Of course they had the highest percentage of approved petitions. The government didn’t want to appear “Islamophobic,” and sacrificed the well-being of these girls to that fear.
Islamic tradition records that Muhammad consummated his marriage with (i.e., raped) Aisha when she was nine, and the resultant fact that child marriage is accepted in wide swaths of the Islamic world. Child marriage has abundant attestation in Islamic tradition and law.
Turkey’s directorate of religious affairs (Diyanet) said in January 2018 that under Islamic law, girls as young as nine can marry.
“Islam has no age barrier in marriage and Muslims have no apology for those who refuse to accept this” — Ishaq Akintola, professor of Islamic Eschatology and Director of Muslim Rights Concern, Nigeria
“There is no minimum marriage age for either men or women in Islamic law. The law in many countries permits girls to marry only from the age of 18. This is arbitrary legislation, not Islamic law.” — Dr. Abd Al-Hamid Al-‘Ubeidi, Iraqi expert on Islamic law
There is no minimum age for marriage and that girls can be married “even if they are in the cradle.” — Dr. Salih bin Fawzan, prominent cleric and member of Saudi Arabia’s highest religious council
“Islam does not forbid marriage of young children.” — Pakistan’s Council of Islamic Ideology
Hadiths that Muslims consider authentic record that Muhammad’s favorite wife, Aisha, was six when Muhammad wedded her and nine when he consummated the marriage:
“The Prophet wrote the (marriage contract) with Aisha while she was six years old and consummated his marriage with her while she was nine years old and she remained with him for nine years (i.e. till his death)” (Bukhari 7.62.88).
Another tradition has Aisha herself recount the scene:
The Prophet engaged me when I was a girl of six (years). We went to Medina and stayed at the home of Bani-al-Harith bin Khazraj. Then I got ill and my hair fell down. Later on my hair grew (again) and my mother, Um Ruman, came to me while I was playing in a swing with some of my girl friends. She called me, and I went to her, not knowing what she wanted to do to me. She caught me by the hand and made me stand at the door of the house. I was breathless then, and when my breathing became all right, she took some water and rubbed my face and head with it. Then she took me into the house. There in the house I saw some Ansari women who said, “Best wishes and Allah’s Blessing and a good luck.” Then she entrusted me to them and they prepared me (for the marriage). Unexpectedly Allah’s Apostle came to me in the forenoon and my mother handed me over to him, and at that time I was a girl of nine years of age. (Bukhari 5.58.234).
Muhammad was at this time fifty-four years old.
Marrying young girls was not all that unusual for its time, but because in Islam Muhammad is the supreme example of conduct (cf. Qur’an 33:21), he is considered exemplary in this unto today. And so in April 2011, the Bangladesh Mufti Fazlul Haque Amini declared that those trying to pass a law banning child marriage in that country were putting Muhammad in a bad light: “Banning child marriage will cause challenging the marriage of the holy prophet of Islam, [putting] the moral character of the prophet into controversy and challenge.” He added a threat: “Islam permits child marriage and it will not be tolerated if any ruler will ever try to touch this issue in the name of giving more rights to women.” The Mufti said that 200,000 jihadists were ready to sacrifice their lives for any law restricting child marriage.
Likewise the influential website Islamonline.com in December 2010 justified child marriage by invoking not only Muhammad’s example, but the Qur’an as well:
The Noble Qur’an has also mentioned the waiting period [i.e. for a divorced wife to remarry] for the wife who has not yet menstruated, saying: “And those who no longer expect menstruation among your women, if you doubt, then their period is three months, and [also for] those who have not menstruated” [Qur’an 65:4]. Since this is not negated later, we can take from this verse that it is permissible to have sexual intercourse with a prepubescent girl. The Qur’an is not like the books of jurisprudence which mention what the implications of things are, even if they are prohibited. It is true that the prophet entered into a marriage contract with A’isha when she was six years old, however he did not have sex with her until she was nine years old, according to al-Bukhari.
Other countries make Muhammad’s example the basis of their laws regarding the legal marriageable age for girls. Article 1041 of the Civil Code of the Islamic Republic of Iran states that girls can be engaged before the age of nine, and married at nine: “Marriage before puberty (nine full lunar years for girls) is prohibited. Marriage contracted before reaching puberty with the permission of the guardian is valid provided that the interests of the ward are duly observed.”
According to Amir Taheri in The Spirit of Allah: Khomeini and the Islamic Revolution (pp. 90-91), Iran’s Ayatollah Khomeini himself married a ten-year-old girl when he was twenty-eight. Khomeini called marriage to a prepubescent girl “a divine blessing,” and advised the faithful to give their own daughters away accordingly: “Do your best to ensure that your daughters do not see their first blood in your house.” When he took power in Iran, he lowered the legal marriageable age of girls to nine, in accord with Muhammad’s example.
“US govt approved thousands of child bride requests,” AP, January 12, 2019 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):
WASHINGTON: Thousands of requests by men originally from other countries, including Pakistan, to bring in child and adolescent brides to live in the United States were approved over the past decade, according to government data obtained by AP news agency. In one case, a 49-year-old man applied for admission for a 15-year-old girl.
The approvals are legal: the Immigration and Nationality Act does not set minimum age requirements. And in weighing petitions for spouses or fiancées, US Citizenship and Immigration Services goes by whether the marriage is legal in the home country and whether the marriage would be legal in the state where the petitioner lives.
But the data raises questions about whether the immigration system may be enabling forced marriage and about how US laws may be compounding the problem despite efforts to limit child and forced marriage. Marriage between adults and minors is not uncommon in the US, and most states allow children to marry with some restrictions.
There were more than 5,000 cases of adults petitioning on behalf of minors and nearly 3,000 examples of minors seeking to bring in older spouses or fiancés, according to the data requested by the Senate Homeland Security Committee in 2017 and compiled into a report.
Some victims of forced marriage say the lure of a US passport combined with lax US marriage laws are partly fuelling the petitions.
“My passport ruined my life,” said Naila Amin, a dual citizen from Pakistan who grew up in New York City. She was forcibly married at 13 in Pakistan and applied for papers for her 26-year-old husband to come to the country.
“People die to come to America,” she said. “I was a passport to him. They all wanted him here, and that was the way to do it.”
Amin, now 29, said she was betrothed to her first cousin Tariq when she was just eight and he was 21. The petition was eventually terminated after she ran away.
She said the ordeal cost her a childhood. She was in and out of foster care and group homes, and it took a while to get her life on track.
“I was a child. I want to know: why weren’t any red flags raised? Whoever was processing this application, they don’t look at it? They don’t think?” she asked.
Over that period, there were 5,556 approvals for those seeking to bring in minor spouses or fiancées, and 2,926 approvals by minors seeking to bring in older spouses, according to the data. Additionally, there were 204 approvals of applications by minors seeking to bring in minor spouses….
USCIS didn’t know how many of the approvals were granted by the State Department, but overall only about 2.6 per cent of spousal or fiancée claims are rejected.
Separately, the data show some 4,749 minor spouses or fiancées received green cards to live in the US over that same 10-year period.
The country where most requests came from was Mexico, followed by Pakistan, Jordan, the Dominican Republic and Yemen. Middle Eastern nationals had the highest percentage of overall approved petitions.

This story is absolutely the best reason to NOT allow more Moslems into the United States of America.
Deny all of them entry, NO exceptions.
I do not want them in my country.

It’s a good reason but not the best. The best reason is that Islam is a conquest ideology.

These are not the kind of people who should be allowed into the US, for God’s sake!
The immigration policy we adopt should perhaps be this:
The US should institute a moratorium on immigration from any nations that do not protect freedom of religion or freedom of speech.
An advantage of that policy is that it does not single out any religion, ethnic group, or nation and therefore would not run up against the wall of the First Amendment. The policy would
1) put pressure on authoritarian states, such as China and Muslim-majority nations, to liberalize and secularize;
2) It would put pressure on Europe to stop punishing speech “crimes” and to start protecting full freedom of speech;
3) it would prevent the US from allowing people who do not believe in freedom of religion or freedom of speech to gain a significant citizenry toehold in the US where they would be able to exert increasing influence to open the immigration door even wider to people of authoritarian religious belief. It would not discriminate against Muslims, however, because if the nation from which they come does protect real religious freedom and freedom of speech, their population would be eligible to apply to immigrate to the US.
The policy could of course consider certain exceptions, such as for Ph.D’s needed by US industry or military, and such as for seriously oppressed individuals who themselves support basic freedoms and reject violence.

Eduardo….Freedom of religion and Freedom of speech isn’t enough. There are many other areas that should be considered in allowing entry into the U.S. but for sure…No multiple wives and No child marriage, just to mention a couple……multiple wives (REMEMBER THE YOUNGER A WIFE IS…THE MORE CHILDREN SHE CAN HAVE BEFORE SHE IS NO LONGER SBLE TO one reason for child brides…get an early start..) and
slave wives are three ways that Muhammad set up to produce more Muslims and the Muslim population here in the U.S. is exploding. Can one see why.???
There is no Muslim Army marching in our streets..so there is no way they can use FORCE upon us…but there are many OTHER ways they are attacking us…from political to breeding to whatever they and us will allow
.Those in charge don’t get it and we the people aren’t doing much either..
somehistory says
“Whoever was processing this application, they don’t look at it? They don’t think?” she asked.”
**********************************
Perhaps the person processing the request **does look at it** but the law ties their hands…or their supervisor does…or perhaps, they are afraid of being labeled a bigot, racist, or guilty of having a “phobia.”
If the girl is making the request, how is the person processing it supposed to *know*…even if they do “think,” that the girl doesn’t really want it to be honored? Are they mind-readers? Perhaps if they deny the request, the girl will then accuse them of discrimination and bigotry, or a “phobia’ and the person loses their job.
There would need to be a change in the law. No allowance for “marrying” a child to an adult. The laws in other countries don’t usually apply in the U.S., so why should the laws on “child brides”?
A person can’t legally drink alcohol until they reach a certain age…even if they have their parent’s permission. So why is “marriage” different? The “marriage” is going to last a lot longer than a can of beer and the damage is horrific for these children.
And yes, I know people become addicted to alcohol at young ages, but legally, they aren’t supposed to be drinking and that is my point. The law, so far, doesn’t allow an adult to rape a child and go about his daily routine; he’s charged with rape. Allowing an adult to rape a child every day until the child dies or escapes and calling it “marriage,’ is wrong.

I think some Moslems feel that early age marriage helps the cause of demographic jihad. (plus the emotional comfort of family reunification) What these izlamomorons don’t recognize is that extreme early age pregnancy is dangerous for mother and child. Also inbreeding is very dangerous too. And it is better for child, mother and society if mother is educated. Education prevents one from becoming exploited. There are dangerous people in the world. If the mother is educated she will be able to better protect herself and her child. One would hope that the father of the child and the husband of the wife will also provide protection. But we must remember Islamic cultural norms and standards are very different from the rest of the world:
“A man should marry four wives: A Persian to have some one to talk to; a Khurasani woman for his housework; a Hindu for nursing his children; a woman from Mawaraun nahr, or Transoxiana, to have some one to whip as a warning to the other three.18 The mention of so many nationalities in the sayings show that obtaining wives and concubines through all kinds of means – capture, purchase, enslavement – was in vogue among medieval Muslims.” from http://www.bharatvani.org/books/mssmi/ch12.htm
Comparte and contrast with Ancient Arya Ideals:
http://aryan-myth-and-metahistory.blogspot.com/2007/03/hieros-gamos-aryan-sacred-marriage.html
The word myth is interesting: Osho says in the West myth is something that is regarded as fiction whereas in India it is assumed mythical stories are rooted in historical truth.

There is no “emotional comfort” in being raped as a child.
Prabh108 says
You misunderstand me: I am saying if the young child is surrounded by loving family members in a safe non war torn country then yes, there is emotional comfort in family reunification. Obviously there is no comfort whatsoever in early age marriage: extreme early age marriage is very dangerous for the child and for society.
Maybe some of these people are just trying to get vulnerable girls out of war zones -parts of the world are in shambles due to wars created by greed for inexpensive oil and expansionist ideology of moslems and jews etc.
The world is very complicated due to competing ideologies. But no government should allow for the young girl child to be married to an old man: this perverse practice of old men marrying young girls has no place in the world anymore. Look at the singer Celine Dion – she was very young when she married her elderly french arab manager.
Why do persons of different generations marry – what could they have in common? The woman might end up widowed if her husband is 25 years older or so. One ought to prevent the miseries of widowhood if possible. Huge age difference between spouses is abnormal. Always there are exceptions, but generally speaking it doesn’t make sense for a huge age gap between husband and wife. It is unfair for the children also to have parents who belong to different generations – more conflict likely in the family if the parents are not emotionally stable in their marriage.

Um–right. So poor Muslims really just want to rescue their little girl relatives, but are being forced to instead rape them by the evil Americans? What tripe.
And then note that Prabh is pretending that Jews are responsible for the Jihad violence in Dar-al-Islam. Just sickening calumny.

Virtually every single country in the middle east has expansionist fantasies:
SaudiArabia-Yemen; Palestine-Israel;Iran-Iraq etc. Russia still has the Afghanistan fantasy alive in their hearts (warm water port) and of course Pakistan has high hopes to take all of India. Plus the Kurdistan separatists. And separatism in every region of India. Who benefits the most from this chaos? China. Tibet is the big loser.
Israel is tiny and cannot support the entire Jewish population of the world. This is why Israel ideally would love to expand her borders also. I’m not blaming anyone. I’m just trying to make sense of what is going on – because I would like to see a stable world that is free from all forms of slavery. Certain creeds make it very difficult for people to be free. I am very concerned about islamic migrations. I can see that moslems would like to establish an international caliphate: I would like to prevent the izlamoCalipahte from being formed because I cannot live life as a dhimmi. Dhimmitude is a form of slavery.
Mere survival is not enough. We must thrive. I am determined to live a fun-filled life. This is the moslem ideal: “there is no fun in islam” (ayatollah)- this is unacceptable to me. Jews are similar: one prominent Jew businessman (can’t recall his name) once stated the following in a newspaper interview: “happiness is not the purpose of life” -I was appalled to read this. To me happiness is important. Happiness is the starting point of yoga. I strive to live life in accordance with yogic ideals. Attaining Knowledge is one of the basic principles of yoga. Yoga is not just about stretching and wearing yoga pants. Strong morality is the root of yogic life: Live and let live. (semitic creeds are quick to condemn the ‘other’ to hell. How easy it is to condemn others to hell – is this not spiritual terrorism condemning others to eternal hell? How will such people enjoy heaven if others are suffering in hell? If people are happy my happiness increases. I would like to see all the hells emptied out – Raja Janak achieved this task of emptying all the hells. He is the father of Sita from the Ramayan.
Moslems of Iran are now encouraging their fellow semitics/abrahaminics (xtians) to utter death threats against America as reported at this website yesterday: this is illegal behaviour-Uttering death threats is a violation of International Law. But Moslems only accept ShariaLaw. It is impossible for the world to function if different people are following different legal standards.
For jew and moslem: happiness and fun is unimportant. For me happiness and fun are very important. So yes, I am concerned that sorrow, disease and slavery still exist in this KaliYuga. I will never accept semitic nonsense. Never. Life is for bliss. (Bliss attained through hard and smart work is good- not the pleasure that is acquired through the misery of another.)
RamKhushiAnand: Pleasure for body, Happiness for Mind and Bliss for Soul – -these are my ideals – not just for self but for every creature everywhere. Freedom and liberty is important in order to bring to fruition the ideals of the great American Transcendentalists (Emerson, Whitman,Thoreau).
Everyone and their dog wishes to reach the shores of America – why can’t people create these freedoms in their ancestral homelands also?

Yes, it is simply awful, gravenimage. Once again can be seen that ignorance of evil is at least as effective (actually more so) in the promotion and extension of evil than evil itself is.
Islam is superb at gaming “the system” of non-Islamic nations, especially Western nations which just assume, quite erroneously, that the Islamic world is into “fair play” as Western nations are. But nothing could be further from the truth.
I bring up Ayn Rand again who asserted time and time again that ignorance of evil is actually worse than evil. It prolongs evil “better” than evil itself can. So, the sin upon the willfully ignorant of wickedness even more so than than the wicked themselves.
Like you, I hate Islam. I also hate excuses for Islam, whether proffered by Mohammedans or kuffaars.
I would close here by noting that particularly egregious are Western feminists who continue to turn a blind eye to what the female is subjected to where Islam “reigns.” Rather, they stupidly want to talk about things like “toxic masculinity” and just how awful Western men are. Couldn’t get more stupid and off base if you tried.
Wellington says
One “than” and not two “thans.”
Obviously, I am overdue for a beer, which, I might add, would not exist if wonderful Islam had its way—and neither would great music, equality under the law, freedom in general, women’s rights, romantic love, fun in general, advanced scientific and technological achievements like a cure for polio, railroads, the telegraph, the telephone, TV, computers, satellites, cars, planes—oh yes, it is a very long list of what mankind would not have if Islam had ruled all the world for the past five hundred years.
To every Muslim reading this and to every non-Muslim apologist reading this, hang your head in shame and, while I’m at it, I’d like to say to all such people, up yours. Now for that beer.
gravenimage says
I’m just horrified by this, Wellington. And yes–the enabling of evil can be as bad as the evil itself.
Rand also said, “I saw that evil was impotent—that evil was the irrational, the blind, the anti-real—and that the only weapon of its triumph was the willingness of the good to serve it.”
What the hell were these people with the US government thinking when they approved these requests? Didn’t they think about what this meant–that they were enabling child rape?
Wellington says
The “corner of corners” has not yet been turned, gravenimage (as I know you know).
The first step in effectively dealing with Islam here in America or in any non-Islamic nation, and especially in Western nations—irrespective of whether one wants to declare it not a religion at all or a religion but a malevolent one—is to comprehend, which comprehension should have occurred by now, that Islam, all of it, is iniquitous and just about the most massive mistake, if not THE most massive mistake, that the human species has ever “produced.”
Not there yet with so many non-Muslims. So many. A very large amount actually. Damn.
And as long as this persists, Islam retains the advantage. Damn.

I must admit that I am also disgusted of both child marriage and the US government allowing it. I read that historically the government made Mormons stop polygamy and break up those former extra unions as a condition for US statehood. They recently went after a breakoff polygamy bunch in Texas for marriage to underage girls and threw the men in jail. Yet, Muslims get a pass. Does this mean that now underage polygamy is legal in the US if it is a religious doctrine? If so, why are those guys still in jail? Pure hypocrisy….
If it’s evil by US standards, it’s evil regardless of religion. If Muslim men want to bring child brides here, they are both law-breakers and should be deported, pronto.
On a more light note: Doesn’t the picture above remind you of those carved Russian doll sets that fit inside each other? I always wondered where the idea for the outline shape originated.
Kepha says
We recognize homosexual marriage and transgenderism as rights. We drive the Roman Catholics out of managing adoptions in Illinois and DC because of these things (I am not RC, but recognize they do a number of fine charitable works). I am sure that a number of children adopted from abroad by same sex couples will probably end up seduced and trafficked (to say nothing of our native-born vulnerable children, as in the Frank Lombard case). Hence, our whole legal establishment has undercut any reason to bar Islamic child marriages and polygamy from pouring in. Watch for Reynolds v. US being voided in the none-too-distant future, if it hasn’t been already.
I’m not happy about saying this. Our legal-media-government complex may still find Rulon Jeffs and his Mormon splinter disgusting; but they’ve committed to seeing some Ali or Hassan or Muhammad bringing in a pre-teen girl to join his earlier threesome as cool, multicultural, liberal, broad-minded, and everything good. We are in trouble.
