“School administrators reportedly explained they had made the decision to ‘avoid singing anything of a direct sacred nature’ in order to be ‘more sensitive to the increasing diverse population at the school.’”
Hmm. Who could they have in mind who might be offended by the mention of Jesus at Christmas? Jews have been in the U.S. from the beginning, and never had any problem. And this is Virginia, where there is a large and rapidly expanding Muslim population. Clearly this decision was made to avoid offending Muslims. How wonderful, generous and multicultural! Now: where is the Islamic school in Saudi Arabia, Iran, or Pakistan that is avoiding mention of Muhammad to keep from offending Christians?
“Virginia School Bans Christmas Carols Mentioning ‘Jesus,’” by Thomas D. Williams, Breitbart, November 30, 2018:
To celebrate the birthday of Jesus Christ, the Robious Middle School in Midlothian, Virginia, has banned any Christmas carols that mention the name of Jesus.
School administrators reportedly explained they had made the decision to “avoid singing anything of a direct sacred nature” in order to be “more sensitive to the increasing diverse population at the school.”
David Allen, the father of a student at Robious Middle School, has expressed his concern over the exclusion of Jesus from Christmas songs to be performed at school Christmas concerts.
Allen said students were forbidden from singing a particular carol “because the word Jesus was in there and apparently someone assumed it was of a sacred nature.”
According to Allen, it seems as if “everywhere you look everyone’s afraid of stepping on someone’s toes or everything is being so sensitive.”
In an email exchange with Allen, the school’s choir director said that the Jesus ban stems from problems experienced by students.
“We had a few students who weren’t comfortable singing a piece I have done many times in the past, but it is of a sacred nature and does mention Jesus,” the choir director wrote.
While this exchange was going on, Allen said he had received a “diversity notice” from the school explaining their commitment to diversity and inclusion, which struck him as paradoxical.
“I’m trying to rationalize how you can encourage diversity and yet be exclusionary in one specific area,” Allen remarked.
Attorney Michael Berry of First Liberty Institute wrote a letter to the Chesterfield County School District, of which Robious Middle School is a part, explaining that that, legally, public schools have no reason to ban Jesus from Christmas concerts or other celebrations.
“Federal courts have upheld the constitutionality of public school holiday programs that include the use of religious music, art, or drama,” Berry wrote, “so long as the material is presented in an objective manner ‘as a traditional part of the cultural and religious heritage of the particular holiday.’”…

Why would Muslims whine about Jesus in a song when they tell us how Islam recognizes Jesus in the Qur’an as a prophet and call him a Muslim and Jesus speaks from the cradle pledging his servitude to Allah. Their problem is shirk, that is, attributing Jesus as a Son of God. Since they don’t mention the song I don’t know what the lyrics say. So, they shouldn’t have an issue. Some Muslims have told me they love Jesus and others that Jesus is a Muslim and he wasn’t resurrected but an impostor put in his place as stated in the Qur’an.
Maybe it was atheist parents? Then those same people should be uncomfortable with Islam or any religion being taught in schools beyond a mere explanation of the highlights of said religions which can be accomplished in one class as I had.
In elementary school at the Xmas concert we performed for parents, all the songs were non-religious except the audience was called to participate in singing O Holy Night (Silent Night) as it is such s pretty song. No one complained, not even the Jewish parents. In fact, I don’t recall Jewish parents complaining about anything including providing kosher food at lunches; many of us brought our own lunch as it was.
I’m an atheist and have been vocal that the Pledge if Allegiance should return to it’s original as intended without the “under God” that was added in the anti-communist atmosphere. I say it but that isn’t how it was written and I noticed this in kindergarten. It is one thing that should rightly be done; I don’t care about our currency though with In God We Trust nor do I care about any references except that Congress should not be saying prayers on the Congressional floor and they do Muslim prayers too but then should do Native Indian evocations, and all else such as Hawaiian beliefs, etc. It’s easier to keep it out. Otherwise I don’t care and went to my childhood church recently and did everything the congregation did as only proper or else I shouldn’t have been there. So I crossed my heart, said the Lord’s Prayer, etc. I’m not a militant atheist but I vehemently believe in a secular government. Complaining about a song that is in a concert not school class is obnoxious.
People who complain about such harmless traditions in American schools, etc. are not about inclusivity or cultural appreciation but pretty much a**holes, to be blunt.

As an atheist myself I agree this is ridiculous. Why are Christians always trying to appease
Muslims. Do Muslim try to appease Christians or any other faith for that matter, definitely not. Quite the opposite in fact, they always demand that their ‘religion’ be respected and that their religious requirements are provided.
If you are going to leave out the name of Jesus from Xmas celebrations you may as well give up celebrating Christmas altogether, which in fact they do in some places already, calling it ‘winterval’

… to be ‘more sensitive to the increasing diverse population at the school.’”
Of course that makes no sense, to be truly “diverse” means a tolerance for the views and beliefs of others. The real but unstated reason of course is that the rest of us must give up our sacred held beliefs for muslim bigotry. In the meantime they get special rooms to scrub their dirty little feet, extra prayer time that we would probably never get, and welfare benefits that most of us would be denied even though they’ve paid little if anything into the system. They are the victims even though they’re not; they are to be pitied even though we’re the ones getting terrorized, raped, and discriminated against. I think it’s worth mentioning that School administrators have never given a damn about the atheists’ POV but suddenly diversity is their primary goal, I guess cuz they don’t want to get murdered by some diverse-thinking muslim. Carols with the name “Jesus” are deemed offensive for the sake of diversity, never mind that such a view is offensive to Christians who see Jesus as the quintessential example of divine love and source of their salvation. Offending Christians’ religious beliefs for the sake of muslim sensibilities is deemed perfectly good and right, but asking muslims to be tolerant of those beliefs is racist, bigoted, and islamophobic. I guess we’re all supposed to feel bad for muslims because their “religion” is ignorant and violently bigoted, and somehow the rape of our kids and loss of our peace and freedoms was determined to be–without our consent–the proper response to that ignorance and bigotry. This is just one more example of muslims’ islamic jihad against us, and anyone who helps muslims in their jihad quest are dedicating themselves to a centuries-old tradition of murder, terror, and oppression, for allah. They may not actually be committing the murders and terror themselves, these traitors who help them, but they nudge that evil along with their own circle of influence and power. This puts them–in my mind–in the same category as the worst humans that have ever lived, as the combined effect of those traitors’ collective efforts results in the murder and suffering of so many, MANY, people.
Sleep well, traitors.
According to Allen, it seems as if “everywhere you look everyone’s afraid of stepping on someone’s toes or everything is being so sensitive.”
The obvious solution to that troubling paradigm is to foster an environment of tolerance and acceptance of everyones views and beliefs, unless of course they are obviously wrong like perhaps “slay the unbelievers” might be an example of inciting violence. Celebrating a religious figure’s birth but banning the mention of his name shows all too well the confused and feckless nature of those in charge, such action ends up insulting both Christians and muslims since it achieves nothing of real value with this condescending concession. If you truly want diversity then you must promote diversity with actions that support it, don’t promote bigotry by kowtowing with insincere concessions that have no substantive value and only insult the intelligence of all concerned. Or at the very least, cut the pretense that you are acting in defense of “diversity” when in truth you’re acting like defenders of bigotry, hate, and intolerance.
You’re supposed to be “educators,” for the sake of our students and human relations, please act like it.

I am an atheist and have been so for forty year. That’s never going to change. This year, for the first time ever, I am moved to buy a Christmas tree, put it up in our house, and decorate it with lights. I’ll send Christmas cards to my friends and wish them a “Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year”. I’ve always been lax about such things; maybe I got around to it, maybe I didn’t. But this year, given the brazen imposition of Islamic culture on Europe and the quite obvious aim to get Christmas abolished, I will spend of my money and display that tree by my window for all to see, adding to the spirit of Christmas on our street.
Islam destroys *everything* that is not Islam. If you’ve never wished people “Merry Christmas” before, or celebrated this beautiful winter-dispelling institution, now that it is under jihad attack and all around is capitulation, it might be a good time to share your love for and appreciation of your friends and family in this traditional Christian way.
No, I am not about to go to midnight mass. I’ve left Islam such a long time ago and still, year on year, I am further repelled by it. Islam ensures that I will keep well away from deities of all kinds. I’m helping to save something that is beautiful from a force that knows only how to destroy and brings only misery.
May you, your friends and your loved ones have a very Merry Christmas and a jihad-free New Year.

I suspect you would opt for dhimmitude, rather than fight Islam, since you’re ignoring the very purpose of this blog.
See those atheists you’re so quick to condemn? It is doubtful Islam even offers us conversion, let alone dhimmitude. The Qur’an doesn’t favour us as it does you. Oh, B.S. to the whole delusion. There’s nothing ‘inclusive’ nor ‘diverse’ about any of that tyranny.
Look, I’m Jewish. I don’t have any personal belief in the Christian messiah, but I am well aware of how it derives historically and there are many things we share as citizens of this nation, of this world. Christmas is their time for their holiday. I grew up around mangers, baby jesus’s, three wise men, et al, and I have no objection to our Christian culture celebrating it’s heritage. Historically, there was criminal prosecution for observing that holiday in Pilgrim times of the 1600’s. The centuries brought our culture to what it is today and I for one enjoy the thoughts of their holiday and enjoy wishing people ‘merry christmas’ if they are so inclined.
It’s not hard to wish people well, to be all that they would be, hope to be, to be enriched by the flavor of it all. Yes… we have our differences, but that schools idiocy is all too apparent. Whole towns have to listen to that caterwalling muslim call to prayer- which is a real, daily and total imposition upon all others. This Christian holiday festivity shouldnt be anything but a reminder of what christian people hope for…. it can be silently debated on peoples minds whether they are believers, observers, or simply neighbors.
It is nothing to complain about. This baloney talking of diversity is the exact opposite of what it pretends to desire: it is in fact, a fascist erosion of our liberties, of our culture and our judeo christian society that has traveled the roads that have brought this nation together in it’s republic. So, from this jewboy, currently celebrating his chanukah, to my christian neighbors, as tiny tim intoned ‘G-d bless us, Everyone’
Merry Christmas.

I am thankful that there came to be the Nation of Israel and the True God gave Laws and instructions for living. And His Son as He promised to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. And for the history being recorded so diligently and handed down so faithfully.
But, I no longer celebrate Christmas. Some of the songs…are beautiful and I listen and sing along.
If the kids and their families celebrate, and say, “merry Christmas,” to me, I am glad they have good thoughts toward me and I respond accordingly.
This thing at the school is a brazen attempt to stop people from acting on what they believe is making their life better and to squash their hopes for a future blessing. It is an attempt to take everything away from those who are celebrating and replace it with fear, despair, hopelessness. To take away the joy and exercise complete control.

But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come forth for Me One to be ruler over Israel, whose origins are of old, from the days of eternity. – Micah 5:2

The definition of “inclusive”…like that of “peace”…has changed. Now, it means to shut out all of what non moslims do and “include” everything that moslims do.
Since moslims don’t even respect Jesus Christ, much less believe in Him or worship Him, “Kiss the Son,” as the Psalmist wrote, they don’t “include” Him in their “belief or culture.” They, therefore, insist that He not be included in what others do.
moslims could stay away…as could any others who don’t want to participate with those who do believe in Jesus Christ…and not have to hear His Name spoken or sung. But, they won’t because they must insist on being “included” in something so they can limit what is included. They then demand that the things in which they don’t believe and don’t practice be eliminated, in order to be “inclusive.”
They are doing to Christmas…and to every other practice not demanded by islam…what they are doing to countries. The governments and laws of all countries must change in order to include everything moslims want and get rid of any laws and practices that moslims don’t want.
Little by little, inch by inch…has become, lots by lots…large enough to build a “center” for moslims to prey and plan…and mile by mile, until the entire world is groveling at their dirty feet. When they realized they could use the Laws and guarantees of the Constitution to gain the upper hand, and they increased in sufficient numbers, they set about working for the final takeover.
This Christmas concert carol at the school is one of their steps…next will be to eliminate the concert all together in order to not offend those who demand to be “included” …code for those who demand control.

From the very beginning, there was no room for Him in the Inn.
There is no room in most people’s hearts.
There is no room in public institutions that want to remain neutral and
thus refrain from honoring the one true God of the Bible.
And then He won’t be loyal to you when you need God either.
You can’t have Him without the second person of the Trinity; Jesus.
There is no room for the nativity scene in the ‘public square.’
There is no room for Jesus in this mostly evil world since He is from heaven
and most are on their way to hell.
When He returns, they have no choice. He purchased the earth with His blood,
then He will reclaim it and restore paradise based upon His victorious death and resurrection,
demonstrating His power over sin, death, the curse, the devil, and evil.
He alone is the victorious conquering heir who will reign forever!
He alone has the right to this claim over the earth to rule as King eternal!
And for those who made no room for Him…
there won’t be any room for THEM… in heaven!

It would be helpful to keep in mind that 75-80% of the people on this planet are not Christian and that many of the 20-25% are non-practicing. Insulting non-Christians on this site is counter-productive as is trying to convert them to your specific brand of Christianity.
The elementary school I attended in the 1950s was approximately 1/3 Jewish and yet we had a Christmas Concert with a choir that included Jewish kids among the participants. The carols we sang went from Jingle Bells to Silent Night and, as far as I know, no Jewish kid was converted or tainted for life. There’s something unselfish about not interfering with and even supporting another’s religious celebration. To my knowledge there were no complaints whatsoever. It’s all pretty harmless anyway.
If, on the other hand, the school authority feels that the mixture of students requires “toning down” the Christmas Concert by omitting carols they feel are too religious then more’s the power to them. Isn’t that the “Christian” thing to do anyway? AND it’s not that big a deal. The religious side of Christmas is more appropriately learnt at home and in Church anyway.
Anyone who is offended I am sure can be excused from participating. It’s their intolerance and their loss which we would hope new immigrants will overcome in time.
