“Omar said she is worried that many will see her comments and those of Tlaib as anti-Semitic ‘because we are Muslim.’”
No, but it’s likely because you’re Muslim, Ms. Omar, that you are so indefatigably anti-Semitic. As you know, the Qur’an depicts the Jews as inveterately evil and bent on destroying the well-being of the Muslims. They are the strongest of all people in enmity toward the Muslims (5:82); they fabricate things and falsely ascribe them to Allah (2:79; 3:75, 3:181); they claim that Allah’s power is limited (5:64); they love to listen to lies (5:41); they disobey Allah and never observe his commands (5:13). They are disputing and quarreling (2:247); hiding the truth and misleading people (3:78); staging rebellion against the prophets and rejecting their guidance (2:55); being hypocritical (2:14, 2:44); giving preference to their own interests over the teachings of Muhammad (2:87); wishing evil for people and trying to mislead them (2:109); feeling pain when others are happy or fortunate (3:120); being arrogant about their being Allah’s beloved people (5:18); devouring people’s wealth by subterfuge (4:161); slandering the true religion and being cursed by Allah (4:46); killing the prophets (2:61); being merciless and heartless (2:74); never keeping their promises or fulfilling their words (2:100); being unrestrained in committing sins (5:79); being cowardly (59:13-14); being miserly (4:53); being transformed into apes and pigs for breaking the Sabbath (2:63-65; 5:59-60; 7:166); and more. They are under Allah’s curse (9:30), and Muslims should wage war against them and subjugate them under Islamic hegemony (9:29).
You believe all that is holy writ. So it’s no surprise that you would be anti-Semitic.
“Ilhan Omar equivocates on her anti-Semitism statement: ‘I apologized for the way that my words made people feel,'” by Jerry Dunleavy, Washington Examiner, March 1, 2019:
Rep. Ilhan Omar on Thursday equivocated on the “unequivocal apology” she offered in the wake of tweets that many thought were anti-Semitic, saying she was only apologizing if people were offended by her words, not for the words themselves.
The Intercept’s Mehdi Hasan asked the Minnesota Democrat Omar why she apologized and whether it was for a badly worded tweet or for being anti-Semitic wittingly or unwittingly.
“Absolutely not,” Omar replied. “I apologized for the way that my words made people feel.”
“Oftentimes, you know, we are in places where someone will say something and they might not know how it makes you feel and it’s not acceptable that once you express to them that this is hurtful or that you have felt attacked by their words,” she added. “They should acknowledge how you feel. They should speak to that. They should apologize. And you know figure out a way to remedy that situation.”
In February, Omar sent out a series of tweets complaining about the influence of the Jewish lobby on Congress and at one point said, “It’s all about the Benjamins, baby!” Many saw her comments as anti-Semitic, but she told Hasan that she was only pointing out the influence of money on politics….
In Thursday’s interview, however, she said, “I think the theme here is because I’m Muslim.” She said that there were plenty of people “within journalism, within politics, within all kind of aspects of our society who have spoken about the kind of influence that AIPAC has on Congress and on our foreign policy” and that she was being singled out for her Muslim faith.
She suggested that critiques of her stemmed in part from “preconceived notions about who a Muslim is” and also that Republican complaints about her remarks and those of Rep. Rashida Tlabi, D-Mich., was tantamount to bullying.
Omar said that she and Tlaib “are quite used to bullies and we’ve always beaten bullies.”…
This week, Omar said she is worried that many will see her comments and those of Tlaib as anti-Semitic “because we are Muslim.”
Olli Hekkala says
Is it some sort of antisemitic accusation to claim that Jews lobby with money? Do they. I bet they do as Muslims do too. Secondly, I don’t understand how accusing that USA support Israel because of Jews lobby(money) is antisemitic. Target is USA, not Jews. It is insult comparable to myth that Jews are money greedy and sell their principles for money, but in this case the greedy is supposed to be USA. Insulting USA cannot be antisemitic.

Olli Hekkala
There is a heck of a lot you “don’t understand.”
Olli Hekkala says
You can educate me.
Wellington says
Ah, where to begin, Olli Hekkala?
First, the Jewish religion does not require its followers to conquer all the world in the name of their religion. Islam does.
Second, Israel is the only free country in the Middle East where Israeli-Arabs have far more rights than do Arabs in the over twenty Arab nations that exist.
Third, Israel is the canary in the coal mine which is Western Civilization. As Israel goes, so goes the West.
Fourth, being anti-Israel but saying you are not anti-Jewish is invariably a cover for being anti-Jewish.
Fifth, as detailed by Robert Spencer above, Muslims are instructed by their putrid holy book, Mein Korampf, to despise Jews and not just some Jewish state.
Sixth, all kinds of countries lobby Congress but when Israel does it then this is really terrible.
Seventh, anyone who is anti-Israel, well, their moral compass is broken.
How’s this for starters?
Olli Hekkala says
Wellington
Thanks. I agree on all points. Nothing new. What about alleged antisemitism in criticizing USAs Israel support. It CANNOT be antisemitism. As far as I know object is USA and its crookedness by supporting Israel.
I personally think USA should support Israel, to make it clear. But criticizing USA antisemitism? cuckkuu
Wellington says
Olli: Criticism of the USA supporting Israel is ordinarily a cover for antisemitism. Not in every instance but almost in every instance. And what crookedness are your referring to?

Wellington
++ tres bon.
Olli Hekkala says
Wellington
Yes. There is most probably antisemitism below surface, if you want in this kind of world withdraw support from Israel. Then there are pacifist, who oppose all kind of support for warring regimes. And mix of these. All kind of people. Individualism.
I am referring to allegation “crookedness”. By Islamic civilizational standard you can call all support which are opposed to their goals by “what ever negative word”.

Thank you, somehistory.

OH, there is a flaw in your logic.
Ally of Israel = support Israel (and where most Jews in the entire world live).
According to you, criticize support of Israel, her existence, her people only equals criticism of US.
There is a flaw in your logic.
gravenimage says
Israel is a civilized democracy and our *only* real ally in the Middle East. Most Americans support Israel for this reason.
The claim that the US only supports Israel because of money is nonsensical for a whole slew of reasons..

Thank you Mr Spencer for the lovely list of references!!!
Times of Israel quotes from 2018 article on Omar: ” “These accusations are without merit. They are rooted in bigotry toward a belief about what Muslims are stereotyped to believe,” she said, without apologizing for or retracting her claims from the 2012 tweet.
Omar has also hit back at critics on social media, including one Twitter user who referred to her as a “proud Jew hater” after she made a cameo in the music video of pop group Maroon 5’s song “Girls Like You.”
“Drawing attention to the apartheid Israeli regime is far from hating Jews. You are a hateful sad man, I pray to Allah you get the help you need and find happiness,” she wrote in response.”
I am embarrassed she is an elected office holder from my state. Her false use of aparteid in reference to Israel is reprehensible!
Olli Hekkala says
>>Times of Israel quotes from 2018 article on Omar: ” “These accusations are without merit. They are rooted in bigotry toward a belief about what Muslims are stereotyped to believe,” she said<<
Her problem is that Islam tells him clearly what Muslims are supposed to believe, and those are very antisemitic beliefs. She may not believe all that Islam teaches and it is not unbelievers job to demand it, but she is really in trouble because of ISLAM, not because his (alleged)ignorant state.
But I guess it is too much asked to media to ask these hard questions about Islam. If she knows what Islam teaches about Jews, she is smart and tries not to be antisemite so nobody could ask: "How about your faith? What does it says about Jews?"
Elizabeth Baklaich says
Do you live in Minnesota? Have you seen this woman speak? Watched her smile while asking vile questions that she is not even capable of properly pronouncing all the words?
Heard her lIE, flat out, to a room full of kind hearted central Minnesota jewish people?

She is constantly saying something and then attempting to put the blame for the way people feel about it onto the people who don’t like what she has said.
She is against Israel and Jews. It comes with being moslim. But anyone…moslim or not…who says the things she has said, and feels about Israel and the Jews as she feels about them. would also be said to be anti Semitic.
I have noticed that every time someone asks her about something she has previously said, with which others disagree, she always makes a long, convoluted speech, trying to make herself look like an innocent, misunderstood victim. And now here she is, saying she is being “bullied” because she has been criticized.
People have “criticized” her speech because she was saying things that are untrue and anti- Semitic.
She claims she is being ‘bullied’ by those people, but in her *argument* stated above, she goes into detail about if ” someone says something and they don’t know how we feel”….and then “They should acknowledge how you feel. They should speak to that. They should apologize. And you know figure out a way to remedy that situation.”
However, she doesn’t want to “remedy” any situation. She wants to be free to say whatever hateful, dumb, untrue, lying, evil thought that comes into her head and get away without being criticized…because to condemn her speech as hateful, untrue, lying, evil…is “bullying” her….and she has “always beaten bullies.”
She’ll go down in flames one day as the arrogant liar she is. She has learned well to be an arrogant liar by her practice of islam.

Suggesting that Jews buy support for Israel repeats age-old canards about Jews and money. What other religious, racial, or ethnic group does Omar or anyone else accuse of using their “Benjamins” (itself coincidently a name of Hebrew origin)? Moreover, what she says about AIPAC is factually wrong. The PA in AIPAC stands for Public Affairs, not Political Action, and the group is not allowed to contribute to political campaigns. Also, most Jewish support and donations go to Democrats, whereas it is the Republican Party that is most supportive of Israel. How does that fit Omar’s thesis?

For most of my life anyone who spewed hatred of Jews tended to be suspected of being associated with Nazism or some other racist ideology. Now I am being told that hatred of Jews should be accepted because that is a normal thing in Islam. That just doesn’t work for me.
Probably she is just mindlessly following the same pattern of rebuttal seen so often among Muslims. Still, a part of me wants to instead view her as just extremely stupid. I guess both things could be true. It is pathetic that I have to admit that she probably is well representing her constituents. The Constitution does not represent a suicide pact. The event of her election to congress is profoundly wrong and disturbing revealed by actions referred to in this article.
