Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Italy: Crosses covered in cemetery to avoid offending Muslims

Apr 12, 2019 1:00 pm By Christine Douglass-Williams

“The crosses on graves in an Italian cemetery in Pieve di Cento have been covered with black cloth so as not to offend those who may come from another religion.”

This absurd disregard for Christians and rejection of Italy’s Christian heritage does not constitute tolerance of people of other faiths. The Christian cemetery management is enabling Islamic supremacists. Adherents of no other religion have shown hostility toward crosses and the Christian faith in the West.

Nor is this the first time this has happened. Take for example, the fact that in 2016, “the-Prime Minister Matteo Renzi had statues at the Capitoline Museum covered entirely so as not to offend Iranian President Hassam Rouhani who had come to Italy on a state visit. The move was met with widespread derision from the public on social media,” and it should have, and as should the cemetery’s decision to cover crosses.

Also noted in the article below is the fact that in Italy, there is currently a selling-off of Christian property to Muslim organizations.

Fortunately, Italy has a leader who, although widely demonized by globalists for resisting the Islamization of Italy, is persistent in protecting the Christian roots of his country. Last year, Matteo Salvini’s League party “introduced a bill in the Italian parliament requiring crucifixes in all public buildings.”

“Crosses in Italian Cemetery Covered to Avoid Offence to Other Religions,” by Chris Tomlinson, Breitbart, April 9, 2019 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):

The crosses on graves in an Italian cemetery in Pieve di Cento have been covered with black cloth so as not to offend those who may come from another religion.

The cemetery, which is located in Bologna in a town of around 7,000 people, has also installed motorised blackout curtains in a local chapel following renovations to hide Roman Catholic symbols during ceremonies involving other denominations, Il Giornale reports.

Following the reports of the coverings of the symbols, many have expressed criticism including Forza Italia (Forward Italy) deputy Galeazzo Bignami who denounced the move saying those looking not to offend were disrespecting Christian values and he added, “even more so the memory of our dead, hiding them behind ‘motorised tents’ in a cemetery to avoid offending other religions.”

“If the administrators are ashamed of our tradition and our culture, they should go and hide themselves and not just behind a motorised tent. If they are not able to bring respect for the living at least they have the decency to leave the dead alone and not involve them in foolishness,” he added.

Conservative-populist Brothers of Italy (FdI) leader Giorgia Meloni also commented on the case saying, “Using the excuse of respect for others, they lack respect for our Catholic culture and our traditions. Now the Left is beyond fanaticism. This is ideological delirium.”

The incident is also unlikely to have been well met by populist Interior Minister Matteo Salvini’s League party which proposed in 2018 to require a crucifix be hung in all public buildings including train stations, airports, universities, and embassies.

The covering up of the crosses is also not the first time Italians have covered up statues and monuments so as not to offend those from different cultures.

In 2016, the-Prime Minister Matteo Renzi had statues at the Capitoline Museum covered entirely so as not to offend Iranian President Hassam Rouhani who had come to Italy on a state visit. The move was met with widespread derision from the public on social media…….

In the UK Christians can be the worst type of wishy-washy liberals welcoming moslems, letting them introduce sharia law etc etc. Look at the leader of the Church of England, the Archbishop of Canterbury – he barely raises his head when Christians in African/Asian countries are persecuted by moslems, but can’t do enough for moslem migrants to the UK. And our worst and wettest Prime Minister ever, Theresa May, is a committed Christian who attends Church every week!

The first question that arises is what would Muslim be doing in a Christian cemetery. When I lived in Brunei I noted that the Christian burial sites had high fences around them so the the Muslim would not have to see the crosses. The Cross Road signs were also made with curving x’s so as not to show a cross shape. The pope needs to go to these Muslim countries more and see how strongly his religion is rejected and despised there

There are some cemeteries that have both Christian and Muslim graves in the West. Muslims are not at the point yet where they can always demand their own graveyards.

And yet the pathways themselves are crosses and the trees with their branches stand in testimony to the cross of Jesus, the cross that brought salvation to all people, even those who choose not to accept what is offered.

Because people have cloth and words but God is giver and Creator of all.

Only a few could bear to stand by Jesus at the cross— the blessed mother Mary, the Magdalene, and John.
Pray for the courage to stand at the cross.

Well… no. It does not bring salvation to those who do not accept it. It only brings salvation to those who do accept it. Salvation is not a universal blanket covering. The Bible clearly teaches that you must go through Jesus personally of your own freewill for that, (except for babies, etc.) and that few are there that end up in heaven.

      • Lydia Church says

        Apr 12, 2019 at 9:44 pm

And I’m talking about if babies die, they go to heaven. I’m not talking about infant baptism, which is of no effect. We don’t need to worry about babies, Jesus said that ‘the kingdom of heaven is made up of such as these’ when speaking of children. Acts chapter 8 goes into detail on exactly who is eligible for baptism, in particular the ending verses.

  7. Alarmed Pig Farmer says

    Apr 12, 2019 at 2:26 pm

I’m neither surprised nor upset by this, for two reasons:

    1) Most Christians in Italy don’t believe in Yahweh, and won’t miss the symbol of Jesus hidden under canvas bags.

    2) The Moslems are special needs worshippers. The assertion of a competitor religion sends them into a murderous rage, and nobody wants their imported Moslems out there murdering.

So it all makes sense, both sides get what they want. The whole Islam vs. Christianity is a remake of Godzilla vs. Rodan. As millions of Moslems float into Italy from Libya, Godzilla gets hungrier and Rodan is headed to crash into a paying stone street somewhere in the home country of Roman Catholicism. At least Eastern Orthodox Catholicism put up a fight before they were quelched; the Italians are volunteering.

  8. mateenelass says

    Apr 12, 2019 at 2:34 pm

Fair is fair. So Muslim women should be stripped of hijabs and burqas so as not to offend Western sensibilities. And halal foods should not be openly advertised in Europe. And mosques should not be able to sound the adhan from their minarets within city limits. And Muslim worshippers should not be allowed to pray in public, particularly in groups that block traffic and pedestrians. And so on!

    • abad says

It would be much better for the western world to deport Moslems back to the Middle East.

Prior to the Moslem invasion of the western world, nobody, and I mean, nobody cared if Moslems killed each other in the Middle East.

“as part of renovations at the chapel, in case any workers of different faiths were offended. ”

Pieve di Cento is a town of around 7,000 people, located just north of Bologna in Northern Italy. Although Bologna and the surrounding region is home to a small but growing number of Muslims, the Catholic Church still reigns supreme, with nine out of ten residents calling themselves Catholics.

Locals were surprised, then, when someone at a cemetery in Pieve di Cento erected black sheets to hide crucifixes on the graves, Il Giornale reported on Monday. The sheets went up as part of renovations at the chapel, in case any workers of different faiths were offended. Inside the chapel itself, blackout curtains on motorized rails obscure the crosses when work is being carried out.

They bury their own in Muslim cemeteries. This is religious intolerance. Why are they allowed to NOT tolerate our religions, while we have to tolerate theirs? This double standard is quite disconcerting. Are we allowed to ask for the crescent over their mosques to be covered?

Perhaps another reason in detesting the cross, in that it is to be broken. Another way of not falling under the “spell or temptation of the cross”.
The Prophet said: There is no prophet between me and him, that is, Jesus. He will descent (sic) (to the earth)… He will break the cross , kill swine, and abolish jizyah. Allah will perish all religions except Islam.

Just more denial of Jesus and acquiescence to the false god allah.

A Christian can never do this sort of thing. It is not our job to worry about not offending anyone. That is not part of our duty. I’m not saying we set out intending to offend either, but the cookie will crumble as it will and whosoever gets offended, is welcome to get offended!

Spiritual warfare on a physical level:
This gets into the area of offensive and defensive displays (offensive in the sports definition, or warfare).
Once a territory is marked, the marker must stay up. If you remove it, you deny Jesus and you relinquish that territory to the enemy. We can never ‘cover up’ such a display. We may not be able to put one up everywhere for logistical reasons, but once it’s there it stays there. Do not retreat from that no matter what. I go around everywhere making displays in diverse ways and they stay up. If a cross goes up somewhere, it stays up. I don’t remove it for anyone for any reason. (This can be a decoration, a necklace, a website post or comment, etc.) The same principle applies to whatever the Christian symbol or item or comment or belief is.

We are to be witnesses of Jesus, and that includes displays like crosses. We put them up proudly and in honor of God and don’t care who they offend. If they get offended, too bad! Cry me a river!
Besides, no one is promised to be shielded from everything that will ever offend them in life!
If people from other religions are offended, let them go back home!

I decide what my beliefs are, and then I live by them, and that includes displays of crosses. I walk boldly and don’t cower to anyone or modify anything to appease anyone or tip toe around in any way. It does take guts, and guts that I see many lack. And this is a Biblical principle as we see in Matthew 10; 32-33. If you confess Jesus you will be His, if you deny Him, you won’t be His. If you’re not His, guess whose you are? There is only one other option, and it ain’t a good one.

    Never retreat!

The Europeans are on the highway to destruction. From fascism to extreme negation, Europeans have led the way; and it is a shame that the liberals in India are emulating them without any thought of the consequences. We need some multicultural is, but not to this absurd and suicidal extent. In the wild animals of the same species stick together. Let it be so with humans too. The ancestors of modern Italians fought hard to unite and preserve the Italian state and identity. But the contemporary Italians are undermining their own identity. A state without a core language, culture or ethnicity is like a wh0rehouse.

This is gutless, craven cowardice. We go to ridiculous lengths to accommodate the Muzz. The least they can do is get used to the fact that, if they insist on coming to a non-Muslim culture, they must expect to find, and must get used to, non-Muslim ways.

Why is that so hard to understand ?

Covering crosses is in any case woefully inadequate, as it is Christianity and its exaltation of Christ as Saviour, Lord and God that Islam hates. The Christian preaching of Christ Crucified and Raised is a great offence, that compounds the offence of Christian belief in the Incarnation – covering a few crosses or crucifixes will not eliminate or lessen these other offences to Muslim sensibilities.

    And thank God for that.
