Always the victim. In Hawo Ahmed’s scenario, Grand Forks police arrested her because she is a Muslim. She didn’t threaten to cut anyone with a knife, they just ran her in because of they are rogue cops seething with “Islamophobia.” This familiar claim increasingly strains credulity. Knowing how skillfully the victim card can be played, authorities are generally extra solicitous and careful in cases involving groups that will eagerly claim victim status and charge them with wrongdoing on virtually any pretext. The Grand Forks police likely only bothered with Hawo Ahmed at all because it was a case of extreme necessity.
An update on this story. “Woman accused of terrorizing says she’s being targeted due to her race and religion,” by Joshua Peguero, Valley News Live, March 7, 2019:
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (Valley News Live) A day after our report that a Grand Forks woman was arrested for making a terroristic threat, she called Valley News Live claiming that she’s innocent.
In an exclusive interview that was more than 20 minutes long, Hawo Ahmed, 26, shared her side of the story in an incident that landed her in jail.
Ahmed was arrested for threatening to cut three people with a knife.
“I feel like I’m a Muslim woman who’s being attacked because I am a Muslim woman living in Grand Forks,” Ahmed said.
Court documents detailed several serious allegations against Ahmed. She not only threatened the lives of three women in November of 2018, but threatened to slash their tires and smash their car windows….
“I turned myself in because I know I didn’t commit the crime. I’m innocent and I know I can prove it,” Ahmed said.
According to the Grand Forks Police Department, one of the victims feared for her life because Ahmed is known to climb onto balconies at her apartment complex.
“I don’t climb balconies. I am not a terrorist. And I’m not a threat to this country. I love this country,” Ahmed said.
Despite her claim that she’s being targeted because of her race and religion, we obtained court documents showing a lengthy criminal history.
Her crimes are traced to Iowa, North Dakota, and Minnesota. They include third degree assault and giving a false name to a peace officer.
In 2011, Ahmed was accused of tampering with a witness in a major federal human trafficking case out of Minneapolis.
Ahmed said she was acquitted in that case.
“I’ve already been convicted in public. They already see me as the guilty Muslim terrorist that needs to be sent back to her country, that doesn’t belong here,” Ahmed said….

A prison sentence would give her some time to think about why she is being attacked. Give her just enough time to come up with a different answer than the one she has now.

Muslims feel under attack when people merely look at them funny and that is enough to trigger their JIHAD INDOCTRINATION. Merely THINKING unpleasant things about jihad is now enough for Muslims to attack you.
They of course can read minds.
Renate says
Just not being Muslim is enough for Muslims to attack people. You don’t even have to know that Islam or jihad exists. They should never have been allowed into the West to begin with.

David Grisez says
I forget the name of the psychologist who did a study on Muslims that shows that Muslims have a different view of responsibility then Western people. For western people he said that they have in inner locus of control and see themselves as responsible for their actions. And that Muslims have an outer locus of control and see external events and external causes as responsible for their actions. Thus Muslims have a pattern of not taking personal responsibility for their actions but instead they blame it on external circumstances and other people and claim that I am the victim.
CRUSADER says
See if you can remember who that psychologist is.
In the meanwhile, notice how the photographs and impressions of Muslima in their “scarfs” and makeup
are designed to appear fashionable, pretty, and thus ….admirable.
What a scheme to distract and deceive!

I found what I remembered. David Grisez: I’m about to venture into an area fraught with possible charges of bigotry but venture nonetheless I will. Here it is.
Years ago I watched a documentary about Latin America narrated and hosted by a British scholar who was a Latin American specialist. Towards the end of the documentary he brought up the subject of why almost all Latin American nations are so dysfunctional. He gave three reasons: 1) a legacy of military rule right from the get-go when the break with Spain occurred in the early 19th century; 2) relying too much on one or two products rather than instituting a far more diversified economy, an example being how Chile has relied too much on copper and when the copper market falls so does Chile economically; and (here is where it is both intriguing and controversial) 3) rooted in the Spanish language itself is an abnegation of responsibility. In English we would say “I dropped the glass,” but in Spanish it comes out as “The glass dropped from me.” Hmmm. Fascinating, no? Perhaps not correct but then again perhaps so.
And thus one way or another people are brought up in certain cultures where a religion like Islam or a language like Spanish take away personal responsibility and in such cultures eventual stagnation, with many concomitant consequences, including more violence, is a virtual guarantee. And such cultures are a burden to those cultures which are more efficient and productive in part PRECISELY because responsibility for one’s behavior is more greatly rooted in the majority religion, or the language, or…, or…, or…. It’s a puzzlement all right.

I have heard that one before from multiple sources.

It is always a question–how much does language direct culture, and how much does it reflect it? Some of both, I would imagine.
Certainly, there have been responsible and even great Spanish speakers. But language and other forms of culture may indeed tend away from this this. In other words, those native Spanish speakers who are great achievers may have had to try harder.

I love the comment above by David Grisez. His comment sheds light on the cultural behavior of both those who believe in Islam, and those who speak Spanish and possibly other romance languages. I have often wondered why when a Hispanic person speaks Spanish to me, the interpreter does not convert the Spanish words directly into English, but must manipulate them into common understandable English sentence structure. By doing that, I can see where they are avoiding Any personal responsibility for an action that should be their’s.
JM says
This is true in Spanish, but it is a structure we also use in Greek.
thebigW says
You could be even braver and also blame the native indian cultures of S, & Central America. Even though the Spanish were really aggressive in their colonial occupation, it’s kinda strange how much native culture took over down there, compared with N. America.

If a serial killer said, “I feel like you are arresting me because I’m a serial killer.” or “I feel like you are arresting me because I kill people”… the answer would be: Yes!
It’s too bad when moslims commit crimes they are taught to commit, taught to believe they have the “right” to commit, taught to believe they are “above the laws because they are moslims,” and then say something like she said,…and the whining tlaib did over the omar thingy…the authorities can’t say, “Yes!”
It is because she is a moslim…because she is doing what moslims believe they have the “right” to do…to threaten, rape, kill, break any and all laws and then whine and complain that they are targeted…because they are moslim. The teachings of ilslam give them the mens rea. Some moslims then go beyond just “thinking” about murder, rape, terrorism…they carry it out to the actus reus…the “guilty act.”
They become “guilty of crimes” because they act on their “guilty thoughts.” They have the “guilty thoughts” because they are moslim. Therefore, she was arrested because….she is moslim. She acted on her moslim thoughts.

There are reflexive verbs in Spanish and there are also verbs that have “I” as the subject and have direct objects.
All the world is not glasses breaking and Spanish speakers certainly sometimes acknowledge personal responsibility.

My comment about the Spanish language way of expressing a thought was in response to what Wellington wrote above…although the glitch kept it from being directly below the other comments on the same subject.
I did not imply anything else about Spanish or acknowledging “personal responsibility.” All groups of people…English speakers included…have some in their communities who shirk responsibility or blame other people. No need to begin an argument as though I implied “all the world is about glasses breaking.” And I have numerous friends who are native Spanish speakers. I’ve had some of them say to me, “My mistake,” or “I’m sorry,” “lo siento.”

My error. I read back over the article, but sometimes I get blind spots due to retina holes and I missed it on the second reading. So, it does give her age….and she is the “right” age to have been the 24 year old in the older story of Thanksgiving.
So much for Thanksgiving. Perhaps she just couldn’t be thankful for the cranberry sauce. Nor anything else.

LOL, somehistory. I am riddled with blind spots when it comes to these issues.

Moslem as an adjective.

DEFENSE of the realm, against Jihad.
“Sword and Scimitar” by Raymond Ibrahim
A sweeping history of the often-violent conflict between Islam and the West, shedding a revealing light on current hostilities
The West and Islam–the sword and scimitar–have clashed since the mid-seventh century, when, according to Muslim tradition, the Roman emperor rejected Prophet Muhammad’s order to abandon Christianity and convert to Islam, unleashing a centuries-long jihad on Christendom.
Sword and Scimitar chronicles the decisive battles that arose from this ages-old Islamic jihad, beginning with the first major Islamic attack on Christian land in 636, through the Muslim occupation of nearly three-quarters of Christendom which prompted the Crusades, followed by renewed Muslim conquests by Turks and Tatars, to the European colonization of the Muslim world in the 1800s, when Islam largely went on the retreat–until its reemergence in recent times. Using original sources in Arabic and Greek, preeminent historian Raymond Ibrahim describes each battle in vivid detail and explains how these wars and the larger historical currents of the age reflect the cultural fault lines between Islam and the West.
The majority of these landmark battles–including the battles of Yarmuk, Tours, Manzikert, the sieges at Constantinople and Vienna, and the crusades in Syria and Spain–are now forgotten or considered inconsequential. Yet today, as the West faces a resurgence of this enduring Islamic jihad, Sword and Scimitar provides the needed historical context to understand the current relationship between the West and the Islamic world–and why the Islamic State is merely the latest chapter of an old history.
