Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on his visit to the White House witnessed President Trump sign a proclamation that the U.S. officially recognizes the Golan Heights as Israeli territory.
Israel captured the Golan Heights from Syria in the 1967 Six-Day War and annexed it in 1981. This was no different from the situation of many lands that were conquered in war. Israel must keep control over the Golan Heights for its survival.
As President Trump stated:
After 52 years it is time for the United States to fully recognize Israel’s Sovereignty over the Golan Heights, which is of critical strategic and security importance to the State of Israel and Regional Stability.
The Golan Heights is Syria’s “only land border with Israel” and has “occasionally been struck by missiles and other forms of fire from Syria in recent years, with Israel retaliating against Syrian and Iranian targets.” Ongoing threats from Syria, Iran and its proxy Hizballah also make it urgent that Israel maintain control over the Golan Heights.
Yet despite these facts, Canada issued a statement that it “does not recognize permanent Israeli control over the Golan Heights,” thus siding with the anti-Israel U.N. and abandoning Israel. In so doing, it is tacitly supporting jihadi interests while hiding behind its self-proclaimed adherence to “international law” as its justification for doing so.
In trying to appease supporters of Israel, Global Affairs added that Canada remains “a steadfast friend” of Israel, saying: “We stand with Israel and support Israel’s right to live in peace and security with its neighbours.” These words give the illusion of support, but standing with Israel means supporting it in its ability to defend itself from obliteration.
Government of Canada, “Statement on the Golan Heights,” Global Affairs Canada, March 25, 2019:
“In accordance with international law, Canada does not recognize permanent Israeli control over the Golan Heights. Canada’s long-standing position remains unchanged.
“Annexation of territory by force is prohibited under international law. Any declaration of a unilateral border change goes against the foundation of the rules-based international order.
“Canada is a steadfast friend of Israel. We stand with Israel and support Israel’s right to live in peace and security with its neighbours.”

He has no such power but it does not mean he doesn’t have his flunkies doing his dirty work for him.

Trudeau prays and preaches in his mosques. Infidels are NOT allowed to pray in any mosque, only Muslims. That means only one thing, he is Muslim. That is why he volunteers with and gives our money to Islamic Relief and has gifted Hamas Canada / NCCM with about $125 million. He also introduced M-103, a motion to ban free speech.
Muslims are threatening, killing, murdering and attacking Jews all over the world. Hundreds every day. For safety and to save their lives, Jews are migrating to Israel. Like in any family, when a home gets too small for more family members, the house must be expanded. This is happening in Israel. When Muslims stop attacking Jews, they will be safer and not need to escape to Israel.
If Muslims put down their weapons there would be peace. If Jews put down their weapons there would be genocide. Trudeau defends and supports Muslim terrorism. It is obvious that Trudeau dislikes or even hates Jews and panders to Islam. This is now shown in his treatment of women.
Trudeau is dangerous. Trudeau is offensive.

To some, in fact, to many, the stance taken is not necessarily the right one, but whichever one seems to be the most expedient, or the safest.
With Israel being a very small nation and the number of Jews who support Israel being fewer than the moslims who support islam and moslim countries, those “leaders” in various non moslim countries may see it as dangerous to support the little nation, even if they wanted to do so.
The current government of Canada seems to lean ever more toward appeasing moslims and allowing their wishes to direct the law, capitulating to their demands. They may feel it is too dangerous to be seen giving any real support to Israel, only saying that Israel has a “right to live in peace and security,” not that they have the right to ‘fight for peace and security.’

I detect projection on your part respecting your stupidity comment, lebel. As for Obama being a secret Muslim, many regular commenters here at JW have not averred this. I for one have not. What I have said is that it is pretty much irrelevant whether Obama is Muslim or not because his slavish suck-up to the Islamic world had the same effect regardless of his personal religious status. I mean a Muslim apologizing for the worst religion of all time or a subservient dhimmi doing so is essentially a difference without a distinction. Have a nice day, lebel.

Obama’s father was indeed Muslim. For a lot of Muslims, this is enough to consider someone to be Muslim.
Then, his step-father was also Muslim, and Obama accompanied him to Mosque as a child in Indonesia. He was also registered as a Muslim at school there.

Not long ago he implied that Jews were not real Russians. In an interview with NBC News, Putin said that Russians who allegedly interfered with the 2016 US presidential election perhaps are “not even Russians,” adding “Maybe they’re Ukrainians, Tatars, Jews, just with Russian citizenship”.

Demonstrating again, as if anymore proof is needed, that the nation of Canada is not on the side of truth and liberty as long as a sad-ass excuse of a person like Trudeau is PM.
The same could be said for my nation, America, while the worst President in American history, Barack Obama, was at the helm.
Fools at the helm of a nation, especially free nations, is never a positive and those who come after them have the job of cleaning up all the mess they have made. Trump has gone a long way in doing this after the disaster which was the Obama Presidency (examples being nixing many executive orders by Obama restricting businesses and pulling out of the worst deal ever made by an American President, i.e., Obama’s nuclear deal with the theocratic, tyrannical regime of Iran). And the same will hopefully be done after Trudeau is defeated at the polls in the upcoming Canadian election.
Better occur, because another five years or so of Trudeau could ruin Canada forever. Rather like what would have happened if that horrible excuse for a person as well as a Presidential candidate, one Hillary Clinton, had prevailed over Trump (even though the weaponized FBI, CIA and Justice Department, courtesy first and foremost of one Barack Obama, did their biased best to prevent Trump from winning over The Bitch).
On a more expansive note, those who know full well what Islam intends for us all must also grasp that the Western Left must be opposed as much as Islam is. These two massive errors, i.e., modern Western Leftism and all of Islam through its 1400 year history, could be enough to destroy the civilization, i.e., Western Civilization, which explored the parameters of liberty as no other civilization ever has. If this occurs, it would be the darkest hour in all of mankind’s history, though authoritarian regimes like those in China and Russia would relish such an outcome (you gettin’ any of this, christianblood?—of course you’re not).

Speaking of immigration policy, its chief characteristic in the US should be that, without mentioning any particular religion, the policy institutes a moratorium on immigration from any nation that does not protect freedom of speech and freedom of religion. The policy could make exceptions for dissidents, oppressed minorities (if they respect freedom of religion and speech), and perhaps for scientists. The immigration policy described would drastically cut immigration from Islamic nations, but would also reduce immigration from many other parts of the world, including perhaps some European nations, and would impose new pressures globally to provide stronger protections for free speech and freedom of religion. Since the proposed immigration policy would not mention any particular religion, it would not provoke huge First Amendment controversies and thus might not be politically impossible.
gravenimage says
The problem with this, Eduardo, is that the there is a long tradition in the US of people coming here because they are fleeing just this sort of thing.
I think that few in the West understand that Muslims are coming here not to escape oppression, but to impose it on us.
eduardo odraude says
gravenimage, your objection is why my comment mentions “exceptions” to the policy: dissidents and oppressed minorities (provided they believe in freedom of speech and freedom of religion) could be immigrants. I guess your point is that sharia-believing Muslims would use the “exception” to be admitted and would pretend they believe in freedom of speech and freedom of religion, when in fact they do not? Is that what you are saying?
Granted, the policy would not work perfectly (no policy can), but I believe it would be a step forward nevertheless.
gravenimage says
Thanks for your reply, Eduardo.
I didn’t so much mean that Muslims would take advantage of these exceptions–although they would try–as that too many good but clueless people in the West think that *everyone* who comes here from an oppressive country is leaving because the hate oppression.
But there is some good news on this front–Muslim immigration into the US is reportedly down 91% since Trump has been able to institute the “Muslim ban”–which, while imperfect, is somewhat similar to the plan you propose:
https://www.cato.org/blog/trump-cut-muslim-refugees-91-immigrants-30-visitors-18
I would *love* to see the rest of the West institute similar plans.
eduardo odraude says
Thanks for your reply, too.
I’d of course also love to see the rest of the West institute such policies.
That 91% drop refers to Muslim refugees — not to Muslim immigrants. Muslim immigrants are down 30%, if I read Cato right. Also, the proportion of new immigrants who come from Muslim-majority countries has dropped from 19% down to 15 or 14%, according to Cato.
gravenimage says
Eduardo, the way I read it immigrants in general are down 30%. I believe numbers for Muslims are much higher.

Stopping the Great Middle East War of 2019 before It Starts
Neither Iran nor Israel seems to want to go to war, but the former is willing to risk provoking Israel and the latter is determined to prevent a dangerous buildup of Iranian capabilities in Syria. Thus, write Nadav Ben Hour and Michael Eisenstadt, there are several possible scenarios that could lead to a war between Jerusalem and Tehran (and/or its proxies). After outlining various ways such a conflict could play out, the authors venture some predictions:
Israel’s next northern war will be far more wide-ranging than prior conflicts. Israel may start with an intense air campaign to counter the threat of enemy rocket and missile forces and militias, but effectively dealing with this threat will require large-scale ground operations. Israel’s enemies will not be satisfied only with launching rockets and missiles at Israeli military facilities, population centers, and critical infrastructure, but they will try to use ground forces to infiltrate Israeli lines and to capture Israeli villages and small military outposts. They will also likely employ cyberwarfare in support of conventional military operations (for instance, to disrupt Israeli missile defenses), and perhaps against critical infrastructure, to achieve strategic effects.
In past conflicts with [Tehran’s proxy] Hizballah, Israel focused on the organization’s military forces, its leadership, military specialists, and elements of the Lebanese infrastructure that facilitated its operations. In the next northern war, the dilemma of whether to prioritize action against immediate threats or enemy centers of gravity and critical enablers will be acute. . . .
Russia is a key actor in Syria and could be a key factor in a future war. Will Moscow stand aside, or will it constrain Israel’s ability to strike pro-regime forces in Syria, to prevent the unraveling of the Assad regime’s post-2015 civil-war gains? And will Washington remain militarily uninvolved—beyond perhaps augmenting Israeli missile defenses—or will it play a more active role, seeing this as an opportunity to strike a blow against Iran and thereby advance its goal of undermining the latter’s influence in the region?
Depending on how events play out, Israel could face a disquieting possibility: Russian efforts to thwart its use of decisive force, U.S. reticence, and ineffectual great-power diplomacy could prevent Israel from achieving its full military aims—not entirely unlike the denouement of the October 1973 war. That could ensure a protracted war, and perhaps a war that ends without Israel fulfilling its aims.
More optimistically, Ben Hour and Eisenstadt recommend some strategies both Washington and Jerusalem could adopt that will make war less likely—the most important of which are Israel’s continued efforts to interdict an Iranian force buildup in Syria, and America’s maintaining a contingent of troops in northeastern Syria.
Raja says
POTUS is right about supporting Israel on security concerns and as such Israel has every right to retain the lands it captured from the aggressors of 6 day war of 1967. He even mentioned this during his campaign and has KEPT his word.
