It looks as if the New York chapter of the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) was caught napping on this one. Ordinarily one would have expected them to swoop in with charges of “Islamophobia” and make sure the sculpture stayed right where it was.
“Port Authority Removes Saudi Arabia ‘Candy Flag’ Statue on Ground Zero After Backlash,” by Davis Richardson, Observer, January 14, 2019:
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey will remove an art installation featuring a nine-foot tall statue of Saudi Arabia’s flag from the World Trade Center campus.
“We have been in contact with the 9/11 Memorial and various stakeholders, and in full collaboration with the artist will relocate the exhibit from its current location,” a spokesperson for the organization told Observer on Monday. “We believe this solution respects the unique sensitivities of the site and preserves the artistic integrity of the exhibit.”
Created by French sculptor Laurence Jenkell in 2011, the exhibit ‘Candy Nations’ depicts countries in the G20 Summit as candy statues, and has been featured at over 25 sites across the world. After Observer reported on its arrival at the World Trade Center, many Americans were shocked to discover a statue celebrating Saudi Arabia had been erected on the Ground Zero plaza—given the Kingdom’s alleged involvement in harboring terrorism, and that 15 of the 19 September 11 hijackers were Saudi Arabian.
“Having respectfully understood the art component of it, I was offended that Saudi Arabia was represented there, particularly that close to hallowed ground,” Tim Frolich, a permanently disabled survivor from the World Trade Center attacks, told Observer. “There’s no support out there for it from the 9/11 community.”
“It was pretty shocking,” added Brett Eagleson, who lost his father during the World Trade Center attacks. “For our family specifically, it hit home even more. My dad’s last words to us were that he was going up the stairs to grab radios to give to Port Authority.”…
“To us, to have the Port Authority allow Saudi Arabia around Ground Zero when Saudi Arabia is in the middle of a federal lawsuit in Southern Manhattan is just unacceptable,” continued Eagleson….
“The Port Authority is apparently now taking the right action this week by removing the sculpture from the plaza at Ground Zero,” reads a statement signed by 16 families affected by the World Trade Center attacks. “Its apparent plan to relocate the exhibit to JFK International Airport is questionable as well, for obvious reasons. But surely the sculpture should be nowhere near the site of this mass murder.”
WPM says
The candy should be deported out of America forthwith. Any place in America is not fit for us to bow down to this displace of supremist “art”. When those planes hit the world Trade Center and down at the Pentagon it was a blow to all good Americans not just to the poor families who lost love ones. Putting them at the airport is not a good move ,people traveling will have to be reminded that they too can die on a plane trip for the advancement of Jihadist causes.

Now I can breath again. You know how some things make you so mad you cannot talk about it, write about it, or even protest about it……it was too much But how was it EVER allowed? I remember just after it all happened, someone wanted an Islamic Center built there! And this is not the only thing that must be removed and yes, censored. I cannot believe sane people would ever say….like too many people do….’its ok, the devil has the right to free speech and to teach for his movement’ uh-uh…some things, even here (or ESPECIALLY here) are over the line. We have always had some restrictions and need them. The misunderstandings about what is real or logical has to be re-taught and its not just one US political party but BOTH sides and all in between.

It’s should be obvious that these sculptures represent the candy Muslims give out after a successful terrorist attack, especially with the Arabic inscription – a huge insult.

Actually, each of the countries at the G20 Summit were represented as candies–pretty stupid, but not in and of itself Muslim supremacist.

Wait. WHAT? These CANDY” pieces are EXACTLY the representations of what muslims hand out in CELEBRATION of a Jihad attack (Successful) in KILLING SOME people. I didn’t miss THAT the first time I saw the article showing and writing about how wonderful and “inclusive” the “artist” was in creating this OUTRAGEOUS piece of s, um “art.”

If it isn’t art, then it’s propaganda, and propaganda this most certainly is. Whoever suggested its relocation to JFK has either fallen back to Plan B, or doesn’t understand propaganda. One might consider the following future location of this cruel object:
2001: A Hajj Odyssey – To show that Islam is not a seventh-century tribal desert cult, “Islamic scientists” amass enough infidel knowledge and technology to be able to use their Indian and Philippine slave labour to construct a space craft. This coincides with an out of control wave of all kinds of haram selfies sent from the Kaaba that resulted in the Saudi authorities moving the Kaaba to the moon, in compliance with a recently-discovered Qur’anic fragment that states that the Hajj should be made to Hubal. In 2001 AH, 570 years after the Green Candy Prophecy, the first Hajj to the Kaaba on the moon takes place. When it gets to the Stoning of the Devil ritual, the pilgrims hurl moon pebbles at a large green candy sculpture bearing the inscription, “La-illaha-illallah-Muhammadur-Rasoolullah”. The sculpture is called “The Great Satan”, in reference to its originally-intended location. When asked to comment on how they accomplished this astonishing feat, Islamic scientists said merely, “It was HAL”.

They’ve been strangely cementing up a lot of grounds around the Kabaa. One video claimed it was in an effort to hide the fact that there was *nothing* historic supporting the Mohammed story to be found in possible archeological digs. But surely muslims would protest such lies and sacrilege and be digging rather than cementing? And now we have an unprecedented attack on the Kabaa by “strip everything bare” LOCUSTS!! Is it poetic justice, just like that boom that fell in the Kabaa on Sept. 11th one year?
A new theory has surfaced regarding the cement jobs and it seems to make more sense. When a liquid e.g. floods descend then shit (like cream) rises. Ever so distressingly there were stinky mudbaths on the grounds around and within the Kabaa and so cement arrived (sent down by Allah?). It seems that deserts don’t support the usual plumbing and instead pits are dug and droppings descend as in the good old days – only to resurrect themselves now when the rains fall and the cameras are watching.
The muslims no doubt feel this state of affairs is haram and are warring, as is their wont, with the temerity of Mother Nature.

It is amazing what nonsense is going on in the world, in the U.S.
For months, the news was full and overflowing with some so incensed over the fact that old statues and flags connected to the War Between the States were in various cities, they tore them down or demanded that they be torn down. These ones even insisted that names of streets be changed. Even though none of these people were directly affected by those people who had fought for the South in the war. Perhaps some of them could trace their families far enough in the past to know a family member had died in that conflict, but so many years have passed, they could not personally have known that one.
Now, here it is, less than twenty years from that terrorist attack, families having lost mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, husbands and wives, friends, co-workers, etc. And anyone of moral conscience living in the U.S. aware of the death, destruction and then the celebrations and lies that came after, is a “stakeholder” in what happened. Everyone in the country was affected that day.
And yet, this flagrant display of arrogance is honoring the very people who caused this mass death and destruction. It happened due to islam…and due to islam, this “art” has been given a place in public. It isn’t being removed all the way to saudia arabia…it is just being moved someplace else in the country to be displayed.
The airport is not appropriate. No more so than the Ground Zero is. There is only one appropriate place and that is under a smashing ball or jackhammer, pulverizing it. If not for islam, the attack would not have been. If not for islam, this “sculpture” would not be. islam should not be celebrated. isalm should not be depicted in a work of “art” with the object of honoring it. The lies inscribed are evil ones.
And those in the Port Authority should be thinking of what is *right* and moral and not what moslims want. What victim of violence wishes to have the weapon of pain and death displayed in a place of honor? What victim’s family wishes to have artwork displayed honoring the murderer? Common sense and honest thinking would say, send the “art” back to arabia in pieces.

It is a Port Authority Project . The Port Authority is its own government onto itself between New York and New Jersey. It is funded by bridge tolls, tunnel tolls and rent from the airlines for the airports and surcharges on airline tickets. So your bridge tolls, airline tickets surcharges are paying for Jihads , so pay the jiiza every time you pay a Port Authority bridge toll {I believe it is 8 dollars per axle for trucks and 12 dollars per car per trip into NY without EZ pass}. The people who “run” the Port Authority are appointed by the governors of New York and New Jersey State .They are in change of the airports in New York and New Jersey, the Bridges between the two states ,path trains, many bus terminals ,they hold and control large amounts of other real estate besides” transit centers ” in both states. They have billions of dollars in assets ,with thousands of employees .Try to get an answer on who wanted Jihad propaganda on display on their property (property that is not subjected to New York or New Jersey real estate taxes!!} and what it cost the car driving, train traveling ,plane flying and bus riding public??

the sculptor is some French airhead, Laurence Jenkell (with a man’s name).
“Laurence Jenkell is a contemporary French artist. Working primarily with sculpture, Jenkell’s practice obsessively revolves around a single motif: depicting larger-than-life wrapped pieces of candy using Plexiglas, resin, and cast aluminum. Referencing the appropriated commercialism of Pop Art and French New Realism, these sculptures have achieved widespread commercial success in the public sphere, with Jenkell receiving commissions by companies and events such as Coca-Cola, the rugby World Cup, and the G20 summit”

at best, her stupid bon-bons art with its light theme is a slap in the face of the seriousness of the 911 site, and at worst it’s a sly way to symbolize the candy celebration of islamic jihad as other comments said.

I would suspect that the initial placement of it at ground zero was intentional, and that it being moved to JFK as a backup plan is also intentional. I suspect there are a good number of Muslims, working for the Port authority. Never assume that something is merely a statistical accident when malfeasance is a better explanation.

Jenkells has been obsessive about candy sculpture for over a decade. Someone who commissioned the G20 grouping – or maybe someone later on – appreciated the possible slap in the face for America (the artist herself may not have had any inklings). It’s just too fittingly gross for it to wind up on the grounds of 9/11 by accident. What’s surprising now is to see articles and posts about its removal revealing that neither writers nor posters are even AWARE that the GREATEST part of the insult is not just that it is a Saudi flag with the Shahada but that it is a WRAPPED CANDY plunked on the grounds LIKE A GIFT TAG or THUMBING OF THE NOSE. Some articles instead like to imply that it is people from “alt-right” sites who are the only ones being so VERY, VERY OFFENDED. Bad (but informed) dhimmis!
jule says
Why would she do this? She isn’t Muslim unless a convert. Was she hired, commissioned to make exactly this celebration/victory themed, slap in the face piece? By who? She lives in France? she couldn’t be THAT dumb, could she? If USA had proper media education, it would never have been allowed in this country let alone ground Zero 9-11 dedication. How to get the public educated without rags no one takes seriously. I get all out of shape when I cannot make sense of something. The questions dog me. I have this need to know.
