Infections are a major cause of patient death in hospitals and medical facilities. That’s why if you enter a hospital, the odds are good that you will shortly encounter soap dispensers and signs urging staff to make sure to keep their hands clean.
The NHS in the UK has long grappled with the problem of Muslim nurses choosing hijabs and purdah clothing rules over patient safety and welfare.
Now The Independent, a British left-wing paper, claims that expecting Muslim nurses to put patients over sharia is bullying.
“A recent study has suggested that some Muslim female healthcare professionals experience bullying and harassment in the workplace over covering their heads and forearms in surgery. “
Asking nurses to follow patient safety rules isn’t bullying.
Although the original 2007 guidance published by the Department of Health on uniforms and workwear became known as the “bare below the elbows guidance”, made famous in 2011 when a surgeon interrupted David Cameron’s hospital visit by asking him to roll up his sleeves, it is important to note that the guidance is actually about ensuring hand hygiene.
The guidance was updated in 2010 and included recommendations to make dress code policies more sensitive to the obligations of Muslims and other faith groups whilst still maintaining equivalent standards of hygiene.
This is what happens when Sharia enters the workplace. Patient safety is compromised to ensure compliance with Islamic law.

That’s called ”going medieval” for real.

In the 70s and 80s, nurses removed their nurse caps, because they were considered unhygienic, due to the necessity of readjusting them often while doing regular nursing duties. IMAGINE how much MORE unhygienic the ISLAMIC SCARF IS with all the FUSSING and READJUSTING REQUIRED to keep it in place!
No nurse should wear a headpiece in a hospital for HYGENENIC reasons.
The Islamic LEFT-HANDED PROTOCOL FOR TOILETING is also worrying! Who would want to be touched by a Muslim’s left hand even if he/she is careful about cleaning?
Mezcukor says
I also saw that in the USA. I refused to be treated by them.
Paul says
Don’t forget patients visitors. There are hygiene stations where people can have a squidge of cleansing alcohol to immediately kill germs.
Muslims refuse as they do not touch alcohol.
Bit stupid when you consider leavened bread has alcohol in till its baked…

If you not want to wear the uniform that is don to protect patients and heath care workers ,you do not belong working with the general population at the hospital because you are a danger to everyone there, Maybe a special detail can be work out for not wearing the cleanest least dangerous clothing is not at the top of the list if you do not want to go with the program. There is always a need .for people to mop floors ,clean bathrooms, scrap gum off the floor ect. that you do not need to be perfectly clean. You can wear your cloth coffin doing those duties without getting to infect the patients and other hospital staff with the germ you carry around looking threw two eye slots.
simpleton1 says
Yes one of the first duties, is not to endanger the patients.
If the staff can not comply, then get out and stay out.
Noelene Kuzman says
Yes and one of the duties of our governments is the safety of their country’s citizens, and we can see how much notice they take of that!!!!
somehistory says
They should ask themselves: What are the mortality rates in moslim controlled countries where all women wear the full covering and administer meds or visit patients in hospitals and nursing facilities?
Back before doctors and others knew about “germs”…doctors went from patient to patient without washing their hands. They even went from dead patients to women delivering newborns without washing their hands.
Many deaths resulted from these unclean practices. Once doctors began washing their hands, the mortality rates went down…esp among new mothers and their babies.
This new practice of allowing moslims to have at the patients while being unclean is evil. Better to “bully” the incompetent than to sicken and kill the innocent. In reality, it is not “bullying”…but even if …
Patients should refuse… when able…to allow moslims to touch them.

Most women deliver newborns, they aren’t recycled! But seriously, you are right about refusing to let identifiable Muslims attend to and touch you when you are hospitalized. If you can, and just asking obviously carries a risk. But you can insist that everyone attending you follow strictly the hospital’s guidelines for sanitation and complain if you see them violated. I used to work as a transcriptionist in a rehab facility and was aware of problems with Muslims refusing to use the alcohol-based sanitizers.
gravenimage says
And of course using alcohol-based sanitizers has *nothing* to do with drinking alcohol.
somehistory says
Remember the restaurant guy who never washed his hands after using the toilet…just going right back to the kitchen and cooking, etc.? Whose to say that these nurses, and moslim doctors, aren’t doing the same thing? Just returning to the surgeries or delivery or dispensing meds after using the restroom without bothering to use the soap and water provided.
carolyne says
Jehovah’s witnesses refuse to have blood transfusions due to the biblical injunction against drinking blood. As using alcohol to disinfect hands has nothing to do with drinking alcohol, so does a blood transfusion have nothing to do with drinking blood. There are many nonsensical things in all religions, but Islam is the most dangerous.

Yep, Somehistory.
Carolyne, at least Jehovah’s Witnesses are just hurting themselves–not so with Muslims.

Well now, ALL women, not just “most,” who give birth, have newborns.
But for all those who can’t understand my way of saying things:
My point was that the doctors were killing the new babies and their mothers by not washing their hands after examining dead persons. Germs were transferred to the mothers in labor and to the unborn babies, and to the babies when they were being born and later to the newborns and their mothers while being examined after.
I was attempting to shorten it with my first post.

I knew what you meant.

I completely agree @revereridesagain but it’s hard to keep track of and many patients in NHS hospitals are elderly. My mother spent much time in and out of hospital before her death this year and it’s definitely something relatives need to keep an eye on. On a personal level I don’t remember any Muslim nurses at all – possibly they consider the profession demeaning – but we have a lot of Muslim doctors in the UK and many of them don’t use the hand sanitiser until asked to do so. But I found that when the doctors were “making the rounds” relatives were asked to leave and so unable to see if the clean hands/forearm policy was being followed.
The UK government and establishment is pathetic. Why are they so afraid of saying “one rule for all” and sticking to it.
gravenimage says
Sorry to hear about your mother, Dawne. My husband lost his mother this past year, as well.

somehistory and the hygiene laws are on our side.
In my country as a patient I can ask that any nurse, orderly, visitor or Doctor to wash their hands. Having had major surgery in the past few years, shared a ward with a patient who had come down with a major infection requiring a constant intravenous drips, and it would take a few weeks.
Doctors giving warnings to us patients to be very careful, to keep ourselves clean, and not risk infection. Though at that time I only first noticed the sign when being wheeled into surgery, but afterward was for my own health very observant of it for the staff, and myself and even regarding other patients in the ward.
So it is there and it needs a quiet but outspoken movement of patients insisting on seeing health staff to not only wash up, but their fore arms. Just keep them washing until you are satisfied or senior or management comes to supervise to the standard required. 🙂
So as patients, we can enforce and get them to comply.
We need to start now, as that is the best, to get best practice, and the hospital staff being swamped with non complying muslims.
Dawne says
All of what you say for NZ applies officially in the UK. But here Muslim staff simply call the racist card if asked to follow the rules that apply to everyone else. The only thing I would say is that NZ is swiftly following the immigration path of the UK and has a considerably smaller population. If things don’t change NZ will be overwhelmed with a Muslim immigrant population very soon and then you’ll find out it’s not as simple as asking a medical professional to wash their hands.
simpleton1 says
Dawne; Sadly I do agree with you the crazy increase in immigration, as our super structure can not really handle the increase. Also the political leanings to justify that NZ should have more immigration is very much pushed ;by academia, media and politicians.
The so called increase in GDP may seem good, but per capita (per person) there is no increased productivity.
NZ is still about 1% of muslims, but signing up to the UN migration Pact, and little lapses that occur with the Immigration Department does not bode well for the future.
Difficult as it may be, patients have the right to call for medical staff to practice hygiene in front of them! For me it has became automatic practice even when visiting a patient, and noting the interaction of patients, their visitors and most certainly medical staff.
In this area we have the rights!, and I know the difficulties, and the fear of the certain staff getting their own back in other ways. That happened in my first hospital stay, as being on an intravenous drip, and then realizing that one of the nurses, seemed to be very fast, in the regular check of me, in other words not flushing the lines, during changes of the fluids, super fast blood pressure checks etc.. Very disconcerting, when we are at our weakest. I did bring to the attention of another nurse, and then to a Dr.. Never saw that nurse again, though I do not know what actually did happen. Now I am more aware of things, time to think and reflect, and so I feel that with knowledge we can push back.
It is a crazy world, and we need to know things, so the balance of power can change, if we use it.
somehistory says
simpleton1
I’m glad you can question and then insist. The patient is the one at risk if the staff does not wash, so the patient should have every right to speak up and insist on seeing the hands being washed. And to demand not to be touched if the nurse/doctor refuses to comply.
This entire moslim thing has gone on way too long and others should stand up for their rights; esp in this serious area. There is a new “superbug” that is resistant to all meds and entire hospital rooms have had to be taken apart because nothing seems to kill it. It was found first in the ear of a woman, so it begins “C……” but I can’r recall at this late hour, the Latin word. I think it is a fungus. The “C” is for the Latin word for ear.
I wish you well.

There is no place for Muslim ideology in advanced Western Health Care Systems. A couple of incidents from my little area of the world. Incident One: A female Muslim patient went into convulsions in hospital, while her husband happened to be visiting. A male intern immediately began treating the woman. The doctor was then attacked by the husband. It seems the husband would prefer his wife died (will of Allah, don’cha’know?) rather than be attended by a male physician. Incident two: A Muslim woman was in the Labour Ward, giving birth. A female theatre nurse leaned over, and removed the woman’s face covering. The attending husband then began slapping the theatre nurse. The husband was later charged with assault – I don’t know what happened after that. Probably nothing. I’ve also been told that, when a Muslim patient dies in hospital, the police are always called as a matter of course. There are inevitable confrontations, because the family invariably demands the body for immediate burial, and they couldn’t care less for kaffur protocols about releasing the dead body. And it’s well known that female theatre nurses demand to be allowed to cover their forearms. Who cares about the risk of cross infection? But why should the health and safety of other hospital patients be put at risk, just to satisfy the seventh century ideology of these knuckle-dragging ingrates?

Yes–and I’m sure there have been more such cases.
Muslims have also violently demanded that their relatives be treated first in emergency rooms, triage be damned.

UK Paper: Asking Muslim Nurses to Put Hygiene Ahead of Hijab is “Bullying”
………………….
This is insane–this lack of hygiene can lead to infection, contagion, and even death. Asking Muslim nurses to adhere to standards of cleanliness proven to save health and lives for over two hundred years now is no “bullying”. If they can’t or won’t meet these standards they need to find a new profession.
Jayell says
You don’t ‘ask’ muslim medical staff, you ORDER them to do as instructed, or else they’re out. And if patients are unhappy about the presence of muslim staff, they should demand no contact with them or an immediate transfer, or/and sue the management on Health and Safety grounds.

If proven….will the NHS be found to be in contempt of the law, and subsequently found guilty, should a patient become ill, or worse, die, due to a Muslim nurses defiance against rules & regulations, and the NHS”s failure to make sure protocol is put into place (regardless what religious status the nurses are)?
Or will the patient/family members have to move forward with a civil suit?
Just a thought !

In the United States, an employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Meeting the highest standards of professional hygiene is an essential function the job of any healthcare worker who is even peripherally involved in direct patient care.

But, but, but nothing can be be put above Islamic priorities. After all, Islam is the true faith and Allah is real, Mohammed was a great guy, the Model Man (please, everyone, you should visualize a man in his fifties like Mo having sexual intercourse with a nine-year old like Aisha), and the Koran is devoid of all error.
Modern hygiene be damned. I mean how does proper hygiene compare to the multitude of verities found in the true faith? Not even a close call. Only an Islamophobe would contend otherwise.
Sick of Islam and its many dysfunctional, abysmal, dreary, lethal, damnable and just plain stupid aspects. Screw this religion since it is a curse to mankind, a leftover from the worst, not the finest, of previous eras. It is the dinosaur of world religions and one knows this by now or should know it. What a tragedy for humanity that still so many don’t, Muslim and non-Muslim alike.

I have often wondered about that…. An ADULT male having penetrating sexual intercourse with a nine year old girl.
