Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Erdogan: Hagia Sophia will be made a mosque in retaliation for US declaring Golan to be a part of Israel

Mar 28, 2019 12:00 pm By Robert Spencer

This is classic Islamic supremacist behavior. Whenever Islamic supremacists and jihadis act aggressively, they blame someone else, generally an Infidel. The aggression, you see, is simply a response to this unbearable provocation. Hagia Sophia has nothing whatsoever to do with Donald Trump or Jerusalem, and adding another humiliation to Turkey’s already embattled Christian community out of hatred for Israel is just deranged.

“Hagia Sophia to Be Turned Into Mosque in Response to US Shift on Golan – Erdogan,” Sputnik News, March 27, 2019 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):

ANKARA (Sputnik) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Wednesday he planned to turn landmark Hagia Sophia, a former Greek Orthodox cathedral in Istanbul, into a mosque after this month’s elections in response to the US policy shift on the Golan Heights.

“After municipal elections, it [temple] will be converted back into a mosque from a museum. As US president Trump declares Jerusalem the capital of Israel and the Golan Heights an Israeli territory, Turkey will give an adequate response as the rotating chair of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation”, Erdogan said while aired on television….

The Turkish theft dispute over the Hagia Sophia Cathedral was with the EU, not the US. This is retaliation like if the US were to penalize Canada for Russia taking the Crimea. It’s just typical sinister Islamist logic.

This moslim slug was going to do that anyway. The threats have been coming for months. He was just waiting for the “right” time to make it as public and seemingly retaliatory as possible. If he could make it look like Mr. Trump’s or Israel’s fault, this is what he was waiting for.

I know. As far back as I can recall that this rabid moslim has been in charge, he has been threatening. I sometimes have a problem…due to a certain illness (not dementia)…keeping track of lengths of time not written down. So, I said “months” because I know it has been at least that long.
And, it only has to do with islam…and moslims’ desires to grow islam across the earth. He was just looking for an “excuse” that would make his fellow moslims “proud.”

It is an interesting visage. The four corner prayer towers make Hagia Sophia appear to be a prisoner in a complex – an apt appearance. No matter what use is made of it, Hagia Sophia will be a grand example of Islam’s inability to move much beyond the purchase or booty of anything significant.

Even the Mekka cube is a booty, a place of former pagan worship, stolen through the use of force. Islam is the only religion that is competely dependent on a single particular object, in a particular location, to perform a required ritual(the Hajj). How would Islam recover if the cube was inadvertently destroyed in war, leaving intense radiation that would precude rebuilding or using the area for any purpose? Any other religion, facing such a situation, would simply move actvities to another location. Islam has no central authority(Caliph) to approve of a relocation. Would a Caliph actually have that authority?

The kabaa( the cube) has been destroyed a few times in history. Also I just watched a very interesting documentary on mecca. There is a theory that Mecca isn’t even the real Mecca. On YouTube you’ll find a documentary on Mecca being Petra.

If Hagia Sophia, the most important site in Turkey for Western tourists to visit, is turned back into a mosque, many of those Western visitors will choose not to go to Turkey. They will have no interest in seeing Hagia Sophia, which was the largest and most important Christian church for a thousand years, again a mosque; the sight of thousands of Muslims praying in that church-turned-mosque will fill them with loathing and dread.

Turkey’s tourism from the West will suffer. These tourists do not want the most important Christian site in the entire East — outside of Israel — to be turned into a mosque. Nor do they approve of Erdogan’s aggressive manner, his imprisonment of journalists, his forcing of hundreds of thousands of Kemalists — ludicrously accused of being Gulenists — out of their jobs.

If he turns Hagia Sophia into a mosque, the economic consequences will be huge. Aside from the losses to hotels and restaurants, there is the lost income to sellers of rugs, fabrics, Iznik tiles, Turkish musical instruments such as the saz. apotropaic eyes, souvenirs of all kinds. At least 600,000 people in Turkey are in tourism-related businesses.

So, Padishah pouting in your Ak Saray, go ahead and turn Hagia Sophia into a mosque, and you’ll get a lesson in economics. Once the bazaaris in the Covered Market (Kapalicarsi–sorry, I couldn’t put in the cedillas nor undot the “i”s) have lost business, all because of that crazed bully Erdogan, then hark! what discord follows.

Many Australians and New Zealanders visit the Gallipoli peninsular in western Turkey, the site of a major campaign in the First World War. The numbers are huge – tens of thousands a year. In the 1920s Kemal Ataturk, the victorious general at Gallipoli who went on to become Turkey’s president, made an amazingly generous and gracious statement stating that the dead Aussie and kiwi soldiers were now Turkey’s sons.

This arswhole Erdogan has repeatedly been screening the video of the mosque shootings to his supporters to whip up a Moslem frenzy, and has specifically threatened to send Australian and New Zealand people back in coffins if they show a negative attitude to Islam. Any Australian or New Zealander who visits Turkey at this time would have to be crazy.

Why would tourists come to see what is not there? Have you ever seen a mosque with mosaics and paintings of Christ and Mary on the walls and ceiling? The artwork within the Hagia Sophia will fall as surely as the Buddha at Bamiyan if Erdogan has his way. I hope the pictures we have of the inside of the great basilica will be good enough for future artists to re-create at least some its beauty once the world decides it has had enough of Islam. But maybe the people of the future will be happy with doodles on the wall.

Fun fact – many of the columns of the Hagia Sophia are in fact ripped off from Pagan temples such as the temple of Jupiter in Balbek.

fun fact – a lot of american architecture (federal, or federalist, i think?) is greek- and roman-inspired. so what? any culture that is afraid to adopt things from other cultures is dead or dying – another reason that islam and the ummah are not a civilization, but a sorry-a** gang of cutthroat thieves.

and finally – “Go Erdo! Kill ’em all!” – trust a muslim to think of murder first. even though U are deluded and hateful, U are still a child of God, and i still pray that He reaches U with His love.

What absolute crap. Does lebel think that we don’t know that Turkey has long been threatening to turn Hagia Sophia back into a mosque in “revenge” for something the West has done?

      This, from 2015:

“Mufti of Ankara: Pope acknowledging Armenian Genocide will hasten Hagia Sophia’s becoming mosque again”

      https://www.jihadwatch.org/2015/04/mufti-of-ankara-pope-acknowledging-armenian-genocide-will-hasten-hagia-sophias-becoming-a-mosque-again

A poster on that story said, “they have to have someone to blame for what they will do anyway”–this is quite true, whether the pretext is Trump speaking about the Golan Heights, or the Pope acknowledging the Armenian Genocide years earlier.

Trump hasn’t been pushing. He’s just evening the score from deplorable diminishment that Islam in the region has enforced and oppressed upon people. Not unlike what happened during the Crusades when they in general were efforts of defensive Christianity, reclaiming what had been taken, settling scores for the atrocities of Islam’s Scimitar.

Byzantine Christendom was not pagan when Hagia Sophia was constructed.

Erdogan: Hagia Sophia will be made a mosque in retaliation for US declaring Golan to be a part of Israel
    ………………….

What rot. Erdogan and other Muslims have been threatening to do this for years now–long before President Trump’s declaration re the Golan Heights, and long before he was even elected president.

Note that this article dates from the *day before* Trump made his declaration re the Golan Heights:

“Erdogan says it’s “not unlikely” that Hagia Sophia will be converted to a mosque”

    https://www.jihadwatch.org/2019/03/erdogan-says-its-not-unlikely-that-hagia-sophia-will-be-converted-to-a-mosque

In this article he does not, of course, cite anything Trump said as a motivating factor.

And last year, the Turkish court narrowly turned down a bid to turn Hagia Sophia back into a Mosque. Also last year,

And there was another such bid in 2005, almost a decade before Trump even thought about running for office.

In fact, pious Muslims have long been demanding that Hagia Sophia be turned into a Mosque again. This, from two years ago:

“Turkey: Large Muslim crowd prays in front of Hagia Sophia, demanding it become a mosque again”

    https://www.jihadwatch.org/2017/05/turkey-large-muslim-crowd-prays-in-front-of-hagia-sophia-demanding-it-become-a-mosque-again

Last year, Erdogan recited Qur’an inside Hagia Sophia in honor of Istanbul’s conqueror.

And Hagia Sophia has essentially functioned as a Mosque for quite some time now, in any case:

“Turkey appoints permanent imam for Hagia Sophia; will lead five daily prayers”

    https://www.jihadwatch.org/2016/10/turkey-appoints-permanent-imam-for-hagia-sophia-will-lead-five-daily-prayers

    And this:

“First call to Islamic prayer inside Istanbul’s Hagia Sophia in 85 years”

    https://www.jihadwatch.org/2016/07/first-call-to-islamic-prayer-inside-istanbuls-hagia-sophia-in-85-years

These stories were from 2016. So this has been underway for some time now.

Note that Christian prayers are banned in Hagia Sophia.

I have been there, a few years ago. The Hagia Sophia currently is a museum, no services. It could use some restoration as some parts are in bad condition.

This being said, it is an elevating experience to walk within these massive walls that have been erected about one and a half thousand years ago. Inside there is a lot of space and it does not look as heavy, massive, as it appears from the outside. If feels almost as if it was light, floating! Unfortunately there is not much sunlight coming in.

On the same hill is the Sultanahmet mosque, and while it is in overall better condition, and inside has much more light, yields an impression of massive, heavyweight and narrower.

Hindu Temples: What Happened to Them, Vol.2: The Islamic Evidence
by Arun Shourie, Sita Ram Goel

The subject of this volume is not so much the destruction of Hindu temples as the character of Islam.

The story of the conversion of non-Islamic places of worship into mosques world wide.Hagia Sophia is just one of many.

    https://www.hindustanbooks.com/pdfs/10120488-Hindu-TemplesWhat-Happend-to-Them-by-Sita-Ram-Goel.pdf

Hindu Temples – What Happened to Them is a two-volume book by Sita Ram Goel, Arun Shourie, Harsh Narain, Jay Dubashi and Ram Swarup. The first volume was published in the Spring of 1990.

The first volume includes a list of 2,000 mosques that they claims were built on Hindu temples, based primarily on the books of Muslim historians of the period or inscriptions found on mosques.

The second volume excerpts from medieval histories and chronicles and from inscriptions concerning the destruction of Hindu, Jain and Buddhist temples.

He also denied that it was first converted into a mosque. But I put him straight on that score, and much to his annoyance, and the astonishment of the group – mainly Americans, Canadians and Australians – told them about the conquest of Constantinople and the massacre of its inhabitants. Most of them knew virtually nothing about this terrible atrocity.
