This will likely be the end of JihadWatchVideo, since the social media giants and the entire Leftist establishment have wholeheartedly signed on to the spurious claim that opposing jihad mass murder and Sharia oppression of women, gays and others is “hate.” Of course it is actually a matter of simply standing for justice, but these social media giants allow for no appeal in matters such as these.
“YouTube Will Crack Down on Toxic Videos, But It Won’t Be Easy,” by Issie Lapowsky, Wired, January 25, 2019 (thanks to Marc):
YouTube is trying to reduce the spread of toxic videos on the platform by limiting how often they appear in users’ recommendations. The company announced the shift in a blog post on Friday, writing that it would begin cracking down on so-called “borderline content” that comes close to violating its community standards without quite crossing the line.
“We’ll begin reducing recommendations of borderline content and content that could misinform users in harmful ways—such as videos promoting a phony miracle cure for a serious illness, claiming the earth is flat, or making blatantly false claims about historic events like 9/11,” the company wrote. These are just a few examples of the broad array of videos that might be targeted by the new policy. According to the post, the shift should affect less than 1 percent of all videos on the platform.
Social media companies have come under heavy criticism for their role in the spread of misinformation and extremism online, rewarding such content—and the engagement it gets—by pushing it to more users. In November, Facebook announced plans to reduce the visibility of sensational and provocative posts in News Feed, regardless of whether they explicitly violate the company’s policies. A YouTube spokesperson told WIRED the company has been working on its latest policy shift for about a year, saying it has nothing to do with the similar change at Facebook. The spokesperson stressed that Friday’s announcement is still in its earliest stages, and the company may not catch all of the borderline content immediately….

It’s time for conservatives to develop a conservative network for communication that does not impose censorship. I personally hope legislators will consider applying anti-trust laws to google, youtube and twitter as well as Microsoft if they refuse to support the First Amendment.
They are imposing Sharia blasphemy law, thus making Islam the de facto OFFICIAL RELIGION of GOOGLE, YOUTUBE, TWITTER and MICROSOFT.
Do the BOARDS OF DIRECTORS of those companies know that they are actually endorsing ISLAM AS THEIR DE FACTO RELIGION?

Does anyone know FOR SURE ….Are sharia minded Muslims running Microsoft, Google, You Tube Twitter, Facebook and others in the same category????? Anyway it seems that they are.
THERE ARE NO AIRCRAFT OVERHEAD DROPPING BOMBS ON OUR CITIES ….NO TANKS GRINDING THEIR TRACKS THROUGH OUR STREETS …NO STOMP OF BOOTS MARCHING IN OUR STREETS…OUR CITIZENS ARE NOT BEING DRAGGED FROM THEIR HOMES AND BEHEADED OR ENSLAVED OR WORSE…….YET WE ARE UNDER ATTACK…SOMETIMES BY OUR OWN OTHER TIMES BY THE ENEMY…
Who is the enemy???….Anyone or any group , military or not, Who tries to change, rewrite, or otherwise abort our God given rights or mandated law given rights as set up by our forefathers in a constitutional government.
With what’s happening today it should be easy to determine who the ENEMY is. Communism, Socialism, Islamism, (and maybe a new word) Complacencyism, to name a few..
Are we just going to sit on our butts with arms folded and do nothing?
Leon Degney says
That is what we are expected to do it seems. Just sit dow shut up and accept whatever ratbag plan, law or whatever other crap hatches between their ears.

For videos, I found Bitchute the best alternative so far. It can be linked to your YouTube channel, so new YouTube uploads automatically appear on your Bitchute channel. Bitchute uses an innovative decentralised network where users are encouraged to seed videos instead of just like videos. There are many channels mirrored on Bitchute already.
Noel says
Yes,Shane, and there is Pewtube.com. No censorship.
KWJ says
@Mortimer. It isn’t just conservatives who need safe anti-censorship places. Do you think everyone who comments here are conservatives? I sure hope you don’t or then this makes Jihad Watch look like some right-wing club.
Liberals traditionally have cared more about free speech than conservatives. It’s the Leftists who have gone off the rails. I’m socially liberal and an atheist, issue by issue politics.
Dislike of Islam and wanting freedom applies to anyone. I say this because of people who seem to assume there are all conservatives or Yeimp lovers or such reading JW. It does no good to promote political views, besides Trump isn’t doing anything to ameliorate the Islam problem nor is he stressing free speech in our media. A president and defenders of free speech should be getting on the case of social media. They themselves might need it someday even though they don’t like opposition, and those who can’t handle opposition are power-hungry and a bunch of authoritarians and not supportive of the 1st Amendment.
Twitter has gotten to be disturbing. They have a group of overseers one of which is CAIR folks. They are called something like an advisory board which of course means they’re biased. Some feminist group is on it too. Now Pakistanis!

The paradox is, I get a ton of great information from YouTube videos. I watch Stefan Molyneux, Red Ice, the David Wood – Muhammad Hijab debate, Wood and Spencer discussing the debate, etc, etc.
A huge problem is, these mega-tech companies are run by sociopaths who don’t really care about anything we would value. The owners of Amazon, Google, Facebook, Twitter, are 10 times as wealthy as George Soros (who is ten times as wealthy as Donald Trump; there may be something to the progression). Once corporations get this big, something seems to happen: they become globalist, and seem to care as much or more about offending an imam in Pakistan as in maintaining a universal forum for discussion and information.
Anti-trust laws don’t mandate the breakup of monopolies, but they do prevent (theoretically) monopolies from using their position of monopoly to shape the market. In other words, in my opinion, when YouTube shuts down an account, preventing access to the follower list and archived videos for a content provider, YouTube is targeting customers for the purpose of injuring them. I can’t think of anything more illegal.
I don’t generally use the YouTube videos of Jihad Watch (except for debates and discussion with David Woods). I read JihadWatch and buy all of Robert’s books (and read them carefully). But, I make it a point to make regular donations to content providers that I particularly like. I think the future of free thought and discussion is not in tweaking the free humongous tech giants with pinprick regulation, but in finding a customer base willing to pay for information and integrity in the news, information, and opinions they read.

I wish Mr. Spencer was mistaken. These purges are always biased by ad revenue. The removal of “offending” videos that have high click rates will be delayed while low click rate “offenders” will be quickly removed. This is the meaning of “..the company may not catch all of the borderline content immediately….”
Greed is the bottom line of all corporations that have public shareholders. Now, if Jihad Watch had some famous singers, semi-nude dancers, vulgar rappers, or, Amy Schumer and Sarah Silverman with their potty-mouths……
Is this what diversity really means – more profit vehicles, anti-patriotism, and dependent, de-potentialized voters?
ntesdorf says
Westman makes a very good point here. High click rate sites may be safe for a long time. Money drives.

YouTube to crack down on “borderline content” that comes close to violating its “community standards” but doesn’t
………………………..
I guess they realize that there would be some pushback if they actually spelled out their bias–so they are just working around their own supposed “standards”. Just despicable.
Joe says
The social media companies hide behind the DMCA, but if they take sides, the DMCA can’t be used.
Besides DMCA, they can’t show bias against a protected group. For example, they can’t be biased against a religion. They can be biased against a non-protected group if they explicitly state their discrimination (e.g., “No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service”).
Social media companies say that they don’t have an opinion of what others publish or their sites, but we are seeing that is not true. About 30 of my Youtube channels are banned. As far as I can tell, most of them were within the community guidelines. The idea that Youtube is not biased, is getting pretty old and thin.
I have a Facebook account, but I never use it, because I figure I would immediately lose it, if I expressed my opinion.
R Cole says
More of the same!! What’s interesting is that since they started banning people, you find you end up watching videos on new sites.
Some people posting on these sites, haven’t been kicked off youtube, but had some videos demonetized for little or no reason. Independent journalists, both on the Left and the right, are the new target for censorship and shadow banning. And some are spreading their videos, across different video sites, just in case the censorship ax falls on them.
Brighteon, which used to be real.news’ founder, started the site after his videos were banned or restricted on youtube. There is a lot of health related stuff, and Alex Jones. He says he won’t permit the video streaming of games, but other content is allowed. [If he took digital ads, selectively on his platform, Brighteon could be a contender. Not sure a physical shop selling health food, to fund the platform, will do it.]
There’s also Bitchute. With more popping up every time you look.
The Left love to say, diversity is our strength. Well, diversifying away from the Left’s ideologically controlled platforms is going to be our strength.
Max says
What they really want to do is to eliminate any comment that doesn’t agree with their socialist ideology or that in any way dare to suggest that some Muslims are violent, that they hate non-believers and treat women like objects to be used for pleasure.
Max says
I would suggest that what is happening here is the fault of us, Conservatives, and that we must deserve what is happening to us. If you disagree, then tell me: How on earth did we allow us to be fully dependent on these socialist organisations to communicate our thoughts and ideas? How come we allowed schools, Universities and other vital organisations to be infiltrated by socialists that are now in control?
Lydia Church says
This is that principle about if you retreat, they invade, so don’t leave a void unless you want the enemy to fill it. The old offensive vs. defensive tactics.
Max says
Couldn’t agree more.
jay says
We need to call them what they are: the Morality Police. I recommend we popularize the term, which describes the religious police in Iran and other Muslim countries that beat women for not being veiled enough or holding hands or whatever. google and facebook and twitter are being MORALITY POLICE. Spread the word.
Leon Degney says
MeWe could be a viable alternative to Facebook.
Lydia Church says
In other words… they are removing the boundaries of what they censor… the borders of the rights of freedom of speech are being encroached upon… and as a result… the walls are closing in.
Anything they don’t like is fair game. And they already laid the foundation with a thousand excuses like ‘the common good,’ ‘cooperation,’ ‘safe spaces,’ ‘hate speech,’ etc. They want to coerce everyone into their agenda without any dispute, debate, dialogue, discussion, dissent, or critical thinking. Don’t let them take over your mind and autonomy. They gain consent by brainwashing people into thinking that this is what they want, and that is accomplished by the endless propaganda campaigns and other means to achieve global control and manipulate the population. Then the rest is easy for them.
