Jihad Watch

Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

New Zealand Deputy PM under fire for saying in 2005 that Muslim communities in NZ have “militant underbelly”

Apr 2, 2019 5:00 pm By Robert Spencer

The Christchurch mosque massacres are being used to shut down any negative word related to Islam, including opposition to jihad mass murder and Sharia oppression. There could be jihad activity in New Zealand; what would be preventing it? Jihad against unbelievers is taught in the Qur’ans they read in New Zealand as much as it is in the Qur’ans they read everywhere else. So what did Winston Peters say — 14 years ago — that was false? The very fact that he is being made to answer for these statements now is a manifestation of the witch-hunt, Cultural Revolution collective hysteria that is currently gripping the public square.

“Winston Peters won’t apologise for Muslim comments,” RNZ, April 1, 2019:

Winston Peters isn’t backing down over comments he made about Muslims during a 2005 speech titled The End of Tolerance.

In that speech, he said New Zealand has always been a nation of immigrants, but not of Islamic immigrants.

“In New Zealand the Muslim community have been quick to show us their more moderate face, but as some media reports have shown, there is a militant underbelly here as well,” he said.

“These two groups, the moderate and militant, fit hand and glove everywhere they exist.

“Underneath it all the agenda is to promote fundamentalist Islam.

“Indeed these groups are like the mythical Hydra – a serpent underbelly with multiple heads capable of striking at any time and in any direction.”

In that speech, he also suggested asylum seeker Ahmed Zaoui must “chuckle at the naiveté and innocence of his supporters who clearly have no understanding of radical Islam.”

Mr Peters told Morning Report the comments were made in the context of recent terror attacks in London and that Imams around the world were saying the same thing.

“I was talking about extremism and I don’t resile from that.”…

It was all great until the final sentence. “The extremism”..

He was right in all that he said,,that they put on a “face” to show to the public, while hiding their purpose in moving there and their goals for moslims to meet…conquering the globe for islam.
He could have just repeated all he said formerly, but likely he would be on the chopping block by the PM who donned the “rape her-not me” scarf in submission.

Agreed. Not saying he was wrong. Just wish he hadn’t added the “extreme” part, but under the circumstances with the PM, he probably wanted some wiggle room. He didn’t take the other back, just put in a *modifier.*

Don’t feel too sorry for this clown, he’s the MP that went into coalition with the commie PM they have now. Conservatives won the election %wise but not enough seats to govern in their own right. This dill jumped on board the Jacinta train and handed her the keys to power. He might have criticized them 14 YEARS ago but he has empowered them now.( them being you know who).

PJ, just a few questions: does that make Winston Peters’ words any less true? Does that make the NZ witch-hunt any less real? Does it mean that, “Jihad against unbelievers is taught in the Qur’ans they read in New Zealand as much as it is in the Qur’ans they read everywhere else,” isn’t true? Is this blogpost about sympathy for Winston Peters or about the NZ PM’s suicidal virtue signalling and the consequent descent of NZ society into witch-hunting? Which is worse: NZ society’s potential death by fantasy, or NZ society’s death by irrelevant nit-picking?

You’re not going understand jihad is unless you know what it means to fight in the way of Allah.

Certainly was Allah pleased with the believers when they pledged allegiance to you, [O Muhammad], under the tree, and He knew what was in their hearts, so He sent down tranquillity upon them and rewarded them with an imminent conquest
And much war booty which they will take. And ever is Allah Exalted in Might and Wise.
Allah has promised you much booty that you will take [in the future] and has hastened for you this [victory] and withheld the hands of people from you – that it may be a sign for the believers and [that] He may guide you to a straight path.
And [He promises] other [victories] that you were [so far] unable to [realize] which Allah has already encompassed. And ever is Allah, over all things, competent.
And if those [Makkans] who disbelieve had fought you, they would have turned their backs [in flight]. Then they would not find a protector or a helper.
[This is] the established way of Allah which has occurred before. And never will you find in the way of Allah any change.
        Quran 48:18-23

Was it a Sunni mosque that was attacked in New Zealand? When talking about Muslims do we need to be even more specific than that and also ask whether they were Wahabi and what school of thought they followed, that is, Hanafi, Hanbali, Maliki or Shafi’i? Do we need to be even more specific than that when we talk about Muslims or does it really matter? Does or does not the Quran really contain everything anyone — anyone — needs to know about Islam?

I’m sure someone else who lives in Australia or New Zealand would have brought this up eventually here at Jihad Watch.. Yesterday, in the Australian parliament they were going to censure or suspend Senator Fraser Anning for his uncaring comments about Islam just after the New Zealand mosque attack. Anning refused to take back what he’d said. Anning had said that,”I merely pointed out that immigration from Muslim countries invariably escalates terror attacks. I was never blaming the victims”. He also said that the media had totally ignored all the Christians murdered by Muslims in Nigeria in the past couple of weeks. I think almost everyone here at Jihad Watch (who I think know the truth) would agree with what Anning said. This guy, Winston Peters, who I think is filling in for Ardern as Prime Minister, yesterday called Anning a “moron”. Peters said, “I could call him a jingoistic moron, but you already know that in Australia.” Just google, “Fraser Anning” and you’ll see info about this. “news.com.au” has the story about Peters calling Anning a moron. We have a very strange electoral system here in Australia and Anning somehow got into the Senate with hardly any votes, which is something Peters refers to. ( the bit about “anti-democratic”, which is true). I mentioned this to set the record straight about what Peters is about. I don’t know much about him but he seems pretty soft on Islam when he calls Anning a “moron” for his views, whereas I think Anning is closer to the truth.

Yes, Paul J, you’re right. But, as Andrew Bolt keeps saying, it is the side you are on that matters, not the principle. The left will never criticise their own. An the media will probably let a black African off without criticism as well . I support what Fraser Anning and Pauline Hanson have said about Muslim immigration, which I’m opposed to, Paul J. I’ve been writing to our politicians since 2001 calling for them to end Muslim immigration. But, although I don’t follow how this ridiculous way that many Senators get into our Parliament works ( with a handful of votes- to me the system sounds insane whenever I hear about it) I was happy that Anning somehow got there. It does seem like a crazy and undemocratic system. That Ghanaian ( or was she form Kenya?) woman seemed hopeless to me. But, what I couldn’t believe about her was when she went back to the African country she came from and said in a TV interview there that her wages weren’t high enough in the Australian Senate. I’m sure they get very well paid. I couldn’t believe that, because I thought she had done nothing and probably should have been earning the basic wage. I think that is what her abilities seemed to deserve. Many of the senators seem to get into the Senate by some kind of fluke. Remember that guy Ricky Muir. They are sort accidental senators for a while. I think he was kind of like a stunned mullet when he landed there.

My letter today in the Jerusalem Post, where I mention NZ and this website:

    New Zealand in perspective

In “Jews on the wrong side of the West’s lethal culture wars” (March 29) Melanie Phillips takes Jews to task for siding too much with the Left, which can be anti-Zionist and antisemitic. This situation could be caused by an information deficit due to a lack of balanced reporting on events in third world countries.

Consider the emphasis on the New Zealand mosque massacre, the lead story for days on most news outlets. Naturally, Jews as humanitarians and historic victims of prejudice were outraged. A person could be forgiven for thinking that white racists are on a worldwide rampage.

But as bad as that attack was, it was still a man-bites-dog story. Much more frequently, Muslims are perpetrators of hate crimes. According to Christian organization Open Doors, in an average month in 2018, 66 churches were attacked and 255 Christians killed. Radical Islam was listed as one of the prime sources of persecution, the worst offenders being North Korea, Afghanistan and Pakistan. The Daily Caller reported that 120 Christians in Nigeria were murdered by Muslim Fulani tribesmen earlier this year, but that news has been underreported, perhaps because it took place in a third world country – or maybe because black lives really don’t matter.

Westerners like to hear about themselves and take greater notice when whites are the perpetrators. The Left is especially censorious toward those who dare to discuss Islamic abuses since they are not motivated by racism or Western imperialism.

Jews should not make the same mistake they made during the Holocaust of being blinkered by mainstream news sources, and instead make an effort to get at the truth through specialized Islam-critical websites (e.g. Robert Spencer’s JihadWatch.org). Meanwhile, Jewish organizations should initiate educational courses on Islam in coordination with counter-jihad activists.

New Zealand will join the UN Compact on Migration tomorrow morning, despite a number of countries and immigration experts expressing concern over the deal.

They say if the compact is binding, it would limit freedom of speech and national sovereignty.

Peters would confront this issue when he was in Turkey, he didn’t.

He didn’t even raise it. He didn’t let the Turkish President know we were brassed off, and hurt, and disappointed. It was the elephant in the room, and he was the ostrich – he ran away from it. https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2019/03/lloyd-burr-is-winston-peters-asleep-at-the-wheel.html

The meeting with Erdogan also included the 57 countries “Organisation of Islamic Cooperation”

There is a witch hunt in New Zealand, and looking through all other peoples reports, speeches, for anything.

    Morning Report
You don’t have the range, Guyon. Or at least according to Winston, who, remembering a newspaper clipping from 100 years ago, told the veteran journalist to sit down young man.

Guyon Espiner: Have you reflected on your own comments about Muslim communities in the past in the wake of the Christchurch terror attack?

Winston Peters: What do you mean by that?

Well, for example, your speech ‘The End of Tolerance’ in 2005 where you said –

Guess what was happening in 2005 before that? Guess what was happening with 9/11. And then on to the London bombings. And guess what the Imams of London were saying, and around the Islamic world were saying about those and some of those in their midst: they were saying exactly what I said back then.
And I don’t resile from that.
And I’ve just come back from the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation where number one in their mind was Islamic state terrorism. Erdogan said it and numerous others said it. So you’ve got to understand what you’re talking about.
And I was talking about not moderate law-abiding and God-loving, or Allah-loving moderate Islam, I was talking about extremism and I don’t resile from that.

Ok well you said in that speech that moderate Muslims were operating hand-in-glove with extremists. You said, quote, ‘this two-faced approach is how radical Islam works’.

Let me stop you right there, I know what I said, I’m not happy to have you repeat misinformation, I said –

Well it’s your own speech Mr Peters.

Look you just said that, that’s the third time. I’m talking about what Islamic moderate leaders were saying themselves –

No, no, I’m talking about what you said as a leader in New Zealand.

I know that Guyon, I’m repeating what I said when I got it from them. They were the first ones that said that, they were saying ‘we have to, those of us who are moderate, we have to, not let these people abuse us, we’ve got to call them out ourselves.’

You said the New Zealand Muslim community have been quick to show us their moderate face but there is a militant underbelly as well, these groups are like the mythical Hydra you said, a serpent underbelly with multiple heads capable of striking at any time, and in any direction. You don’t resile at all from that speech?

Look, stop trying to be the state prosecutor here alright? You’re just not up to it. Let me tell you, I talked to the foreign minister for Pakistan, he said ‘Mr Peters, I understand what your country is going through, let me tell you: we’ve had 70,000 people die from similar events in recent years ourselves.’ This is a leading Islamic country, they understand what clearly you don’t, trying to make some narrow political point this morning.

In 2013 you defended one of your own MPs Richard Prosser, who said that if you were young and male –

    Here we go again –

… You should banned from riding on planes.

No I didn’t defend him, I didn’t defend him, I sent him down to the mosque to get an education. He went down to a mosque and for two weeks he got an education, and resiled to never saying those things again.

You said, quote, in February 2013, ‘there’s an element of truth to what he’s saying’

Well, the word ‘Wogistan’ came out of the NBR, that’s the National Business Review – you remember that? No you don’t. I do. All I was saying is –

No, he wrote the piece for Investigate magazine Mr Peters.

    – it started with the leading business or commercial newspaper in this country.

No, no, he wrote the piece for Investigate magazine. But it’s probably neither here nor there.

No he got the phrase ‘Wogistan’ from the National Business Review from many years before. All I’m trying to tell you because you’ve been pretty brief in this business, is the real history behind what he said. And I sent him down to a mosque to get himself educated, which he did. Remember that?

So you don’t resile from any of your comments about the Muslim community at all? You’ve got no problem with what you’ve said, you’ve thought about it and you think that was fine?

I can listen to people like you Guyon, or I can tell you I’ve been off to see 57 countries, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, who have got a serious round of applause and some people actually crying in the aisles when we told them the truth about New Zealand and showed them a video. We went there to ensure that we were not misunderstood. That’s what I’m more keen to do, rather than have this repetitive, stupid, mindless argument about what you think. https://thespinoff.co.nz/politics/02-04-2019/winston-peters-media-rounds-this-morning-were-an-absolute-tour-de-force/

A well practiced politician, and keeping his cards close to the chest, with double speech. But look at what he has signed, the UN migration Pact.
Having a go at an Australian senator who queried immigration, being a cause, even though that senator did express condolences for the tragedy.
Keeping his powder dry, with the gun debate, and so it remains to be seen just what will he throw under the bus?, He is the one who announced the new gun laws, and only one day for public submissions. It would seem democracy has been thrown under the bus.
Still sounding firm with “free speech” but still saying something has to be done.

        Yes Westman.
That is a good point of the media making the news, and in some ways seeing Winston Peters taking it to them is small joy.

However as I see it, is that Winston does not stand by those supposed principles, and is quite prepared to throw people, even of his own party under the bus.
So he is a false “messiah” and for years has been burning the voters up, and people around him. He has complete control over his small party, and they have to swear total allegiance to his ways.
He has even through the coalition government forced through a “waka jumper bill”, so that any of his members of his party can not change party or even go independent.
They are not allowed to question publicly question him and probably do not even in private.

The media are “cheer leaders” in New Zealand to help the left to gain and maintain power. Where it is no great risk or cost they will allow some balance, just to show how good they are.but they sure will shut things down fully when they feel the need.

When Winston Peters projects his hubris and obfuscation onto the world stage we all lose.
It is more his history of stirring things, and then not holding to those principles, that annoys me, as he reneges when he gains the baubles of power, and the people who vote for him, have really lost power of their point of view.

In NZ parliament 2003 Winston Peters looking strong when in opposition.

It is time for the Prime Minister to end the ministerial career of her bungling, illegal immigrant-loving, hand-wringing, ineffectual, incompetent, no-hoper Minister of Immigration. Winston Peters thrives on jousting with journalists.

Australian Senator Fraser Anning has responded to being called a ‘moron’ by Winston Peters
      2 Apr, 2019 5:50pm 2 minutes to read https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=12218693
The Australian Senator who Acting Prime Minister Winston Peters this morning described as a “moron” has hit back at comments made by the NZ First Leader this morning.

Although he called the remarks “defamatory” Senator Fraser Anning told The Herald he supported Peters “positions on Muslims”.

“I would like highlight a number of comments Mr Peters has made which I fully endorse,” Anning said.

The Senator, whose comments about Muslims and immigration after the March 15 Christchurch shooting were described by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern as “a disgrace”, referenced a speech Peters made in 2005.

“In New Zealand, the Muslim community have been quick to show us their more moderate face, but as some media reports have shown, there is a militant underbelly here as well,” Peters said at the time.

Anning said those were comments he “fully endorsed”.

In the same speech, Peters said these two groups – the moderate and militant – “fit hand and glove everywhere they exist”.

Anning’s comments since the shooting have drawn a wide array of criticism for their Islamophobic nature.

One boy, a 17-year old Will Connolly, smashed an egg on Anning’s head in protest to his remarks.

Various Australian politicians have voiced their disdain to Anning’s position.

Peters did not respond to request from comment when asked about Anning’s response to the Herald. ……

……. Speaking to Sky News this morning, Peters called Anning: “four-flushing, jingoistic moron, but you already know that in Australia.”

“He is a national, absolute, democratic aberration. We all know why he’s there. He’s there by pure accident.

“It means you have to clean up your political system to avoid that sort of person making it into politics.”

Maintaining a high profile, helps towards re election, and being edgy on immigration and muslims particularly when leading up to an election, but he has never delivered.

An so the senator Fraser Anning is censures, some want him suspended or expelled.
A bit of wisdom, and to allow a bit of time, when more facts had come to light.
Possibly media pushing a part of getting some one to say something.
Media, academia were already off the marks and probably were out of the blocks spinning things.

Independent Australian senator Fraser Anning has been censured by parliament in Canberra for “shameful and pathetic” comments linking the Christchurch terrorist attacks to Muslim immigration.

The Queenslander was rebuked by his colleagues today for blaming Muslim migrants for the horrific attack last month in which a white supremacist allegedly killed 50 worshippers at mosques.

“Senator Anning’s comments were ugly and divisive. They were dangerous and unacceptable from anyone, let alone a member of this place,” government Senate leader Mathias Cormann told parliament.

Labor’s Senate leader Penny Wong said while scores of injured people were being treated for gunshot wounds, Senator Anning fanned the flames of division.

“How pathetic. How shameful. A shameful and pathetic attempt by a bloke who has never been elected to get attention by exploiting diversity as a fault line for political advantage,” she said, without mentioning Anning’s name.

Senator Anning entered parliament after One Nation’s Malcolm Roberts was disqualified for being a dual citizen.

He was widely condemned for a series of racist comments including a reference to the “final solution” – a Nazi term – in his first speech to parliament.

Senator Anning said he had pointed out that New Zealand’s immigration policy allowed radical Muslims into their country, which helped cause the massacres.

“My real crime is that I simply told the truth at a time when the left-wing political and media elites least wanted to hear it,” he said.

Senator Anning was branded a “disgrace” for saying Sudanese and Muslim migrants had a proven track record of causing crime and terrorism in Australia.

“It is an established fact that diversity undermines cohesion, increases alienation and is a key driver of increasing crime,” the senator said.

Greens leader Richard Di Natale said he wanted to focus on addressing hate speech in society, only making brief mention of Senator Anning.

“He has shown himself to be a pathetic man lacking any empathy,” he said. https://www.tvnz.co.nz/one-news/world/fraser-anning-censured-australian-parliament-linking-christchurch-terrorist-attack-muslim-immigration

Helps media to sell more papers, and click-bait links, as that senator is only a very minor player in the first place.
Media etc.., smelling blood, so all a bit stir crazy.

“Cultural Revolution collective hysteria that is currently gripping the public square.”
    —
I think this is the most important line in the whole piece. Will we still be reading all the silly nit-picking when children start denouncing their own parents? Or, let’s bring it closer to the moment. If Winston Peters’ children or grandchildren should denounce him, are we going to read about how he deserves it or are we going to read about the completely avoidable tragedy that NZ had brought upon itself? Will we be prompted to expend our energies on what Peters had said elsewhere or on how cultural revolutions come about and how they unfold? An entire generation has been programmed in Western high schools and universities, and families are falling apart. Put this together with cultural revolution and what do you get?

At the risk of being too long, did not read, and being NZ beltway politics, this article shows the mercurial chameleon of Winston Peters, that gives the impression of unchanging as it starts with;-

“Under the show, the struggle. Deep down, deeper than honour, deeper than pride, deeper than lust, and deeper than love, lies the getting of it all…
Francis Urquhart, To Play the King”

https://thespinoff.co.nz/politics/17-09-2018/why-are-the-woke-set-not-fighting-to-de-platform-winston-peters/ SEPTEMBER 17, 2018 a year after the election to power, where many got a payrise, well above their pay grade.

So it is a bit risky to shake the foundations of New Zealand’s current coalition government too much, but then again, they have all been swallowing each another’s dead rats, for trade-offs, to keep power, and live with a hope, that they will survive another election in about 18 months time.
Or will polls show that maybe on a high and call a snap election? For some maybe survivable, and for other parties, perhaps, the kiss of electoral death.

By the way, Mr Peters is being a bit optimistic when he talks about just the ‘underbelly’. What about the rest of the rancid organism?

    From the article –

“In New Zealand the Muslim community have been quick to show us their more moderate face, but as some media reports have shown, there is a militant underbelly here as well,” he said.”

    TRUE DAT.

Except that it’s more like the out-and-out declared jihadis are just the pointy end of the spear that is: the whole of the Ummah, or Mohammedan Mob.

“These two groups, the moderate and militant, fit hand and glove everywhere they exist.”

    Yep. Think “good-cop, bad cop”.

“Underneath it all the agenda is to promote fundamentalist Islam.”

Almost there… imagine if he’d said, “the agenda is to advance the power of Islam; to increase the reach, and the clout, of the Ummah, or Mohammedan Mob.”

“Indeed these groups are like the mythical Hydra – a serpent underbelly with multiple heads capable of striking at any time and in any direction.”

    Exactly. Nice analogy.

In that speech, he also suggested asylum seeker Ahmed Zaoui must “chuckle at the naiveté and innocence of his supporters who clearly have no understanding of radical Islam.”

Correciton – :”.. no understanding of ISLAM”.

New Zealand Jihadwatchers – Please – write to this man, ring him, email him, express support. But also – ask him if he has read Mark Durie’s “The Third Choice” and “Which God?” Ask him if he’s read Robert Spencer’s “The Truth About Muhammad” and “The HIstory of Jihad, from Mohammed to ISIS”. Ask him if he knows about the apostasy law; if he isn’t aware that it is part-and-parcel of traditional mainstream Islam – that it is, and always has been, about as dangerous for a ‘cradle Muslim’ – OR for someone who has foolishly joined the cult and then decided they want OUT again – to leave Islam, as it is for someone to try to leave a Triad Gang, or the Camorra or the Mafia. Or possibly even *more* dangerous… Also: ask him if he knows about the various types of mohammedan deception – muruna, taysir, tawriyya, taqiyya, mudarat. Refer him to Raymond Ibrahim’s series of classic articles on the subject. THAT – plus ex-Muslim Sam Solomon’s “Al Hijra: the Islamic Doctrine of Immigration” would I think help him understand, even better, the game that the ummah is playing, in NZ. A deadly game of infiltration and subversion.

The Ummah or mohammedan mob, the so-called “Islamic community”, is the sheltering nurturing sea within which the terrorists, the sharia-assassins, the killers, swim, and from which, naturally, inevitably and ceaselessly, they emerge. Got Muslims? Got jihad. That’s the bottom line. Tell him that. And encourage him to stand his ground.

I don’t want to hear of murder anywhere, especially mass murder as happened in Christchurch NZ….BUT this was a small number verses x what Islam and it’s adherentS have done…like a splinter Forrest. in the middle of a huge Forrest..
Politicians today who are aware of what Islam is and step up to the plate and speak their peace and when they are scrutinized for something that was said years ago is ridiculous..but that’s what Muslims do they cry and scream islamaphobia, racism, bigotry, etc. and never look at what they have done, for centuries,, to Christians , others and their property
Muslims don’t recognise Jesus as the Messiah and according to the words if Jesus those who don’t and don’t repent are headed for that Awful Lake of Fire. The sooner one recognizes this the sooner they will become more peaceful…Jesus teaches peace, not so with the Islamist.

“Muslims don’t recognise Jesus as the Messiah”

That’s incorrect, the Quran refers to Jesus as Messiah several times eg Surah 4:171

      “Jesus teaches peace”

Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
      Matthew 10:34

The Qur’an does use the term “Messiah”, but certainly does not consider Jesus to be the Savior. So Muslims appear to have no idea what the term actually means.

        Apr 6, 2019 at 10:46 am

Theo: do you have any idea of the context of the gospel verse you glibly quoted?
Because it does not mean and has never been understood to mean a command to wage war on anyone.
Jesus’ phrase ‘not peace but a sword’ is NOT about his followers waging war on other people; what he’s actually doing is preparing his followers for the reality of potentially being rejected by family and community.
(For example, when someone from a Muslim family becomes a Christian, what happens – a sword – sometimes a real sword, a real weapon, is raised *against* them by their family or by others in the Muslim community; they might be throw out of the house by their parents, they might be divorced by their spouse). That is: the ‘sword’ of that passage is primarily a metaphor for *division* that can take place, when a person chooses to follow Jesus and their family/ community reject them/throw them out; persecute them, even try to kill them, because of that choice. It is a ‘sword’ that Christians will *suffer* NOT a ‘sword that they will take up against others. I always find it bizarre that Islamophiles and moral equivalencers try to use that particular verse as a ‘proof text’ to claim that Jesus was not a teacher of peace.
