efforts of Batten. Read the Manifesto Farage what is there is that you object to?
This arrogant man clearly does not see (or more likely because he secretly seeks wider political recognition) that islam is as much a threat to the UK as is the EU. Batten like Robinson is not a racist but he does recognise the dangers of a spreading islamism in the UK and wants it stopped like the vast majority of UKIP members.
Good riddance Farage you are a spent force.
Jacinte Lamothe says
Farage suddenly is changing colours and his behaviour is one that brings confusion. If one has cancer, one cannot ignore it. According to Farage, pretend there is no cancer and go to some other business. Furthermore, ask any honest and logical muslim and he will tell you that there is no radical muslims, it is the definition of the West; there are only muslims meaning that they are all in the same boat. To have Tommy Robinson as an advisor is the most fantastic idea. He is very knowledgeable and his expertise has to be used. However, they all acted as cowards at UKIP. They stop half way in their fight. A fight must be carried up to its conclusion, regardless.
Tom says
Nigel Farage may be right when he says that UKIP wasn’t founded to fight a religious fight but he has to realise that there are times in history when a people and organizations have to adapt to the situation and accept, albeit reluctantly, that it is a time when their generation must act in order to save future generations.
One such previous time was in 1939 when a tyrannical regime was steamrolleing over countries and it took one small nation and its people to acknowledge that they were the ones who must stand up to the tyranny.
I am reminded of a line from the movie ZULU when the small garrison at Rotkes Drift were standing waiting for the first onslaught of Zulu warriors to attack. One young squaddie, obviously afraid of what was to come, standing next to the Color Sergeant asks “ Why Us?” to which the old Color Sergeant replies “Because we’re ‘ere Lad”. This line epitomises ourcurrent time and place in history and our predicament.
So Nigel, although UKIP wasn’t created to fight a religious war, it may haveno choice “Because we are ‘ere Nigel, no one else”
Irony and fate thrust such challenges upon a generation from time to time in history and sometimes it is unusual heroes that must step forward to meet those challenges.

Separating Islamic extremism from Islam is like separating the Nazis who forced the Jews into the gas chambers from the Nazis who loaded them onto the trains to take them to the death camps.
Islam is extreme by any civilized Western standard.
Here’s an interview with Batten (he reminds me of Geert Wilders):

Mr Batten has made it clear. Its just as simple that. Now or never.

I like the look of Batten.
I like the fact that he has actually *read* Peter McLoughlin’s “Easy Meat”.
I wonder whether, on the quiet, he has had a nice long chat with Gavin Boby and/ or visited his “Law and Freedom” site?
I hope he has been in touch with Geert Wilders.
I hope that he is also sounding out *any* politicians around the place in *other* parties who have shown signs of awareness of the Meaning and Menace of Islam (to borrow a phrase from our own ‘Hugh Fitzgerald”), and of a willingness to say NO to its demands.
To British jihadwatchers I can only say – Get behind him and PUSH.
