The Christchurch mosque massacres are being used to shut down any negative word related to Islam, including opposition to jihad mass murder and Sharia oppression. There could be jihad activity in New Zealand; what would be preventing it? Jihad against unbelievers is taught in the Qur’ans they read in New Zealand as much as it is in the Qur’ans they read everywhere else. So what did Winston Peters say — 14 years ago — that was false? The very fact that he is being made to answer for these statements now is a manifestation of the witch-hunt, Cultural Revolution collective hysteria that is currently gripping the public square.
“Winston Peters won’t apologise for Muslim comments,” RNZ, April 1, 2019:
Winston Peters isn’t backing down over comments he made about Muslims during a 2005 speech titled The End of Tolerance.
In that speech, he said New Zealand has always been a nation of immigrants, but not of Islamic immigrants.
“In New Zealand the Muslim community have been quick to show us their more moderate face, but as some media reports have shown, there is a militant underbelly here as well,” he said.
“These two groups, the moderate and militant, fit hand and glove everywhere they exist.
“Underneath it all the agenda is to promote fundamentalist Islam.
“Indeed these groups are like the mythical Hydra – a serpent underbelly with multiple heads capable of striking at any time and in any direction.”
In that speech, he also suggested asylum seeker Ahmed Zaoui must “chuckle at the naiveté and innocence of his supporters who clearly have no understanding of radical Islam.”
Mr Peters told Morning Report the comments were made in the context of recent terror attacks in London and that Imams around the world were saying the same thing.
“I was talking about extremism and I don’t resile from that.”…

somehistory says
It was all great until the final sentence. “The extremism”..
He was right in all that he said,,that they put on a “face” to show to the public, while hiding their purpose in moving there and their goals for moslims to meet…conquering the globe for islam.
He could have just repeated all he said formerly, but likely he would be on the chopping block by the PM who donned the “rape her-not me” scarf in submission.

Agreed. Not saying he was wrong. Just wish he hadn’t added the “extreme” part, but under the circumstances with the PM, he probably wanted some wiggle room. He didn’t take the other back, just put in a *modifier.*

PJ, just a few questions: does that make Winston Peters’ words any less true? Does that make the NZ witch-hunt any less real? Does it mean that, “Jihad against unbelievers is taught in the Qur’ans they read in New Zealand as much as it is in the Qur’ans they read everywhere else,” isn’t true? Is this blogpost about sympathy for Winston Peters or about the NZ PM’s suicidal virtue signalling and the consequent descent of NZ society into witch-hunting? Which is worse: NZ society’s potential death by fantasy, or NZ society’s death by irrelevant nit-picking?

You’re not going understand jihad is unless you know what it means to fight in the way of Allah.
Certainly was Allah pleased with the believers when they pledged allegiance to you, [O Muhammad], under the tree, and He knew what was in their hearts, so He sent down tranquillity upon them and rewarded them with an imminent conquest
And much war booty which they will take. And ever is Allah Exalted in Might and Wise.
Allah has promised you much booty that you will take [in the future] and has hastened for you this [victory] and withheld the hands of people from you – that it may be a sign for the believers and [that] He may guide you to a straight path.
And [He promises] other [victories] that you were [so far] unable to [realize] which Allah has already encompassed. And ever is Allah, over all things, competent.
And if those [Makkans] who disbelieve had fought you, they would have turned their backs [in flight]. Then they would not find a protector or a helper.
[This is] the established way of Allah which has occurred before. And never will you find in the way of Allah any change.

Was it a Sunni mosque that was attacked in New Zealand? When talking about Muslims do we need to be even more specific than that and also ask whether they were Wahabi and what school of thought they followed, that is, Hanafi, Hanbali, Maliki or Shafi’i? Do we need to be even more specific than that when we talk about Muslims or does it really matter? Does or does not the Quran really contain everything anyone — anyone — needs to know about Islam?

I’m sure someone else who lives in Australia or New Zealand would have brought this up eventually here at Jihad Watch.. Yesterday, in the Australian parliament they were going to censure or suspend Senator Fraser Anning for his uncaring comments about Islam just after the New Zealand mosque attack. Anning refused to take back what he’d said. Anning had said that,”I merely pointed out that immigration from Muslim countries invariably escalates terror attacks. I was never blaming the victims”. He also said that the media had totally ignored all the Christians murdered by Muslims in Nigeria in the past couple of weeks. I think almost everyone here at Jihad Watch (who I think know the truth) would agree with what Anning said. This guy, Winston Peters, who I think is filling in for Ardern as Prime Minister, yesterday called Anning a “moron”. Peters said, “I could call him a jingoistic moron, but you already know that in Australia.” Just google, “Fraser Anning” and you’ll see info about this. “news.com.au” has the story about Peters calling Anning a moron. We have a very strange electoral system here in Australia and Anning somehow got into the Senate with hardly any votes, which is something Peters refers to. ( the bit about “anti-democratic”, which is true). I mentioned this to set the record straight about what Peters is about. I don’t know much about him but he seems pretty soft on Islam when he calls Anning a “moron” for his views, whereas I think Anning is closer to the truth.
Paul J says
Funny how FA’s election is criticized but that Ghanian senator (women) who got in with a handful of votes is praised though hey Tim. We may have an odd system but it cuts boths ways.
tim gallagher says
Yes, Paul J, you’re right. But, as Andrew Bolt keeps saying, it is the side you are on that matters, not the principle. The left will never criticise their own. An the media will probably let a black African off without criticism as well . I support what Fraser Anning and Pauline Hanson have said about Muslim immigration, which I’m opposed to, Paul J. I’ve been writing to our politicians since 2001 calling for them to end Muslim immigration. But, although I don’t follow how this ridiculous way that many Senators get into our Parliament works ( with a handful of votes- to me the system sounds insane whenever I hear about it) I was happy that Anning somehow got there. It does seem like a crazy and undemocratic system. That Ghanaian ( or was she form Kenya?) woman seemed hopeless to me. But, what I couldn’t believe about her was when she went back to the African country she came from and said in a TV interview there that her wages weren’t high enough in the Australian Senate. I’m sure they get very well paid. I couldn’t believe that, because I thought she had done nothing and probably should have been earning the basic wage. I think that is what her abilities seemed to deserve. Many of the senators seem to get into the Senate by some kind of fluke. Remember that guy Ricky Muir. They are sort accidental senators for a while. I think he was kind of like a stunned mullet when he landed there.

My letter today in the Jerusalem Post, where I mention NZ and this website:
New Zealand in perspective
In “Jews on the wrong side of the West’s lethal culture wars” (March 29) Melanie Phillips takes Jews to task for siding too much with the Left, which can be anti-Zionist and antisemitic. This situation could be caused by an information deficit due to a lack of balanced reporting on events in third world countries.
Consider the emphasis on the New Zealand mosque massacre, the lead story for days on most news outlets. Naturally, Jews as humanitarians and historic victims of prejudice were outraged. A person could be forgiven for thinking that white racists are on a worldwide rampage.
But as bad as that attack was, it was still a man-bites-dog story. Much more frequently, Muslims are perpetrators of hate crimes. According to Christian organization Open Doors, in an average month in 2018, 66 churches were attacked and 255 Christians killed. Radical Islam was listed as one of the prime sources of persecution, the worst offenders being North Korea, Afghanistan and Pakistan. The Daily Caller reported that 120 Christians in Nigeria were murdered by Muslim Fulani tribesmen earlier this year, but that news has been underreported, perhaps because it took place in a third world country – or maybe because black lives really don’t matter.
Westerners like to hear about themselves and take greater notice when whites are the perpetrators. The Left is especially censorious toward those who dare to discuss Islamic abuses since they are not motivated by racism or Western imperialism.
Jews should not make the same mistake they made during the Holocaust of being blinkered by mainstream news sources, and instead make an effort to get at the truth through specialized Islam-critical websites (e.g. Robert Spencer’s JihadWatch.org). Meanwhile, Jewish organizations should initiate educational courses on Islam in coordination with counter-jihad activists.

Having a go at an Australian senator who queried immigration, being a cause, even though that senator did express condolences for the tragedy.
Keeping his powder dry, with the gun debate, and so it remains to be seen just what will he throw under the bus?, He is the one who announced the new gun laws, and only one day for public submissions. It would seem democracy has been thrown under the bus.

simpleton1 says
Yes Westman.
That is a good point of the media making the news, and in some ways seeing Winston Peters taking it to them is small joy.
However as I see it, is that Winston does not stand by those supposed principles, and is quite prepared to throw people, even of his own party under the bus.
So he is a false “messiah” and for years has been burning the voters up, and people around him. He has complete control over his small party, and they have to swear total allegiance to his ways.
He has even through the coalition government forced through a “waka jumper bill”, so that any of his members of his party can not change party or even go independent.
They are not allowed to question publicly question him and probably do not even in private.
The media are “cheer leaders” in New Zealand to help the left to gain and maintain power. Where it is no great risk or cost they will allow some balance, just to show how good they are.but they sure will shut things down fully when they feel the need.

When Winston Peters projects his hubris and obfuscation onto the world stage we all lose.
It is more his history of stirring things, and then not holding to those principles, that annoys me, as he reneges when he gains the baubles of power, and the people who vote for him, have really lost power of their point of view.

I think this is the most important line in the whole piece. Will we still be reading all the silly nit-picking when children start denouncing their own parents? Or, let’s bring it closer to the moment. If Winston Peters’ children or grandchildren should denounce him, are we going to read about how he deserves it or are we going to read about the completely avoidable tragedy that NZ had brought upon itself? Will we be prompted to expend our energies on what Peters had said elsewhere or on how cultural revolutions come about and how they unfold? An entire generation has been programmed in Western high schools and universities, and families are falling apart. Put this together with cultural revolution and what do you get?

At the risk of being too long, did not read, and being NZ beltway politics, this article shows the mercurial chameleon of Winston Peters, that gives the impression of unchanging as it starts with;-

So it is a bit risky to shake the foundations of New Zealand’s current coalition government too much, but then again, they have all been swallowing each another’s dead rats, for trade-offs, to keep power, and live with a hope, that they will survive another election in about 18 months time.
Or will polls show that maybe on a high and call a snap election? For some maybe survivable, and for other parties, perhaps, the kiss of electoral death.

TRUE DAT.
Except that it’s more like the out-and-out declared jihadis are just the pointy end of the spear that is: the whole of the Ummah, or Mohammedan Mob.
“These two groups, the moderate and militant, fit hand and glove everywhere they exist.”
Yep. Think “good-cop, bad cop”.
“Underneath it all the agenda is to promote fundamentalist Islam.”
Almost there… imagine if he’d said, “the agenda is to advance the power of Islam; to increase the reach, and the clout, of the Ummah, or Mohammedan Mob.”
“Indeed these groups are like the mythical Hydra – a serpent underbelly with multiple heads capable of striking at any time and in any direction.”
Exactly. Nice analogy.
In that speech, he also suggested asylum seeker Ahmed Zaoui must “chuckle at the naiveté and innocence of his supporters who clearly have no understanding of radical Islam.”
Correciton – :”.. no understanding of ISLAM”.
New Zealand Jihadwatchers – Please – write to this man, ring him, email him, express support. But also – ask him if he has read Mark Durie’s “The Third Choice” and “Which God?” Ask him if he’s read Robert Spencer’s “The Truth About Muhammad” and “The HIstory of Jihad, from Mohammed to ISIS”. Ask him if he knows about the apostasy law; if he isn’t aware that it is part-and-parcel of traditional mainstream Islam – that it is, and always has been, about as dangerous for a ‘cradle Muslim’ – OR for someone who has foolishly joined the cult and then decided they want OUT again – to leave Islam, as it is for someone to try to leave a Triad Gang, or the Camorra or the Mafia. Or possibly even *more* dangerous… Also: ask him if he knows about the various types of mohammedan deception – muruna, taysir, tawriyya, taqiyya, mudarat. Refer him to Raymond Ibrahim’s series of classic articles on the subject. THAT – plus ex-Muslim Sam Solomon’s “Al Hijra: the Islamic Doctrine of Immigration” would I think help him understand, even better, the game that the ummah is playing, in NZ. A deadly game of infiltration and subversion.
The Ummah or mohammedan mob, the so-called “Islamic community”, is the sheltering nurturing sea within which the terrorists, the sharia-assassins, the killers, swim, and from which, naturally, inevitably and ceaselessly, they emerge. Got Muslims? Got jihad. That’s the bottom line. Tell him that. And encourage him to stand his ground.

dumbledoresarmy says
Theo: do you have any idea of the context of the gospel verse you glibly quoted?
Because it does not mean and has never been understood to mean a command to wage war on anyone.
Jesus’ phrase ‘not peace but a sword’ is NOT about his followers waging war on other people; what he’s actually doing is preparing his followers for the reality of potentially being rejected by family and community.
(For example, when someone from a Muslim family becomes a Christian, what happens – a sword – sometimes a real sword, a real weapon, is raised *against* them by their family or by others in the Muslim community; they might be throw out of the house by their parents, they might be divorced by their spouse). That is: the ‘sword’ of that passage is primarily a metaphor for *division* that can take place, when a person chooses to follow Jesus and their family/ community reject them/throw them out; persecute them, even try to kill them, because of that choice. It is a ‘sword’ that Christians will *suffer* NOT a ‘sword that they will take up against others. I always find it bizarre that Islamophiles and moral equivalencers try to use that particular verse as a ‘proof text’ to claim that Jesus was not a teacher of peace.
