In AD 134, the Romans had expelled the Jews from Judea after the Bar Kokhba revolt and renamed the region Palestine. The Romans had plucked this name from the Bible; it was the name of the Israelites’ ancient enemies, the Philistines. But never did the term “Palestinian” refer to anything but a region — not to a people or an ethnicity. In the 1960s, however, the KGB and Hajj Amin al-Husseini’s nephew Yasir Arafat created both these allegedly oppressed people and the instrument of their freedom — the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). The idea of a “Palestinian people” is one of the most successful propaganda fictions in human history.
Find out how “Palestinian” jihadis and their allies exploit this false claim about Jesus in my forthcoming book The Palestinian Delusion: The Catastrophic History of the Middle East Peace Process, which you can preorder here.
“Wiesenthal Center: ‘Grotesque’ for Omar, NYT to Say Jesus Was Palestinian,” by Aaron Bandler, Jewish Journal, April 23, 2019 (thanks to the Geller Report):
Rabbi Abraham Cooper, associate and director of Global Social Action Agenda at the Simon Wiesenthal Center, called out Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and The New York Times for promulgating the notion that Jesus was a Palestinian.
Omar re-tweeted an April 20 tweet from Omar Suleiman, an adjunct professor for Islamic Studies at Southern Methodist University, who said a Palestinian relative told him regarding the “Christian right”: “Don’t they know we’re Christian too? Do they even consider us human? Don’t they know Jesus was a Palestinian?”
Similarly, an April 19 New York Times piece focusing on various depictions of Jesus Christ’s skin color stated, “Jesus, born in Bethlehem, was most likely a Palestinian man with dark skin.”
Cooper told the Journal in a statement via email that it’s a “grotesque insult to Jesus born in the land of Israel and to Christianity” to say that Jesus was a Palestinian.
“Palestine was a name made up by Romans after they crucified thousands, destroyed the Holy Temple in Jerusalem and exiled the People of Israel from their homeland,” Cooper said…

JERUSALEM and ZION? Not JEWISH? The words appear 850 times in the Bible as such. The Bible is in fact a very Zionist book and Jesus revealed himself in it as a very patriotic Israelite.
Jesus spoke as an Israelite by nationality and a Jew by religion: “We Jews know whom we worship because it is from the Jews that salvation comes.” (John 4.22)
Jesus Christ declares himself a pious Jew, and as a descendant of King David {Matthew 1 v 17} would have no difficulty accepting modern Israel’s prophetically-promised right to exist.
Jerusalem only took on interest to Muslims when the infamous Nazi Mufti Mohammed Amin al-Husseini promoted the genocidal 1920s myth that “Jews are destroying Al Aqsa”, thus taking Jerusalem out of the shadows of irrelevance where it had been for centuries. The Mufti was a friend of Hitler, Himmler and Adolf Eichmann. Husseini encouraged the genocidal extermination of Jews and used the Dome of the Rock as an issue to motivate Arabs to hate Jews.
The Shrine of Omar built on the site of Jewish first and second temples was built 60 years after the death of Mohammed. Mohammed never visited this place because it was a rubbish dump at the time.
Islamic traditions were written down over 200 years after the events they describe and often the location of them is reassigned for dynastic political reasons. Islamic traditions have been rejected by scholars as almost entirely unreliable. Thus, Islam is a political religion built upon political fabrications, rather than on historical events.

The DNA of European Jews reveals that they have origin in the Near East. The DNA of the so-called Palestinians with a lineage from the 1800s, reveals that they are descended from Jews living in the region under Ottoman domination and who were forcibly converted to Islam around the late 1700s.
If Sabri S. considers himself a Pally, then he likely has Jewish DNA from those forcibly converted to Islam against their will.

ARAB LEADERS CLAIMED THE ‘PALESTINIAN’ idea was fabricated to deceive …
“Never forget this one point: there is no such thing as a Palestinian people. There is no Palestinian entity … Palestine is an integral part of Syria.” – Hafez al-Assad to Yasser Arafat
“The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct “Palestinian people” to oppose Zionism. For tactical reasons, Jordan, which is a sovereign state with defined borders, cannot raise claims to Haifa and Jaffa, while as a Palestinian, I can undoubtedly demand Haifa, Jaffa, Beer-Sheva and Jerusalem. However, the moment we reclaim our right to all of Palestine, we will not wait even a minute to unite Palestine and Jordan.”- PLO representative Zouhair Muhsen in 1977, speaking to a Dutch newspaper
ARAB LEADERS CLAIMED THAT “PALESTINE” was the invention of JEWS !!!
“There is no such country as Palestine. ‘Palestine’ is a term the Zionists invented. There is no Palestine in the Bible… Palestine is alien to us.” – Awni Abdul-Hadi, Peel Commission testimony, 1937
“There is no such thing as Palestine in history. Absolutely not.” – Arab historian, Dr. Philip Hitti, Anglo-American Committee testimony, 1946

Jesus spoke Aramaic, a precursor of Arabic. (And was almost certainly married with children.)
So was not a Jew. There were very few Jews in Israel. The language was confined to a priestly minority at that time.
The Bible has been heavily edited to suit the myths and politics current at that time.
Checkout “Synods of Antioch”

Jesus spoke Aramaic so he was not a Jew? Sorry, but that’s nonsense. Most Jews in Israel (and Babylon) spoke Aramaic at that time. It’s similar to Hebrew. It was the lingua franca of the region. The Talmud and some of the Jewish liturgy, including the well-known Kaddish, is in Aramaic

Richard says
Dear Mortimer: You make a BRILLIANT point that utterly destroys the “Jesus was a Palestinian” argument for ever. Yes, Palestine was never a nation, but it did and does exit as a place, like the Grand Canyon in the U.S. But Jesus would have been horribly insulted to be called a Palestinian because of your point that it was named for the Philistines, of whom God said ‘Kill the men. Kill the women. Kill their children. Kill their animals ,etc. God felt this way not because of their race, but because they all worshipped demons. A Palestinian would have been about the worst thing you could call Christ. Magnificent point!
mateenelass says
Hardly likely that Jesus would have felt insulted by the term “Philistine.” Even less likely that anyone would have thought of using it as an insult. The Philistines as a people/nation had been eradicated by 600 BC. There were lots of other timely insults available to use, and many of them were used against Jesus — Samaritan, demon-possessed, drunkard, friend of sinners, partner of Beelzebul, Law-breaker, etc.
The more pertinent point is that Philistia was not a recognized region by that name for over half a millennium by the time of Jesus’ earthly life, and the name would not be resurrected for usage until over 100 years after his ascension, and that by the pagan Roman Empire, as noted above, in a move to deprive the rebellious Jews of their homeland and birthright.
Rufolino says
Jesus “would have felt insulted” ?
But it occurs to me to wonder ifJesus EVER “felt insulted”, about anything. He apparently didn’t suffer from pride.
He was a realist, and could get angry alright, as when he cleared out the Temple.
But despite the horrific and unjust humiliations hurled at him during his Passion, Jesus never, apparently, felt insulted by them. He never raged at what was done.
He said “they do not know what they are doing”.

Kilfncent, not only them. Western governments are not Communist but look at the two new races they discovered recently, Bosnians and Kosovars. Neither race has ever existed before the 90s. Kosovo is only a region in southern Serbia which was is populated by Albanians, Serbs and small numbers of minorities. Now all of a sudden Kosovars as a race exist and Bosnia was populated by Serbs, Croats and Muslims. Now those Muslims have to have a separate ethnic group because they too were given independence and need to be a separate race. Ask any Serb or Croat from that region what race they are and they will never say Bosnian.
These things happen for political purposes and new races are made all the time. If left how it is in a hundred years or so everyone will believe that those races always existed. Children in the west are already learning in schools about the new reality as if it were fact.

Much of the life of the historical Jesus is a blank. As far as I’m concerned he went away to the hills and became a rabbi of the Essene order, which was an ascetic order. He came back down the hill at 33 yrs of age that the rest is history. That Arabs are also semites is as close as Jesus gets to that, he was a pure Jew.
william rodgers says
There has been much confusion over the years about the terms Arab and Muslim or Muhammadan being used interchangeably. Followers of the Cult of Muhammad are not necessarily Arabs. People also have been led to believe that Muhammadans are an ancient religion. Fact is that Muhammad was a Bedouin trader who lived in tents; a migrant tribal leader who hung out around the cities of Mecca and Medina on the Arabian Peninsula. He created his Pagan Tribal Cult in around 620 AD, so it is not “Ancient”. The Jewish Tribes of Abraham were all over the Middle East for thousands of years. Abraham received his Covenant for the area known today as Israel in 1943 BC [April 10 ]to be exact which is the key to the validity of the Holy Scriptures.
The Word of the Bible is true and accurate by historic, Archaeological, and secular writings. It is exact. However, Saudi Arabia comprised of many other Bedouin tribes was not formed as a country until 1744 AD. A big part of Muhammad’s Taqiyya is his claim that because of Abraham’s illegitimate son, Ishmael,by his wife’s Egyptian servent Muhammad claimed to be part of the Jewish Covenant. However, unlike the Jews muhammadans have no accurate historic writings that can go back even one generation into muhammad’s family tree. In fact, unlike the Jews who were prolific writers, accountants and record keepers bedouins ,like muhammad , were mostly illiterate. Thus, the muhammadan lie that they can trace their heritage back over 2000 years easily falls flat in the face of historical fact. So no Arabs are not semites nor are they related to the tribes of Abraham. Even the term Semite was a mistaken misnomer coined by a German history professor in 1770 in an attempt to trace the history of Shem and Noaha’s other 3 sons. Lord knows he got that all wrong, and his attempt at etymology was as dismal as his knowledge of the Bible Scriptures. Do not be misled by Satan’s agents who have laid historic IED’s like this all over Academia. I Corinthians 3:19 ” For the wisdom of men is foolishness to God; HE is the One Who catches the wise in their Craftiness”
elee says
The Arabs are also considered to be Semites, but they are newcomers to the Levant. In the time of the Two Kingdoms they start turning up as occasional bit players in the history of the area. Likewise during the Roman times, there were one or another kingdoms—-“Arabia Petraea” for example—again, at the periphery of the area. They swept in after the death of the Fat Dwarf and were as heartily welcomed there as they were by the Berbers elsewhere. So not only do the Gospels tell us He was a Jew, any Semite in the area when He lived was not an Arab. And needless to say neither Jesus nor the “Palestinians” have anything to do with the historic Palestine, the land named for the Philistines, who were not Semites.
carpediadem says
The word Arab is just shorthand for Arab Muslims in Israel even though it is not, as you say, strictly correct. It is a handy idiom.

Any restrictions on Arabs living in Israel are due to the frequent murderous betrayals, breaking of treaties with refusal of Muslim Arabs to accept Israel as a sovereign nation.

COMPLETE FABRICATION AND HOODWINKERY from Omar Ilhan !
Jesus is never called a ‘Palestinian’ or any other nationality besides Jewish or Israelite in the New Testament. The word ‘Palestine’ does not appear in the Koran.
Jesus identified himself as an ‘ISRAELITE’ by nationality and a Jew by religion: “We Jews know whom we worship because it is from the Jews that salvation comes.” (John 4.22)
Jesus gave one his highest compliments to Nathaniel, “Behold an Israelite indeed in whom is no guile!” (John 8:31,39)
The New Testament mentions ISRAEL or ISRAELITE dozens of times, but never to the ‘Palestine’.
The New Testament refers to Jesus as ‘Shepherd of my people Israel’ (Matt.2.6), to the home of Mary and Joseph as ‘the land of Israel’ (Matt.2.20), to the miracles of Jesus ‘in Israel’ (Matt.9.33), to the ministry of Christ ‘to the lost sheep of the house of Israel’ (Matt.10.6), to Jesus as ‘king of Israel’ (Luke 22.30, Mk 15.32, John 1.49), to Jesus as ‘the hope of Israel’ (Acts 28.20).
Moreover, ‘Jerusalem’ is not mentioned in the Koran even one time.
Omar Ilhan is attempting to FABRICATE her own historical facts out of thin air when the historical record contracts her claims.
Ilhan reveals herself as totally dishonest, indifferent to facts and unreliable.

“Palestine” does not occur even once in the New Testament.
Neither ‘Palestina’ or ‘Philistia’ occur in the Greek New Testament.
The names ‘Palestine’ and ‘Palestina’ occur only four times in the entire Old Testament portion of the King James Bible.
Jesus was born in “the Land of Judah” (Matt 2:6) or “the Land of Israel” (Matt 2:20), and he preached throughout “the Land of the Jews” (Acts 10:39) or in “Judea” (Latin name of the Province of Judaea; Matt 1:2; Mark 1:5; John 4:3).
Initially, Paul preached the Gospel “throughout all the region of JUDEA” and ministered to “the churches of JUDEA” (Acts 26:20; Gal 1:22).
The oldest known historical reference to Roman “Palestine” is in the work of Greek historian Herodotus (ca. 484). He says “Palaistine” is “part of Syria” along the Mediterranean coast.
The Koran only refers to the ‘Land of Israel’ and never to ‘Palestine’. (Qur’an 17:104)

The Romans named their province “Palaestina”. This sounds similar to “philistine” but in reality there is no linguistic, genetic, or cultural link.

The first appearance of the term “Palestine” was in 5th century BC Ancient Greece when Herodotus wrote of a “district of Syria, called Palaistinê” between Phoenicia and Egypt in The Histories.

There seems to be a lot to unpack in this story. So, the Israeli’s blocked Palestinian Christians from travel at Easter. I am sure if we investigate we find a reasonable reason for Israel doing this.
But that was linked to the word “oppression” by a Palestinian Christian it seems. Oppression in this case and in the general sense I suppose.
To me it is important that it is really Islamic Palestinians who want Israel destroyed and resist real peace that force democratic Israel to control the West Bank. And Israel is NOT so oppressive as Islamic and leftist propaganda makes it out to be. That is Ilhan Omars selection bias and anti-Semitism showing again.
It seems to me that Palestinian Christians are so brainwashed. Siding as they do with the Islamic Palestinians. So misguided.
So this Pal. Christian asks why evangelicals support Israel?! Thus are against their Pal. Fellow Christians? But to me the Pal. Christians primarily have the Islamic Pals to blame for their “controlled situation” which they call “occupation, oppression” for blocking peace by wanting to destroy Israel.
And really, if there was any freedom of speech in the West Bank, the Pal. Christians should ask the Pal. Muslims why their fellow Muslims oppress and kill so many Christians worldwide. Like the Copts in Egypt, or the Christians in Nigeria, Iran, Pakistan and just the other day the Christians in Sri Lanka. A long list.
Informed people see through the propaganda that “Israel oppresses Palestinians, among them even Christians, while other Christians support the oppressor Israeli’s”. Which is what Omar Suleiman (no doubt a Muslim) and Ilhan Omar want to convey.
But I see the situation radically different and I think Israeli’s and Christians are mostly on the decent Democratic side in this story. And that some brainwashed or maybe leftist Christians side with the aggressive, undemocratic and unreasonable, Islam-supremacists, while (a part of) Muslims definitely are much more detrimental to Christians than Israeli’s will ever be.
Demsci says
How does Ilhan Omars propaganda even work? Is she somehow saying to friendly leftists and gullible neutrals that “Israel, an oppressive nation, would also have oppressed Jesus, were he living and operating now among the Palestinians, presumably the West Bank”???
Israeli’s to be seen like ancient Romans perhaps? “Crucifying Jesus again”?

This lie that Jesus was a Palestinian comes from the rewritten false history developed by the Muslim Palestinian Authority. The false invented history tries to erase all the True History of the Jewish People in the land of Israel and replace it with a False invented history of a Palestinian People. This is all part of the Palestinian Authority propaganda to claim that the land of Israel belongs to them. This can be looked up on the Palestinian Media Watch Website under the section rewriting history. So it looks like Ilhan Omar, who is a Muslim, and is pro Palestinian believes this False rewritten version of History that comes from the Palestinian Authority. As time goes on more of Ilhan Omar’s Muslim character will come out.

The “Ya” in Arabic performs the same function as the “Yod” in Hebrew. It can serve as a consonant or be paired with a consonant and serve as a vowel.

Dov Berrol says
No surprise here. As we have learnt quite well, Muslims feel free to completely distort history to serve their agenda of taking over the world. Everything that happened before the arrival of their founder Mohammed is fair game, and is also considered happening in an era of darkness and evil. Their replacement theology as described in the Koran has the chutspa to take the stories of other civilizations and turn them on their head to devalue and demonize those non-Muslim peoples. Just like the Arab marauders who stole property and people from the caravans passing through Arabia and the ships passing by North Africa, they also stole the stories and characters of the Hebrew Tanach and Christian Bible in order to suit their selfish agendas.
Keys says
“Muslims feel free to completely distort history to serve their agenda of taking over the world”. Indeed !
And “no surprise” that groups like Nazis and Alinskyites use mechanisms very similar to the sanctified Muslim devices to achieve power and control.
Truth, civility, fairness, freedom – any good may be sacrificed for the ultimate agenda/cause for power. Might makes right – the Will to Power is Supreme.
This spirit is contrary to the goodness of the founding Judeo-Christian principles of the United States of America, and destructive to mankind.

Jesus was a Jewish hippie. As for ‘Palestine’ – it was the Romans who decided to call the region that. It was after the Jewish Revolt, Masada & all that, If you had a revolt against Roman Rule, you’d better win, as there are repercussions. They decided to change the name from JUDEA to Syria Palestina. So, they’re actually Judeans. Their “Religion” has been shown to be nothing but a Fascistic, Murderous Extortion Racket. They all know it. Their Imams/Mullahs have really nothing to offer the people. Males apparently get all the gratification, usually sexual in nature. They can do ANYTHING to any non- Muslim with impunity. From Mohammed’s own lips he said there will be 72 Tribes/sects of Muslims & only 1 gets into Heaven. The rest go to Hell. That’s 98.4% are wasting their time. As for women – again from his own lips – woman are destined for Hell. Religion is a waste of time, especially Islam & its followers.

Jesus, if we are stuck on appearance and identity politics, may have had blonde hair, light skin, blue eyes, since the Greeks were intermixing for centuries. Likely — due to His orthodox line — He would’ve looked darker in His features. But that doesn’t matter. The point of His Ministry was Divine in nature, not corruptible flesh features. Jesus wasn’t Isa…as Islam falsely preaches and screeches. Jesus didn’t do superficial things. He was Divine with His Message. And we are to take this all seriously and sincerely enough to fully understand Him. And of course, the whole “palestine” thing was after His passing from Judea….into the spirit world, upon when He sent the Comforter — the Holy Spirit to be with us, should we welcome this….
Let’s be open to what matters most.

Kepha says
The Greeks can be pretty “dark” themselves!
oldblindjohn says
There was no Bible in AD 132.
The bible wasn’t even “put together” until after the Council of Nicea in AD 432 that decided which gospels were in and which were out.
Kepha says
Not true. The Council of Nicaea if famous for declaring the classical three-persons-one-substance doctrine of the Trinity. It had no role at all in deciding the canon of either the Old or New Testament.
Kepha says
While we’re at it, the Council of Nicaea was in 325 A.D., not 432 A.D.
The Canon of the Old Testament was pretty well fixed prior to the time of Jesus, since a number of the Dead Sea Scrolls predate him (and they include all of the books of the Hebrew Bible apart from Esther); and further, the Septuagint, while including some books that do not appear in the Hebrew canon (the Apocrypha and Deuterocanon), did include the books of the Hebrew canon.
As for the New Testament, in the late 1st century people like Clement of Rome and the Didache are referencing parts of it. In the early 2d century, Ignatius of Antioch quotes it in his letters. In mid 2d century, the Letter of Polycarp is all but a pastiche of recognizable (and self-conscious) New Testament quotes, while the Epistle of [pseudo-]Barnabas also knows New Testament books and teachings. Eusebius, in summarizing what was known of the New Testament canon, cites earlier sources, and notes no dispute about the Four Gospels, the Book of Acts, Thirteen Letters of Paul, James, First Peter, and First John. He admits some questioning of II Peter, II and III John, Hebrews, Jude, and Revelation.
Constantine did provide fifty copies of the Scriptures for the use of the bishops and theologians at Nicaea, but it is clear he was paying people to copy out something already recognized rather than dictating a new canon. Constantin von Tischendorf, who was an eager hunter of old manuscripts and the discoverer of the early 4th century Codex Sinaiticus, and also one of the fathers of modern textual criticism, actually believed Sinaiticus to be one of the fifty Bibles Constantine ordered made for the use of the Council of Nicaea.
To say there was no Bible in 132 A.D. is on par with Muhammad Ali’s belief that King James wrote the Bible in 1611: a pop culture meme masquerading as learning. It is also on par with the common Muslim superstition that the “true Injil” got taken away at the Council of Iznik (Nicaea).
oldblindjohn says
There were 100’s of gospels floating around. There was no bible in the sense of what you have now. If there was bible in AD 132 which gospels were in it?
You’re right about AD 325, my bad I was doing it from memory.
mateenelass says
Additionally, the Diatesseron, a harmony (attributed to Tatian) of the four Gospels found in our Bible, is dated to around 170 AD. Likewise the Muratorian Canon, perhaps the earliest list of writings gathered as authoritative to at least a certain group of Christians, contains 21 of the 27 “books” contained in the canonical NT.
As to the claim that “there were 100’s of gospels floating around,” that is wildly overstated. By the time of the Council of Nicea the four early Gospels were clearly distinguished from the apocryphal Gospels attributed to apostles or other early church leaders but filled with post-apostolic content and themes and a lack of clear provenance.
gravenimage says
True, Kepha.
It was the the Council of Laodicea in In A.D. 363 that stated that only the Old Testament (along with the Apocrypha) and the 27 books of the New Testament were to be read in the churches. The Council of Hippo (A.D. 393) and the Council of Carthage (A.D. 397) also affirmed the same 27 books as authoritative.
Kepha says
But Laodicaea and Hippo only affirmed books that had been recognized long before. While we’re at it, they were strictly local rather than oecumenical councils.
Wellington says
oldblindjohn: The Council of Nicaea, which occurred when Constantine was sole Emperor (after “putting to rest” the last of his competitors, Licinius), took place in 325 A.D. and not, as you stated, 432 A.D. Sloppy chronology, you know, invariably leads to much other sloppiness, an example of which Kepha has already pointed out to you.
oldblindjohn says
Tried to do it from memory sorry.

I have read all of these comments. Everyone is talking about, and quoting, this fellow jesus christ. No one offers any proof to suggest that jesus christ existed. I am going with he did not.
Wellington says
Stan: In the late nineteenth and early twentieth century some scholars played around with the idea that Jesus never existed. This line of “scholarship” has now been completely discredited and is no longer accepted by any historian I know of.
Michael Grant, himself a non-religious person like myself, in his 1977 work, Jesus: An Historian’s Review Of The Gospels, wrote on page 200 of that work (which I encourage all to read, whether Christian or non-Christian): “To sum up, modern critical methods fail to support the Christ-myth story. It has again and again been answered and annihilated by first-rank scholars.” Grant was a great historian of ancient Rome and wrote voluminously on the subject. He wrote a general one-volume history of Rome which is quite well done. He also wrote biographies of Saint Paul and Constantine the Great. While living (he died in 2004) he was considered the foremost expert in the world on Roman numismatics.
You’re out of step, Stan, with modern historiography. Reconsider.
