The shirt specifies that the wearer is against “pedophilia, rape, wife-beating, slavery, homophobia, misogyny, violence against women and children,” and more.
Is Cambridge University for those things? Or does Stephen Toope (I do hope his email address starts with “stoope”) believe that none of those things have anything to do with Islam? Unfortunately, all too many Muslim spokesmen will point to the texts and teachings of Islam to justify just those things, as we have illustrated here many times.
So what did Jordan Peterson do wrong? And also, if I pose for a photo with a man wearing a Boston Red Sox hat, does that mean that I am suddenly a Red Sox fan?
And Cambridge is a prestigious university.
“Jordan Peterson: anti-PC scholar dropped by Cambridge over Islamophobia shirt,” by Rosemary Bennett, The Times, March 26 2019:
Cambridge University withdrew a visiting fellowship from the controversial psychology professor Jordan Peterson because he was pictured with a man in an anti-Islam T-shirt.
Stephen Toope, the vice-chancellor of Cambridge, said yesterday that the “casual endorsement by association” of the message was “antithetical” to the work of the Faculty of Divinity, which had made and then rescinded the offer of a two-month fellowship.
Professor Peterson posed with his arm round the man wearing an “I’m a proud Islamophobe” T-shirt last month. The faculty became aware of the photograph early last week, Professor Toope said. It coincided with Professor Peterson going public with the news of the fellowship, which he said on his YouTube channel he would be taking up in the autumn….

Cambridge is now AIR-BRUSHING HISTORY … All Islam’s flaws, warts and ugliness are simply brushed away!
Message for Cambridge: Islam is 22 cults in one:
-a death cult, a rape cult, an honor-killing cult, an extortion cult, a plunder cult, a censorship cult, a misogyny cult, a lie cult, a pedophilia cult, a sadomasochistic cult, an obsessive-compulsive cult, a supremacism cult, a Jew hatred cult, a Christianophobia cult, a male chauvinist cult, an inbreeding cult, an obscurantism cult, a superstition cult, a personality cult, a cruelty to animals cult, a group-think cult, a suicide cult.
Has Cambridge already signed up?
Wellington says
Bet if he posed with a guy wearing a t-shirt that said “Christianity sucks” nothing would have been done about it.
A la Orwell, all religions are to be treated equally except that one religion, Islam, is to be treated more equally than all others. And never mind that just since 9/11 over 34,000 documented Islamic terrorist attacks have occurred as opposed to virtually none by followers of any other major religion in the name of their religion.
And also never mind that the Koran has 109 verses in it calling for war to be made upon non-Muslims until all the world is Islamic, as opposed to 0 verses in the New Testament calling upon Christians to wage war upon non-Christians until all the world is Christian. Yep, just ignore all this, unless of course you’re an Isalmophobe.
Care, lebel, to once again state your tedious and deceitful assessment that regular commenters here at JW are the stupid, uninformed ones and, by implication, that pointing out how dreadful many Islamic doctrines are (e.g., death for apostasy) is of no relevance? Yeah, post again, lebel, so that all those of sense and knowledge who criticize Islam can see once again that all you have is criticism of the critics without ever addressing the many malevolent and dysfunctional doctrines of Islam, another one being that all non-Muslims are the equivalent of human waste and deserve, at best, second-class status under Islamic law wherever Islam has the power to implement Islamic law. Go for it, deceiver.
CRUSADER says

That’s not why they dropped him. They dropped him because they view popular speakers who are NOT on the left as mortal enemies, and after spending God knows how many man hours looking for a “gotcha” they finally sort of found one. Jordan Peterson is hated by the left so much because he is truthful, precise AND famous. The best the left can do with such a person is to gin up the Ad-Hominator and, if possible, eliminate their presence from the internet. They will ruin another person’s life over trivial disagreements and go berserk over important ones.
Or Else! says
I would have to think that the Cambridge University Islamic Society had something to do with this. Ha!
How dare Peterson pose with a man whose shirt explains why he’s Islamophobic?
Islam is always correct–logic and facts be damned…OR ELSE!
Book bans, speaker cancellations, calls of blasphemy, censorship, de-monetizing, de-platforming, shadow bans, et al, are totalitarian in nature.
And Trump’s the bad guy. Right.
eduardo odraude says
Ultimately, they dropped him because of fear of violence from jihadists. If it were only about leftist insults and criticism, there would be much more resistance to attempts to censor criticism of Islam. We live in a culture where safety is put above principle, because few people in leadership have strong principles today. Perhaps the only thing that saves us, for now, is that we live under a system of laws developed over centuries and originally based not only on security, but also on principles such as freedom of speech. I suppose many in the UK leadership say to themselves “why should I resist? Who will back me up? Hardly anyone. I’ll just be fired, maybe killed, I’ll have to walk around watching my back for a while, perhaps I’ll have to worry about my children or my wife. I’ll have trouble getting work, maybe I’ll have to move to the US.” Etc.
eduardo odraude says
In short, leftist slander would have relatively little power if it were not backed by jihadist death threats and violence. And we should all know by now what happens to public critics of Islam. They get lots of death threats, they often need professional security, and some of those death threats are quite serious.
eduardo odraude says
But it should also be noted that, at least in the US, some very strong public Islam-critics, even without much in the way of security or secrecy, have survived a long time without being physically attacked, though no prominent public Islam-critic has escaped getting numerous death threats.
There are obviously some serious threats. David Wood’s wife reports that one day FBI agents, apparently concerned for some reason at that moment about Wood’s safety, came to Wood’s house and asked to see him. He was sleeping, so his wife would not let them actually put eyes on him, though they repeatedly asked to be permitted to do so in order to verify he was there and alright. So apparently the FBI was watching out for Wood. Makes one wonder what was going on with the other FBI agent who seems to have encouraged a jihadist to attack the Draw Muhammad contest. The jihadist could have killed Spencer, Geller, and anyone else there (Geert Wilders had already left the event when the jihadist attacked). The attacker was quickly killed by the event’s hired security, but not before one of the security people was injured.
Leon Degney says
In my opinion any death threat is serious, but the left running the show would rather silence and try to eliminate the truth tellers. They go as far as trying to actually starve them out of existence. They are a pathetic, miserable lot. The appeasing of Muslims over the Christchurch shootings was a fawning sickening sight, while the deplatforming of people who voice their opinions oner the dangers of Islamisation is equally as pathetic and sickening.

So, perhaps he’s not a “bad guy.”
Max says
Robert, why are you surprised that for Cambridge or any other university for that matter, virtue signalling is far more important than the inconsequential activities that Muslims embark on, such as pedophilia, rape, wife-beating, slavery, homophobia, misogyny, violence against women and children?
gravenimage says
Cambridge University drops Jordan Peterson for posing for photo with man in “proud Islamophobe” t-shirt
…………………..
So now Cambridge is for pedophilia, rape, wife-beating, slavery, homophobia, misogyny, and violence against women and children? Just sickening.
mortimer says
Exactly. Cambridge is giving Islam a free pass on its sickening core teachings.
Islam is SICKENING and should be BANNED, rather than banning people who criticize those sickening teachings.
How much BRIBERY is Cambridge receiving from wealthy Arabs?
CAMBRIDGE IS SELLING ITS INTELLECTUAL INTEGRITY TO A MISOGYNISTIC DEATH CULT.
Wellington says
I would argue, mortimer, that Islam does not need to be banned but “only” exposed.
CRUSADER says
Banning Islam would be like *banning* an idea.
It could be fruitful to do so for awhile, but it would make
too many young folks (who don’t know any different) curious.
What is so great about that tack to take
— of *exposing* Islam for what it is —
is that it doesn’t change, it is fixed, and so
what is a target of derision now can always be
a target of derision, cause adherents can’t alter it
and the word of Mohamhead has to be followed to the letter.
Thus, our fight now can still linger and be picked up in the future
against the Islamic ideology recycled by a future generation of lost souls.
gravenimage says
Agreed, Wellington and CRUSADER.
Paul J says
As Dr Bill Warner says, it’s not the religious aspects of islam that’s the problem, they are and should be free to worship who or what they want, but the Political doctrine that they demand we all live by that is the problem. That’s is what should be banned; like communism/socialism.
mortimer says
Agree with Wellington about NOT banning Islam or other ‘ideas’ … I should have phrased this thought better … for instance:
“It would make MORE SENSE if Cambridge banned Islam instead of banning Peterson, since Islam is 22 cults in one:
-a death cult, a rape cult, an honor-killing cult, an extortion cult, a plunder cult, a censorship cult, a misogyny cult, a lie cult, a pedophilia cult, a sadomasochistic cult, an obsessive-compulsive cult, a supremacism cult, a Jew hatred cult, a Christianophobia cult, a male chauvinist cult, an inbreeding cult, an obscurantism cult, a superstition cult, a personality cult, a cruelty to animals cult, a group-think cult, a suicide cult. Thus, Islamic teaching are UNDENIABLEY IN OPPOSITION TO if not actually AT WAR AGAINST the idea of open discussions of ideas at a university.”
Giacomo Latta says

I wonder if Peterson realized the kind of reaction he would get for posing with someone wearing a t-shirt like that? Did what Cambridge did surprise him? I doubt it.
Peterson might be the kind of person prepared to be martyred if need be to stand up for his views. He said a while back that he was prepared to go to jail rather than obey some proposed Canadian legislation curbing free speech.

It’s okay to study at Cambridge as long as it is a STEM major eventually leading to a license in the life sciences or engineering where very good jobs are plentiful.
Generally speaking, if you study liberal arts as your major you are literally throwing your money away – and you will get indoctrinated in leftist/Marxist propaganda, political correctness, etc.

And this ditty:
“was “antithetical” to the work of the Faculty of Divinity”
…. well then there can be no ‘divinity’ there, because God has no fellowship with islam
and in fact is opposed to it, 100% against it, for hundreds of reasons, the first of which
is that the koran is contradicted by God’s true Word; the Bible in literally hundreds of
verses!
But there is no room for the true God of the Christian Bible in the modern church or its para-church organizations.
So he was too good for that place and it was their loss.

It is an excellent T-shirt because all those people in civilised, western countries, who spend their time defending barbaric islam are, indeed, defending pedophilia, wife beating and all the other garbage that Islam considers to be fine, which the T-shirt lists. This is certainly the reason I loathe islam, oh, along with the calls for Muslims to “kill the non-believers (such as a Christians like me, and Buddhists, etc) wherever you find them”. Naturally enough, that is the main thing about Islam that I object to. This T-shirt could confront some of those fools who defend Islam with the stark reality of what they are defending. It may make them go and look into Islam and find out how barbaric it is. I find this idea that many people in the western nations seem to have, that all cultures are OK and all are just fine,( even when, like Islam, they stomp on so many human rights) completely baffling. It is amazing watching this protection racket, this abject surrender, universities and other institutions run for Islam, which has values that they should vigorously fight against. Surely, we all have to wake up and fight for decent human values against barbarism.

Whitcoull’s ban of Jordan Peterson’s book and the ‘guilt by association’ image of Peterson with the man in the Islamophobe tee-shirt is hypocritical by New Zealand’s own standards.
A highly vocal member of the New Zealand Green Party, Golriz Gahraman, has promoted her international status as a lawyer. A qualification enhanced by further study on human rights law at Oxford University.
There is a much publicised photo of her and the genocidal criminal she chose to defend in Rwanda.
https://www.stuff.co.nz/nat…
So guilt by free association in this case is given a free pass and Jordan’s happen-chance photo with a tee-shirt wearer among others is not.
The wheels of New Zealand’s socialist politics are greased by emotivism and hypocrisy.

I’m just wondering if you could come up with a better definition to replace the current “Islamophobia” definition. Fear and phobia are synonyms, but perhaps it could be toned down a little. How do the words “Islamodistrust, Islamorervulsion or even Islamoloathing ” sound. There are probably anothe forty or so synonyms that could be used but none that I consider would send the correct message. An antonym such as Islamobravery or Islamocourage couldn’t really be used because in my opinion those words convey a totally wrong meaning. Perhaps you are able to help out here. As far as I’m concerned fear of Islam is not irrational.
