Time for all Christians to convert to Islam. Anything else would “offend.” My latest in FrontPage:
Ibrahim Hooper, call your office: there was an outbreak of “Islamophobia” Monday at the Pennsylvania State Assembly. Luckily, Muslim state Rep. Movita Johnson-Harrell was there to blow the whistle on this bigotry and hatred.
The “Islamophobia,” according to journalist Todd Starnes, was committed by another state Representative, Stephanie Borowicz, who prayed this to open a legislative session: “Jesus, you are our only hope. At the name of Jesus, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess Jesus, that you are Lord.”
Johnson-Harrell was livid. The prayer, she declared was “highly offensive to me, my guests, and other members of the House.” In a statement, she added that the prayer “blatantly represented the Islamophobia that exists among some leaders — leaders that are supposed to represent the people. I came to the Capitol to help build bipartisanship and collaborations regardless of race or religion to enhance the quality of life for everyone in the Commonwealth.”
There may be a real point in there. Rep. Borowicz’s prayer may have been inappropriate in a setting in which not everyone present was Christian. We have, however, seen many imams say prayers at various legislative bodies that are not non-sectarian, but manifestly Islamic and even condemning of Jews and Christians, while the non-Muslim lawmakers stand with oblivious heads bowed.
But “Islamophobic”? This illustrates how absurd charges of “Islamophobia” are, and how any manifestation of faith other than Islam is sometimes seen as offensive to Muslims. We have seen this before. Buried in the concluding paragraphs of a Christmas Eve 2018 Washington Times report about Muslims in Uganda forcing Christians to convert to Islam was the extraordinary revelation that in that country, Muslims now consider any public statement of the Christian Faith to be a calculated insult to Muslims, for which they can justifiably exact revenge.
“In June,” the Times reported, “a group of Muslims attacked Christian preachers in eastern Uganda during a ‘crusade,’ where Christians publicly profess their faith and invite others to join. Muslims in the town accused the Christians of mocking Islam by publicly saying Jesus was the Son of God.”
In response, said Christian pastor Moses Saku, the Muslims became violent: “They became very angry and began throwing rocks at Christians, chanting ‘Allah akbar.’ Many Christians were injured during the incident.”
The Christians appealed to the Muslims to have respect for those of other faith; the Muslims responded with contempt. One Muslim, Abubakar Yusuf, declared: “We have now declared a jihad against them. We are not going to allow anybody to despise Islamic teachings at their church or crusade. We will seek revenge.”
How did the Christians “despise Islamic teachings”? By preaching aspects of Christianity, such as the divinity of Christ, that Islam denies. The Christians, knowing how delicate their situation was, would never have dreamed of actually saying something critical about Islam itself; but to the Muslims who heard them, just enunciating the tenets of their Christian faith was criticism enough. And they refused to stand for it.
That incident, and now Johnson-Harrell’s “Islamophobia” charge, are, or should be, sobering news for the comfortable Christians of the West who have made an idol out of “interfaith dialogue” and fastidiously avoid saying anything remotely critical about Islam, even as the Muslim persecution of Christians continues worldwide.
A few years ago, when jihadis attacked AFDI’s Muhammad Art Exhibit and Cartoon Contest in Garland, Texas, some Christians castigated me for co-sponsoring and speaking at the event. They said that we were being needlessly provocative, poking Muslims in the eye, goading them, etc.
These charitable and enlightened Christians said that Christians should instead be deferential to others’ religious sensibilities. At the time, I responded to these people by explaining that giving in to violent intimidation (our event was a response to the jihad murder of the Charlie Hebdo Muhammad cartoonists in Paris) would only encourage more violent intimidation, and that given the fact that Muslims frequently found even basic expressions of Christian faith to be “provocative,” they were effectively cutting the ground out from under themselves and their children, making it impossible for them to practice Christianity in the future.
Movita Johnson-Harrell has now provided more proof that this was correct. By calling Borowicz’s prayer “Islamophobic,” she is in effect saying that the public expression of the Christian Faith mocks Islam and despises Islamic teachings.
The lesson is clear. If the advice of the cosseted, suburban Western Christians who were excoriating me for the Garland event is to be heeded, Christians should make no public expression of their faith at all, and convert to Islam, so as to avoid mocking, provoking, and offending Muslims, and poking them in the eye.
And when it comes to it, that is most likely the exact thing that those Christians will do. It’s already beginning: Pennsylvania House Minority Whip Jordan Harris, a Democrat (of course), stated: “Let me be clear. I am a Christian. I spend my Sunday mornings in church worshiping and being thankful for all that I have. But in no way does that mean I would flaunt my religion at those who worship differently than I do. There is no room in our Capitol building for actions such as this, and it’s incredibly disappointing that today’s opening prayer was so divisive.”
So Harris says that Christians must not flaunt their religion. Not coincidentally, that is exactly what Islamic law says about Christians: that they should carry on their worship quietly, behind closed doors, and never make public display of it. Oh, and by the way, speaking of flaunting one’s religion, Movita Johnson-Harrell wears a hijab. Harris is not on record objecting to that kind of flaunting one’s religion.
The Christian Harris who deplores Rep. Borowicz’s prayer should calm Movita Johnson-Harrell’s rage by converting to Islam and thus removing the source of her feelings of offense. Watch for it.

“regardless of race or religion ”
*****************************
This ugly disgusting creep from the bowels of islam lied when she said “regardless of…religion,’ because she clearly showed that Christianity will not be acceptable in their government meetings.
She went to a ballet expecting to see a polo match played with severed heads…and became “offended.”
The U.S., since it’s founding, has had praying in the Name of Jesus in all kinds of government situations. In city halls, county board meetings, Congress, etc. And Court houses had witnesses swearing on the Holy Bible that they would “tell the truth and nothing but.”
Now here come the despicable worshippers of satan through his “beast” and demand that no one have any other religion while they are around. She demands that no one utter a prayer in the Name of Jesus because she and her “guests”…likely all moslims…were offended.
I don’t believe the prayer was any more inappropriate than prayers said down through the ages…centuries…in other meetings of government employees…in every State in the country. If she didn’t like it, she didn’t have to stand and listen to it.
If she doesn’t like the idea of others being Christians, she doesn’t have to stay and be in their company. It’s a free country…and she is free to leave. Just as the Christians should be “free to pray in Jesus’ Name” if they choose to.
Freedom and offense are both two way streets. Christians are frequently offended when accused of having a “phobia’ of moslims and islam. In reality, this is a demand to stop honoring Christ, to stop worshipping the True god, and to stop telling the Truth. if moslims have the “freedom” to accuse, Christians have the “freedom” to keep on praying in Jesus’s Name.

I don’t understand why US legislative bodies open with prayers in the first place, but since it is not making a law respecting an establishment of religion and constitutes free exercise I suppose it passes. However, it might be worth considering keeping legislative proceedings secular, thus avoiding “Islamophobia” nonsense such as the above and attempts by professional nuisances such as the Satanic Temple to butt in and open sessions with “Hail Satan!” or some such cultic provocations. To say nothing of reinforcing the commitment to representing all citizens regardless of religious beliefs or the absence thereof. (Rep. Borowicz, for example, would have a hard time convincing this “unbeliever” of her intention to represent me in, um, good faith.)
Johnson-Harrell, of course, had to make it all about “Islamophobia” because only Muslims count and you unbelievers had better remember that! As Robert Spencer points out, imams invited to invoke Allahoochiekoo before legislative bodies have no qualms about being as “manifestly Islamic” as they care or dare to be. No worries there about being “provocative”. Just gives them another excuse to whip out the “Islamophobia!” complaint.

I believe that when you pray it should be in private — or in a place where a group who prays to the same god is gathered together for the purpose of prayer to that god (or gods). This rule of etiquette should apply to all people — including Muslims as well as Christians. I am convinced that the Muslim god and the Triune God of the Christians are NOT one and the same and hearing that they are the same god is more offensive to me than this Muslim woman’s objections.
mortimer says
Cog, the US has ALWAYS had public prayer in the legislatures … every single day.
Politicians more than anyone should pray for divine help because they are responsible for millions of lives.
CogitoErgoSum says
I just have to agree with Jesus on this that when you pray you should do it in private and not in public. If people who worship the same god want to get together to pray to their god that is fine but it should be in a place such as a church, temple or mosque or some place private they have set aside (using their own funds) to pray together. I think if we want to keep our freedom of religion in the future we will have to fine tune what freedom of religion entails.
PRCS says
Fully agree.
At one time–long ago–perhaps most folks living in America (the indigenous population aside) were Christians.
That’s no longer the case, of course.
But, the real question for the Muslim woman: how did that prayer constitute an “irrational fear of Islam”?
Matt says
Exact wording of the 1st amendment to the US Constitution:
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”
Christians are free to pray and Muslims (agnostics, atheists, Buddhists, etc.) are free to be offended. Anyone heard of a Buddhist being offended?
PRCS says
The “free exercise thereof”, which applies to the followers of EVERY religion (yes, even Islam) does not include the “right” to carry out religious practices which run afoul of U.S. law.
CogitoErgoSum says
Well, Matt, you can go around offending people part of the time and you can go around being offended the rest of the time or you can take into consideration that there are other people who don’t think the same way you do and adjust your actions accordingly. If praying in public offends people and praying in private does not, I think I’m going to go with not praying in public and doing it in private. If everybody would go along with that, I don’t see why there should be problem … but of course there will be a problem because many Muslims feel they have to pray when it’s time for them to pray no matter what they are doing or where they are. I think a ban on public prayer would be a bigger hardship on them than anybody else and, guess what, I’m not offended by that.

I don’t see where there would really be a need to change any law. The Constitution just says the government will not favor one particular religion over another. I don’t see that as a guarantee that people have the right to pray in public … especially on public property or at public meetings. People could still pray on their own property or in the privacy of their own thoughts if wanted to do so. Praying for the benefit of being seen praying is just what Jesus said to avoid.
gravenimage says
CogitoErgoSum–with all respect–Christians have been offering prayers at public meetings for centuries here.
If we were to outlaw this because of Muslims, this would indeed be changing our laws and our customs for Muslims. I don’t think this is a good idea, and is not apt to work in our favor in the long run.

This is what the world is coming to.
But as for me and my house…
1. I will display my faith publicly as well as privately. This includes but is not limited to: praying in Jesus’ name, reading Bible verses, worship, evangelism, wearing big crosses and Christian t-shirts, etc. I don’t leave it outside of any location or inside of any location. It is who I am and with me wherever I go.
2. I declare ALL of the doctrines of Christianity inside and outside of the church; Jesus is the Son of God, the deity of Christ, the Trinity, the crucifixion and resurrection, etc.
3. I am proudly divisive because so was Jesus. He always separates the sheep from the goats. See Matthew 10; 34 onward.
4. I despise islam and islamic teachings and preach all the Bible verses that contradict islam. I oppose islam openly and publicly as well as privately. You can’t even avoid it, the two are diametrically opposed.
If muslims want to take that as a personal insult, then they are more than welcome to. I have my right to flaunt my religion just as much as they have the right to be offended by it. But that won’t change the fact that I will flaunt it.
5. If they see that as ‘islamophobic’ then they are Christianophobic. They do the same thing the other way around and they don’t worry about ‘offending’ anyone. I don’t worry about offending them or anyone else either. If they want to get offended, then let them be offended! If anyone has a problem with my religion or is offended by it, then the problem is with them.
The day is almost at hand where the fork in the road will be unavoidable.
If you are a Christian, you need to take a bold stand for your faith daily. It’s not to be hid under a bucket. If you take that approach they will increase instead of decreasing. Be part of the solution instead of part of the problem. Most can’t do this and will cower to islam as they increase. The only option left for true Christians who have been bold will be to die for our faith. Those who have been weak will not even have the courage to do that. The knees of the weak world will buckle under the pressure. Only Christians with true back bone will be able to stand up against it no matter the cost. Like I said before, when the heat is on, the cream rises to the top.
It’s a void that something will fill. Sort of like in old movies where garlic keeps vampires away. The church has lost it’s voice in the West and the vampires are filling the void. There is no ‘neutral ground’ in the spiritual realm which intersects the natural realm at every point. We see sufficient examples of this all the time, don’t we?

When you came against us, we asked you for safe-conduct (aman) for ourselves, our descendants, our property, and the people of our community, and we undertook the following obligations toward you:
We shall not build, in our cities or in their neighborhood, new monasteries, Churches, convents, or monks’ cells, nor shall we repair, by day or by night, such of them as fall in ruins or are situated in the quarters of the Muslims…
We shall not manifest our religion publicly nor convert anyone to it. We shall not prevent any of our kin from entering Islam…
We shall not display our crosses or our books in the roads or markets of the Muslims. We shall use only clappers in our churches very softly. We shall not raise our voices when following our dead…

Yes, Jesus told us how to pray, “You must pray then, this way…Our Father…”
He told us not to make a show of praying, “When you pray, go into your room and shut the door behind you, and pray in secret and your Father, listening in secret will repay you…”
He also said, “When two or more are gathered together in my Name, I will be there also.”
Jesus didn’t take part in the government of Israel. He said, “My kingdom is not of this world.”
So when he prayed, it was not in the offices of the government. At least three times, He went off by himself to pray. In the wilderness, on the mountain and in the Garden. By doing this, He set an example for us.
But, since most of the people who came to this country as the original ones from Europe did so to escape religious persecution, it seems they thought it a good idea to pray before making decisions for their fellow citizens. There were no moslims taking part in government then, and for some time Catholic priests were not allowed in the country. Probably most of them in attendance did have a faith in Jesus Christ as Protestants.
This is no longer true. But if those who believe in Christ should not pray aloud when meeting with others of other beliefs, then neither should any other person pray to any other god for any other belief. And they should not be reading from the filthy, unholy book of evil.

I’m thinking ahead to the time when there are a larger number of Muslims in the U.S. and they start praying in the parks and the streets or wherever they want and we won’t be able to do a thing about it. It’s best to head this off now instead of playing the game of who gets to say the prayer today. I don’t see what I propose so much as them controlling us but rather more of a way for us to control them. And, no, I don’t support a ban on wearing a cross or carrying a Bible and reading it on the bus or a park bench.

He’s in the thick of it, and is constantly confronted with the craziness of islam’s magical and deluded thinking for allah, the terrorism, the bigotry and hatred, and all the barbarities islam is known for…
How does he do it? day after day after day….?
This Movita incident is one more example of how islam is not a “religion of peace,” it’s divisive and intolerant in the extreme. Looking at “her” picture inspired the deepest and crudest thoughts in my mind that I would never say on JW, for one brief moment I actually felt like the bigot so many leftists would say I am. That’s always a challenge for me, to keep my disdain for islam as a violent ideology from spilling over onto muslims’ humanity, thereby causing me to hate them all. I’ll be honest, it’s hard sometimes because they are the living/breathing representation of that which threatens what I love–Peace, Western culture, and freedom without religious compulsion. And I believe Mr. Spencer is correct when he says that a “mere expression” of Christian faith is “provoking” and “offensive” to muslims. We see this level of intolerance in their riots over cartoons and the persecution of civilian Christians and Jews simply because they’re Christians and Jews. We see how muslim intolerance and bigotry is destroying Europe’s freedoms and security, and we see the humanitarian crimes and suffering islam brings to every muslim nation. Rep. Harrell’s intolerant attitude is a harbinger of bad things to come for us in America, I see Ilhan Omar and Ellison in the same dim light because their apparent love for islam is an obvious conflict of interest that borders traitorous in my mind. As more “Movitas” and “muhammads” enter American politics we will see more and more just how correct Spencer is in his assessment of the situation. As islam begins to grow in our great nation more Americans will feel a duty to quell muslims “rage by converting to islam,” or at the very least, refrain from practicing their own faith too “loudly” out of fear of offending muslims who might kill them for it. As the situation worsens our religious freedoms will be undermined, while the MURDER, and OPPRESSION, and SUFFERING of islam will be compounded until we too are ruined just like in Europe and every muslim sh*thole on earth.
That’s why TRUE Americans must say NO to the bigotry and intolerance of islam! Let our legislators know, we will not tolerate the violent INtolerance of islam in our nation! Islam does not deserve 1st Amendment protection as a religion, not while it teaches and provokes violence and hate as godly truth.
