Apparently not referring him for the job, and not hiring him, would have been “Islamophobic.”
“Teacher at Catholic London secondary school is suspended after it’s discovered he ‘CAN’T READ or write,'” Daily Mail, April 8, 2019:
Struggling to read and write was not enough to stop a teacher getting a job at a top secondary school.
Faisal Ahmed was given the green light by elite teacher training program TeachFirst despite having ‘extreme difficulty with handwriting’, problems with reading and understanding ‘written tests’.
Just days into his new job at St Thomas More Catholic school in leafy Wood Green, north London, he was summoned by the headmaster and suspended, reported The Sun.
Teach First recruits top graduates who are parachuted into schools while they study for a teaching qualification.
Set up in 2002, its two-year leadership development programme provides training in school while they study for a postgraduate diploma in education and leadership qualification.
The charity aims to recruit people who can inspire young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to achieve their potential….
Mr Ahmed suffers from dyspraxia, a condition that affects co-ordination, and he told the headmaster Mark Rowland that he was unable to write for ‘more than a couple of minutes’ as his condition caused him too much pain….
The scandal emerged when Mr Ahmed, who is in his 30s, sued the school for constructive dismissal and disability discrimination after he quit in anger….
Ex-City worker Mr Ahmed was going to teach vital GCSE and A-Level lessons to teenagers.
Teach First admitted that they did not inform the school of Mr Ahmed’s condition.
Kilauea says
Bring him to the US. The NEA will sponsor him and help him get a job. In the last 20 years reading and writing skills of U.S. teachers have gone down significantly. When your best and brightest go into lucrative fields, education is relegated to getting the dregs. We have entrusted our children’s education to the least skilled college graduates among us and then shackle them with ridiculous paperwork. That’s why public education sucks and politicians send their children to private schools.
Victoria says
Why do so many parents continue to hand the education of their children over to an education system they know is failing? Why, after 5, 6, or seven years into a curriculum do parents complain that the system didn’t teach Geography, or history, or math or social sciences, or logic? Didn’t you take part in your child’s education? Didn’t you ask questions, meet teacher, attend school meetings, meet other parents? When was the last time you sat with your child for an hour and discussed their attitude about history, current events, math. Asked them about their attitude toward their teacher? Parents can’t complain about poor school management if the never became involved in the system. Many parents complain they can’t communicate with their children. They probably arrived late at the game. Communication begins while feeding, dressing and hugging a toddler.

If you look at the fantastically stupid things being said by Dem prez candidates, it’s notable that they’re not laughed off the stage, as certainly would’ve happened a few decades ago. We’ve cut loose of reality, we are unmoored.
I attribute much of that to the brainwashing job done by the AFT and NEA. We’re well into a multi-decade process of turning the population stupid/
Rhiannon says
Uh, shouldn’t he sue Teach First rather than the school since THEY did not inform the school of his inability to perform his job?
Ashley says
“Teach First admitted that they did not inform the school of Mr Ahmed’s condition.”

How could Mr. Ahmed pursue a postgraduate diploma in education and leadership qualification in light of his affliction? How could he be deemed a top graduate recruit if reading and writing were challenges for the man?
How did he make it past kindergarten?
Makes you wonder what other placements Teach First orchestrated.
Rhiannon says
Thank you for your response, Ashley.

Allah’s choice for his most important message ever was an illiterate (according to the legend) who in 20 years of supposedly receiving messages ‘in his mind/heart’ DID NOT BOTHER TO LEARN TO READ.
There is an absurd assumption among Muslims that illiteracy is A GOOD THING, because Mohammed did not read … ergo, Muslims should imitate Mohammed and they can be as effective as he was.
All the Jewish prophets could read and write, probably in more than one language. Why would Allah chose an illiterate? No doubt, the story of Mohammed is almost completely a fabrication.
StacyGirl says
Being illiterate… makes life easy. Just memorize the quran like a bot. Kill, rape, repeat.
Westman says
I tend to agree, Mortimer, that the claim of Muhammad being a caravan manager, booty divider, revelation revealer, and leader while being illiterate is a fabrication. It might well be that Muhammad, the person, is a complete fabrication, of cachet design; created in the 8th & 9th centuries. Even, if Muhammad was a real person, he certainly wasn’t illiterate by the standards of his day and culture.
The Mormons often refer to their founder as an illiterate boy, when in fact he was quite self-educated wth a voracious reading habit and prodigious memory. It makes a good story to have Deity choose an illiterate, a kind of, “unblemished vehicle”.
gravenimage says
Oh, there are illiterates who have been intelligent–or at least cunning.
The rate of true literacy was very low in dark ages Arabia.
Westman says
That begs the question of what “true” literacy was at that time in that culture. It certainly would not be the same as European culture. Many of the US founding fathers misspelled and made gramatical errors by current standards yet were considered literate.
I believe the “illiterate” tag was intentional to 1. Show that diety raised a prophet from the lowly, and, 2. Give authority to the illiterate over the very erudite – which the Sira and Hadith show Muhammad used to have his immediate competition murdered and shut up the rest of the critics.
gravenimage says
Quite possible, Westman.
Dave says
WHEN YOU COME TO THINK OF IT, WHY DID aLLAH NOT GIVE THE GIFT OF LITERACY TO HIS CHOSEN PROPHET? Caps on by mistake. Why choose a murderous misogynistic thieving paedophile as front man for a new religion?

I just hope he wasn’t teaching one of those leftard-sponsored Multicult {=”islamic”}religious Studies classes:you never know what they teach in many “Catholic” schools these days.Especially given that “pope” francis believes that “authentic islam and a proper reading of the koran show it to be opposed to every form of violence” and that Al-Lah who denies Jesus, curses Christians{k9:30}and has no idea what God’s Holy Spirit is….. {k4:171 “Cease!Say not three. It is better for you”.Unfortunately for Al-Lah,the god Lah,one of the 3 is…God’s Holy Spirit of Wisdom and the source of all Biblical Prophecy…and Al-Lah missed it completely..}…must surely be the same as the Christian God.And francis is a Jesuit!Of course he must know that Al Lah is NOT the same as the Biblical God.
You know the sort of mindset behind Religious Studies:”All religions are equal but islam is more equal than others”,”All religious folk must be respected but muslims must be given far more respect than everybody else…cos otherwise it’s just “islamophobic” and “racist” innit.?
Then maybe this fake teacher would be ideal as one of of those equally fake dissembling Dawa tricksters..
{“Lo! I am the slave of allah” the muslims would have you believe Jesus said,often seen prominently displayed on the Dawa booths:But that is Issa the Muslim and what they won’t tell you is that the alleged statement comes from a newborn TALKING INFANT See K19 v 29-30 for a good laugh..}Many of these Dawa folk appear to be illiterate:Bring an Arabic speaking friend along with you..especially an ex-muslim Christian{or worse ,ex-muslim Atheist or worse again an educated ex-muslim Arabic speaking Woman..}
Why are muslims even in Catholic Schools:Al Lah is NOT the Biblical God.
Al Lah manages to be both antisemitic and antichristian,which is some achievement for a god who wants to pretend he is the same as the Actual God {of Moses,of Jesus}
What next?Muslim doctors and dentists threatening to poison Jewish people…?
Oh..wait…we have had that too recently..

How can Mr. Ahmed sue for constructive dismissal and disability discrimination when he was basically impersonating a teacher? If he could not read or write, he was not qualified to be a teacher. He should be facing charges himself.
James Lincoln says
Renate,
You stated, correctly:
“If he could not read or write, he was not qualified to be a teacher.”
I’m not sure about the laws in the UK, but in the US issues like this would fall under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Under this, a prospective employee or employee / trainee must be able to perform the “essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation”.
Faisal Ahmed’s impairment would likely prevent him from obtaining a job as a teacher or teacher / trainee in the United States.
Renate says
Any lawsuit he would bring would be found to be without merit hopefully.
jayell says
I imagine that the sort of person to sue an employer for unfair dismissal after they’ve demonstrated themselves to be completely incapable of doing the job, would be some kind of self-absorbed delusional narcissist with a grossly exaggerated sense of personal entitlement matched by a similar level of ignorance and inversely by a total lack of self- and social-awareness. Now, I wonder what ‘religion’ teaches its followers that they are ‘the best of people’ despite a historic track-record of near-zero constructive human achievement and encouraging the indulgence in rank dishonesty, grotesquely abusive inter-personal relations and criminal sociopathy? Because I think we’ve already had a succession of Faisal Ahmads in the UK making ridiculous public exhibitions of themselves in the courts and employment tribunals, and pretty well all of them swearing allegiance to the same ‘faith’. And too often they seem to get away with it!
Renate says
That is a travesty of justice and a waste of court resources that could be better used for non-frivolous lawsuits.
Rufolino says
It is the people who pushed forward this person that should face charges, for disadvantaging the children entrusted to him, knowingly or not.
Renate says
Even if they didn’t know about his condition, they SHOULD have known.
beyondculturewars says
you can’t tell me there isn’t a Brit, a Scot, Irishman or Welshman who didn’t want and need that job. What is going on in UK?
jayell says
We’ve apparently got record low unemployment figures in the UK at the moment, and the Government has had to run an expensive ongoing national recruitment campaign in the media because there’s a serious shortage of teachers in many areas. Excessive professional bureaucracy and near-‘blackboard jungle’ conditions in too many classrooms (with derisory backup) don’t help matters. I have two relatives happily teaching in Hong Kong, and they wouldn’t touch a UK school with a barge pole. So you often end up scraping the barrel to put some sort of adult human in front of the pupils.

I take your point–still, I doubt things are so bad that schools have to hire illiterate Muslims.
Christopher Watson says
After 25 years teaching in London I gave up and went abroad and that was 25 years ago. It was bad then, it must be much worse now.
Dave says
Graven, things are that bad. There has to be token muslim staff to make up the quotas. Fairs fair, after all!

True, Dave–I just meant that no matter how dire things are there are better qualified and more decent Infidels.

It’s clearly a disability for a teacher being able to read or write. He probably filled in his job app in crayon.
You just can’t make this stuff up.

Another mistake. “unable” not “able”.

Even if a “disability” kept him from being able to “write” for more than a few minutes….He couldn’t read. If one cannot read, one cannot teach young people much of anything…as so much is in written form. Lessons, texts, tests, instructions, syllabus, …what about school does not involve reading at some point?
When his lack of skill was discovered, he was “suspended,” “Suspended” is not the same as “dismissal” or fired from a job.
His moslimness didn’t allow for him to accept the “suspension” and his anger caused him to “Quit.”
How can he sue for “dismissal” when he “quit”? It’s all about the money…and don’t ever criticize a moslim, no matter how much they deserve to be criticized.
Tom says
Unbelievable that a non Catholic teacher would be allowed to teach in Catholic school where religious instruction is part of the every day curriculum. Add that he is unable to teach competently and this system of hiring through an outside organization is shown to be totally incompetent and a direct threat to the students who rely on their teachers to see them through their exams by being able to teach with knowledge.
The UK public school system has gone to the dogs.
somehistory says
Tom
Religious schools probably are no longer allowed to restrict hiring to those people who have the same religious belief, but must hire moslims wherever and whenever they apply.
gravenimage says
Actually, Catholic schools have hired non-Catholic teachers for decades now to teach secular subjects–this was true when I was a kid in the 1960s and ’70s.
But hiring someone who adheres to a creed that *hates* Catholics and all other Christians–all other Infidels, in fact–is a completely different matter. That he was also illiterate is completely insane.
Tom says
Gravenimage thank you for enlightening me. I attended Catholic school in the UK in the 1960’s and at that time they were publicly funded as segregation of Catholics and Protestants was a big religious issue, but I digress.
When I attended, the Catholics schools were exclusively run and taught by Catholic nuns and overseen by the local parish priest. This was at elementary level school.
High school was taught by Catholic teachers who were, obviously, not nuns or priests, but it was a requisite at that time that they were to be Catholic. Many of our teachers came from countries with a strong Catholic base such as Spain or Ireland.
John Allan says
Islamophobia vs gross stupidity. No contest
James says
My impression is that this is connected with the notion of affirmative action, where people get jobs or school spots they are not entitled to because they have been victims of discrimination. This system always seems to work out negatively. It metastisizes to the point where people who are grossly unqualified become air traffic controllers or policemen. In Minneapolis one of these people was put on the police force, where he killed a woman who had called 911 to ask for help, thinking the police are there to help. But now the police are there to demonstrate that multiculturalism works. They are just like us. People are the same everywhere. This is the problem of leftism. there should be no distinctions because everyone is the same everywhere, but there have to be distinctions so that we can discriminate in their favor if they are unqualified for a job. And of course they have to be identified as victims in order to discriminate against qualified people for the sake of victims. So a vicious circle arises in which the incompetent replace the competent, on the claim that if there were no discrimination, they would have been competent. It is an aspect of leftism where reality is not good enough. Like the song Imagine by John Lennon. Reality is never good enough. We have to discriminate to end discrimination. But the end is always in the future whe n we finally get it right. Just hang on until the milennium comes.

When I was teaching adult literacy one of my most hopeless students–someone who, no doubt, would have been characterized as retarded in the not so distant past–came to me complaining of “racism”. I found out that he had enrolled in a class at the local community college, and was upset that he was failing.
I couldn’t believe that he had been allowed to take any classes there at all–this guy wasn’t ready to do well in third grade, let alone in any community college class. I suggested that he learn to read before considering taking any classes there–this was simple common sense.
I mentioned this to those heading the reading program, and was shocked that they didn’t agree. I said that not only was he not ready for any kind of college classes, but that it was alarming and dangerous that he was chalking up his failure in the class to racism–that he was a big guy with an apparent history of violence–he’d been arrested several times–made this all the more troubling. I worried about the safety of his teachers–myself to some extent, and especially his instructor at the community college.
I tried coaching him, even though I knew it was hopeless–it wasn’t just that he couldn’t read, but that he was unable to grasp any of the concepts in his textbook, either, even when it was read to him. (This wasn’t true with all the students–some were English learners, and some had dyslexia or some other issue that made reading more difficult to learn, but were still intelligent people).
Eventually I went on to work with other students–to my relief–but that both the reading program and the community college were unwilling to deal with reality was very disturbing.

Unfortunately that is the risk one takes in deciding to post online. My personal philosophy is to minimize and manage the risk by not have numerous online accounts, such as facebook or google, that are easily hacked.
In my case I weigh the possible consequences before posting, and only post my opinions in a manner that are respectful and unemotional, yet as informative as I can make them on any particular topic.
Think strategically, post responsibly, and you can get your point across without too much of an issue of being targeted by anyone.
In other words, just as with any emotionally charged reaction, use common sense and you should be fine online.

You ought to be kidding, and all that is waiting our kids, the next generation.
There was a TV program in the Netherlands and there were a few students from Universities and they were really upset and protesting as teachers in schools and Universities who gave lessons in Politics, only taught
politics on the left, and students who felt that politic’s both sides should be taught and lessons should be left and right. But students who had to make work projects and mentioned anything about the right ,got much lower valuations then people who only keep to the left and students who protested against that got shun by the rest of their class, so it has started already within Universities, Left against the Right, but a movement started by the students, who are so fed up with this and the Government who is doing the same thing. The parties who won the elections by so many votes, are not allowed in the 2nd chamber ,or people from that party are not allowed to become mayor.
And this is DEMOCRACY for you in the Western countries, citizens have no say at all. They showed the big and almighty President of the EU, they showed a video on TV. President Juncker hanging between 2 men,
not able to walk by himself, so drunk or he was messing with his hands in women ‘s hair.
It was a real almost hilarious show, but it is the PRESIDENT of the low life EU, who is spending all our money
on crazy projects like new airports in Spain, where there is never a plane to be seen, but it is more easy to spend tax money of others then your own, and only collect taxes and dictate countries what to do and how to do it. Rings any bells? We know more people who try to do that !
The old systems really have to go, all of them and people, realise yourself what kind of world you leave to your children behind, just because you did not even dared to open your mouths in the beginning. Strong by numbers. If JW had not existed, things would have already been worse, but people are wakening up. It goes slowly, but surely and stay alert all the time,
the UN is very busy with the New World Order. The EU wants their own military Army, but not to protect you, there are a lot of conspiracies going on, don’t fall for them, inform yourselves.
