What could possibly go wrong?
“Austrian court axes decision to shut down mosques,” by Askin Kiyagan, Muslim News, February 16, 2019 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):
VIENNA (AA): A court in Austria annulled a government plan to shut down six mosques belonging to the Arab community, a Muslim body said late on Thursday.
In a statement, Umit Vural, head of the Islamic Religious Community of Austria (IGGO), said that the Vienna court annulled the government’s decision to close six mosques.
He added that courts have an important role to play in a period when populism is dominant.
Yes, to annul the will of the people and enforce the wishes of the political and media elites.
Last year, Chancellor Sebastian Kurz’s far-right government in Austria decided to shut seven mosques and expel tens of imams.
During a news conference, Kurz said the move came as part of a crackdown on “political Islam”.
Kurz said that the investigation by the Ministry of Culture and Interior had found out the activities of seven mosques — one of them belonging to the Turkish-Islamic Cultural Associations (ATIB) — unlawful.
Shutting down of mosques belonging to the Arab Religious Community last year was ruled illegal by the Vienna Administrative Court.
Religious Affairs Minister Gernot Bluemel of the conservative People’s Party (OeVP) said he did not understand the court verdict.
“We will use all options to curb political Islam, its aberrations and radical tendencies in our society,” he told Austrian press agency APA….
Renate says
Someone should tell the Austrian Administrative Court that Islam is a complete way of life, not a religion.
Terry Gain says
Yes, it is a supremacist, totalitarian, poltical, conquest ideology. And for non-Muslims to accept it as a religion is suicidal. Religions do not command killing, nor do they exercise authoritarian control over secular life or have carnal paradises.
Renate says
Muslims just want to have their cake and eat it, too. John Guandolo says that they teach their kids that Islam is a “complete way of life”, but when they want to institute Sharia laws, they claim religious discrimination if the West doesn’t want to accept Sharia laws. It’s too bad the West doesn’t pick up on this trickery.
Terry Gain says
Yes, it’s very disappointing that so many otherwise intelligent people accept that Islam is a religion. It’s suicidal.
The European says
“Religion is a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.” This is the broadest definition of what religions are. Religions are not so much about morality, their main purpose being the linking of human beings to the invisible, supernatural and eternal world. Morally connoted ideas such as “good and evil, ” “bad and blissful” might well be referred to religions, but religion itself itself goes far beyond the concepts of morality. This spiritual world which the believer is tapped into consists of ones own ancestors ( like in shintoism), of totem-animals, demons and benevolent spiritual beings ( like in shamanism), of demi-gods and other deities ( like in Roman, Greek and Hinduistic polytheism), humans may try to harness the powers of the invisible world to enhance their own power ( like in white or black magic), or there is just one god ( like in Judaism, Christianity and Islam). In the past, some religions allowed for human sacrifices – the Aztecs, the religons of the Celtic, Germanic and Slavonic tribes which are the ethnic make-up of Europe and the West. All three major monotheistic religions condemned and outlawed the practice of sacrificing humans to the gods from the very outset. Almost all religions had or have a moral code, but there are huge differences as to the value of these codes. Polytheistic, tribal and totemistic moral codes, according to which the sacrifice of humans to placate the gods is permitted, are morally inferior to monotheistic religions which came into being when humanity had reached a higher degree of civilization. Islam- you may like it or not- counts among the religions which reflect a higher civilization, but, regarding its moral code, it has the lowest rank among the monotheistic religions, since Islam is not predicated upon the universal Golden Rule, but upon a dualistic moral mode – a set of moral principles which apply only to Muslims, and another set of laws and rules for the non-Muslims, usually disfavouring the unbelievers and being indicative of Allah’s hatred of the non-Muslims.
The abolition of human sacrifices and the introduction of higher moral codes to religious beliefs can be considered as efforts made by human beings to humanize religious cults and practices, and, although Islam is not totally alien to this process, it is still a far cry away from the moral heights to which Judaism und Christianity have attained.

In the Western mind a ‘valid’ religion is necessarily spiritual. There is a connection between ethical and spiritual life. Eastern religions like Buddhism and Advaita Vedanta recognize this and as Sam Harris states in his book Waking Up, “Making progress in one domain lays a foundation for progress in the other.”
My own conclusion is that if a ‘religion’ is without sound ethical precepts then it’s on a par with paganism or voodoo, and there is no laudable reason for us to excessively burden our fellows with its pathologies. Sebastian Kurz thus stands on the higher ground.
Sam Harris states “The world is in desperate need of improvement – in global terms, FREEDOM AND PROSPERITY REMAIN THE EXCEPTION…” He goes on to encourage everyone to investigate Mindfulness and contemplative insights “for ourselves, without accepting the metaphysical ideas that they inspired in IGNORANT AND ISOLATED PEOPLES OF THE PAST…nearly every geographical or linguistic barrier to the free exchange of ideas has now fallen away. It seems to me, therefore, that EDUCATED PEOPLE NO LONGER HAVE A RIGHT TO ANY FORM OF SPIRITUAL PROVINCIALISM. The truths of Eastern spirituality are now no more Eastern than the truths of Western science are Western…we need to investigate contemplative insights for ourselves.”
Sam also wrote “As manuals for contemplative understanding, the Bible and Koran are equally useless.”

I’ve written this before, g.
Our Creator is not going to allow His creation to be totally taken over by evil. He gave the earth to mankind…not to satan and his demon hordes, nor to those who worship satan and do his bidding.
Jesus said that the “days would be cut short…for the chosen ones…or no flesh would be saved.” He will “cut short the days’ of this current evil in order for His children to survive. I have faith in this, even if others think it is up to man to stop this scourge.
If this scourge…called a religion…is allowed to continue operating because they are guaranteed freedoms due to being called a religion, then how can man stop it? If the laws of man are written and enforced to “protect” all “religions”…no matter how evil the religion is, then man is unable to prevent the evil from continuing. satan the devil is the source of the evil, the power and the spread of islam. The devil won’t stop…God has to stop this demon. Because the devil won’t stop, neither will his human children and neither will his demon hordes.
Man cannot stop the devil and demons. And the only way to stop the wicked people, those doing evil things, is for them to be dead. Since their “belief” is protected by man’s laws, how will man come to see that the evil ends? They cannot. It is up to God, and Jesus Christ said the time for the wild beast is limited. (Revelation 13)
gravenimage says
Good people *have* stood against the incursions of Islam before, Somehistory. I do believe we can do so again.
And there being freedom of religion does not mean that we have to let Muslims wage violent Jihad against us, or impose brutal Shari’ah law on us. Our laws don’t allow them to do so–we need to start vigorously enforcing our laws.
somehistory says
g,
You say “we”… The Constitution does say “we the people” but “we” don’t have the power and authority to put an end to islam. “We” don’t have the power to stop molsims from coming into the country, or for those already here to engage in terror, or to have kids who will engage in terror.
Look at all of the times that “we” here have been outraged that someone got away with such things as FGM,…remember the case of the “doctor” in MI who was mutilating the little girls and the “judge” threw out the case… or they perpetrated a “hate crime” against themselves and didn’t suffer any consequences from law enforcement for their lying…, for two examples.
I’m not in government. Most people aren’t. but just look at some of those who are…with some authority to do things right…and their fight is all uphill and gets defeated by the “courts” or other politicians. Mr. Turmp has political power, but the others in government…and in the courthouses…are pretty much keeping him from doing enough to stop the hordes from pouring into the country. He wanted funding for a wall to keep out terrorists…he didn’t get it. He wanted a travel ban and time and again, the courts struck it down.
It is not against any law for moslims to run for office. It is not against the law for them to seek seats on court benches. It is not against the law for moslims to fly on aircraft, pilot aircraft, drive buses, operated on patients, work in hospitals, prepare food, become police officers, etc.
moslims were elected to congress some years ago….carson and the other guy…and now there are even more. And molsims are sitting on the “bench” in courthouses all over the country and will “rule” accordingly. And some of us, me included, believe that o-what’s-his face is a moslim…managing to be in the oval office for eight years…no law against another one being elected.
As a human who tries to remember I need humility, I recognize that I have very limited power to do anything that makes any real difference. I can try to help others understand how terror groups work, ways they may be able to recognize dangers, and to know the dangers of ilsam and its adherents. But, I cannot change the government; I cannot keep moslims out. And, as long as there are moslims in other countries, they can wiggle and sneak and slide and slither into this country. And it does matter that they call islam a “religion,”…because that makes them entitled to Freedom of Religion protections. And just remember….several states have tried to make “new” laws that would keep the unlawful evils of islam out of the country and courts….and many of them have been defeated as “targeting moslims.” The laws that would serve to prosecute “doctors” for performing FGM…are falling short in the courts.
As I said, I am a person of faith. I have faith that God will do something about islam at just the right time, in just the right measure and… along with the evils of islam… will go the other evils in the earth, and there are so very many.
gravenimage says
Everything you say is true, Somehistory. But sometimes we have more power than we think.
For instance, re FGM, one of the frequent posters here–a CGW–started a petition that pressured the Mayo Clinic to fire a Muslim doctor who openly championed FGM:
“Mayo Clinic fires doctor who said female genital mutilation is an “honor” for women”
https://www.jihadwatch.org/2012/05/mayo-clinic-fires-doctor-who-said-female-genital-mutilation-is-an-honor-for-women
“…longtime Jihad Watch reader CGW saw that report on Jihad Watch and sprang into action, contacting the Mayo Clinic, where Elhagaly was employed, and starting a petition…”
You are right that we are not the government–but in a democracy we have the power to influence the government, if enough of us stand up. We can also support candidates who have at least some understanding of the Jihad threat. That was at least part of the reason Donald Trump was elected.
I agree that we should not exaggerate the power and influence we have–but neither, I believe, should was assume that we are powerless.

“Preaching ‘political Islam’ in a mosque!” What an absurd and odd use of words.
For the term used by many in the West in current times is “political Islam” That term is, in reality redundant. This is because Islam is in essence, a religious /political Sharia law based system. As so well explained in brief way, by the Muslim tyrant who and ruled Iran, Ayatollah Khomeini when he stated that “All Islam is politics.” [1]

Those six mosques as well as those many other mosques in the nation of Austria are just too many of such Islamic buildings for that Western country of Europe.
The reason that this is so is because the construction of the many mosques in both in Austria and the other nations of Europe not only means that more people of Austria and the other countries of Europe are now being proselytized to Islam. This may be disturbing enough. In addition, this mass construction of mosques on in Austria and the other European countries have still a further meaning which has been explained by a former Muslim who is now a Christian, Dr. Daniel Shayesteh, in his book ISLAM THE HOUSE I LEFT BEHIND for in page 99 it informs the reader that “The mosque is vital for establishing Muslims as sovereign over non-Muslims in a non-Islamic society or country. Building a mosque in a non-Islamic society or country symbolizes Islam’s claim over that society or country, even with a non-Muslim majority.”
ntesdorf says
Perhaps with the aid of suitable legislation, the Austrian government might find a way to shut down all the mosques in Austria on the grounds of their daily teachings about violence to Dhimmis, Jews and Christians. Six mosques closed would have been good, but all is much better. The blood of future Jihad will rest on the hands of the Judges.
Michael Copeland says
“A mosque, as former professor of Islamic law, Sam Solomon, explains, is NOTHING LIKE A CHURCH. Every mosque is modelled on Mohammed’s first mosque in Medina. It is where military training takes place, where punishments are decided, where jihad plans are made and expeditions launched; it is a court, a school, a forum where news of sex-slaves can be exchanged, and where a market can be set up for forged passports and the like. It is an assembly space where tabs can be kept on others: members can observe who is failing to attend; pressure can be put on any brother whose daughter is not wearing Islamic attire, or being too Western. It is a place for reinforcing Islamic apartheid. Non-muslims are NOT PERMITTED in the worship, where the fiery sermons instructing hatred are given. “Between us and you enmity and hatred forever…” says Koran 60:4, part of Islamic law. The mosque is the place for furthering Islam’s commanded mission — to make all people everywhere Islamic, by force if needed, in the commanded Global Caliphate.”

…………………,
I don’t specifically know about Charles Martel and Jan Sobieski, although I do know that Islam was considered an evil religion by virtually all Christians at the time.
As for Winston Churchill, we have actual quotes. This, from The River War, 1899:
Winston Churchill 1899: “Individual Muslims may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world.”
You will note that he specifically refers to Islam as a religion. You will note that although he considers Islam a religion, this *does not* mean that he considers it a good faith.
That does not, of course, mean that you have to agree with Churchill on this or any other issue.
More:
Do you think God commands people to kill people and that God provides a carnal paradise for people who kill for him? And that God chose an objectively evil man as his prophet?
Satan is not God. And worshipping Satan or his facsimile is not a religion.
You have stated on numerous occasions that you hate Islam. Why would you hate a religion?
…………………,
Terry, you seem to be using “religion” in the sense that any religion must come from God and be completely true–in which case, Islam is *not* a religion.
But here is the definition of religion from the Mirriam-Webster dictionary:
Definition of religion
1a : the state of a religious
a nun in her 20th year of religion
b(1) : the service and worship of God or the supernatural
(2) : commitment or devotion to religious faith or observance
2 : a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices
3 archaic : scrupulous conformity : CONSCIENTIOUSNESS
4 : a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith
…
By this standard, Islam is indeed a religion–especially the 4th definition.
When the First Amendment talks about religion, this is the definition it uses.
I do not consider there to be anything good, true, or holy in Islam–*just the opposite*, in fact. That is why I can say I hate Islam.
But if anyone takes the stand that Islam is not a religion, they will not get anywhere, since Islam has been regarded as a religion for well over a millenium. Note that this *has not* prevented good people from opposing Islam and its horrors.
You don’t have to regard Islam as a faith, if you don’t want to–but you will be taking that stand largely alone, which I believe will do little to help the cause of Counter Jihad.
I very much respect you as an Anti-Jihadist, Terry–I just think that trying to make the case that everyone has been wrong about Islam being a religion for centuries is not a particularly fruitful stance to take.
Indiana Tom says
Most people in the West have problems with religions being evil and therefore a religion in the first place. I suppose religions can be evil, but not by our own usual Western standards. Personally, I really consider Communism, Evolution, Nazism, Marxism, and even forms of Atheism to be religions, but most people would not consider these as such..

There is a verse in the Bible that says, “Their god is their belly.” In the Bible, is also the verses that describe a person cutting down a tree, using some of the wood to cook his meal and some of the wood, he carves into a “god” he can worship.
Basically, if someone “worships” something or someone, they have a “religion.” The word “religion” does not mean that what is worhsipped is truly a God, nor does it mean that what is worshipped deserves to be.
islam is an all-consuming cult, a false religion. Much like those David Koresh and Jim Jones started, because the adherents are expected to cut themselves off from other people and adhere to the ‘words’ of one individual person…like koresh and Jones, or the mass murdering raper of children who is said to have written an unholy book of evil. Just because islam also involves them demanding all others bow to their beast, and just because they get involved in politics, doesn’t make them a non religion….they still ‘worship their false prophet and are willing to die for what he said. Like some of the adults with koresh and jones.
islam is evil and teaches falsehoods about God. That makes it a false religion.

g,
I have not written that we are “powerless”….but our power is limited. Man will not overcome the evil. Man will not defeat satan’s influence in the world. We can defeat the demon personally, but we cannot defeat his influence over others. Others make the choice to serve and obey the demon instead of serving our Creator.
Therefore, our Creator is the One Who will defeat satan and his influence entirely.
You take this tack every time I write the “Good News” that God will defeat, destroy permanently, all evil and we will not be plagued any longer by the evils of islam. I don’t really understand why if, as you say, you have faith. The Bible clearly spells it out for us. We “fight the fine fight of the faith,” and God and His Son will destroy satan and his demons and they will remove evils from the earth so that we are not surrounded any longer by those things. We will then know real freedom.
Rational, moral humans don’t like war and one main reason is…it kills the innocent along with those who are trying to kill the innocent. God can eliminate the evil without killing any innocent persons. This is what He is going to do. We must oppose the devil and wait on God to defeat the demon snake entirely. We do what we can, but the major portion will be done by our Father in Heaven.
