Cowardice is pandemic today, and spreading everywhere.
The death penalty for apostasy is part of Islamic law. It’s based on the Qur’an: “They wish you would disbelieve as they disbelieved so you would be alike. So do not take from among them allies until they emigrate for the cause of Allah. But if they turn away, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them and take not from among them any ally or helper.” (Qur’an 4:89)
A hadith depicts Muhammad saying: “Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him” (Bukhari 9.84.57). The death penalty for apostasy is part of Islamic law according to all the schools of Islamic jurisprudence.
This is still the position of all the schools of Islamic jurisprudence, both Sunni and Shi’ite. Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, the most renowned and prominent Muslim cleric in the world, has stated: “The Muslim jurists are unanimous that apostates must be punished, yet they differ as to determining the kind of punishment to be inflicted upon them. The majority of them, including the four main schools of jurisprudence (Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi’i, and Hanbali) as well as the other four schools of jurisprudence (the four Shiite schools of Az-Zaidiyyah, Al-Ithna-‘ashriyyah, Al-Ja’fariyyah, and Az-Zaheriyyah) agree that apostates must be executed.”
Qaradawi also once famously said: “If they had gotten rid of the apostasy punishment, Islam wouldn’t exist today.”
“‘I was called a sl*t for taking off my hijab’: Student, 26, who renounced Islam reveals she still receives death threats for ditching the religion – and says hundreds more women are living in fear,” by Stephen Johnson, Daily Mail Australia, January 14, 2019:
A former international student who renounced Islam has revealed she receives death threats for leaving the religion and says hundreds of other women are living in fear.
Zara Kay, who moved to Melbourne in 2012 to continue studying information technology and engineering, renounced her Muslim faith after realising the religion she was raised with was, in her opinion, anti-women and anti-gay.
The 26-year-old Tanzanian-raised founder of the Faithless Hijabi support group said there were hundreds of ex-Muslims in Australia, who live in fear of being ostacised, abused or even killed.
‘Apostasy is punishable by death in 13 countries. It’s either Islam or death,’ she told her Instagram followers on Sunday.
She has stepped up her campaign to support people like herself, after Saudi teenager Rahaf Mohammed al-Qunun was granted asylum in Canada, after fleeing to Thailand fearing her family would murder her for leaving Islam.
Ms Kay began wearing the hijab when she was an eight-year-old girl growing up in Tanzania, in east Africa, as a Shia Muslim.
She removed the religious garment as an 18-year-old student at Monash University Malaysia, near Kuala Lumpur, after realising it was no longer a representation of who she was.
‘The first time I took off my headscarf and posted a photo, I was abused,’ she told Daily Mail Australia on Monday.
‘I was told I was a sl**. I was called names for just not wearing the headscarf.
‘It was just my hair and I was told that if I get raped, it’s my fault because I don’t wear a headscarf.’
Her journey towards renouncing Islam continued in Melbourne, where she continued studying at Monash University.
The former international student, who last year became an Australian citizen, is now an outspoken critic of Islam and Sharia law, as described in the Quran.
‘To me, hijab is a form of patriarchy and oppression. And that doesn’t mean that every woman I see with a hijab is oppressed, it just means the covering itself is a symbol of oppression,’ she said.
‘It’s clearly mentioned about wife beating in the book. It is a sin for a wife to say no to a husband when asked to have sex unless she’s got her period.
‘Sharia law talks about how women need to be covered and there are some many laws, they don’t fit in this day and age.’…
As an ex-Muslim living in Sydney, Ms Kay gets death threats from Muslims on social media who regard apostasy, or renouncing Islam, as a sin worthy of death.
‘Ex-Muslims are scared to talk about it,’ she said.
‘A lot of the politicians haven’t even addressed our rights.
‘They’re scared of offending religious feelings.’
Ms Kay slammed the term Islamophobia, arguing it was used to silence people like her who had renounced Islam.
‘It put us in a position where we’re unable to share our experiences,’ she said.
‘Free speech should never be suppressed, especially with minorities because it enables people to attack those minorities.
‘Ex-Muslims should continue to speak out and normalise conversations about their experiences and their thoughts about Islam.
‘We’re letting Islam have too much control over what we can and can’t say.’…
Or Else! says
So-called peaceful Muslims are also compelled by fear to keep quiet about this stuff….because they’d be classified as non-Muslims by the Islamists in their own communities.
For many, they may not believe, they may not act out Muhammad’s demands…but they know enough to keep their mouths shut…..or else!
Emilie Green says
“after realising [sic, realizing] the religion she was raised with was, in her opinion, anti-women and anti-gay”
Anti-human generally.
That comment speaks to a larger truth; namely, that most Muslims do not know what their religion teaches. And keeping Muslims riled/ginned up but ignorant is the decided aim of Muslim leaders.

Multi-culturalism is now paying rich dividends in the West!! Please continue inviting Muslims to your shores to improve your culture! (Sarc off)
tim gallagher says
Ain’t that the truth, Jaladhi. I believe that multiculturalism can work with groups of people who have a fairly tolerant attitude. I think that Christian and Buddhist Asians seem to make a positive contribution in Australia. How anyone can think that Muslims, that completely intolerant Islam, can fit in in any non-Muslim country is a complete mystery to me. So many people seem to know nothing about the hatred and vicious intolerance that Islam has, and has always had, towards all non-Muslims. It is insanity to keep letting Muslims into non-Muslim countries. It seems that most people have zero knowledge of the history of Islam or the nature of Islam. The non-Muslim world should be protected from Islam’s barbarity. Islam should be kept out. I agree with Emilie Green’s comment above, that Islam is “anti-human”. That’s surely exactly what islam is.

Agreed, Tim.

She’s a brave woman. Respect. She’s completely cut herself off from family, she can never go home. I hope she’s found a new home where she can flourish.

Our political masters are silent on matters like this for a very simple reason. VOTES.
They want to hang on to their high paid do nothing “jobs”.
And the easiest way is to suck up to the voters in your electorate.
And of course this now means large numbers of Musloids who are very vocal and as such the spineless politicians fawn to “these peaceful, misunderstood people”.

Muslims do not make up a majority of Australian voters, though.

I don’t let anyone control what I can or can’t say. I just say it, come what may.
If they censor me, or beat me, or whatever, I won’t shut up until I’m dead.

Anyway on that note…
Christianity is anti-homosexuality and that is good.
We hate the sin, love the sinner.
Just google for the Bible verses.
So many don’t get it that you can’t claim to be a Christian and support sodomy.
You can’t claim to be a Christian and not hold to the Bible. And the Bible
calls it a sin, so it is. So the steps are first, one is a Christian, second,
they then must uphold the Bible as God’s Word since that is the foundation
of the Christian faith. Without that it’s all up in the air. And you can’t pick
and choose since that’s the same thing as ‘all up in the air.’ Third, since
the Bible declares sodomy a sin, it is a sin. So a Christian must hold to
that view, clear and simple. I’m not advocating doing anything beyond
that, we know it and we don’t support it or compromise with sin by
condoning it in any way. That is all.

Knowing something is a sin, does not mean that a Christian will resort to violence against the sinner. We are told what to avoid and what is sin, and how to recognize good and bad fruit. However, we leave Judgment and the consequences to God. He Judges with love and mercy for his human children.
Angry Aussie says
Lydia this article isn’t about you or Christianity. Christians won’t kill you if you decided to leave Christianity. It is a little sad that you felt the need to preach a sermon to us all.
Your post appears little in difference to those that have no flexibility when interpreting the Qur’an. You are coming across as the Wahhabist version of a Christian and that is not a good thing.
This woman’s life is at risk. Your life is not at risk. Please don’t insult our intelligence by comparing yourself with this apostate to Islam.

Agree wth you Angry Aussie.
This article is SO not about Lydia or Christianity !
Here’s to you Zara K.
May you find love, friendship and fulfillment for your very courageous stand and the journey ahead… Don’t be troubled by judgemental Christians. You have enough to cope with without Christians heaping it on you too – for shame.
(I happen to be Christian.)

Anyway on that note… homosexuality is not limited to sodomy, fool. Nor is it any of your business. ALL religion is a mental illness; I can quote bible verses just as evil as koranic ones. What god demands you worship him or go to hell??? Sick!

okay, all you phony “brave” journalists and fake “brave” college students — Zara Kay is someone who really is brave — why don’t you follow her example.

Australia: Muslims threaten to murder woman for leaving Islam, politicians silent, “scared of offending” Muslims
Cowardice is pandemic today, and spreading everywhere.
…………………………
Yes, it is–and is just sickening.
Zara Kay is a brave young woman.
More:
‘It was just my hair and I was told that if I get raped, it’s my fault because I don’t wear a headscarf.’
…………………………
This is also orthodox Islam. The “holy texts” say that women should be veiled so they will “not be molested”–making it clear that they are fair game if they aren’t veiled.
Michael Copeland says
Memo to Stephen Johnson, Daily Mail Australia:
Muslims on social media “who regard apostasy, or renouncing Islam, as a sin worthy of death” do so because that is what Sharia law stipulates. It is not their personal choice.
Sharia also stipulates that there is no penalty for killing such a person vigilante-style because that person is “someone who deserves to die” (Manual of islamic Law, “Reliance of the Traveller” o8.4).
In Islam your brother (or sister) doubles as your executioner. This woman’s male relatives will regard her leaving Islam as a terminal challenge to their male supremacist ownership of her (misnamed “honor”) and will seek to kill her for that reason.
Indiana Tom says
She hit the nail on the head with the hammer.

A question for Ms. Kay….Just who or what community or society is “ostracizing” you?
Non-moslims and ex-moslims should not be “ostracizing” anyone who leaves the death, bloodlusting, evil cult.
islamphobia…a ridiculous word coined by the oic in order to silence *everyone* who speaks the truth about islam…not just ex-moslims. And freedom of speech is for *everyone* in order to keep tyranny at bay. And to get the Truth out for everyone to hear.
Freedom of speech has to come from the majority. If only those in minority groups have freedom to speak, everyone will suffer tyranny. She has left the cult, but so much brainwashing over so many years still affects her thinking. She needs to invite never moslims opposed to islam to her group to help her and the others like her to complete the escape.
And, it might be a typo, but the name of the university she attended in Australia is the same as in Malaysia. That seems to say that moslims have a big say in the country and a strong hold on the media. Much as it has come to be everywhere all over earth.
Angry Aussie says
She lives in Sydney. Lakemba and Fairfield are in Sydney. They have hugely dense Islamic populations. She would not only be ostracised by the Islamic community, but by a great many others who are supporters of Islam. The Leftist movement is alive and well in Australia and community support groups are sharia compliant.
I have a friend who is also an apostate to Islam. Her entire community and people she had grown up with, including close friends and family, have all cut her from their lives. They kicked her out into the street, in winter, at 10pm, with no money.
There are Saudi funded Islamic Studies Faculties at Australian universities.
She is incredibly brave for speaking out. Many don’t. Many die.
One Iranian woman converted to Christianity a few years ago. Her husband stabbed her in the neck with scissors and killed her.
somehistory says
Thank you, Angry Aussie, for answering. I wondered if she lived where even non moslims were mistreating her for leaving.
The entire world is an unsafe place to live as long as moslims are allowed to do as they please and if complaints are made, the one complaining is in further danger.
I met several young people back in the early ’90’s who had left islam and had to live in fear, and others who wished to know a different life, but had been unable to escape.
islam is evil, from beginning to end, inside and out.

Why are people scared of offending Muslims? What happens after someone feels offended? NOTHING, unless that person is Muslim which would then likely result in violence. React back the same way. Violence is the universal language of Islam. Peace? BS.
