The Pope lives in a walled city within Rome. Will he tear down those walls? How many Muslim migrants has the Vatican taken in? Or is it the poor and disenfranchised of Rome and Italy in general who must pay the price for this man’s virtue signaling?
Pope Francis has repeatedly branded those who oppose mass Muslim migration into Europe as un-Christian. He seems to be completely unconcerned about facts such as the following: all of the jihadis who murdered 130 people in Paris in November 2015 had just entered Europe as refugees. In February 2015, the Islamic State boasted it would soon flood Europe with as many as 500,000 refugees. The Lebanese Education Minister said in September 2015 that there were 20,000 jihadis among the refugees in camps in his country. On May 10, 2016, Patrick Calvar, the head of France’s DGSI internal intelligence agency, said that the Islamic State was using migrant routes through the Balkans to get jihadis into Europe.
And in the U.S., Somali Muslim migrant Mohammad Barry in February 2016 stabbed multiple patrons at a restaurant owned by an Israeli Arab Christian; Ahmad Khan Rahami, an Afghan Muslim migrant, in September 2016 set off bombs in New York City and New Jersey; Arcan Cetin, a Turkish Muslim migrant, in September 2016 murdered five people in a mall in Burlington, Washington; Dahir Adan, another Somali Muslim migrant, in October 2016 stabbed mall shoppers in St. Cloud while screaming “Allahu akbar”; and Abdul Razak Artan, yet another Somali Muslim migrant, in November 2016 injured nine people with car and knife attacks at Ohio State University. 72 jihad terrorists have come to the U.S. from the countries listed in Trump’s initial immigration ban.
Pope Francis has never expressed any concern about any of this. Of course, he has claimed risibly that “authentic Islam and the proper reading of the Koran are opposed to every form of violence.” This has become a superdogma in the Catholic Church: if you don’t believe that Islam is a Religion of Peace, you will be ruthlessly harassed and silenced by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) and the hierarchy elsewhere as well. The bishops of the Catholic Church are much more concerned that you believe that Islam is a religion of peace than that you believe in, say, the Nicene Creed. And so what possible reason could there be to be concerned about these “refugees”? It’s a religion of peace!
The U.S. Catholic bishops, of course, have 91 million reasons — indeed, 534 million reasons — to turn against the truth and disregard the safety and security of the American people: “In the Fiscal Year 2016, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) received more than $91 million in government funding for refugee resettlement. Over the past nine years, the USCCB has received a total of $534,788,660 in taxpayer dollars for refugee resettlement programs.”

“Pope Francis Tells Rome Mayor to ‘Welcome and Integrate’ Migrants,” by Thomas D. Williams, Breitbart, March 26, 2019 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):
Pope Francis traveled to Rome’s city hall Tuesday, encouraging the mayor and her staff to be welcoming toward migrants and anyone who wants to make his home in the capital.
“Rome, over its nearly 2,800 years of history, has been able to welcome and integrate different populations and people from all over the world, belonging to the most varied social and economic categories,” the pope told Mayor Virginia Raggi in his prepared address, “without canceling their legitimate differences, without humiliating or crushing their respective peculiar characteristics and identity.”
“This city has welcomed students and pilgrims, tourists, refugees and migrants from every region of Italy and from many countries of the world,” he said….
In January, the Vatican’s department for migrants and refugees published a collection of the teachings of Pope Francis on immigration, gathered into a massive 488-page tome, titled Lights on the Ways of Hope: Pope Francis Teaching on Migrants, Refugees and Human Trafficking….
“We often hear it said that, with respect to relativism and the flaws of our present world, the situation of migrants, for example, is a lesser issue,” Francis wrote in a 2018 teaching letter bearing the title Gaudete et Exsultate (“Rejoice and Be Glad”).
“Some Catholics consider it a secondary issue compared to the ‘grave’ bioethical questions,” he said, which is unacceptable for Christians.
“That a politician looking for votes might say such a thing is understandable, but not a Christian, for whom the only proper attitude is to stand in the shoes of those brothers and sisters of ours who risk their lives to offer a future to their children,” he said.
“Can we not realize that this is exactly what Jesus demands of us, when he tells us that in welcoming the stranger we welcome him?” he asked…
“Rome, city of bridges, never walls!” he said, a curious statement from the leader of the world’s only walled-in country….

Francis is nothing but a mouthpiece for Islam. He has not only betrayed the Roman Catholic Church but also church members, The Lord Jesus Himself (Francis is more interested in having a relationship with Islam instead of with Jesus), and a lot of non-Catholics who find him to be a poor excuse of a Christian leader.
Never mind the Moslems, Francis. Showing sympathy for Moslem Refugees(TM) is nothing but misplaced altruism.
Frank Anderson says
abad, if we read the accounts without the bias of years of prior influence, I suggest that Judas was instructed to betray Jesus, by Jesus, expecting substantially different treatment from Caiaphas. I think Caiaphas was more concerned with satisfying the Roman Governor to keep his position than he was with following Jewish law. Present day Jewish scholars have explained to me that the Sanhedrin had no authority to order death to anyone, and that a unanimous verdict in any controversy was considered a failure to provide an adequate defense, making the verdict void. Please always check me.
Judas, as the most trusted disciple, would be the one Jesus would select for a mission that would complete his. Anger at Judas, in my opinion, for what little it is worth, may be misplaced. About 50 years ago, the book Passover Plot presented another similar theory of the account. There are many errors in the standard account that has been used, particularly in Germany at Oberammergau’s Passion Play, that could be addressed with great detail by many Rabbis. “You shall know the truth; and the truth shall set you free.”
What would we do if we were told by Jesus to do what Judas is attributed with doing? How would we feel and react afterward?

I am not Catholic, but I have many treasured and honored Catholic friends who have stood beside me and helped me through many trials all my life. The Pope does not deserve their confidence or trust, and shows at every opportunity that he is abandoning any interest in their lives, freedom and progress for islam. I apologize to any Catholic that may be offended by my comment and hope a difference is recognized between the teachings of Judaism, Christianity and islam. Everything to me that Jews and Christians share is contrary to all that I have read and understand about islam. There is no excuse for “leaders” of any persuasion who are supposed to knowledgeable and informed to not know the evil taught and practiced by islam, without change for 1400 years.
I remain perplexed with the question, “How could half of Germany’s Jews ignore the teachings and actions of Hitler when there was time to escape?” How can both Christians and Jews allow that unlearned lesson to be repeated NOW?
FYI says
Jews and Christians,to the extent that they have the EXACT SAME {10 Exodus+2 Chief}Commandment system are pretty much in the same Biblical fold and are inextricably linked in these times via prophecy and Israel.
The 2 chief commandments of LOVE are revealed in Matthew 22 v 40 ..
“The WHOLE LAW of Moses and the teachings of the prophets depend on these 2 laws”
So at the heart of both the Torah AND the Gospel are these 2 chief laws;Jew or Christian you are obliged to strive to follow them,no matter how religiously devout you think you may be.
#1Love of God{through obeying His Exodus laws and striving to live in the Light and Love} Deuteronomy 6:4-9
#2 Love of neighbor Leviticus 19:18{from which we get the Golden Rule,respect others etc.Note how in the Koran this teaching is contradicted by koran 5 v 51 “take not the Jews and christians for friends” and the infidel is not worthy of LOVE but HATE}
So allah/islam/the koran are in violation of and preach the contrary to,the two chief laws of God!
The foundation of Judaism is based on the SAME two Ultimate laws as Christianity.
If anything,Judaism is like the elder brother of Christianity.
islam isn’t like the Biblical religions.Since allah{the BEST of deceivers k3:54}preaches hatred{al walaa wal baraa}and no love of neighbor{the infidels are to be killed, the Jews and Christians are to be cursed k9:30}and the koranic commands are seriously at odds with the Exodus 20 Laws, there appears to be no respect{or even mention of} these 2 Chief laws anywhere in islam.
islam manages to curse BOTH religions k9:30,the Jews on a false premise{some nonsense about the “sons of Ezra”.What sons?} and Christians for believing in Jesus Christ.
Two choices are given by the Lord God of the Bible..
“If the Lord is God,
follow Him.
But if baal{the deceiver!} be your god,
follow him”
I kings 18 v 21
PATH A “the Lord God”
PATH B That which is NOT the Lord God=allah the best of deceivers {AKA hu-baal}
Jews and Christians are on PATH A.
muslims are on PATH B although they think they are on PATH A ahead of the “kuffar”
It requires only a little WISDOM to see the difference
The islamic koranic allah is NOT the Judeo-Christian Biblical God;of course muslims think they are the same but they are not{allah for example MISSED the 2 chief commandments and the essential role of the Jews and the importance of getting his followers to obey,not disobey,the Exodus 20 laws..}
One answer to your last question may be:”there are none so blind as those who REFUSE to see”
Frank Anderson says
FYI, for the time being your conclusion about deliberate blindness is the best we can do; but is a conclusion that still leaves us short of understanding. If we could understand “then” maybe we could use that understanding to help “the blind see” now.
You might be interested to look further at Jewish teachings about the 613 commandments (Mitzvot plural of Mitzvah) in the Torah, first 5 books of the Bible. At least one non-scholar (me) agrees with some real scholars that the major innovation of Jesus to Judaism was to provoke examination of each one of those commandments to see if they should remain as guidance or should be otherwise treated. It took about 1800 years from the time of Jesus for the Reform movement to start in Judaism. Some of the 613 did not make sense when they were written. Some conflicted with other rules. Some became obsolete with better understanding. Unlike islam, which is “final, perfect, complete and unchangeable” Judaism is under many circumstances adaptive and responsive to better understanding. There has not been a single sacrificial altar or priest, high or other, in Judaism since the destruction of the Temple in 70 AD/CE. I have my theories as to the reasons, which are without doubt, in the minority.
I believe I am living proof and witness of God’s mercy in that I am allowed to live with my beliefs, which includes a message of patience and forgiveness of my error. I have faced death several times without fear or panic. I follow the person Jesus and his teachings as I understand them. God seems satisfied. God gave us minds which He expects us to use.

A very fine post, Frank. My compliments.
For the record, I was brought up Catholic though now I am an invincibly ignorant agnostic, but I nonetheless retain a regard for the Catholic Church because of its great artistic and intellectual traditions (examples respectively being Michelangelo and Thomas Aquinas) and also because Catholicism at its best inculcates in an individual a deep sense of the difference between right and wrong.
The institution of the papacy is also one I respect and there have been many outstanding Popes (some rogues too), but the present Pope is abysmal. He is a Latin American leftist with little to no appreciation of Western Civilization, the greatness of America, the efficacy and importance of capitalism, and he is a rank, I mean putrid, apologist for the worst religion of all time. Even the rogue Popes like Urban VI and Alexander VI never made any excuses for Islam. Indeed, like virtually all other Popes until the present one, they were quite aware of just how awful Mo’s creed is.
Hope you and yours are doing well. Again, may I say you wrote an excellent comment that rings quite true. Take care, fellow lawyer.
Frank Anderson says
Wellington, do you remember my story about the 7 years I spent, from age 15 to 22, challenging the existence of God? All of my family went into a panic, except my uncle, who said, “These are the most important questions you will ever ask. When you find your answer it will be the right one for you.” Something happened after almost exactly 7 years of really blunt, harsh fighting to convince me of God’s presence, even when I was saying differently. I have seen enough to believe and hope. I wish the same for you. In this world of needs, hope is especially important to continue trying.
Wellington says
Hope, wishing and trying, Frank, never add up to extraordinary claims without extraordinary evidence amounting to any more than, at best, an exceedingly hopeful wishing, which is what religion, ALL RELIGION, is ultimately about. Another term for this is “faith.”
Sorry, but I am not a big fan of faith and no deity should require such, especially when threats are used if you don’t have faith. Jesus threatened about this very matter many times but, thankfully, only respecting what will happen to you in the next world if you are “deficient” here.
By contrast, Mohammed threatened not only what will happen in the next world if you do not accept his “version” of the make-up of the universe, i.e., having faith, but what will happen to you by his believers in this world if you don’t. This is why, even though I think Jesus objectionable, Mohammed is by far more objectionable and why I wish every Muslim would wake up tomorrow a devout Christian. To hell with the next world, for which NO EVIDENCE exists—NONE. I am concerned with this world, the only world we will ever exist in I would argue and I would challenge you or anyone to prove to me that any world but this one exists. I aver you can’t.
Sorry, Frank, but if God exists (and this entity might—I am no atheist), then God should desist from requiring faith and provide the DAMN EVIDENCE!
Not a big fan of faith. Haven’t been since around the age of 14. Never will be. If God exists and holds this against me, then I say shame on Him.
Frank Anderson says
Wellington, I believe you are absolutely correct. I have witnessed a number of people dealing with the issue of live or die. When hope fails, a person surrenders and dies. Please consider reading Psychiatrist Viktor Frankl’s “Man’s Search for Meaning” which is built around his experience surviving the death camps to teach, “I can survive any How if I have a Why.” Religion, as Karl Marx wrote, is an opiate of the people. Having endured a blood clot in my lung for 16 hours, with the prescribed morphine dose too low to touch the pain, I understand there are times that opium has it uses. Like all drugs, any can be abused. The answer I have at the moment, which has taken at this point 54 years to develop, is not the only one or the answer for anyone else. My uncle, Grump, would be proud that I pass to you his response to me.

Christ also talked of losing one’s way in this life, not just the next.
Following The Way through constant connection with the Holy Spirit, prayer to God, communion with Jesus — these aid one’s life DAILY, HOURLY, MOMENTOUSLY.
If evidence is what one seeks, start with “Case for Christ”….
Then read the Gospels and note the connection of the New Testament to the Old…
+ + +
Frank Anderson says
C., the Case FOR Christ is written by a man many people mistake for a lawyer because he spent a year in a wannabe lawyer program. It takes 3 or 4 years in law school, plus an application for examination of “character and fitness” PLUS being admitted to and passing a bar examination lasting 3 days to be licensed by the supreme court of at least one state to be a lawyer. The book is completely ONE SIDED and fails to even remotely examine the story that was written over nearly 300 years before being frozen by command of Emperor Constantine and HIS Council. Why was there an argument lasting more than 100 years concerning the divinity of Jesus that was finally settled by ORDER? See, “Christology”. Consider reading Who Wrote the New Testament by Burton Mack. Also consider reading Jews, God and History, by Rabbi Max Dimont. What would Jesus, a Jewish man, do?
I do not need to prove to others what I BELIEVE has been shown to me. Whether others believe, understand or accept MY belief is not important. It helps me live and face the challenges of life. Considering the tests I survive, it seems to be working well. I hope yours works as well for you.
Rufolino says
Incidentally, I see nothing specifically “Catholic” about the artist Michelangelo or his works of art.
Within himself Michelangelo was a devoted Christian humanist who, in particular, was deeply stirred by the human body as an expression of the Glory of God.
He naturally required commissions and patronage, and laboured for “the powers that be” in his time: the Catholic Church. There was little alternative.
Not a “Catholic” commission, the stupendous Tombs of the Medici in Florence are possibly closest to his inner cosmos.
Wellington says
I do.
The Protestant world is to be congratulated on liberating mankind from an indirect, layered approach to some possible existing deity; here the Protestant world bettered the Catholic world with all kinds of concomitant results, especially with respect for the idea of self-government, but only the Catholic world could have produced the extraordinary sculpture, painting and architecture PRECISELY because of the Catholic world’s wont for a baroque access to God.
Fascinating and instructive that every great Christian religious painter with one exception, Rembrandt, was Catholic. Think this is just a coincidence, Rufolino?

Thanks for the link, CRUSADER. I don’t mean to be difficult but the way I view what happened to this man was that he was severely injured and, while so, certain biochemical processes due to severe shock took over which gave him a feeling of euphoria, replete with visions, and then slowly he recovered and then interpreted these biochemical reactions we do not fully understand yet, and may never understand completely so complex is the human body, in a spiritual vein.
With this example I have shown what the great Scottish philosopher, David Hume, asserted some two hundred and fifty years ago, i.e., that no miracle can be accepted unless the non-miraculous explanation for the event in question would be even more extraordinary than the miraculous explanation. Following this line of reasoning by Hume, which I think is eminently correct, I know of no claimed miracle, in religious works or in everyday modern life (or in past times), for which a non-miraculous explanation cannot be given and which is NOT more extraordinary than the miraculous explanation.
Understand, it is POSSIBLE that miracles occur but Hume’s directive insures that only one with faith can accept them since never is Hume’s “condition” for miracles met.

Tolerance and co-existence are both great! In fact, they are necessary. If we are to live together in peace without hating each other, or physically harming each other, over differences in race, culture, sexual orientation, political views, and religious beliefs, we must have tolerance. However, we must also recognize that every belief can’t be equally valid. If two beliefs directly contradict each other, both of them cannot be true, no matter how “tolerant” we become. This means it is false to say that every religion is true, or that every religion leads to God. When people make such claims they are showing that they have not taken the time to study the world’s religions, because a brief reading of the sacred texts of only a handful of religions quickly reveals contradictions on the most fundamental levels.
Jesus is the Savior of all people groups. He is the Savior of the Buddhist, the Hindu, the Muslim, the Jew, the Satanist, the Atheist, the homosexual, the heterosexual, the republican, and the democrat – all people. C, you can try to cram that view down my throat or you can accept that there is more than one way to see Jesus. The Christian myth was created by people and organized (canonized) by committees ultimately to satisfy a Roman Emperor to use for his purposes. Jesus, a Jewish man, would be confused and disappointed with what has been done with his life, teaching and sacrifice by humans after his death. How many books were excluded by Constantine’s committee from the New Testament because they did not follow the desired narrative? My purpose is to deliberately pursue mental health relying on as few delusions and assumptions as necessary for me to function. it’s very easy for the pope to talk and try to tell other nations what kind of national polices those countries should have regarding the mass influx of Muslim migrants into the other nations of Europe , as France,Germany Denmark, and so forth. The duty of those nations is to protect and safety and lives in of its citizens of the European countries . ,Many of those Muslim migrants who were allowed in such countries as just mentioned have shown no regard for the laws of those nations and no respect and regard for lives of the citizens of those European nations. This is because many of those Muslim migrants have proven this ,time and time again, by their own lawless vicious, violent and even murderous actions .
Therefor pope Francis by being for allowing such a reckless influx of Muslim migrant he also has shown no regard for the safety of protection of human life of the people of France ,Germany Denmark etc. . As in the pope is showing no regard for the value of the human lives if the European people. How unchristian of him.
In addition . its also easy for the pope to talk in such ways for he will never be a victim of Muslim crime or Islamic terrorism as he lives , with guards , behind the tall strong thick walls ,borders , of the nation that is Vatican City.
Rufolino says
Yes Walter,
It is now forgotten that for CENTURIES it was always understood that the FIRST DUTY of every king or prince was:
A) to make secure the borders of his state, and
B) to preserve and protect the safety and wellbeing of his own people.
This ancient principle has now been generally abandoned in Europe. (With the pope’s encouragement.) With catastrophic results.

“Rome, city of bridges, never walls!”
I suppose it was too much to hope for, that Pope Francis might just this once demonstrate some knowledge of history.
The Arab raid against Rome took place in 846 A.D. Muslim raiders plundered the outskirts of the city of Rome, sacking the basilicas of Old St Peter’s and St Paul’s-Outside-the-Walls, and helping themselves to fabulous treasures, but were prevented from entering the city itself by the Aurelian Wall.
And after the raid, to protect places outside the Aurelian Wall from future Arab raiders, Pope Leo built the Leonine Wall.

6 of the 7 Catholic Seas were conquered by Islam. Rome was the only sea that did not fall. As you mentioned, the wall saved it. I would like to think that Francis doesn’t know this, but I’m sure that he does. He acts as if he wants to destroy the Church that he is supposed to lead.

This was just after the time of the legendary Pope Joan. Not that I believe that.

Sometimes I fear that Jesus is telling this pope to aid, abet and hasten the islamization of post christian western europe in order to exact a terrible punishment on those peoples who have ceased to believe in him. I see little in the military, political, economic, social, religious or intellectual western european environment that can or will stop or reverse the inevitability of islam (Robert Spencer’s courageous and consistent efforts being an exception). The islam population numbers on the ground in western europe today are simply too overwhelming.
I keep going back to two thoughts: Ezekiel recounting that god will leave a remnant that shall escape the sword among the nations(eastern europe?) and a catholic author who recently wrote that when Jesus promised the gates of hell would not prevail against his church; he did not say hell would not prevail against his church in the west.
Carolyne says
Would. A “Loving God” exact a “terrible punishment” on His people? Does that really make sense to you? I thought that Jesus was kind and gentle and would never have a fit of anger. Geez.

What a fool–doesn’t he know he lives behind a wall built to protect the Vatican after Muslim raids on Rome in the early Middle Ages?
Khushi says
He really is truly foolish. And not just that, he is dishonest too. He wants to keep himself germ free by pulling his hand back from people who are kissing the ring, but he wants others to welcome and hug North Africans who are probably carrying so many germs within them. HYPOCRITE.
Carolyne says
And he kisses their feet. Yuck.

Leading and rebuilding his shrinking church in the US

The walls around the Vatican were built to keep MUSLIM INVADERS OUT OF THE VATICAN.
Italy must increase its border patrol or else there will be no more Italy and the country will become a colony of Algeria and Libya.
Aussie Infidel says
Rome didn’t welcome Muslims 1,200 years ago! Why should it welcome them now? Anyone who has been to the Vatican would have noticed its massive perimeter walls. Does Pope Francis not understand that those walls were built by one of his predecessors, Pope Leo IV, to repel the Muslim Saracen pirates? The same can be said for other cities around the Mediterranean like Dubrovnik in Croatia.
https://www.wnd.com/2016/02/those-vatican-walls-designed-to-repel-muslims/
Those Muslim invaders were the scourge of the Mediterranean for over 1,000 years, raiding coastal towns and cities, and making off with ‘booty of war’ and slaves – particularly women for sex-slaves for their harems. Contrary to popular belief, the Saracens were also the primary cause of the ‘Dark ages’ in Europe, because they virtually brought commerce and trade to a standstill for centuries.
The Saracens were also known as the Barbary Pirates, and raided US shipping in the Med as late as the 19th century, before President Jefferson put a stop to their nefarious activities. That’s why the US Marine’s Hymn includes the line, “The shores of Tripoli.”
It’s about time that Francis saw the world as it is – and not as he would like it to be. Jesus advised Christians to “love your enemies”; but in doing so, did he also expect them to commit religious and cultural suicide?
The Pope also claims that “authentic Islam and the proper reading of the Koran are opposed to every form of violence.” Where did Francis get that erroneous idea from? His friendly local imam or dawa agent? Muslims simply count on the fact that most Westerners have not read their holy book – and that probably includes Pope Francis. How else would Francis interpret the following verses from the Quran?
“So let those fight in the cause of Allah (jihad) who sell the life of this world for the Hereafter. And he who fights in the cause of Allah and is killed or achieves victory – We will bestow upon him a great reward [Paradise – and all those virgins].” (Quran 4:74).
“They wish you would disbelieve as they disbelieved so you would be alike. So do not take from among them allies until they emigrate for the cause of Allah . But if they turn away, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them and take not from among them any ally or helper.” (Quran 4:89).
“And fight them until there is no fitnah (opposition) and [until] the religion, all of it, is for Allah. And if they cease – then indeed, Allah is Seeing of what they do.” (Quran 8:39).
“And when the sacred months have passed, then kill the polytheists (Pagans & Christians) wherever you find them and capture them and besiege them and sit in wait for them at every place of ambush. But if they should repent, establish prayer, and give zakah, let them [go] on their way. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.” (Quran 9:5). This is the infamous ‘Verse of the sword’. To Muslims, ‘Repent’ means to accept Islam; and then of course there is no need for further fighting.
“O Prophet, fight against the disbelievers and the hypocrites and be harsh upon them. And their refuge is Hell, and wretched is the destination.” (Quran 9:73).
Despite the bleatings of ‘useful idiots’ like Pope Francis, Islam is not a ‘religion of peace’. It never has been, and it never will be. Every generation before us understood very well that Islam was a ‘religion of the sword’. Only in this post-modernist world – with its unholy alliance between Islam and the Left, particularly in the universities – have students been brain washed with propaganda to the contrary.
All this makes the Pope’s recent criticism of President Trump’s attempt to build a border wall between the US and Mexico hypocritical. Francis needs to learn that the Muslims regard all non-Muslims as kafirs (unbelievers or infidels) and the “enemies of Allah”, and why their old maxim, “First the Saturday people (the Jews), and then the Sunday people (the Christians)” is becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy. The Muslims have already succeeded in driving out most of the Jews from the regions they control – and now they have the Christians in their sights.
Wake up Francis, before your Catholicism goes the same way as the Pantheon of Gods in Ancient Rome which preceded it.

CRUSADER says
Saracen originally meant “untrustworthy”, “thief” and “brigand” — correct?
Aussie Infidel says
Crusader, I’m not sure if there is any other specific meaning. The most comprehensive info I have is on Wikipedia. Some people in academia might have more. It seems that originally the Saracens were Muslim tribesmen from the Petra-Sinai region. I visited Petra a few years ago, but never heard any mention of Saracens (it was all about the Nabateans). And similarly, my uncle who fought in the Sinai against the Turks during WW I, never mentioned Saracens in any of the many tales he told.
My Macquarie Dictionary (2nd ed. 1981) defines Saracen as n. 1. (among the later Romans and Greeks) a member of the nomadic tribes on the Syrian borders of the Roman Empire. 2. (in later use) an Arab. 3. any Muslim or Mohammedan, esp. with reference to the Crusades. I have no doubt that Muslim tribesmen would have been up to their usual tricks of robbing, pillaging, and abducting their neighbours wherever they lived – and probably long before Muhammad’s time too. It was the way of life back then amongst the nomadic tribes, who lived according to the ‘rule of the clan’.

“Saracen” per the Oxford English Dictionary is Middle English, from the Old French “Sarrazin”, via late Latin from late Greek “Sarakēnos”, perhaps from Arabic “šarqī”, which meant “eastern”.
Rather convoluted–but during the Crusades it referred to the Muslims of the Levant and north Africa.

Rule of the Clan, very Arab, very tribal, VERY MOSLEM in its nature.
Saracen is very apt.
We should bring the term back to more common use.

There is an excellent book titled ‘The Rule of the Clan’ by Mark S Weiner, an American lawyer. A friend gave me a copy for Christmas some years ago. It explains a lot about clan based societies – including the Arabs.

Robert, I’m reading a signed copy of your book, “The History of Jihad.” Thank you.
Will you please send a copy of your book to his Holiness signed by you saying that you hope it opens his eyes to the reality of Islam.
Frank Anderson says
P, I suggest while it sounds like a good idea, there are too many “yes” people around him to ever let RS’s book in the same room. The Pope is only the tip of an iceberg of collaborators with islam. Any effort that involves “showing” displeasure or “making” a statement only triggers some form of reprisal. The only exception I see is the approach I took when the local community went blind, deaf and dumb on the subject of islam, convincing me it was time to move on. Reasonable people may differ. Unfortunately I see the situation as similar to the self-destructive attack by Eli Wallach on the village protected by Yul Brenner in the Magnificent Seven. If they had “moved on” the bandits would have lived. To our opposition, we are nothing more than bandits in their quest for control.

This is not going to end well for anyone.
